Betty, I just watched the humming bird program too! Love those beautiful hummers! it was on our PBS station here.
Sure hope you can get Shirley to answer soon! Sure do miss her.
best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..
Hello To All ! Good Evening Night Shift !
Well - Betty we're starting a little late tonight... usually it's 8pm CST. (I just felt a little like Robin Williams "Hello Viet NAM" LOL)
I sure hope that garden the hummers come to includes mine... I actually saw a few yesterday....I still am wondering if "Birds Fly South" for the winter (as we were taught in kindergarten) then why do we still see them all Summer ? LOL
Betty - do you think Shirley just changed names and you are using an old one?
What is "Snow" ?
Suse - LOVE Greens LOL... YES - Really looking forward to the plant swap ... I go check my cuttings every day hoping they made it another day. Seems folks don't want what you've already potted up...but you mention something new and it's a winner.... LOL
Dianne REALLY Looking forward to the Swap... ONLY If Warren pulls the names... I'm excited that he is excited :o)... Just putting it out there... if we have an "odd" number I'll volunteer for a second pull....or is that how it works?
Thea.. I actually felt your picture drop my blood pressure a few notches... Please tell me how to meditate. Much needed after a day like this.
Bosses called me in and berated me for what seemed like forever. Long story but I can't reason with them so "yes ma'm" and "no ma'm". Then I left. Told Hubs I was quitting. They called me back in the afternoon and didn't actually apologize but something close. "We want you here"... etc. Emotional Rollercoaster...
Which made my DAY Judy to read your post... you made me feel good about myself again...and I THANK YOU my friend....I love to see you on here... please just try to post even if you are Blue... you are like a ray of sunshine my friend !!!
You too Betty - your Joel Olsteen post.. when I read it.. made me feel like you were with me when I was being made to feel so small.... angel on my shoulder.... THANK YOU for that ...so true ... I need to copy and paste to read tomorrow to give me strength to walk in that office....
Poor Betty - I beg her to come visit and yet she will starve when she visits me...
No seafood and No Cheese ! What to do what to do as she says....
Yes - Dianne... Cheese should be a food group of it's own. ....
Debbie - I think the Lord put you near those babies for a reason... how really cool... I'm wondering if "Goofy" at home is DH.... LOL...
Well - on the "Best" side of my day...I had agreed to have coffee with DS's GF's Mom ... since our weekend trip is this weekend. was a bit nervous...but we met for coffee and talked for TWO hours... Very nice lady and had some in common... she likes hibbies and is beginning to garden... I tried to make a good impression so she will feel comfortable about her daughter coming to Natchitoches with us this weekend....
Best : Meeting Sylvia
Worst: Chewed up and down by Bosses
Learned: Can't reason with them but I need to figure this situation out...... Hmmm...
HUGS<
Mary
Was hard Mary but i' still up..
Drats, don't those young ones know you get so much mire out of employees when you appreciate their efforts?? Think you and I are much the same, doesnt take much to hurt us deeply..you'll walk in there tomorrow like the professional you are, head high and a smile..don't let them steal your joy! Glad all went well with meeting Sylvia!
LindaKay, cool that we were watching same show, I was amazed when the were talking about how hummers made their nest sooo close to each other, right with the hawks because they are so small and quick that the hawk doesn't bother them and yet the hawk is a preditor of other birds who would do them, the hummers damage..smart things aren't they...was hawks right?
((HUGS) Betty ! So based on experience with Nature.... I should "nest" RIGHT next to my Bosses ! That's good news because my "Cubicle" is right next to my immediate superior ! LOL!
I'm baaack ...
Hi Betty! Great to see you on the night shift! LOL Snow ... I'm with Mary, what is snow! ☺ We may see snow flakes about every 10 years ...
I forgot to say, I love cheese ... I love the beach and lighthouses ... my house is decorated with them and the beach is my favorite place. Someone mentioned that earlier ... Of course, chocolate and coffee ought to be a food group before cheese! hehehe
Okay, may I ask ... who is Shirly? I hope all is well with her.
Debbie, if you check in tonight, I was so relieved to read your news on the thread. Take care and hope you sleep well tonight.
