Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Come sit and chat awhile

Glenview, IL

Hi Barb!! Oh maaannn, what a bummer, Well, lets hope they get on their way!! How exciting your son is coming for a visit, hope it's grand!!
Sooo, what does your Beautiful NH look like?? Do you have spectacular colors yet?

Mary, Waiving hi...Sorry haven't posted in a bit. Seems like I'm full tilt a whirl these last couple of weeks.
You asked about Jakes football, thanks...Well JV is done for the season...They did fantastic, lol I forget the final score. Varsity is still going. They are doing really well too. Jake gets upset when they don't let him play more then 5 plays. Mostly the Seniors are getting play time. But he does pretty well. Lets see, they are as of last night 6/2.
hahaha, over wintering Hubbies, very very funny!!

Laura, Love the photo of the kids riding with your DH...Loving all the Camping you have done this year. Hope your last? one is spectacular.

Susan, wow you have been busy busy too...Glad you found us again!

Oh Betty, Well only Sabrina is tagging along this weekend if she hasn't changed her mind. ..LOL, I think she just wants to use her new camera!! Oooh, and I am hoping she will "teach"/let me take a few shots!! Julia and Anthony have to go to a Bowling Benefit on Saturday for work...Jacob HAS to go all the football practices or he won't be able to play next Saturday...It's our Homecoming, wondering when he is going to let us know if he's going to all the activity, which will mean lots of money, sigh.

oops got to run around the block! Be back in a few.
You want to hear about my very frugal shopping day...LOL, i was truly on a roll!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm so laughing Barb . Too funny, must tell you a story, think its still in Bonita Springs Florida where i used to spend a few months..down towards the ocean (pretty exclusive beach area) anyway there was a bait company owned by a family called "master"..

Town council was trying everything in their power to have them change their sign

"Master bait"

yes Barb, you got a taste of how quickly I can put an oRganized room into complete kaos in a split second!

Just made myself a sandwich and again I thought it was lunch, nope, so this getting up before dawn screw up meal time schedules..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow, still in business after all these years!

http://www.masterbaitonline.com/

Judy, would be nice for you to get some alone time with Steve, maybe even some fishing..anyway you can trailer the bike? When kids get at the age yours are there will be fewer excursions as a whole..I miss that!

Looking forward to hear about your shopping trip..

Drats, was in the craft drawer and found 5 more Santa faces not painted..guess I'll have to sit tonight and finish them ...Suzanne said yesterday, 'how do you know the girls might not have wanted to paint their own?' ooops didn't think of asking..if you do, let me know before I paint the Knesset I found..lol

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Well, I have an "at home" day today, but not completely so - it's chilly, rainy & cool today - pnly 7c now......
I need to go deliver some Newsletters (only one street) and have a lunch date with a friend.
I was supposed to go with Jackie's sisterr, Marilyn, to drum up some business for Jackie, but she called me yesterday with her asthma acting up. Oh well, she thought Monday would be better, but that's Thanksgiving Day AND our anniversary, so no, I won't be going to closed businesses that day lol
Jackie said not to bother coming in today - she was leaving the office/kitchen at 7:30 (I know she was leaving at 8:30, but wanted to tell me to stay home, in the most diplomatic way possible lol)
So, today I go to the church to fill the plant watering jugs, water some plants, deliver newsletters and then out for lunch - in no particular order, except for lunch lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Everyone looks like they are very busy for the week-end. Judy enjoy your visit at the cottage. Please tell us about your shopping trip?
Betty, please send my faces painted? I am not at that stuff at all! Thanks.
Barb, sorry to hear family got stuck in Chicago last night.
Susan, sounds like your day is planned out too!

mulege, Mexico

This will not be news to most of you but - chronic pain sucks!!! My right upper arm and shoulder have been hurting for months. Gradually getting better but still hurts steadily, more so when I try to carry more than about half a pound. Very frustrating. We have some tree clean up to do tomorrow - I promised Tony I'd take a painkiller (two if necessary) and help him. I don't like pain, don't like not being able to do physical work and don't like taking more than one painkiller. Natter, natter, natter.

