Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Come sit and chat awhile

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well Laura, that is a step forward...before you know it, he'll be asking to ride to school to be with friends.

Guess I don't mind the cold/snow, it's the in-between I'm not fond of.

Kyle was here last night going on and on, can't get snowmobile insurance in his own name until he is 16 which isn't until Dec.14th so he's fretting that we will have mega amounts of snow and he'll not be able to ride but an alternative he says is put machine in mom's name and get it for a few weeks..kids they try to think of everything. Lol.

Time to head out..went to put garbage out and Missy escaped..let's hope no skunk encounter..she doesn't smell half bad since I washed her or maybe I'm used it it..gab later

Oh Barb I sure hope you get some answers from the tests youare going through. Hate the but it seems we all hurry up to wait these days.

Hope your meeting goes well Laura. Do you think the teacher has a good 'handle' pn your little man?

Get that Skunk Off Betty, you'll gupl at the price but won't regret it once you have used it.

Will you get time for a name today Thea? It is chilly here on the lake this morning. If I find it cold then it must be according to my DH.lol

Looked all over on the web at Sony..they released a new e-reader this week, original was about $249. the new one has more features and they've put it at $169.99, great buy Jeff says but it allows you to purchase on-line not in stores..on my way home last night I saw Sony store just down the street, didn't know it was there so this morning I went and looked in the window and say it just wasn't an office but a full fledge Sony store..called and the manager said he had 2 in stock only and they'd be hard to buy..going at lunch to pick the 2 up for Jeff's boys..that's them out of the way so I'm thrilled with that. Now to find 1 more for Melanie as she enjoys reading.

Got this from a friend..omg you will see yourself in it...also thought of Tubby, he'd so enjoy this

FOR WHEN MEN ASK YOU 'WHAT TOOK SO LONG' in the washroom

When you have to visit a public bathroom, you usually find a line of women, so you smile politely and take your place. Once it's your turn, you check for feet under the stall doors. Every stall is occupied.

Finally, a door opens and you dash in, nearly knocking down the woman leaving the stall.
You get in to find the door won't latch. It doesn't matter, the wait has been so long you are about to wet your pants!
The dispenser for the modern "seat covers" (invented by someone's Mom, no doubt) is handy, but empty.
You would hang your purse on the door hook, if there was one, but there isn't - so you carefully, but quickly drape it around your neck, (Mom would turn over in her grave if you put it on the FLOOR!), yank down your pants, and assume " The Stance."

In this position your aging, toneless (God I should have gone to the gym!!!) thigh muscles begin to shake.
You'd love to sit down, but you certainly hadn't taken time to wipe the seat or lay toilet paper on it, so you hold "The Stance".

To take your mind off your trembling thighs, you reach for what you discover to be the empty toilet paper dispenser. In your mind, you can hear your mother's voice saying, "Honey, if you had tried to clean the seat, you would have KNOWN there was no toilet paper!" Your thighs shake more.

You remember the tiny tissue that you blew your nose on yesterday - the one that's still in your purse. (Oh yeah, the purse around your neck, that now, you have to hold up trying not to strangle yourself at the same time). That will have to do. You crumple it in the puffiest way possible... It's still smaller than your thumbnail.
Someone pushes your door open because the latch doesn't work.
The door hits your purse, which is hanging around your neck in front of your chest, and you and your purse topple backward against the tank of the toilet.
"Occupied!" you scream, as you reach for the door, dropping your precious, tiny, crumpled tissue in a puddle on the floor, lose your footing altogether, and slide down directly onto the TOILET SEAT.
It is wet of course.
You bolt up, knowing all too well that it's too late. Your bare bottom has made contact with every imaginable germ and life form on the uncovered seat because YOU never laid down toilet paper - not that there was any, even if you had taken time to try.
You know that your mother would be utterly appalled if she knew, because, you're certain her bare bottom never touched a public toilet seat because, frankly, dear, "You just don't KNOW what kind of diseases you could get".

