Maybe this URL for Ring Neck Pheasant will help. It looks likely to me.
Def. a pheasant!
A predator grabbed the tail......
yep, pheasants.
Sampson has just been diagnosed with hyperthyroid. The cure is a radiation treatment that costs in the realm of $ 2,000. There are two medications to treat it and I am going with treatment until I get paid for teaching next Spring (fingers crossed that I my class makes.) I am also going to ask for help from my neighbor's family who did say at the time I took him that they would help with medical bills. I know that financial situations have changed since then - but they still may be willing to come up with something so I can get the surgery sooner. In the end it will be fun to see this big Maine Coon at weighing more than 12 - 13 pounds!
Whoa....big bucks to treat that poor guy! Hope the radiation works .....
The radiation works 98% of the time.
Hope the treatments work out for Sampson, Memory. It is so hard when our babies need expensive help, isn't it? I really feel for you. Sending a hug to Sampson!
Sherrie - sorry to hear that xena is having problems. Hugs to her too!
Just got a new 0% interest credit card online. He will get his treatment very soon now. (I love 0% interest credit cards.)
You're a good Mom, Memory....Sherrie, sorry about Xena....our pets get old & senile, too.....
Samson is beautiful. I pray the radiation works.
Not to plug anything, but we got a Care Credit account to use for major vet bills. No interest if paid off within 6 months. Used it for Daisy's demise and Buster's initial vet bills. It has worked out pretty well for us. It is specifically for vet bills and some doctors and dentist accept it as payment as well.
Care Credit account - that is good to know about.
Xena is driving us nutz at night. Around 2 am she starts being uneasy and then it turns into going out in the living room and barking at the wind. Back in the bed going around in circles and then barking at the wind.
I couldnt take no more getting up at 2 or 3. So off to the vets we go.
She has an eye disease where light is not getting in or starting. Will make dogs uneasy and miserable and eventually blind.
She has arthritis in her right hind leg which will hurt her and make her uncomfortable. Starting with some pain meds to see if it help to keep her down at night. If that dont work try some Glyosamene (sp) to help put some liquid back into the joints. If that dont work>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
You dont want to know what I will say: In other words put earplugs in

I'd start her on the Glucosamine no matter what. It can't hurt and Trader Joe's has it very reasonable.
Trader Joe's: http://www.traderjoes.com/
I take Glucosamine for my severe osteoarthritis and it helps a bit. Is there one specially formulated for pets?
There is and it is called cosequin. I buy it for my cats because it has tuna flavor - but they will take the powder mixed into the food just as well. Trader Joe's only has pills - so I went to the health food store and bought the capsules and opened them up and put it on the food. For a dog - I would just buy the least expensive brand and hide the pills in a treat or mix them with the food if you have one who wolfs his/her food.
Not happy news, Sherrie.
I swear by Cosequin too. I even give it to our puppies because their breed is prone to ligament problems and hip dysplasia. Since our girls are so into heavy running and racing, the vet suggested we give them a preventative dose of it every other day. It gave us a few extra years with our golden retriever when his hip dysplasia came on. He lived to 15 comfortably. Good luck with Xena, Sherrie!
Bailey & Carli got a visit with their sister today. She was walking by and I went out and puppy-napped her for awhile. They all went nuts to see each other. It was fun. Check out Hank's hair in this shot! We had just come in from the wind outside. lol
What fun! I'd call that a pile of poodles!
I'm going to look for Cosequin. I've always forgotten to ask the vet and our big dog is still rather young, but surely you start the supplements at some point.
Yes, lots of fun, Rosemary! They are bichons, but people often think they are poodles. I keep our girls' ears shorter, but they still are taken for poodles. Their sister, Roxie Pauline, looks more like a poodle because of her longer ears. She is hysterical....she walks down the street on her hind legs like a circus dog. Our girls missed that gene, apparently.
I do think that Cosequin helps more if you start them on it before the joints get too stiff.
Definitely looks like fun
Good luck Sherrie,
So, it's a beautiful bunch of Bichons. Great picture. ☺
Thanks! Our Carli is in purple and Bailey is in red; their sister was happy to see us all! :)
good luck Sherrie.. hope all goes well
Louise what a great photo!!
I agree.....that photo is a keeper, wind-blown locks & all!
Thanks!! Now you know why my idea of Heaven is a place where I will sit on the floor and be surrounded and covered by puppies! And none of them have accidents!! lol
that works for me!!!
When the kids go off to college, Cliffie ought to have a companion...
*tap tap tap* Waiting for cat to pee in *special* litter box so I can take a sample to the vet. Just how much tuna soup can one little bladder hold?

Check out this site. Today there's a Jack Russell Terrier playing catch with himself. They put new posts on all the time.
LOL, Memory.. Your post made me laugh!
Cute link, Rosemary! Thanks for posting that!
Cat won the game of bladder chicken. I caved first. But next Saturday I have even a better plan to get the sample!
Sold scrap gold today and got half the money for his Radioactive Iodine treatment. Completely justifies all the tag and estate sales I go to!