I'm sitting in my new recliner, but Moses loves to lay on my feet, so I haven't been able to do much reclining! LOL
Mary, have mercy ... you just go right in there tomorrow with your head high and shoulders back ... They're so lucky to have you! I'm glad you had a nice visit with DS's GF's Mom. I'm sure your plants will do just fine, and everyone will love them ... and you'll get lots of neat things!
Okay, off to let Moses out ... It's almost time for my news.
Betty, yes it was hawks they nest by, because they kind of protect them. Pretty cool!
Susan I thought chocolate was a already a food group! lol When I woke up in the Recovery Room after my first Pit tumour operation the neurosurgeon was encouraging me to drink things that had lots of caffeine in it. I quickly piped up asking if dark chocolate would be ok 'cause it had lots of caffeine in it too. Thrust me! The doc just grinned and said "seems you have your priorities correct" - he loves dark chocolate too. He is a competitive marathon runner and told me sometimes what gets him through the last few miles of the course is the dark chocolate his wife has squirreled away for him.
At Meaford Betty there are a couple of areas Ann could go to and get a rest if she needed it. I also think that arena has a wheelchair for everyone to use. Ask about it at the Office, which used to be inside the arena and I don't imagine they would have moved it. I found the people that run the show very interested in helping people out - exhibitors and attendees. Wonder if the Chip Wagon is still open across from the Hilltop? We always stayed over on the Sunday - most exhibitors head on home but living in the eastern part of the province adds quite a bit to your trip time wise especially after a long strenuous two days.. Always ate at the ChipWagon on the Sun. night - when we first started going it was the Conners who ran the chip truck and the food was yummy. Changed hands over the years and the food could range from chip wagon excellent to downright awful. The last time I was there I think it was called The Thunderbird and the food was great.
((((Mary))))Did you have no warning that this 'verbal attack' was coming? What a great Wed. surprize Not!!! Glad to hear there was an almost apology. Betty was so right on with her advice and this DG Momma is going to say exactly the same thing. Walk in there with your head held high and a smile on your face.
Didn't Shirley say she was going to Omaha for few days? Wonder if that is where she is...... I sure miss her posts too.
Have set the clock on the coffee pot for 5 am so have yourself a cup or two. It is coffee by a company called Kicking Horse and the coffee is a dark roast called Kick A** Enjoy!
Dianne
I'm twixed between two shifts, late for night shift and too early for day shift..drats not fond of this not sleeping!
Suse, tubbytee was a regular here, always started our day with a joke, just loved him! Over his last year when cancer was winning the battle he was fighting, he would still post, sometimes only a word...then his wife Shirley would come on with almost daily reports..since then she has had much to deal with on the home front but has dropped in to chat from time to time...
The d-mail response is as though she no longer on Dg and not because of membership issues..she's well ahead of the game..I d-mailed Dg to see if they could provide insight as to if she changed 'name' from Tubby's to hers..again I think not because would they not transfer membership time over to her? Will call her tonight for sure..maybe I'll go over to the memory garden and see the last post, might give some insight
Suse, I'm sure Moses will soon learn how to lay on the foot rest!
Dianne, just from your posts I see you are missing being a vendor ! Will look for some of your old haunts. Kyle told me he, Melanie and Nooah will be leaving tomorrow afternoon and spending theventire weekend. Seems Mel's grandmother 93 decided to put her name in at a seniors complex..her own appartment but with nurse on staff should she be needed! Her name was on the list no more than a month did she get a call to say an apartment was ready and she had 3 weeks to move in...Melanie and her mom Jan with help from the boys will have a garage sale to help grandma out, its on the same street as the candle factory so they should do well with everyone passing by.
Might try this sleep thing!
Morning,
Going through my closet this am looking for warmer clothes, just don't know how to dress!
Got to say, trip to and from work is starting to be spectacular ..such vibrant colors of red/orange/yellow...
See from Debbie's prayer thread that many of us Canadian gals were up and at it this morning ..either much to do today or we just can't sleep!
What's the plans for today??
Good morning!
It's Raining Men! Hallelujah! - It's Raining Men! *sing* well not really but it is raining nonetheless...lol...that means SEWING time for me today!
