Bought a few plates for homemade baked goodies to give at Christmas..need to buy more

Not an inexpensive project, plate alone was $12.95 but I think it's a nice idea..

Betty, why is Suzanne in the trunk?

Victoria Harbour, ON

So she could pack every little cranny, not a 1/4" not used up lol
even then we had boxes beside us, bags at our feet, things under our seats..etc..
got to learn how to drive a transport..

Andy, your sister's piece is breathtaking..have you managed to keep a few for herself..how you must miss her! You must be relieved that the house is now on the market-not- a good time to sell though is it! Are you still biking?

It's a difficult decision to make Andy, getting help for your friend but think it's something you just may have to do otherwise if (when) something happens you will feel so badly that you didn't take steps to help but it's a decision only you can make.

Off the check 'Periseau's market'
Are you french Andy?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good Morning Everyone!!!!

Verona, ON

Morning Crissy! How goes the battle?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Waving Crissy and Dianne...

Dianne are you getting this lovely weather? Might be a good day for Santa Warren to enjoy a picture window having the heat of the sun warm him up.

Andy, went on the site..wow, love all the goodies..got a kick out of the 'pain' t-shirt...lol
Is your sister's works of art listed yet? checked different categories but did not see them

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, you have D-mail.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh Dianne it's going! My deli dude shut the deli down :( :( :( :(

Andy that's a great site you have there!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

I have two artistic sisters. The late Lori and the very much alive Rachel. Use the Search box on the right for either to see what's up so far. There is more added every day, it's tedious work. Yes, I have saved a few of Lori's enamel items for myself and Rachel gave me one of her paintings 'Rooster and Hens'. We have always loved art of any kind. I painted murals and faux finishes before retiring. Lori was the most diversified, she tried lots of stuff.
You can always find my store on my profile listed as my second favorite web site.
Betty, I'm not sure about the 'Pain' t-shirt. It's very easy to drift to someone elses shop, there are over 100k. Be sure it's Pariseau's Market or Andy2302.
I have not used the bicycle much, sad to say.

Andy, talented family!! Do you have any photo's of the murals you've done?? I do a lot of trompe l'oeil on furniture, should say did,,seems I move from interest to
interest every few months. Always admire murals, Crissy and Barb will attest to the many buildings in town Midland which have murals which depict the business of the facility.

Off to try and find the sites..anyone have the correct links?

mulege, Mexico

I just had one of those "lost in cyber space" posts.

Trying to get organized to finish the brown bagging on the west wall of my bedroom. Cleaning and moving stuff. I have all the supplies. Maybe tomorrow. Or the next day.

Saw teo American women who are friends that I haven't seen in ages (probably at least a year). It was really nice to catch up. They had been by my house when no one was here and saw the newly cleared space. When I explained that the space used to be road and we had gradually moved the road south and were now going to have a garden there they had a good laugh.

I got some cleaning/organizing done this morning then really tired myself out doing errands in town. Cleaned the freezer yesterday.

Got our first jug of the season's fresh orange juice. Gave my friend Saul a knee brace. I have to write a "thank you" to the doctor at Kaiser who helped inspire me to loose weight. I shared what he said as best I could with Saul who is also overweight.

My biggest goldenberry plant has its first fruit!!!!!

Love you all. hugs, katie

Betty, I didn't have a digital camera when I was painting. I did snap some 35 MM shots of a few for my portfolio. This was my favorite. Two weeks of practice and one week of painting. They asked for a Tuscan scene.
Edited to add; it's 10 X 7 feet in a dining room. I had to search for this pic, lol.
I love Tromp L'oelle. I did a few small ones ~ not easy.

We had a wonderful time... Suppose I need to send the Summary... is it possible? Yard work here Saturday then headed out. Stopped at a Cajun tourist trap for lunch....cute place. Got to hotel around 3p "Le Pavillion" the only hotel in Louisiana listed on "Top Hotels of the World". out of my league but I had found an excellent rate on tripadvisor.com

The book was in the room......

Room was VERY luxurious, hotel built in 1906. Rested then headed out for Dinner at Brennan's Palace Cafe on Canal st.
Then down the French Quarter looking for the LSU game. Walked around then Hot Tub on Top of hotel... sleep.
Woke to enjoy our most expensive and Favorite meal ... Breakfast Buffet at Le Pavillion. Carved Roast, Omelette station, eggs benedict shrimp, lump crabmeat, salmon....hubs fav thing? The GRITS ! LOL... way pricey but we really enjoyed it.

Thumbnail by MaryandLance
Baton Rouge, LA

Thought this interesting... Le Pavillion has a LONG standing tradition of feeding it's patrons Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwiches, milk and hot chocolate from 10-11p every night. Supposedly started way back years ago....the story is posted....

After gorging on the Breakfast buffet... we got bikes out of DH's truck and biked down to French Quarter and French Market... Shopping... Then more shopping at RiverFront Mall on the Mississippi River. Remembered that MIL/FIL were leaving on a cruise so wow - caught up with them just to say "hi".... headed back to room to get ready for Emerils.

