Tried to watch Castle last night Debbie, started to but was disappointed, I must have missed the premiere episode where she was shot??? doesn't seem to be a relationship going on between them, thought for sure this season there would..may have happened as I napped lol
Haven't been to Home Depot, must drop in tonight and have mfd cut to size for table top christmas panel I want to paint, could be doing that from home..I'll sneak into the Christmas section just to oooh/ahhh..
Debbie, Christmas Tree Shop keeps trying to encourage me to drive across your way by sending me e-mails..Sharon wants me to drive over to Joann's on Saturday..makes for a long trip but do need some supplies and they have mega sales right up until and including Saturday....tempting
Best/Worse/ What did I learn today? & Xmas Swap
Feeling kind of numb today. My dog Amber died last night. Sshe was the oldest of my six and had been fading for several days. I found her on the road when I was traveling about ten years ago. She was almost dead, had mange, fleas and was starving. She was so small I could cup her in the palms of my hands so her name was Peanut - until she grew, and grew, and grew. I think she got up to about 70 pounds thanks to our American vet Lorraine who used to winter here. She was one of Lorraine's miracles. Not very bright, and cross-eyed, but a complete sweetheart.
My shoulder is still very painful. I researched shoulder harnesses last night, looking for something that will keep the shoulder down (I tend to hunch it when it hurts) and compressed. Think I found something at Amazon but I'll have to go to Ca. to get it. I may be going in a few weeks to see Amma. Don't know if I can fashion something for now.
I'll work a little in the new garden and maybe read for a while. I'm sad but ok.
hugs, katie
Morning everyone! Judy, so nice to see you popping in between all your jobs, and home duties! Wow, that is a lot of laundry to do! Sure hope you get help with the removal of those bushes.
Yes, we are supposed to get temps in the high 40's later this week. This morning it is 64, nice and cool!
Awe, Katie, so sorry to hear you lost your peanut! It is hard to lose a furry friend. ((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))) Please take care of that shoulder.
Thank you, Linda. katie
I'm feeling a little better today, hopefully every day is better.
Good grief Mary, what in the world does he want?? LOL!!! Hopefully he'll keep this up for the rest of his life!!
I hate how they start Christmas in the stores so early, there should never be Halloween stuff, Thanksgiving stuff, and Christmas stuff out all at the same time!
Debbie I'm seriously bummed that those legs aren't any better! How did the visit with the attorney and doctor go?
AAWWWWW Katie I am so sorry hun. That's tough lol crosseyed and not very bright.
Hi JUDY!!!!
Oh Katie I'm so sorry to hear about Amber..maybe she knew that you had a new furry and it would be ok for her to leave you as the others would be there to sit by your side!!! sending hugs.. Maybe you should be resting those bones for a few days..you have been overdoing with all the outside work..get yourself a good book to read!
Crissy you are right, the 3 shouldn't be out at same time..guess with our Thanksgiving being early it's usually over and done with before the Halloween and Christmas goodies come out..glad you are feeling a bit better! Snot Manufacturing business soon 'out of business'
LindaKay, are you spending mega time outside now that weather is on the cool side? and your hand, most of the feeling back that you can get into sewing/crafting?
Barb, here is the photo of the Christmas tree pattern Norm traced from my template for reference
Betty is that grapevine wound around it? Or raffia perhaps? That looks great. Thanks for sending it.
it's grapevine that is around it, stapples to sides/back
On most of mine I stained wood with dark stain, then light coat of off white then sanded it a bit around edges and front, really looked antique..also bought small rustic metal pieces to hang from it..
Ohhh Thunder, she's absolutely adorable and grown she has! You'll have so much fun with her..were you able to take a few days of to spend with them? I see a money bottle on the floor, is that the pennies you are saving for 2012 get together at my house? Bet it is..lol
Bev, hugs coming your way..it's hard to keep depression away especially when you are not getting out a whole lot..come play with us, show us your breathtaking photo's and let us make you smile..maybe an odd laugh..
How is Scotty, is he settling in ok?
Awe, she is so precious! So glad you have a new monitor!
She is just beautiful.. Just wish they didn't grow so fast!!!!1
Do they ever..one minute a baby the next driving vehicles..did your young one get his permit Barb or did he have to make an appt.
At MIL's dinner, Marg, Roger's sister who is 65 and I were sitting together, all the young ones laughing away, world by the tail, felt ancient!