I sure hope that you can get a hold of Shirley...maybe it is just a glitch of DG that you can`t send her d-mails. Seems like I missed an interesting show about the Hummers. I think mine already flew south, haven`t had any activity on the feeder for about 1 week now.
Dianne it makes me so happy to read how excited your Sweetie is to draw our names for the Christmas Swap! I think for all of us this swap will be so special. Sending you hugs and prayers and hoping that today will be less pain for Warren and that they can fix the equipment asap so he can start treatment.
Mary I hope today will be a better day at work and just remember we are all right beside you. As for the meditation, first time I used it was on a flight to Germany with AirCanada with my sister. I was browsing through the on board entertainment and put it on and boy did it ever work and relax me (had anxiety because I was going home the first time after my Mom had passed away). After a bit of research I found the company online and my DH found some of the Cd's for free to download. There are different topics, I use the pain management and the different relaxations. The story lines/sound effects are really good and it really helps me to work through some of the pain issues and to find my inner peace. Maybe it is not for everyone but if you have an open mind give it a try if you like.
http://www.meditainment.com/
Well I better get going, getting our new water softner installed today and I surely don`t want to greet the installer in my nighty...lol...he might run away and never come back.
Hugs and Love and hope you all have a wonderful day
Thea
Rain and foggy here as well Thea..typical fall weather..hope Mother Nature runs out of rain between today and tomorrow so that Saturday will be nice for Meaford..my experience as Recreation Co-ordinator planning for major events and having to have 'rain' plan set just incase always makes me more aware of the behind the scenes panic for such a big event!
What project are you working on Thea...
Today I brought material to cut out decorative pieces i.e. Christmas bulbs and holly for 2 sets of panels for 3 blankets..won't take me long..should fill in an hour and then what? lol
I place by quilt blocks last night looking that I received this year and last for those that have the most red in them..I'm thinking as I don't have mego time for hand quilting that I might put backing on each block and quilt in the ditch then go on the do borders and backing..could tie corners..would still look nice and Suzanne would be excited!
Morning everyone! Betty, next time your out, please take your camera and get some pretty fall colors to post here! That is one thing I miss are the fall colors!
Got a message from Admn. and it explains it all..
I believe the system gives you this message so that someone doesn't unwittingly D-mail a deceased member. When we put the forget-me-nots on the page, the system does several things behind the scenes, such as discontinuing the newsletter. The message is an automated flag so that the sender gets a reminder that this member is no longer active.
As comforting as it is for family members to use their loved-one's account, it is a good point for having them get their own. We understand that it might be emotional, so we don't push it, but for the system's sake, it would probably be best.
Let me know if you have further questions.
Happy Gardening,
melody
Will do LindaKay, will bring my camera tomorrow morning, should be nice colors for the snapping
They are just soooo adorable Barb!
Good Morning!!
You all are so special, it makes my day to come and see you all.
I do love Fall as the colors become as vibrant as the Spring, only in reverse.
Linda Kay thinking of you as I see our Street trees are beginning to change, sigh, seems like just yesterday they were beginning to bud.
Mary, Sending you an Arm wrap, sure hope today is better...Was glad to see the bosses gave sort of an apology, whatever their malfunction was, well they shouldn't scream at people!
Thea, how exciting and you bet i was with you in Spirit. Sure loved seeing her very messy sewing room, hahaha, wish my craft area were as messy!
Woohoo and happy sewing to you today! Wow, doesn't Barb have the best Library too??
Betty, like I have been telling DH, i am going to be at your gathering if i have to walk, with or without him! lolol better start now.
Say hi to Ann and give her a big Arm Wrap for me...Well i sure hope she can go to Meadford with you. Sounds like total fun!
Crissy, waiving back at you, sure hope things are going well in your world, Was so sorry to hear of your co-workers loss. I hope she is healing.
And I am sorry to say, i'm not sure what's up with you and Dave, but I hope now that he is working, you two can work things out?
Speaking of working, Barb how is our Norm liking his new job? You tell him I am waving Hi with a big gummy smile, lol wink!
Awe, now don't be so hard on yourself, sometime CRS gets the best of us. Glad you are watching the diet. And Hey, we'll remind you on Sunday about fasting for the test on Monday.