Am gradually getting the bedrooms cleaned up and more craft stuff sorted out for Tony's family. I found a remanufactured Rowena iron for $32 at Big Lots in Ca. Gave Tony my old, but still good one, and he said tim.ing was perfect as Antonio (second son, just off to college) took Fely's with him.

I still have no idea what started the problem with my arm. It feel like a lot of the muscles got torn but I have no recollection of doing anything to cause so much damage. It is getting better but not fast enough to suit me, of course.

Thinking of everyone. Too annoyed with pain to think of any jokes.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will do LindaKay, not that you see much of the face after putting beard/hair to it!

Katie, not good on the pain..sometimes we do next to nothing and end up with major injury..maybe you best keep outdoor work for when you are feeling better...Tony and Fely are so lucky to have you! Don't get frustrated, just get better..we'll joke at a later day.

I've been limping a bit as well, just in from the heal, between the arches of my foot is a big lump, knew it was sore so sat down awhile ago and looked to see what the problem was..hmmm what is with that.

Another hour before I'm officially off work and ready to enjoy the weekend!! Oh. Happy days..your thanksgiving is so close to Christmas, must make it hard.

Barb, your family arrive safely yet?

Debbie you home with the family...bet they sure missed you, almost as muck as the furries did..

Mary I'm on page 60 of whirligig!

Back to sewing..should really have a nap

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - how are you liking Whirligig? Sounds like a good time to put up your feet and relax your heel!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, do you wear good supportive shoes for your feet? As much as you are on the run, you need good shoes with a good arch support.
Katie, sorry to hear your not doing well! Chronic pain is not fun. Sometimes it just takes a normal movement like reaching for a towel, to pull something. Best see a Dr. if it does not get better.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I got the call that they are at their hotel in Concord at 3:30. Concord is about 30 minutes away. They had just arrived and needed to go get something to eat. They will be here when they get here. We told them to take their time and that we would see them later...Supposed to be getting together at my daughter's tonight for Chinese.....
Now I'm hungry!!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yaaaaay they've arrived!! Yes, time to eat, Barb - then you can visit when they get to your place :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just regular shoes..maybe I stepped on something, quite largemouth size of a 'toonie' our $2.oo coin and out about 1/2"

Susan am enjoying it but think because I've been reading during this sleepless night's that I have to go back and re read the 2 nd chapter I'm reading.

What a slow process these Christmas projects are, if I wasn't so far into them I'd scrap them...

Just finishing off the tux jacket then think I'll just lay on the couch and read..feeling tired

Barb bet it's hard saying 'don't rush' when you are dying to see them..camera please..pictures/pictures...we love pictures. Watch what you eat, wouldn't want to be I'll during their entire visit.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, why did he not go out and rent a tux? Would have been easier and cheaper? What is he going to be for Halloween?

Barb, glad your family is getting closer. Have some chinese food for me tonight!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not sure..seems everyone thinks Aunt Betty can do anything or better still, never says no

Want this out of the way because you've seen the orders those grandkids put in just days before halloween..

What are you up to today lindaKay?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Popping in to say goodnight!

Very productive day..considering sleeping in till noon tomorrow..ok maybe not noon, settle for 7 am!

Hoping everyone had an enjoyable day..

Baton Rouge, LA

Sounds like overall a wonderful day... Praying for those in need and in pain....
Katie ((HUGS))) Hope you find out what is causing this ...
Betty - Your Joke made me LOL ! Yours too Barb... how funny :o)
Hope the family has now made it in safely... Suppose the kids will be so grown up from last time you saw them. What do they "Call" you? Grandma? Funny in Louisiana there are so many different names from "Grandma"....which is what I called mine...

