best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..
Am I actually first??? First time anywhere!!! So tell me about this craft fair. Do you sell there?
It's quite a lovely event..they start out Friday night Barm with a scarecrow contest..you find scarecrows everywhere you look, lamp posts, street corners, stores , many of the lawns all decorated! It's apple country, you can start by purchasing homemade pies/ jams, chili's etc..then on to the candle factory, great buys and not just candles, they've large tents set up to take advantage of the crowds..they've many fall and Christmas decorations and treasures you can purchase for gifts which are reasonable..then off to the arena and community center to purchase from the many crafters..always something that needs to come home with me....then around the corner to the Factory Outlet that has absolutely everything from soup to nuts..very reasonable!! Of course the main street is boutique after boutique...Then if I've any of my allowance $$$ left there is a wonderful fabric shop...often a stop in Thornbury for bushels of apples and boutiques. If lucky, taking in a few places in Collingwood...I make no plans for the evening because I'm usually plum wore out!!
Dianne was a vendor for years..probably met her ..imagine that..
That sounds like a lot of fun!
It is fun lindaKay..get the real feel of fall once you've been.
Barb, I don't sell anything I make, prefer to give it away..where is the smarts to that.
Just went to neighbors and brought them the letters I had notarized today..the needed them at the layers for Wednesday..not sure it will help them but hoping it will!
Hello to All ! Welcome Night Shift Duty :o)
Betty - I think the letters will help. I recall they do also look at stability. When we got full custody of the girls, their bioMom had had about 13 different jobs and 13 different addresses within 3 years...Hope they get a good judge...
LK - I remember Swiss Colony.... are they still open? I've not seen one in years but remember even as a teen blowing my $ on Kreme Kase cheese.... YUM... never seen it since......
Laura - glad you made the best of it... I would LOVE to visit Amish country.
Susan - Thanks for the info on Convection... I was about to say that it wouldn't brown rolls then I saw Linda Kay's comment.... so I suppose it's useful to cook for long periods of time without drying out the meat?
I sure hope when It is my turn to cook the Turkey... I will learn quickly. I've cooked about 2 in my life.... LOL.... It's usually MIL's job for now.....
Crissy - our office has been like that lately. All due to AC.... I definitely couldn't last in Betty's 5 degree weather.....
I'll check back in a bit...
Speaking of the fair / Dianne... I would LOVE to see a pic of your stained glass Dianne !

Betty did you ever get over to see the "Parade" in Meaford on Friday night?. You all would laugh yourselves silly - there is hardly anyone in the parade itself - alot of tiny wee kids but everyone has a blast - both those in the parade and those watching. DH and I used to love to watch the parade - infact if our booth wasn't set up by parade time we would say to heck with it and come back early in the morning.Meaford was one of my favourite shows to do - good time, great people and good money for us.
Spent the morning at the hospital again - saw the Radiation Oncologist today. DH will have a 1 shot radiation treatment Wednesday on his right arm - whole procedure will take about 5 hours. On Fri he sees the Pain Management/Paillitive Care doc. On Wed. Oct 5 he is to have his first radiation treatment. The whole idea of the radiation is to help with pain relief... so if there are no signs of reduced pain after 2 or 3 sessions the chemo will be terminated. There is absolutely no chance that surgery would help so the docs are just trying to make the rest of his time as pain free as possible. Due to his renal failure in 2003 and subsequent kidney damage the usual or preferred chemo meds will not be used.At this point I think Warren would agree to absolutely anything if his pain level could be reduced. He does well from the time he gets up till about 11 am and the rest of the day goes downhill from there. My heart is just breaking for him.... he has been very lucky and experienced little physical pain in his life till now
Barb and Thea I am so glad you got to spend some time together. Sounds like you all had a great visit. Thea how did your hip fare on the way home?
Mary how is your cough this week? When you were a child did you have a Whooping Cough vaccination? Like Crissy I have the darned persistant cough daily - and that is a pain in the butt. Well actually I cough so much it is a pain in my chest.
Enjoy your week Crissy!*wink*wink*
Dogs need to be brought in - the Verona and District Chorus is in full swing tonight.
Hope to BBL
Dianne
Dianne... You know I and we.... are here for you.... I read every word and although My heart goes out to you and Warren I am glad that we are here for you to share.....
I hope you are getting some "ME" time ... as you are always encouraging us to take time out for ourselves...
And here you going through so much but ask about all of us....