You know, I've learned I really miss working!! All the help I've been giving to DH, is uh free of charge, lol sort of, payment comes later...Like when we rent the unit, and the house he's working on gets sold!! Believe me, I have a list...
Today is a special day, He is closing on the next big project!! The one he and Brian were working on. Now, I do have news. I was keeping quiet, but see that it's out of the bag. Brittany, Brian's girlfriend is expecting. Very bittersweet, how ironic, she is due on my DH's birthday!! So, we are talking about where she will stay after the now project is finished. I told DH last night, i think we ought to continue with the original plan and let her "rent" the next place, she will need a place soon.
One very hard thing is Brit is really hard to talk to, it's kind of like pulling teeth from a lion, but she does talk with Steve. Yesterday, she returned all the company clothes, t-shirts,jacket etc...All of this is still very hard on Steve. He misses Brian very much and every day...The new guy, is done! He is very good, but wants way more pay then we can give, so he is or will be on an on call basis!
Anyway all this blab started because i miss work, I realized just how much in the last couple of weeks. Sunday, Julia decided she would like to do scrap book pages!! Well, I helped her with the cutting and layout, which is what i used to do!! So here is the creation she/we did. It was very much fun, awe and her brother was so touched by it...
Also, Last week, before all the heavy rains, I worked on Roofing!!
LOL, my job was to remove all the nails and pointy stuff, ack it took all afternoon just to do this half. We have a tarp over it, waiting patiently for the rains to stop, so we can shingle, lol that the part I want to help with to, lol just so i can use my nail gun!! LOL, DH being a one handed supervisor.
Barb, What an adorable picture...Your little one's sure bring a smile to ones face!
Wow, today no school! Got to sleep in too, but lol my clock is on early, so got up at 7.
Jake still has Football practice today, so washing his even worse muddy whites! LOL, you should have seen him giggling over my distraught face!!
He said mom you know, I am practicing, well duh, but can't you stay somewhat clean, yeah right!! ROFLOL, that's like asking a fish to stay dry!! Oh well it's almost over.
OK, well I've got to switch out the laundry.
Debbie, hope the move to Rehab is smooth.
Betty, very interesting, makes good sense, I am so glad Melody got right back to you, she is very good with that...
Good Morning Peeps!!!
Betty you did forget someone.... LOL!!
Judy my life is beyond complicated right now, Dave's gone and I'm lovin life, I know I shouldn't feel that way but I do and there's nothing I can do about it. I just need some space is all.
That's interesting about the dmail, it makes sense.
I gotta go for now, talk to y'all soon!!
Mary....I have no idea where it came from but my Nana used to always say "keep your best friends close, and your enemies even closer" "you need to know where they are, and what they are up to" so maybe being next to the boss is a good thing hugs.
please add me in on the Christmas swap, and I have absolutely no problem with mailing to Canada!!!
I do think Shirley said she was going somewhere ?? to visit for a bit??
Judy !!! OH MY GOODNESS !! on the roof YIKES !!! not me!! I get freaked out two steps up on a ladder!!! three steps up and I am seeing stars!!! no kidding I DO NOT do heights!!! I could get dizzy just from looking at that photo for too long!!!
hugs to everyone, hope y'all are having a good day...
Barb, thanks for the kids in the leaf pile! Looks like were having a lot of fun!
Hi again...yippeee Julia took Jake to his practice...
AND the Sun is just bursting out, I am so excited to see it!!
Hey, where is Betty??? You must be having a crazy busy day/
Hiya Thunder!! LOL, have to admit getting up to that roof was a might scarey, made our helper hold ladder and my hand getting up there, lol.
But that roof isn't steep, so I was whewing about that...How's things going? Still working crazy hours?
I am especially glad to see some of you will be doing Victorian Santas!! They sure were fun to do. Even my Jake got into making one--for his Grandma!
Lets see, Barb, When i made a small one for Betty (about 10 inches tall) , I simply laid the piece down and drew the robe accordingly lol, don't forget the seam line...I still have some faces so thinking about making one for Joyce, lol she's been hinting she would like one. Also, intend to make a few mini Victorian sleighs...I Love, smoosh painting and of course playing with Podge!!
Dianne, So glad you are hosting the Christmas Swap, Can you imagine the smile across my lips...We will have to Send an Santa helper hat for Warren, so glad he wants to be involved! What a great way for US to celebrate the holiday.
