It's dinner time! Whatcha eatin'?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

HTD!
Just finished cleaning up after dinner, bed soon!
Made a pecan pie for the first time, not bad.
I have a crock pot trio, made the stuffing in one of the pots, and used the other 2 for mashed and mashed sweet potatoes, kept everything warm for a couple hours.

Smart, Debi....I left my crockpot at church...must remember to get it on Sunday....Meredith, kugli is sometimes spelled kuglis, it's a Lithuanian dish made from grated potatoes, onions, evaporated milk, butter & eggs, baked starting at 500 degrees, then turned down 50 degrees every 15 min....when you hit 350, it stays on that temp for 30- 40 min. You really have to babysit it, but it's very tasty....I only make it twice a year....

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

wow that's interesting... what is the texture like when it's done?.. we are pooped out.. but everything was good.. seems I wasted time making cranberries.. only Barb and I seemed to enjoy them.. everyone else went for the canned .. which I just can not do.. but I bought a food mill for the mashed potatoes.. what a great tool... loved them!!.. Michele brought the dogs and we had yorkie thanksgiving party!!.. was an enjoyable day!!.. hope all of you had one too!!

Everything was great! One girl that came tries to eat gluten free, so we were mindful of her. My Brussels sprouts turned out good. The sauce was chopped onions and butter sautéed, then some ground mustard and brown sugar stirred in. I used cornstarch instead of flour to thicken it, then milk. Cook to boil, then 1 min. Take off heat and stir in some sour cream. The grandies liked the fresh cranberry sauce. I took the mashed potatoes over in a heated crock pot. It worked out well.

Oh I def felt it when I had a little bit of gluten today...YIKES
Love cranberry sauce any way it's made but I am the only 1 so I just bought one of those tiny cans
Way too much food, I performed miracles putting away the food in the dreaded side by side fridge....did I ever mention I realy HATE my fridge?

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

LOL, sorry, Jen. I love mine. But then it's not sidebyside.

Does your belly hurt if you have gluten? She made a cranberry dessert that had a pecan, date crust. It looked similar to my fresh cranberry sauce, but then had fresh whipped cream on it. Yumm mm.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

The stuffing was really moist, I kept opening the lid while cooking to let the steam out to help dry it out. I'd do it again, turned it on high for an hour, then low for 4. I'd use less broth next time, so I could leave the lid on.

That Kugli sounds real good! Sounds like everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Jen I know how you feel I have a side by side and 3 of the door side shelves broke so it is even harder to fit everything than it used to be. I keep telling my husband I want a new fridge and he doesn't understand why!

Thomaston, CT

My side-by-side is very small.....gave almost all of my leftovers away, just enough for maybe 2 meals for me. Allison, the top of the kugli is crispy, the inside is like the inside of a potato pancake....I managed to save 2 small pieces for myself for leftovers.....Garret took most of what was left over...he & his family dined at the farm where there were over 30....guess not too much was left over there!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Lots of leftovers here, just finished slicing the rest of the turkey. Had a sandwich for breakfast.

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

went to DSIL's for turkey dinner last night, no leftovers here.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Who needs turkey?!!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

ICK and double ICK!!!!

Thomaston, CT

Ack! Now I can't eat my dinner! Which is going to be salad instead of leftover turkey.....

Yak = Leftovers. Mashed potatoes, YAK, left over stuffining = YAK, left over turkey = YAK,

anything else you would like to know = YAK.

And tomorrow = YAK , Turkey Casserole. Now I dont want to even eat.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Never tried yak.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Open face hot turkey sandwiches. :)

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I am NOT opening that link

Meredith what is it with husbands? Mine said "you better learn to deal with it we're not getting a new one"

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Is he talking about an appliance or husband (him)??

Thomaston, CT

Turkey soup...that's it for the leftovers.....

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

Yesterday I made a Thanksgiving meal at home. So now I have some leftovers. DH will most likely not be eating any. He was complaining about having Turkey again as it was.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Steak, baked taters, coleslaw....anything but turkey. LOL

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Well, we should be eating in about an hour, once everyone gets here.
Ham, meatballs, two pasta dishes, broccoli casserole, and whatever anyone else brings. We have the windows open , so we are thankful it is nice enou to eat outside.
Jeff spent a lot of time making trails through the leaves for a rousing game of leaf tag. That will keep them outside, we hope. 14 kids between the ages of 18 mos and 15 yr. WHEE!!
My oven is beeping, so I better get back to work.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Oh YUM! I haven't had meatballs in ages!!!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Had a wonderful sister day sleep over, we sat out on the deck for quite awhile, beautiful out. Still have lots of leftovers, turkey sandwiches on rolls are the best.

Southeastern, NH(Zone 5b)

I'm having Thanksgiving dinner for the third time :) leftovers

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Second time here for dinner, I like sandwiches better than the meal.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Well, one of the kids had gotten sick, so we were 3 down from that family. The kids had a blast playing leaf tag, then Jeff started a little fire and that kept them busy. All in all, a great time!!!

Thomaston, CT

Just being with family is great! My town had it's "Light Up the Town" celebration last night...my church was open, so I worked there for a few hours. The Catholic church uses our kitchen to prepare the hot dogs they give away, & the man in charge always makes a pot of soup for the workers...beef veggie. Today, I'm taking a friend out to lunch.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

I sautéed up some leftover spinach and onion Salad with some leftover ham and scrambled in some eggs. Mmmmm

Thomaston, CT

Sounds great....lunch out ended up to be stuffed cabbage....had to take half home, but it was delish.....

Turkey Casserole = YAK
nuff of the dang leftovers. I cringe. I want new and Fresh! Hate leftovers. :-(

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

New and fresh, new and fresh, we want new and fresh!!! I'm going to have to give some more of the ham to my son. Guess I thought they would eat more of it. Maybe I can do scalloped potatoes with it tomorrow.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Turkey rice soup, still enjoying leftovers, will probably finish with sandwiches tomorrow.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Randy and I love leftovers!!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Made a turkey pot pie last night, that will be all the turkey i'll be eating from that bird! LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Finished the leftovers last night!

Thomaston, CT

Sigh...still have some turkey...also leftover stuffed cabbage....guess which one I'll choose!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

made some soup with the turkey

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Sipping a peppermint mocha, taking a break from decorating. Pulled boxes out of the attic I forgot I had. Will find some place to donate some.