Officially MIL's 85th birthday today, refrained from calling..lol
Well, going over to Buffalo on Saturday morning with Sharon..I need costume material, rag quilt fabric and Christmas fabric, can't believe I had a huge hamper full just how much these 3 projects I'm on takes..wow
Which reminds me, will call the quilting store and see if I can go on Sunday, if not will have to be shortly after
(((((((((Katie))))))))) so sorry to hear of the loss of your "Peanut". Not a peanut at 70lbs, f'sure! And, maybe she did know it was OK to leave when you had a furry to look after you now that she was ailing and needed to go "over the rainbow bridge"..... bless your heart for being so caring and giving her a good home all these years :-)
Thank you all for caring while I'm hurting. kb
You're entirely welcome, dear Katie - I think we've all been there (at least those who've ever had a furry in their lives).
Betty - isn't it great that I got my passport in August? I can't believe how the Lord was pushing me to do stuff that I never realized came from Him, but now I do........ I had no intensions of going out-of-country, then we went to the States while camping...... now I'm contemplating going overseas! It would be so lovely to go to Winnipeg though...... to see my mom :-)
Ann just left, no we didn't win the big dollars but we did have a good chat! Seeing as I'm in the states Saturday and quilting studio on Sunday we decided to make Tuesday night the night we work on the poinsettia piece for the table..she'm come over at 5:30, we will have supper, do homework then play bingo..can't win money so we might as well be productive.
Susan, Lord does indeed work in mysterious ways..can see you are on a high so I imagine today went well for you at work? How old is your boss?
Katie, hoping you were able to get some rest today...sending soft hugs
Hello To All ! Good Evening Night Shift :o)
Thunder - your Malena is so precious ! How long are they visiting ? Will you all Skype "Dad" together ?
Bev - Please try not to let the doldrums overtake... Lots of support on here ! ((HUGS)) Saw a whole row of Scented Daylilies Sunday and thought about you.... I'm wondering if they are just hybridizing scented ones or if those have been around.
Katie (((BIG HUGS))))... just sent you a little note... something that comforted me when I lost my last dog.... I feel sure Amber knew she was leaving you in good hands/paws.....
Deb - yes SO glad you understand the "worried" thing. I still am worried... don't think this time it's asking permission for something.... Hope he comes home from school early and I'll try to chat and see what's up.
Betty - You are RIGHT ON.... Everything you said rings true... yes much less drama... DSD1 at college and DSD2 left Monday for an FFA field trip. however huge drama for them... their bio Mom's father passed Monday... I never met him but he and his wife were good people (not so much her mother). this has provided a lot of upheaval for all...
The new floor - so far so good - but they've just finished a base coat...we aren't to walk on it... so to pass from my bedroom to the kitchen we're having to go in teh back yard... and Its CCCCCCold out there tonight! Coldest night since April !
Okay my ladies... need your help. Thought of you all today... saw where a giant new store is coming to Baton Rouge. "Joanns Crafts and Fabrics".... so... please do tell me.... Do you all know if they do Television Advertising ? If so - I need to sign them up asap...
((HUGS))
Mary
Today, I found out that my Grandchild on the way is a boy. Andy's girlfriend Heather is about 4 & 1/2 months along, and they are all so excited. His name will either be Dylan Marly, or Max Andrew. The baby is due, mid to late March.
Mary, I have never seen a tv commercial for Joann's. It may be that we have none close to us.
We have Joann's here but I've never seen a commercial for them. You might want to call or go see the store manager and ask them.
YAY LK!!!!
YAY Susan! So glad you're fitting in and enjoying every minute of it!
I'm making a hot toddy
Sure hope that cold is going away?
Yum Crissy - please pass one along ! You getting some cold temps too I suppose....
LK YAY! Happy Days ! Max is a great name... Dylan too..... Is this DGK #1 ?
Okay re: Joanns- good to know either way... I remember spending a long time researching another franchise and wasted time because they don't do Television....
At any rate .. l'll check the store out when they open and think of you all.... and Betty, ETC will have another stop while they/You are visiting me....LOL
I felt better today than I did yesterday, so hopefully tomorrow I'll feel better yet, the problem is, is I have this constant cough and I have to work our big conference Thurs and Fri.
Betty - now you have me curious why you're asking, but I guess my boss is somewhere in the area of my age. Likely a few years younger, I would say - somewhere over 50.
Goodness Crissy - get checked for Pertussis for heavens sake ! I like those Robitussin Coughpills 15mg dextromorphan and the Halls "PLUS" cough drops !
OOH... DS is home...bbl...
I have 2 Grandkids, and 2 step Grandkids. I treat them all as my own! This will be #5!
good gravy!! Pertussis is something I'd never heard the name ot - didn't realize it was whooping cough, which can be fatal! Yes, Crissy - please get checked - remember you said somethings are not too small to check into - remember Stacey/Fairy? She's sure glad she got her breathing probs checked out.........!
My goodness this thread zooms so fast. I can't keep up but will add fodder ~ cause I have to tell someboby.