Crissy, I can relate on the complications of life!! Well, my girl, just know you are in my thoughts, glad you are enjoying your free space, I guess we all need that once in a while...OK, going to see what i can accomplish outside for a bit.
I'm here, playing with cutouts for the 3 quilts I'm doing..excited about working from home tomorrow so I can sew and play like the rest of you...
YIKES and double yikes, raining, temp must have droppe 10 degrees in the hour I was out for lunch, looked awfully chunky, but not yet 'snow'!
Crissy, OMG who did we forget..say it ain't so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoyed the photo's Judy..love the scrapbooking..love that you are spending time together doing the album..
it's that time of year, think we're all looking for things to do that gives us an up...sorry to hear that Steve's new hire isn't turning out..but glad that you've a closing today.....congratulations Brit..must be bittersweet..funny how some people you can talk to for hours and others you just don't make contact.
You had better come girl..what has it been, 3 trips to Chicago for me or is it 4? no getting out of it even if I have to drive to pick you up!!!
Dianne, a few years ago friends gave me for Christmas a large sheet of molten glass..if you stand it against the wall one way you can see waterfalls, another way wolves and so on..it's behind a cupboard and I want to make 2 stained glass lamp shades for the girls..sheet was over $100 and it's wasted so want to cut it up..any secret to cutting that type of glass! I have stained glass saw but a bit harder to do straight lines

OMG Crissy I had thought I added your name..know you said 'no sewing/quilting' but you will join us right?
I'm sooo bad...sorry!
Just on telephone as I type with Darlene, there is a little mink after her squirrels..Darlene is wonderful at feeding squirrels and other small criters, here it is wanting din/din
This message was edited Sep 29, 2011 3:13 PM
I said no sewing quilting, as long as there isn't any of that involved YES I will join you!!
I say No to Snow!!
Got you on the list Crissy..I truly am sorry...
While we are on subject of Christmas pressies...I know how many victorian Santa faces LindaKay wanted but I know someone else wanted some as well..going to paint tonight and mail out over the weekend
Don't worry about it Betty, not a big deal.
Guess it didn't rain here as it did in Barrie because Cathy dropped in and cut my grass, perhaps for the last time this year...on my tv is a beautiful bouquet of flowers..who knows if I look in my refrigerator maybe someone will have dropped supper off..i'h just too spoilt!
Dropped into the little fabric shop on my way home, neededva few things, lorry, could have spent a bundle but I said no/no so now I can work on my projects tomorrow..
Off for a hot bath and relaxing evening!
Sharon just called, talk about bearer of news..
She.s been making a rag quilt for a baby shower, got the quilt done this afternoon and decided to make a pillow as well..so off she went th fabricland to pick up pillow form..dog got excited when she returned, got caught up in sewing machine cord and on the floor it went..smashed!!
Then she told me NOT to answer the telephone tonight. Seems mom's dog was operated on today..shaking my head here $3,500. Add that to the 2 other operations since beginning of the year and we are nearing $10,000.. don't get me wrong, vet says the new lumps are likely just fatty tissue, her dog is 12 years old and not in the best of health..know if I spoke to her I'd not be sympathetic in the least..has nothing to do with $$$ that they are spending..just think it's ridiculous..you can't make an old sick dog into a young healthy puppy regardless how much money you spend..maybe part of being upset is if I needed the same amount of money for operation to save my life she'd say. 'you are going to die...you've had a good life!'. Best I stop talking about it or my blood pressure will go sky high..probably offending some with dogs, but you have to know my mom!!
Best of the day...lawn cut, floors making living room pretty
Worse..tangent about mom/Jim and her dog
What did I learn today? Regardless how you try and talk sense to some people it just does not work!
Betty, I love my furry friends but not at that cost! most animals don't live much longer than that, and when mine get sick, I try to do the humane thing and have them put down. Yes I have feelings and we cry for day's when we do, but I don't like to see them suffer either.
Just can't make her understand..even Sharon told her about same comments as you, and you know Sharon, ther show dog has won best of breed at Westminster dog show in NYC
3 years running, but she would not put hers through ,nor would I with Sailor what mom puts hers through.