By this time, the automatic sensor on the back of the toilet is so confused that it flushes, propelling a stream of water like a fire hose against the inside of the bowl that sprays a fine mist of water that covers your butt and runs down your legs and into your shoes.
The flush somehow sucks everything down with such force that you grab onto the empty toilet paper dispenser for fear of being dragged in too
At this point, you give up... You're soaked by the spewing water and the wet toilet seat.
You're e-x-h-a-u-s-t-e-d.
You try to wipe with a gum wrapper you found in your pocket and then slink out inconspicuously to the sinks.

You can't figure out how to operate the faucets with the automatic sensors ...so you wipe your hands with spit and a dry paper towel and walk past the line of women still waiting...

You are no longer able to smile politely to them.
A kind soul at the very end of the line points out a piece of toilet paper trailing from your shoe. (Where was that when you NEEDED it??) You yank the paper from your shoe, plunk it in the woman's hand and tell her warmly, "Here, you just might need this".

As you exit, you spot your hubby, who has long since entered, used, and left the men's restroom.
Annoyed, he asks, "What took you so long, and why is your purse hanging around your neck?" ...........

This is dedicated to women everywhere who deal with a public restrooms (rest??? you've GOT to be kidding!!). It finally explains to the men what really does take us so long. It also answers their other commonly asked questions about why women go to the restroom in pairs. It's so the other gal can hold the door, hang onto your purse, and hand you Kleenex under the door!

Send this to all women that understand what bonding in the bathroom is all about!

A Friend Is Like A Good Bra...

Supportive....
Comfortable ...
Always Lifts You Up...
Never Lets You Down, or Leaves You Hanging,
And Is Always Close To Your Heart!!!

LOL! Betty, that is too funny!

Glad you found the e-readers for the boy's, hope you can find the other one!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Dianne I used to have a Samoyed, he was afraid of his own growl!

Well I need to wake up, I'm reading but I'm not reading what I'm reading.

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, last Christmas I received an Sony e-reader from the boys..then at the end of February I went and bought myself an ipad, then last month bought myself a lap-top..both ipad and laptop and both Jeff put the readers on for me with over 2,000 books so guess where my reader, could say new is sitting, bottom of a drawer..here I'm looking for an e-reader for Melanie...it would be so tempting to give her mine for Christmas but it would be in poor taste..a $175.00 poor taste but poor taste non-the-less...guess it will just sit in a drawer and I'll look for another one.

Crissy, open those eyes and look out at the beautiful day ahead of you..were you in bed late last night?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

oh my......... poor Stacey - what a scare!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

OMG WOW that's horrible!! I'm so glad she's going to be ok for the most part and shared that. I am over 35 and on birth control pills. I don't smoke all the time but once in a while I'll have a couple of drags off a cigarette, especially when I'm drinking. YIKES!!!

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Okay, a quick note to say Hello to all and let you know I'm still up right and taking nurishment.

It has been very hectic and crazy for me lately, but won't go into that now. I am headed outside again. Just wanted to let you know I would love to join the Christmas Swap if you tell me what I have to do. Also Betty, if you take a big jar of mouth wash (the cheap stuff from the dollar store will work fine) and pour that on the dog right after you rinse the shampoo out of the fur and let it set for about 5 min. or so and then rinse it'll take the skunk smell away. Tomato juice works, but it cost alot more. You will have to take a rag with the mouth wash on it to wipe by their eyes so it doesn't get in them. I've use this trick too many times.

I will try to check in this evening and read more and chat then. Have a good day to all and hope it is a good one for you all.

With Love, Shirley

Victoria Harbour, ON

just serves as a reminder about putting off when we aren't feeling the best...now you girls know why I tell you 'get to the doctors'

Tried to add a comment but couldn't..guess we have to register somewhere in order to do so?