My emotions are bouncing all over the place. My sister Rachel and I are dealing with Lori's stuff. Each visit evokes old memories and surprises. Lori passed away last month. Todays dump run included moms 'Mothers Rocker' chair in which she rocked all us kids. That bothered me ..... On the other hand there are gems. My fathers book case from the '40s and a Devinci Hybrid bicycle. I've always loved the book case but the bike, now that 's different. What is a 70 yo handicapped woman doing with a high performance racing bike? I pumped up the tires and got on it. WOW, like a V8, zoom. I used to ride bikes 30 years ago, sometimes 20 miles a day but nothing like this Devinci. Hand crafted world class racing. it's like driving a Corvette. I'm upset it's going to rain tomorrow. This bike needs a good run. Sarah the dog stays home cause she couldn't keep up, for sure.
LK - that is wonderful! My mom treated my stepdaughters like her own as well... you are very special for doing so... ((HUGS))
Yes Susan! You are right... here I was told by Dr. #1 in May that I had "allergies"....not so.... you never know...better to get checked.... and re-checked if not getting better.
I am still tickled pink as I know you are with your new job....!
SarahsKeeper....Sure wish there were a young adult who could take all those old pieces of furniture... we went through that with Mom's passing... got rid of stuff we certainly wish we could have found a home for... will you get to keep the bike ?
Do you have a salvation army or church to donate the items too? Sure hate to see things like that go to the dump!
Morning all, sooo very dark outside, imagine no sunrise photo's for me this morning!
LindaKay, congratulations, how exciting to have a new baby in the family..I like the name Dylan..mid March?? Not the 2nd?? Lol. Do they live nearby so you will get lots of sitting in? Bet you are on cloud nine.
Andy, you'll be on a roller coaster ride for some time with your emotions, hard parting with the past ..a shame for sure in the rocker, I would have kept it even if I had to put it in my garden with pot of trailing plants on it. Girls are right, so many kids heading out to university that are looking for furniture and kitchen wear that you'd not want to garbage it all. Glad you are taking the book case and what a treasure you have coming across the Devinci bike...my youngest son is into biking so with have to ask him a bit about it. Maybe it's Lori's way of telling you to get fit, out riding you must go...sending hugs to help you go through these hard times.
Susan, didn't ask about age for any particular reason, just that if he wasn't young, I think there is more understanding and appreciation of knowledge acquired through years of experience.
Mary, I've not seen a Joann's commercial either, they do a lot of on-line promo and if you are a crafter or sew it's the place to shop. Look at me, traveling on Saturday just to take advantage of their sales..what I pay over $12.00 a yard for here I can get for under $5.00 there and when you are buying 20 yards or so that is a savings even considering gas to go. We research their sales so highly unlikely there is a need to advertise..
Crissy, sure hope the cough subsides..if you are not well is there anyone who could take over for you..hard trying not to hack..drats not good.
Got my blood running this morning, they were showing on the news that in China a man ran over a young child, apparently took off, showed photo's of passerby's who virtually stepped over her to get on with their day, finally a woman stopped to help, child is not expected to survive..here is the clencher, when they found the driver he said that he backed up and ran over the child 2nd time because had she lived he'd not be able to afford hospital bills...never heard of such behavior ever..I'd be putting him in jail and throwing away the key
Oooh best I get moving!
Goodddddddddddd morning everyone!!!
You sure talked/wrote up a storm while I was MIA!
Dianne…I sure hope and pray that your headaches are getting better, must be so overwhelming for you taking care of your Sweety and not feeling that good yourself. This Christmas Swap will be so much fun and I just love the NO rules rule. Gifts from the heart, that is what Christmas should be all about. I would just like to add that if someone has an allergy or a real dislike of something to please let us know. As for me I LOVE everything, no allergies and only real dislike I have is raw oysters…but I am sure NOONE will send those YUCKY things…lol
Hugs and Prayers coming your way Dianne and Warren, you are always in my heart and prayers.
Debbie…I am so happy to read that you are making slow but steady progress. I can only imagine that it must be very frustrating for you not to be able to do the things you used to do before the operation, but it will come, just might take a bit longer. I am not sure if you had mentioned it before, but do you have a lawyer involved? I strongly advise you to get one if you haven`t done so, I am sure there are so many expenses that right now come out of your own pocket and that is not right. You should not have to endure financial hardship for the mistake someone else did. Lots of hugs and prayers coming your way too!!!
Bev…I love your new kitten Puff, he sure is one handsome Kittie!!! Maybe he will help you to ward of your yearly depression. How did he come into your life? Ohhhh and I love the beautiful pictures you posted, especially the full moon…that looks soooo Halloweenish!!
Katie… so sorry to hear about your Dog, never easy to lose a dear Pet. Also hope and pray that you are feeling better soon too.
Crissy…hope you are feeling better soon too, if not of to the doctor you go!! Listen to your Elders!!!lol How are things with you and your DH….sure hope that it is improving.