Darlene just emailed..she was to go to Meaford with me but had this news
Hi Betty
"I keep forgetting to tell you that Mike's dad Leo was in the hospital on tuesday and they removed a tumor from his bladder (cancer) but he is doing OK (had to go to emerg tuesday night as he had a clot in the bladder. They also filled his bladder with a radio active fluid ( anti cancer agent) He is scheduled for a ct scan to see if they got it all and will have several follow ups ( this is the same cancer that Tom has. They have not gotten the pathology results back but the surgeon can tell its cancerous. This type of cancer is very treatable so we hope everything will be fine. If he is not doing well I should go down with Mike on Saturday or Sunday. I will keep you posted.
Chat later"
Hmmm not a great evening
No not a great evening for you at all Betty. Hope Leo is ok, how scary! Your mom is something else with that old dog, I want to get a megaphone for you and say, MOM, THEY DON'T LIVE FOREVER!!!
Dave just called, seems as though he has to come home a week early and has to fly in either Thurs, Fri, or Sat, Oct 20th, 21st, or 22nd. Big Big problem, the Prosecutor's Conference we host for 300 people is on the 20th and 21st that I have to work and there's no way I can get up to the airport and he's not wanting to fly in later. I'm not driving an hour up to the airport that Friday after being up for 48 hours, not safe!
ARGH!!!!
OH Betty - sad news....I'm sorry to hear that.
Thank you all for the kinds words to lift me up... Dianne, LK, Betty, Thunder and all of your wonderful selves.
Got through today. My Boss's Boss also called me in to "apologize" to me but it hasn't made me feel better. Hmm....not sure that was meant.
I'm SO proud of myself ... I FINALLY Mailed Linda Kay's Cassia today ! You'd have thought I was mailing Belle to her.... and LK - I do think you will chuckle when you open the box...
Anyway - you'll have to take a pic after or "if" it 'revives' so I can see if it worked....I hope it gets there Saturday !
Tomorrow the family is leaving for Natchitoches. I'm looking forward to the trip. Need a break.
We've never taken MIL / FIL on a vacation (same car) before... so will be interesting... The kids will follow behind us....
I hope everyone had a happy Thursday. I'll pop back in a bit....
Hugs,
Mary
Hey Crissy - you tell Dave it's called a "T - A - X - I ".... LOL
LMAO Mary!!!! Unfortunately that would be about a $200 taxi ride from the airport to the house.
HELP!!! My dad's girlfriends 23 year old son is texting me and hitting on me and trying to get me to flirt with him. I think I'm going to puke!
Hmm... maybe text him back and say "This is Crissy's Husband. What is your address boy ?"
ROFLOL....
Yuck cristy ... that would make me want to puke also. LOL And I know what you mean about the $$ for the taxi but I did get a chuckle from Mary's post! grin
Mary, hope you have a wonderful week-end. I'll be thinking about you and missing you ... And I'm so glad you made it through today ... Maybe when you come back home, things will look better at work, after you're all rested up ...
Betty ... OMG that's terrible! Oh, and thanks for the explanation about Shirly. I remember her and her DH. I just forgot that's who y'all were talking about. It does make sense that admen would take that privacy stance. I'm glad they always think of things like that ...
Linda, you took the words right out of my mouth when you said that about the dog. I posted something similar but didn't hit send for fear I'd upset someone. I love my babies too much to put them through stuff like that ...
Well, today was another do-nothing day ... I have a long "honey-do" list, but so far my honey isn't doing much ... LOL
~ing for now ... Will BBL!
hahahahaha Suse!! That's great!! I'm on hold with Travelocity to change Dave's flight and they want $982.67 to do so!! I told the rep that this is a business trip and his company is paying for it and that's way way way WAY high so I don't know if they're going to be ok with it, and told him that I would have to let him know so he could tell his boss about this astronomical cost, suddenly the rep's computer refreshed and he said that the flight is way less than what it was showing a second ago so he's got me on hold checking. Funny how these things work.
WooHOOOO! After 45 minutes on the phone we only had to pay $125.06 for a change fee that will be re-reimbursed by Dave's company. I'm tired and going to bed!
Good Job Crissy ! You can definitely make MY next reservations !