Judy - was about to ask about your window solution as well but doubt I'll be getting that much energy soon... 6 and 2 is a wonderful score ! He'll see more & more playing time I'm sure... Wonder if he'll have a date for Homecoming then you'll be running around to help wiht that.... "Frugal Shopping".... I'm interested !
LK - funny too... ya'll put a big smile on my face...
Betty - The first time I read Whirligig...I actually re-read it twice after and found a lot that I had missed... hope you are enjoying it. re: my "issue" we still haven't talked... I suppose we'll see what happens before supper tomorrow night... Did you make all 8 pumpkin pies? LOVE your pictures... feel like I'm sitting at your craft table. WATCHING of course since I am not crafty...
Shirley - even here I will have to go outside when we get freezing temps and cover up my hibbies (not hubbies Dianne LOL). This yellow one was so damaged that this is the first bloom I've had on it.
waving to Laura, Crissy, Bev, Debbie, and all I'm missing...
Susan Happy Anniversary ! I too feel family deprived at times. Everything in Louisiana is about Hubby's family.... I am so thankful the Lord has sent me you all to adopt me in some way or another....
Love and Hugs,
Mary

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Bob's family is even further away, in Ontario!
Thanks for the anniversary wishes - not until Monday though - 13 years! :-)

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello Night Shift !

Susan - do you have some nice Anniversary plans ?

Where is our Night Shift ? Suse, Dianne, LK? Debbie - you home yet ?

Tomorrow I will hopefully get up on "Betty time" (no not really THAT early) but early enough to take many more cuttings for the 10/22 swap. Some of my pineapple guava cuttings are cutting it... LOL... also having some last minute requests for some plants that should work out.
Then the Hibby meeting at 12noon.....
Maybe buy some pansies and plant some Fall Color....

DH is going to the LSU game...with his brother....
((HUGS))
Mary

Finally here ...

Oh, I really chuckled at all the jokes today! I especially loved the hubby one. Have saved it and will send it to mine but will wait until I get my flower beds finished. ☺

We worked all day again. Got more straw and some treated landscaping tembers to make the beds out of. A good friend told me about them. They're going to be very pretty I think.

Barb, so glad your family arrived. Hope your supper was good.

Mary, forgot to congrat you on your winning.

Shirley, I certainly understand how you feel about your DH. I use to lurk a bit and he had an amazing sense of humor ... I know you miss him.

Betty, hope you and the rest of the Canadian gang have a wonderful Thanksgiving! hope your foot is better tmr.

Susan, happy anniversary early in case I forget!

Dianne, hugs to you and Warren. How is he doing on his pain meds tonight?

Katie, so sorry about your arm/shoulder pain. I've been through something familiar a couple of years ago. I had Bursitis and tendonitis in my right arm. Thought it would *never get better. Hugs to you ...
It finally did with time and PT.

Debbie, if you're lurking, hope you're home, in your bed and hope you have a peaceful night's sleep.

Okay, speaking of which ... my eyes are getting heavy ...
Y'all have a blessed one!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, could have slept in had the furries not been so anxious to get out so will not slide back to bed as I so want to do, but will start the pies, will make life easier if I make them today..

Melanie/Greg and the boys are working at the church dinner tonight and says she will make the apple pie while making the ones for the church and make a salad..few less things I have to do, as we get older it comes easier to say, 'thank you that would be nice!'

Tonight I join Suzanne and some of Roger's family, she and Lenny cook as though Royalty is coming..nothing missing..I'll be able to give Bryan the tux jacket and I put a bag together for Ariana of Halloween goblins and trinkets as she so loved doing my spooky tree...so much so Suzanne picked a small one up for her to do at her house..

And other than playing with my christmas projects/ scarecrow and putting garden art away here and there, that's my day!!

Now how about you?

Know Barb will be pulling a Betty and gabbing non sto with family, making up for lost time.

Wonder how Debbie is doing, if she feels it's a step forward being home to recoup?

Bev, me thinks you should get into mischief today, now let's see what you could be up to, any suggestionsngirls?

Wonder what ever happened to Andy, am sure we made him feel welcomed? Odd

Suse, you've really been ambitious with all the gardening..are your new timber beds in front or back yard? If I remember correctly when visiting you had a lot of flower pot plants decorating the side. If I trek down your way I'll be sure to come and ooh and ahh at all you've done..

Well best star the day, find if I sit for awhile thinking of my day I get lazy and wouldn't want to be lazy today.