Emeril's *BAM* at 6pm ! Then we headed to Harrah's casino... I had never played the video blackjack... hubs lost money then I put $20 in and cashed out at $145..... We took a taxi to Bourbon Street....

We found 2 places that we REALLY enjoyed.... Chris Owens had a band called "Roosters"... i remember his R&B club... then they went on break and headed to another place to enjoy some good ole Judy/Crissy Rock & Roll... Stevie Ray, Doobie Bros, etc.....
This is for Dianne ....

Thumbnail by MaryandLance
Baton Rouge, LA

Stumbled in and slept... woke, checked out and hubs drove us all around the place till we found a little breakfast "Blue Plate Cafe"... very good....re-energized and drove around looking at old homes,
Decided to go to the Audubon Zoo then realized it's closed on Mondays. Back to French Quarter and walked along the Mississippi River... lunch at Crescent City Brewhouse... YUM! Headed to drive around City Park then back home.

Ah... seemed like we were gone a week.... so I suppose we accomplished our goal of a quick weekend getaway....

Oh Mary, what a wonderful trip! Sounds like it was wonderful, and just what the two of you needed.

Hate to say it...but I am with hubby...I just love grits! lol

Debbie Waving and sending lots of hugs

Baton Rouge, LA

Awe Deb ! It really was nice... Thank you ! Yes - those grits... I have to admit... they were really really good.....
Hope the "WIGGLIES" are returning....
Hope those kiddos are taking care of you and Paul too... and as little drama as possible.....

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

I don't hate to say it....I love grits!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning everyone, passing on the grits if you've some for breakfast!! Yuk. Lol

Andy, the mural is spectacular! Lots of hard work..would imagine the design and putting to scale is what takes the time. I'm in awe! Love Tuscan designs..did a few floormatts..should have kept one for myself. Do you have any painted murals in your home?

Mary/Mary, there was plenty of space in that room for me...see I should have hopped on a plane....I'd so enjoy that good ole rock and roll, Cajun food sightseeing. Perfect weekend I'd say...see, not but a few years ago you'd not even imagine that you would be doing such things. Glad you enjoyed! Now let's hope you get to enjoy your work week. Thanks for sharing!

Debbie, how is the battle going? Are you making progress with movement?

Waving to all...on the run

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready, but you won';t find any grits here! YUCK! How about some pancakes and bacon.

Mary, sure looks like you had a very nice trip!

Verona, ON

Morning everyone. Been up since 4:30 just didn't get here until now.

Here's my big confession of the day - I have never had grits in my life. I know my BIL used to bring back loads of them when he went to FLA in the winter.

Mary thank you for the pic. I am so glad you are in the pic - DH likes to have a face put to a name when I mention someone from here. Sounds like you had a blast!! Have you ever seen The Big Easy with Dennis Quaid and Ellen Barkin? One of my favs for sure. How great it was you were able to send your MIL and FIL off with a loving good byr. Did they know you were going to meet up with them?

LK, Santa Warren really like dark chocolate although I have never seen him turn down a piece of chocolate when offered.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Wow Andy - I love the Madonna pic your late sister did - very nice! and the Mural!
Mary - tried to read all the story behind the PB&J, but only saw the tradition, not the story - could you tell us please? So glad you got away for your weekend retreat - sounds wonderful. Wish we could do the same - maybe...... before Christmas we could go back home to Winnipeg for a weekend? Or only me - it's my daughter, mom, 3 sisters, brother, and grandson there....... (no, I wouldn't see my gs's father - don't know where he is - maybe Vancouver),

How is everyone? I'm doing ok thanks :-)

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning,

Cheesy grits are the best....but love the plain also. I haven't had the cheese version in over 30 years! lol

Making some improvements, slow but steady. My ankle is finally moving slightly. The problem has been getting my blood levels "level". The doctors are getting upset....it just won't balance. Back for blood work late this afternoon.

Although I haven't been posting a lot....I am reading all day. I am not "allowed" sitting at the computer as it constricts blood flow to the back of the legs and circulation....and I start swelling. SO, I log onto my little phone....and read the updates. TYping a response on that is NOT easy with my eyesight. BUT I am keeping up.

Love all the craft projects, traveling, photos......and friendly chatter. I miss it all so much!

Hugs,
Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, have tasted grits and to me they are lacking in taste..NOT fond of sawdust gravey either!!!
Guess food is what you get used to..many wouldn't like my bloodpudding either but it's yummy..couldn't convince myself to eat head cheese after I came home and saw grandma cooking a big pig's head on kitchen stove..omg was ILL..nor pigs feet.

Debbie, we miss you as well..know my last few trips to Buffalo just weren't the same!
It will be slow but improvement even slow is what we've been praying for. How's Paul doing?

Glenview, IL

Good morning!!

I'll have pancakes and bacon, before grits, ewww. To be honest I've only had grits once and that was enough for me!!