Dianne, you and Warren are in my thoughts and prayers

Sick to my tummy, ate too quickly, had pecan chicken salad AND baked potato with chili covered with goodies..wow not good..then we walked over to Sony shop, Manager Mark had said 6 more were arriving on today's truck so Suzanne went and bought one for her daughter for Christmas and I broke down and bought Melanie's..guess we will be having balogna instead of turkey this Thanksgiving..lol glad they are done..got 6 of the 8 done..feeling good about these. Truck was arriving as we were leaving so Suzanne will give them an hour and go pick the two we bought at lunch up.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Wow - that was some scare for Stacey!!!! But God is good and she is here for her Jonathan and Chris. That is what is important. And she is right too about not ignoring symptoms of things that are different to you.....
Those Santa faces are looking good Betty. You are soooo talented. Glad you were able to get the things you wanted....
Shirley - it is thrilling to see you post....I have missed you and I'm hoping with the cooler weather we may see more of you.

Hello Shirley, so glad to see you posting! ^_^ Also glad to see your going to join us on the Christmas swap.

Anyone else????

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !
Good Evening Night Shift ! Wow with those Canadian ladies "and others" looks like we have an "Overnight Shift" now.... LOL.... won't see me on there ! :o)
Yay Shirley has posted ! Shirley how is your Mom... did you just come back from a visit with her? Hope to see more of you and glad you stopped by...

Betty - the tag said "Dayliles"... interesting to see what Bev says... maybe it was a cross daylily with an oriental. I should go back and buy some....huh.....agree with you if Susan packs in a tin... seems we used to send Dad fruitcake in a tin when I was little and he was in military overseas. Could Kyle put the snow machine in both names?
Dianne - hope you feel better and it's not the flu.... Susan maybe a bit of Rum Cake was why that book took 2 weeks to get to you LOL....
Thunder - I think a lot of folks may throw out monitors... sad to say we have... mainly because where Hubs works they get a lot of extra 'stuff' that is thrown away... so could you check with the local Salvation army or something? People who updated to the flat screen monitors may have given their larger ones away...

Well I'll check back in a bit... ((HUGS))

Here I am again. I just came in from chipping the ice off the shelves in the upright freezer. Will go out in an hr. and wash it down and do a final rinse with vanilla water. It makes it smell fresh. I will move the stuff from the chest freezer into it tomorrow morning. My brother, SIL and a friend are leaving for Idaho Monday AM for a elk hunt. I told them they could have that chest freezer as I have a chest in the house and an upright and a freezer above all the refrigerators. I don't think I need it, unless I go in to the freezing business. LOL I am working on the flower bed in front that will be the Memorial Garden. A friend gave me an arbor for it. It's metal black with a tint of green on it. I will put a bench in it. It probably won't get completely finished till spring, but at least the worst of the weeds and unwanted trees will be gone. I will take a picture of it when all done. I plan on putting a picture of Tubby out there also.

I was down in St. Jo, MO taking care of my sister. She had to have her rotar cuff repaired after one of my dogs knocked her down a few months ago. I came back last Fri. evening and worked the next two days. I went to my Mom's on Monday and my oldest Sis and I moved her into the Nursing Home. My Sis is staying up there at her house while she is going through the transition. She's doing fine. I plan to go up next week and see her. I have to go back to my Sis's in MO and finish getting her outside work done before winter and than will go to Lincoln an help the other one with some projects she needs done and doesn't know what to do. Thank goodness I have the equipment and knowledge to help them. Good thing I paid attention to Tubby when we were doing stuff. I know he is watching and shaking his head once in awhile. I just laugh and tell him it has to be this way if I can't figure it out or get help.

Well, I better go get my stuff ready to go out and finish that freezer.

LindaKay I'm read Stacy's story and she is one lucky girl. I wish her the best and hope she continues to improve. Smoking and birth control are not a good mix. I know from experience.

The dogs are going crazy right now. The farmers are harvesting the soy beans and the lights drive them crazy. I hope they quit soon. I hate to think of them doing this all night.

Too a good evening and sweet dreams. Will chat later.