LindaKay…congratulation on becoming a Grandma again!!! I sooooooooo have Grandma envy…lol…I miss having a little one to take care of or heck even holding one I would be in heaven…lol
Better go and press “send” before I lose this post…lol
Helloooooooo Everyone & Good Morning!
Getting ready for work (geeze I love the sound of that!) and thought I'd pop in a few words....
Betty - you're right about the age thingie - I told him about how I was let go from one job because I was over 50 and he looked very concerned that this would happen in this day and age. My physician admin boss was my age and he was great. My HR boss was at least 20 years younger than me and she was totally unsympathetic to both of us being unemployed in our 50's/60's! Also, Neil wanted a mature person simply for the ability to say "no" to extra duties when necessary lol
Sarahskeeper - I agree - isn't there a Salvation Army you could donate the stuff to? Any young marrieds would love to "feather their nest" with items they could afford!
To all - have a terrific day! Sorry I can't keep up with you during the day anymore, but paycheques are important lol
And continue from previous post…lol
Susan…congrats on your new job!!! Sounds like a very interesting job with traveling and all, sure hope that they will take you on as a permanent employee.
Suse…whats new with you and handsome Moses. It just seems like yesterday when you two got matched up!!
Awwww Thunder…LOVE the picture of your girlie. Enjoy and cherish all the time you two can spent together.
Mary…hope you were able to talk to your son. Isn’t it weird that us Mom’s worry when they become all Lovey towards us…lol…maybe take him for a drive, I find it easier to get them to talk when we are in the car…maybe it is because there is NO escaping…lol
Andy…I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your sister. Going through belongings of a loved one that had passed sure does bring trips down memory lane…some can be sad while others will make you smile…it is all part of the healing process.
Laura…bet you are busy with quilting!! If you are anything like me you probably have 50 million things in mind to make for Christmas…lol..any more pictures to share with us from your last trip?
Judy…you sure are one hell of a busy Girl!!! Just reading all you do, makes me tired…lol…Anniversaries like that can bring up a lot of sadness and it feels like grieving all over again. Mom’s 5 year anniversary was this past Saturday; I spend the day quilting and just remembering the good times with her. Sure felt her right there with me at the sewing machine.
Betty…how are you feeling!!! Sure hope that the meds are helping you…when do you have to go to the doctor again? It is kind of weird that you already have NO leaves on the trees…here my maples are still full of them. So far we only had one night a mild frost and our days are a mix of rain and sunshine. Any ideas yet about the Christmas workshop? Enjoy shopping in USA…I am planning to go to Odgensburg NY to shop and to set up a mailing address so I can safe on shipping charges and faster mail service…Canada Postal Services suck big time!!
Barb…thank you for keeping everyone informed while I was MIA!! You are such a sweetheart and good friend and I am soooo happy you came into my life!! Pray and hope that you will get the results from your tests soon. Those crows are beautiful and I know exactly the spot where you put them…lol...what is on your agenda today? More placemat quilting (and I can picture exactly where you will be quilting…lol)
I am going this afternoon to our local gathering of Crafters. We started a small group and we meet once a week and everyone brings a craft to work on…some knit, some quilt and some crotchet. Lots of fun…plus it get us out of the house!! Today I will be working on hand sewing binding on 2 wall hangings…will post pictures once I am done.
LOL…wow this sure was a LONGGGGGGGGGG post…have a wonderful day everyone and love and hugs for all.
Thea
This is the Halloween "doily" I quilted for family in Germany
How cool is that Thea..love it, love how it looks as though it's entertwinning (?) You have indeed been busy, put that along with having family visiting and you've been one busy gal. Is your back handling all this sitting at the sewing machine, think that is why Laura has problems as well...long periods working on projects..I know you'll both say no, lol, but me thinks I could be right?
I'm fine, mega pain still but meds I'm taking are helping..shusss when I was speaking with the doctor last Friday he asked if I wanted pain killers, said no, silly thing to do, so half my friends/neighbors dropped off pills..too funny..no I'm not taking them, well I am taking Tylenol 3, it helps somewhat. I'll wait until Friday then call the doctor's office and see if they have any results. Dr. did tell me though if it was arthritis not likely it would show
Morning everyone! it is a cool 48 degrees this morning, but supposed to be 76 this afternoon! I love this cool weather!
Hey Thea, nice to see you posting, sounds like you have a nice crafting group every week? Please post pictures of what your working on! Love that Halloween placemat!
Betty, sorry to hear your arm is still hurting. I have never heard of arthritis making you swell like that! No need for you to be in pain, you better ask the Dr, for a script for some pain pills.
Susan, hope you have a great day at work!
Mary, how is your cough doing? Hope it is going away?
Crissy, hope your feeling better today as well! Better keep some cough drops in your pocket.