Mary, your weekend was perfect!! What a fun time, love the pics for sure! So glad you took part in the PB&J experience, lol absolutley LOVE pb&j. Skittles & I have it daily on toast for breakfast, well she has just pb toast...lol, she even asks for peanut butter!!

Oh good gosh, GH just came in and rattled off a bunch of stuff...So got to run for a tiny bit, grrr should have left to do my shopping, but it's too early, lolol.

Any way see you shortly!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Katie, meant to ask for a glass of orange juice..perhaps you can include a few goldenberries but first I have to check what goldenberries are...lol
Wonderful that the American women are back for the winter, you'll have some women to gab with!!! Bet they were thrilled with what you accomplished..anxious to see photo's

Judy, started to laugh, you should know better than stick around the house..sure sign for Steve that you are looking for something to do..wish I lived closer, I'd be helping my sweetie Steve.

Crissy, missing you, what is new with you?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Ha! I don't hate to say it either, I love grits too! I like butter and sugar in mine. Grits are no good without something in them, but they're so versatile you can put anything in them and it changes the whole flavor. Bacon grits, cheesy grits, butter and sugar grits, it's all good. Before I moved here I was always buying them at the store because in CA restaurants don't serve grits.

I've been upset this week but I'm finally getting over it, I think. Think I'm going to go talk to a Psychic LOL!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ahhh poor little one, sure hope Crissy whatever it is that is upsetting you works in your favor..NOT the best feeling down each and every day.
Crissy, maybe I'm thinking grits is something else..does it look like porridge and white in color?

mulege, Mexico

To read about goldenberries here, you have to search under "physalis," then find the peruviana species. I've written to admin because "goldenberry" doesn't come up under plant search but have not had a response. The orange juice is excellent and can be accompanied by tangerines and red grapefruit from my trees.

I am making meatloaf today. I'll use quinoa, my new favorite food, instead of bread crumbs, in it. I have the veggies - onions, celery and garlic - simmering in the fat from pork sausages.

Wish I could send all of you some of our lovely weather. Sunny and clear and about 70 F.

We are almost ready to plant the first fence post in the new garden.

Debbie, I think of you a lot. Here we say "poco a poco." Bit by bit, the improvements happen.

I've been reading about and gradually doing, the "Fat Flush" plan. Losing weight and feeling more energetic. I think I'm also sleeping better though I've been having some strange dreams. Max, the new dog, likes to sleep lying against the smallo of my back. Very nice in this cooler weather. He is making the adjustment to living here well.

hugs, katie

Glenview, IL

whew I'm back, now to figure out what all I wanted to say, DH, lol not GH interrupted my thoughts...Awe Betty, your a love, I bet he would run you ragged, you'll never want to come back again!...Ohhh, but then maybe with you here helping you'll run him ragged and I'll get all those honey do things done, hurry, hurry be on the way!
So, last night, he and I finally had a chance to chat...LOL, I started off with, so since we are all alone, I have a few things to request!! One of the biggest issues is the stupid roof! I asked him to get a tarp, was going to do it before but didn't mention it to him, plus I need money to get one, which I didn't have, lol...so it still raining in the sun room! He was telling me how he and his guys finished the roof at both of the houses, very calmly I said, that's great, new roofs on houses no one is living in, meanwhile your wife and kids are getting rained on! ahaha, pretty soon it's going to be snowing in the house. I then asked if he wanted me to pay him to do the job, ROFLOL, gets him every time!! He gave me his famous stern look, promised he will get it done before the month is over, then he said, since we are home all alone, describes his "payment" I laughed even harder, told him, well, first he has to do the job, then I'll pay him, like he pays me about 3 months later!! OMG, look on his face, priceless, finally paid me for my part on the other house, but only for October's time! Oh gosh, what a pair we are!!
You want to know how this all started? Every single day, he gets up does his morning routine...the thing that irks me, he will only make his side of the bed!! Really stupid little thing, but for some reason, I went off about how it only takes seconds to throw the blanket across the whole bed!! His reply, well I can't do every little thing!! As the day passed, i kept thinking about all this little stupid stuff, all the while grumbling to myself....Ackkk, Debbie, I need your shovel!! ROFLOL.

Debbie, We miss you! Sure glad you are able to read though! hmmm, maybe you can find a magnifying glass to see your little keys. sending you some Armwraps, and praying for the blood to even out!, but getting feeling in your ankle is most excellent news!

Dianne, I was so smiling at your post!! We took Jake's Buddy Jerry to the Cottage with us. When we arrived it was like 30* in the house. The boys huddled around the stove..Jerry shivering, said how he was freezing...We laughed and told him when we get back from dinner he will be able to wear shorts!! We love our stove,. At the Cottage we call it Bertha, and we also have a baby bertha in the basement, just stoked her up for the first time, and thats where the kids hung out...
We do go to the Cottage a couple of times in the winter, how often, depends on Jake's wrestling schedule.

Alright, going to hit send...
Dianne, here a fun photo for you when we first put the stove in!!
This is Feb, 2009...LOL, lol,,,didn't know DH was helping Cedrick, get warm!!