Shirley

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Oh Betty I don't know why your D-mail couldn't come through. Oh well, I will call you one of these days. It would be wonderful to hear your voice again. You will have to let me know what I need to do for the Christmas swap. This is all new for me. Thanks

Baton Rouge, LA

Welcome Shirley ! The memorial garden sounds wonderful... Sounds like you have been staying busy... Hope your Mom gets settled in ...
Vanilla water... what a great idea... I remember Mom and Dad used to make us girls "perfume" with vanilla and water...
I'm looking forward to the Swap as well... but I've never done one before....
((HUGS))
Mary

Hi y'all!
So sorry to be MIA lately, but with the DH home I haven't had much computing time. LOL Today was a very nice day. We slept in, then went downtown ... we hardly ever go there as everything has moved out toward the mall. It was fun just browsingThen we went to a favorite little restaurant to eat and after that went to Home Depot. He bought me an Abenia and a gorgeous red flower pot. I'll have to get a picture of it. Tomorrow we're going to his parent's house and rake pine straw for my flower beds.

Dianne, I've been thinking about you and Warren all day today. I'm waiting on an answer for you ... I hope you feel better tomorrow.

Barb, hope you get some definitive answers soon. I know that must be difficult to feel bad and not know what's going on.

Shirley, hope your sis and Mom get along okay. The vinilla water sounds wonderful. I'll have to try that!

LK, did you ever go fishing? ?

Mary, I'm pretty sure they are both fragrant. I know I've seen fragrant daylilies.

Laura, hope things went well at the meeting today.

Okay, I forgot half of what I read ... so will ~ to everyone else for now. I need to refresh my memory. LOL
Will BBL ...

Lexington Park, MD

Shirley so good to hear from you. And sounds like you are really busy.. Vanilla water never heard of that and will give it a try.
Meeting at school did not go well. Little man doing not so good in school.
Getting ready for the last camping trip of the year. Going to Hagerstown for the color fest. Should be a good weekend.
Betty I would like to try the santa. Was not part of that one.
Coffee is on.

Verona, ON

Ah LauraI wonder what's up with your little man. Is this his first full year in school? What's the game plan - did the teacher have one? Is it academic, behaviour or a combination of them both? Both my DH and I were teachers for many year and Behavioural Specialists so, (my DH was also a very good LD teacher) DMail if you like, lots and lots of little flags here popping up already.

How's our Miss Missy smelling this morning Betty? Did you get the Skunk Off spray? Works miracles!

Going to try to go back to bed for a bit. Betty and Thea please vote, exercise your right. I would never not vote, people like my sweet daddy and porbably relatives of yours worked too hard to get us the right to vote here in Ontario. Daddy always used to say there might not be a great guy in the lot but your vote might determine the lesser of 2 evils wins the elections. Politics meant nothing much to him, the right to vote meant everything.Ok off of my podium and back to bed.

Make sure you all do something nice for yourselves today ladies. You all deserve it!!

Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all

Dianne, how did yesterday do with Warren? Yes, woulnt miss voting and as you say this election it is the least od two evils we will be voting for...so wanted to try someone new but this isn't the time to take that chance!

Was up down, down and up half the night..think I'm more tired now then when I went to bed..gab in a bit, Sailor is doing the dance..needs out!

Lexington Park, MD

Betty I think it is the change in the wheather.
I do believe some of us went through this same time last year.
Coffee is on and thinking about making some applesauce bread.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Thanks for the coffee.

Yes I went fishing, but we did not catch anything. The sun came out and got too hot, all I got was a sunburn, but I had a great visit with the kids.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Applesauce bread sounds devine Laura!!!
I would like four faces if possible Betty. One for each of my kids.... That would be wonderful and help a lot toward Christmas gifts....
Shirley your Memorial Garden will be just lovely I'm sure. And I can just "see" Tubby looking down and grinning!!! I wanted to tell you that I got a row of the hibiscus seed planted that you sent to me. Now I just need to wait until next Spring!!!
Waving to everyone~~~~~

Very busy day today so a short post. My Colorado kids come in late tonight!!!