Mom was a Nurse so we did get all our vaccines... Dr. told me pertussis vaccine can wear down over 40+ years...but Dr. I saw 2 weeks ago gave me another vaccine.... I had some really GOOD days but a REALLY bad bout late last night...
Love the Doggy Chorus ! Maybe they are singing for Debbie.... Remember 101 Dalmations? how they sent news throughout the land ?
(HUGS))
Mary
Sure do Mary!! How could one forget that?
Dianne
Ha Dianne, try month!!! You know I will, it all starts on Thursday, hopefully *wink*wink*
Betty Dave was gone 2 weeks ago for an Interview, not training, he didn't have the job yet.
Swiss Colony usually has a booth set up inside a mall for the holidays. They're still around and I think you can order online too.
Mary, I have not seen a swiss colony store in years, but they are still online! And yes they still have that cheese!
http://www.swisscolony.com/Cheese--Meats/Cheese-/Kreme-Kaese-Cheese.pro?fpi=1498&catCd=AW
Linda Kay - THANK you for the link ! I just spent $60 at the store... ordered the Kreme Kaese cheese LOL... LOVE Dthat...
THANK YOU For the link !

Mary
Hi y'all!
Well, it's official ... I'm part of the night crew! LOL
Dianne, Hugs to you and Warren. Please tell him he's got so many prayers coming to him. I hope the treatments help with the pain level. I know this is all so difficult for you. Please remember we've got your back anytime you need to just hang out ...
Barb and Laura ... it sounds like y'all had a really terrific time.☺
Debbie, hang in there. I'm saying hi here as well because you're missed ...
Betty, our anniversary isn't until the 5th, but I pick up my recliner tomorrow. ☺ We've been married 37 years.
What I'm thankful for ...
My DH
The worse thing today is our weather tonight ... I'm gonna have to sign off again ...
What I've learned ...
You can't get much done with a DH at home on vacation.
BTW that's okay! I'll check back in when I can. ~ing to everyone for now.
Goodmorning to all.
Coffee is on.
Dianne and Warren hugs and prayers.Hoping the treatment will work. I love that movie 101 dalmations.
Debbie hope you are getting better.
Waving to all running to volunteer at the kids school.
Good morning everyone!!
I finally have some time to post and I read all the post made after Thursday…boy there was sure a lot to read…lol
First off…biggggggggggg hugs to you Debbie…I am so sorry that you are having all this trouble after your surgery…my thoughts and prayers are with you and I will post on the prayer thread as well.
Dianne…my heart just goes out to you both…please let me know if there is anything I can do for you…we are only about 2 hours away. We could even just meet for a little hug fest if you like and I know my DH would be more than willing to help with physical labour things. You both are always in my heart and prayers. Oh and I just love the idea about a Christmas swap and Warren picking the names for us!!
Betty and you can count me in for whatever Christmas craft you choose. OMG Barb showed me all the goodies she made when she was visiting you and guess what!!! I have now a piece of you here in my home!!! Barb gifted me the most beautiful wooden sleigh with the Santa!!! I am just in awe at your talent to cut the sleigh and with Barb’s talent to paint it!! Now I can`t wait for Christmas to have it displayed!!! Oh and I love the scarecrow that you are making!! Barb told me how impressed she was watching you working the saws and how fast you were like a wood working Pro!!
We just had the greatest time visiting with Barb and Norm, and we miss them already!!! Thank you Barb for posting about our trip. We sure had a Hug party when we arrived and we named all of you while hugging each other, so in spirit you were all right there with us!! The drive through NY State, Vermont and NH was just breath taking with all the fall colours starting…it felt almost like being home in Germany, going for a drive in the Black Forest.
OMG and the Fabric Store, I really had Fabric overload…lol…never seen so much fabric in my life in one place, all you quilters here would have had a ball. The same fabric I pay at my LQS 16.95 plus 13% tax is only about 9$ and NO tax at Barb’s LQS….big saving for sure. OMG and Barb’s Quilt Shop in her basement…she loaded up our car with a HUGE box of fabric…enough to last me for ages!! I was worried that with all the goodies that Barb gave us we would have trouble at customs, but we had a nice gentleman and he just wished us a great day…NO duty at all!!
Will post a few pictures of our trip. This picture we took at one of the lakes in Vermont when we stopped to stretch our legs.
Sounds like you had the perfect trip visiting Barb and Norm. Now how do you get away with paying no taxes at that fabric shop? You will have to post pictures of the items your making with all that fabric?
Betty, where are you this morning?