Going through my cook book and there was my glass cleaner recipe

So laughing who but Betty would have in her cook-book

Recipe for Victorian Santa faces and how to make paper, now in search of food recipes. Lol

Just popping in while I drink my coffee ...
Hey Betty ... will you come do my windows?☺ And yes, I have lots of flower pots ... I loooove beautiful flower pots! We're just doing around all the shrubs, etc. I don't have any tiny flowerbeds to weed ... Glad you'll get to rest some today ...

Hoping Debbie is doing well at home and had a restful night ...

Barb, hope your week-end goes well, also and you don't have any attacks while your kids are here. We want you in tip top shape so you can enjoy them ...

Mary, are you already out in your garden?

Speaking of which, time's a wastin ...
Will BBL! ☺

Honey.....I'm HOME!

Waving hello to everyone ~ ~ ~ ~

I am sore, head to toe, from trying to move around....but am doing it. Stairs are the hardest. Got up them last night....and down this morning.

Thank you all so much for the well wishes and prayers, Yes, Happy to be home....long way to go. Small steps....and coffee!

Barb, I did have Timmy Ho's Thursday....it was a boost! lol

Back soon....

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thunder with computers 3/4 of the problem is finding out what is wrong..know it's costly for a monitor but could have been the entire system..thank whoever loaned you the monitor for us...glad you are back on-line! Keept thinking not a good day for you to be working, Thanksgiving and all but it's only us Canadian gals who get to celebrate, and celebrate we will outside if tomorrow is any indication of the weather..absolutely gorgeous..

Now that my pies are done, thinking of having quick lunch then maybe a few hours outside putting smaller stuff away then clean myself up before heading out for supper.

Suse can I do them when a blizzard is going on up here and I'm dying for warm weather..maybe I could go into that business and visit each and everyone of you, providing you are not in snow country and that way the best part of winter would be over..lol
Smart thinking about the pots..gardens do tend to need a lot of care!

Best reason yet for 'Thanksgiving' Debbie, thank you for posting..reason to celebrate..don't you be taking big steps right away, little ones will do fine...by the time your Thanksgiving comes along you will be running around the table...wish Norm lived closer, he's great at getting morning coffee...I think someone should bring you one everymorning providing you are behaving yourself..

One more quilt panel (x 3) to do and it's the hardest (I think) then it's off quilting them..I think I took on more than I should have..why did it sound like a great idea last February, of course when I was all gung ho I had no Christmas Fabric only only thanks to you angels to I have some now..

Best I finish my coffee and get back to work!

OH Betty, those pies look soo soo good! And no fire extinguishers were involved by the looks of them. Are the boys all coming over for dinner or you going elsewhere?

So nice out, and DH is out mowing....nice hearing the normal sounds of life instead of inside the hospital.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Kids..

Greg just came over, wanted to borrow my leaf blower before he goes out to buy one, see if its worth buying , seems he forgot it was still in a box never used when only he borrowed it last year! Told him to take it and keep it, one less thing I need to store.

Then told me Jeff was on his way..seems with this gorgeous weather he decided to ride his 2 wheel bicycle (racer) yikes that is 160 kilometers (100 miles) one way.
Doesn't figure he will get here intil 7 or 8 pm..he'll sleep tonight for sure. Can't figure that out, has a truck, a motorcycle and he's riding something that will take 8-10 hrs to get here..I'll offer to drive him to the city Monday, either that or maybe Julie will pick him up IF she is not already biking up with him!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lol no, too funny, Cathy dropped in for an hour, told her I was tied to the kitchen counter so I didn't burn them so there we stood ..it worked though. Bet we have the same weather Debbie, hate to come in. Bet the family is thrilled having you home. You sit and enjoy..let the family spoil you..their turn to do the nurturing.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Debbie, so nice to see you back home! Just take it easy and don't over do it please? Do you have a bell to ring when you need someone to come running?
Betty, I'll have a slice of that yummy pie please? Wow, they look delicious!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Wow - busy ladies!! I didn't catch all the posts, however - been busy myself!
My plans for our anniversary are to have Thanksgiving Dinner here - our anniversary is the same day lol
I got a lovely surprise last night! Our friend/music teacher, Nami, is home from Japan (where she's from - moved to Calgary from there 4 years ago)!!!! so naturally I invited her for Thanksgiving! She asked if she could bring a friend. I had to hem & haw about that, because we're already, with her, having 10 people! This is a small single width trailer after all, but I said to her "the more the merrier"! I mean that, sincerrely! I am going to have to get another table though, cuz our round table only has 1 leaf and we need more space LOL
Our table, when it's open, butts up against the loveseat, so I'm going to put the loveseat on the other side of the living room which means I have to move other stuff from there. Now it's situated to view the TV but we won't be doing that on Monday, and in the meantime I can cuddle with Bob on the couch! :-)