LindaKay...NH has no sales taxes!!! I have soooooooooo many ideas swirling in my head of what to do with that fabric...lol...in one way I am kinda looking forward to winter so I can attack the projects...lol
No kidding? I thought every state had taxes? We pay 8.25 here in Texas!
Ohhh lots to gab about today!
LindaKay, I was giving a coat of finish to my scarecrow and left early, needed to pick up bingo cards for Ann & I for tonight..maybe one Tuesday we'll get lucky..would be a good time to win, mega goodies in Meaford this weekend.
Did wake up at 3:30am , read the posts and was going to respond and I said to myself, 'self,go back to sleep', turned around and dozed off!
Thea, loved the photo's..you just gave me the nudge to go visit our Barb/Norm! OMG, which of the Victorian Sleighs did you get? Barb had loads of fun doing them and couldn't get over how easy it was..she's plenty of santa's to keep her making them, now if Norm will get that saw out! Yep, me and my tools..I'm a tool kind of gal...nothing makes me happier on birthday's, Mother's Day and Christmas than to received a tool..Roger used to love kitchen gadgets, he'd always say 'what's wrong with this picture?' lol I couldn't believe the material she brought me either..I was in 7th heaven!!!! You are right, all the local fabric shops here, other than Fabricland (which doesn't have great fabrics prints) and are anywhere between $16.98 to $24.98 and taxes...so, you really have to think out the project and only buy what is needed, not often do I purchase material just to stock my shelves..thank God for my American pals.
I'll have to check with Barb, think she wanted Victorian Santa faces..got 20 poured and they should be dry enough for me to bring in tomorrow and paint, then I'll ship... so if anyone other than LindaKay (have her order) wants any, say the word!
Suse, you'll be sitting pretty tonight! Just think with hubby home you'll be able to have him move things around..seems whenever I get new furniture the entire room calls for changes..have fun..that's a lot of years Suse..congratulations.
SwissColony, never heard of that store..you mean I missed one? Have to go check the link.. laughing at Mary, didn't take her long to spend some $$$ once she visited the site.
Crissy, blame it on old age..I thought he went to the interview, got the job, came home to pack some rags and back for training..thought it was nice he could come home weekends..must have made that senerio up..lol
Dianne, no haven't been to the parade..Melanie (DIL) mom and dad lives in Meaford so she and the kids spend the weekend and participate in the parade..think this year Kyle/Noah are bringing their big bikes.. small time parades are loads of fun..actually I started a parade in PortSevern/Honey Harbour when I was Recreation Director and the funny part was, we had so many participants and floats that while travelling our 3 mile route there was hardly any viewers..
I didn't participate in the floats but spent many an hour making Santa/Mrs. Santa/elves/clown outfits..oooh just remembered, Halloween is coming up, always make costumes for 4 kids, last year down to 2, nobody mentioned costumes when they were up last week, but then they usually as the week before..best I be prepared. (got off track here)
Boohoo Dianne that you aren't a vendor..just think, could visit with you...are there any vendors that you worked along side that I could seek out and say hi for you?
Wow, that's a lot of travelling for Warren isn't it? and yourself of course..let's hope you don't get run down..
Mary, I'm just not very confident in the custody courts..you hear so many horror stories..just like this young tot..grandparents and father looking after her and her wanting for nothing, then given custody to a single mother who moves from place to place, no parents to support her etc. often out running roads/dating ..just doesn't seem right..
I look at all my Christmas blocks from 2010 and 2011 swaps, all the Christmas Charms and am thinking now what can I do..like you Thea, almost asking for snow..slap me silly, just kidding Mother Nature! But I do want to do something..Suzanne has been looking for a bright red Christmas quilt, love making her something special because she's always doing something for someone so just maybe I will find border/backing fabric and make her one..with leftovers could make a throw, always someone on my Christmas list that would appreciate it..
Hmm our taxes, the harmonized tax system is 13%..
Morning Betty, looks like you got up with your running shoes on! Hope you got some lucky tickets for tonight?
Some mornings are like that LindaKay..this is the time of year my mind start working overtime..for years it was organize fall programs/events, fall/christmas workshops at home etc. and so I'm into looking at pattern packets, looking at calendar trying to schedule the many events..i.e. Meaford Craft show, Markham Craft show, Hamburg N.Y. craft show..shopping trip - 4 days with the girls, early christmas with the family etc. and not many more weekends left..
LK there are several states who don't have sales tax, and the rates are determined per county, not per state. Nevada doesn't have sales tax either. I don't remember the others, I think Alaska doesn't and there's another one that doesn't, I'm thinking Oregon but that's not right.