today I went to the church to continue cataloguing the library books - a friend is on the committee to check appropirateness, and she called out the names while I wrote the author & title, and later (after Monday) I will add them in Excel and create Dewey Decimal catagories and labels for them (much later - will take 2 months to get it all done - at least a few hundred, and they've got to be put in order and labels made. We're only doing this when we can, so about 4 hours/week.

Well, going to go clean out the fridge today, and will have Refrigerator Dinner tonight lol Gotta make room for dinner for 10, and then leftovers afterwards! I told Bob about our plans for tonight and he didn't look like he thought I could do a tasty dinner that way LOL We shall see.......

mulege, Mexico

My "new" puter is acting up so this will be quick.

Tony and I worked together for about three hours this morning. Got a good start on triming the tree and raking leaves. Also made a path so we can dump trimmings and elaves in the arroyo. Someday we will have more fruit trees there.

Glad you're back Debbie. Watch Bill Murray in "What about Bob?" and take baby steps.

Quick hugs to all before the puter quits again.

katie

Back just in time for bed, rather tired! What a feast, for a change I did not over indulge and feel better for it!

Was starting to fret as darkness was falling and no Jeff..called into Greg's on my way home I Jeff had left a message that he was at Gregs for a hot tub, his knees were aching, long ride peddling...on my way home dropped over to say hi, too jeff to pick up treats as they are having a movie night..I decided not to join in..a good night sleep is more in calling for me, besides not sure I'd enjoy 'transformers'!

Susan, you've got such a good heart..and yes, more the nerdier..great way of thanking the Lord for all we have!!

Katie, sorry to hear the new computer isn't working out..is it the computer or the air service? You and Tony make a good team..you must almost be ready for winter..lucky you though , don't have the cold or the white stuff..

Overdid, bit of a headache so calling it a night..
Good Lord willing, we'll gab tomorrow!

Waving to all

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Waving to all

The Nerdier? LOL
Betty - it helps to celebrate with friends, when we don't have any family that acknowledges us here in Calgary, so the church group is a better family anyway! but nerdy? hmmmmmm have to think about that LOL

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

pretty sure she meant to post "merrier" probably on i pod/pad what ever it is, and got "auto corrected" those gizmo's make some crazy stuff with the auto correct feature...........on of my sons has a smart phone, and he says it does not know how to spell!!!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

lol
I just Love to tease Betty - she knows it, too LOL

Baton Rouge, LA

LOL Susan - Spellcheck on her IPAD I'm thinking.... Really have to watch that on my Iphone...

I was buying Hub's parents a photo album once and he txt me "where are you".... realized that the Iphone txt back "Thongs Remembered" instead of "Things Remembered".....

Anyway hoping all you Canadians have a Very Merry and Nerdy Thanksgiving.... Need to check "What about Bob" Katie....
Betty those pies look fabulous.... I really don't believe the whole you can't cook thing... pies are difficult to make !
DEBBIE I"M SO GLAD YOU ARE HOME! Wow you hit on the head... I too need to appreciate the "normal" sounds like a lawn mower...

I bought some dianthus, violas, headed to Hibiscus meeting. Meanwhile DS is texting me "I'm sorry" messages....

Ran home after meeting and took more cuttings for 10/22 swap. nap then P. F. Changs with DS, his GF and her mom and brother. It was really nice although I'm still nervous that she like me... They are really good folks...

Need to take even more cuttings tomorrow... seems some folks are just now joining the swap (it is in TWO weeks !) and want plants. I sure hope they "take".....

I'll pop back in a bit... ((HUGS))