Betty you know that I don't want him home, if he was flying back and forth from California to Arkansas on the weekends I would be having a cow.
Has anyone heard from Debbie?
Well I didn't want to hit send yet. lol
Dianne I really hope this makes him feel better, poor guy. Lots and lots of love for both of you!
Crissy, you are too funny!
Just finished my work for the day, helped Suzanne out, checked out Joann's sales (ohh want to go but weekend is all taken up)..
Now it's movie time..if for no other reason just love my ipad..
I've been busy this afternoon, looks as though everyone else has been...so quiet!
I don't know how I lost all of the threads....but I found you!
Dianne, lots of hugs and prayers for you and Warren. One day at a time...all we can do.
Thea so enjoyed your trip and pictures! I am doing lots of "visualizing" and that helps with what I see in your pictures.
Crissy...You keep me posted! Bored out of my mind....miss our chats.
Betty, yoou had total chaos this last month....guests, traveling, all that...and Cathy knows you adore her! No worries for you.
I updated the news on Prayer thread....really do not want to bring it all over here. Although I am feeling some sensations, not much new with movement progress. BUT I am working hard to do it all right.
Hugs to you all....miss you so much!
Debbie
What joy seeing you post Debbie..we've been so worried about you!!!
Off to read your prayer forum..in the meantime sending you big hugs..
wow, client just came in..
wanted to say Debbie, that there is no excuse for one to forget something as important..not a day goes by that Cathy doesn't do a little something for me or the furries..anything asked, she's there so this had really made me feel badly.
I will do special things on Saturday and treat her to a treasure..
I'm hoping your children and husband realize just how important you are to the household and all you do for them and will make sure that things go easy for you in the next while.
They better Deb or we will come get you ourselves.......We certainly do love and appreciate you!!!!!
Hugs back to you Debbie.....ditto to what Barb said.
Hmmm listening to debate for upcoming elections..was going to give opposing party my vote..listening to the candidate run the present leader down on every issue, always saying what the leader has not done vs what he would do just turned me off...know what the other party has or not done..I'm looking in the debate to see what options there are...maddening.
Remember going to the exhibition ions ago looking at mechanical beds, one salesman showed me what his line had to offer, the other saleman went on to tell me what was wrong with the others bed and nothing about his..annoyed both Roger and I so much, we ordered beds from salesman # 1. Even though he was a few hundred dollars higher..
Best I get off my soapbox
Hello To All ! Welcome Night Shift !
I'm with you there Betty - To me... they need to talk about what they CAN do not what the other candidate Cant do..... Sad to hear about that custody case. Ours didn't turn out ideal but they didn't just hand the girls over to the mother for sake of being a mother... Thank god...
Yes - Ya'll can call me Cheesy Mary... I ordered $ of the Kreme Kase cheese last night thanks to LK... then saw some summer sausage and had to have... comfort food I suppose reminds me of Christmas snacks growing up...
Thea LOVE your pics.... the first one looks SO peaceful ... it reminds me of my serene morning walks with Dianne......
I think Disneyworld has no sales Tax for folks from other countries.... LOL
SO GLAD To see you 'back' here Deb.... Hoping they get to the bottom of this quickly and the family is behaving...
Can't wait to see a pic of you in your new recliner Suse !
I'll pop back in a bit... ((HUGS))
Mary
Mary, are you kidding about no tax at Disneyworld or is this a ploy to get us there?? Lol
Ann just left, yikes her foot is blue and swollen, not sure these boot casts work as well as regular casts..Drats needed 0-67 and they called 6 numbers before a winner called in..oh well, not my time to win.
Cathy called, she is still I'll, dr told her today it could be the change of life..oh happy days!
How long before your order comes in Mary?
Awe Betty - I would never fib about Disney...
But Disney also gives all Canadian visitors free Fabric. And Plants for everyone. And a puppy to anyone from New York.........and.......
So sorry for Ann.... maybe she needed to slow down as well.....
You will win Bingo next week... I just KNOW it...... How old is Cathy?
I suppose my order will take 7-10 days.... about as long as it will take for you all to get here and enjoy a Cheese and Sausage party with me ! (Yes - you KNOW I have the wine too)
((HUGS))
Mary, glad you liked the link, but I did not mean for you to spend$$$. But the cheeses from there are so good!
Betty, sorry to hear about Ann's foot looking so bad! has she been back to the Dr. for a follow up?
