NE Pets forum #17
yummy!
Tough Sherry. A bit of air freshner in the house? Probably a LARGE bit.
How is the dog getting out?
if you can.. wash him outside next time.. guessing that's why the house stinks
saw another skunk this morning, daylight, it went into a drain pipe under a driveway
I noticed a lot flattened on the roads lately...they must be on the move....
Same here Robin, at least there are no babies waiting for them to come home at this time of year.
Anybody ever meet an Australian Cattle Dog? I had the extreme pleasure of meeting one once. Not so sure I would want to own one. While on the beach, we talked with the owners of one, who were there with their one year old child. Jack mentioned that before they know it they will be dealing with their child sneaking out with the car. They both laughed and said they were more worried about the dog sneaking out with the car. Very smart, very active dogs. My dog, Casey, loved their dog, I think because they both ran like the wind up and down the beach instead of that stupid swimming thing the rest of the dogs were doing :)
Sherrie, how awful! Maybe Mr. G likes the smell of skunk.
Yes, Jen, that Aussie Shepherd dog's owner was definitely in good shape.
Karen
there was a couple who breed them that traveled to the horse shows Weeze.. very cool dogs.. they did have that look like there was human processing going on in there heads
The only time I met an Aussie Cattle Dog was at Lollipop Farm...the ASPCA in Rochester, NY.....3 had been turned in, they were very unhappy about it, very snarly and aggressive.....hopefully someone with a farm adopted them....
I liked the corgie puppies more
I LOVE Corgi puppies!!!!!!!!!!!
My sis has an Australian Kelpie, does that count?
Corgis are smart dogs...our friends that own the dairy farm have one...
drove to Delaware for that horse show... didn't want to ride.. just play with the puppies
Sounds like a fun day, Allison....I'm heading to a dog show tomorrow.....
The dog psychologists say that dogs can't plan ahead. If that's so, why, when my dog steals bread would he set it by his food bowl? Purely stimulus-response, or instinct of the pack?
My DS makes up all sorts of thought balloons for Cliffie, eg-- sitting on his poof, he dreams he is a butterfly, but then meditates that maybe he's a butterfly dreaming he's a dog. .. somebody's home!! go welcome them! Then back to the meditation...
On the subject of pets thinking - - I thought you all might enjoy this series of cat comics. http://www.mickeyhasashorttail.com/ There is a new one everyday.
Cute. My DS will be disappointed he didn't invent the idea.
We just had a horse stop by for a visit, I love country living
Nice dog show, but very small compared to previous years....I think the economy is keeping folks from spending the fees to enter the smaller venues. Met some lovely wolfies & their families, picked the winners of the 1st 3 groups....met a Bracco Italiano for the 1st time.....think Basset on long legs....pretty dog, but barked & drooled the whole time I spoke to owner.....talked to the fellow handling the airedale.....he handled the dogs for the woman whose kennel Robbie came from......
Meant to say how cute the cat cartoon was....thanks, Memory....
Bassets can be noisy & are wanderes. They also like to howl. We had cockers & DH grew up with labs. My cousin had a basset, very sweet, but luckily they lived in the country as they do roam.
Shirley Basset???? ^_^
cousin's basset was 'Jane' as they knew someone named 'Jane Basset'.
This Bracco had the worst bark.....loud & sharp!
Here's that horse(his name is Jabby short for Jabberwocky) that will be visiting us from now on since he knows we have carrots
Here he is on youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGHz4XuvGog
They will be friends for life......
visiting on his own?
OMG Jen is that the sweetest thing!!!
The girl said "he now knows the house"
stock up on sugar cubes & carrots
:)
Beautiful horse!!
I haven't been in too many stables but from the looks of those- they are really nice!
Yes, they are.....
Went to an auction a couple weeks ago and took both dogs. It was a sunny hot day so I had to keep taking them out of the truck and letting them cool down. So, it was towards the end of the day and I had them both out on a leash talking to an older gent.
Next thing I see a dog running towards me. I look right, look left and said OH $#!&. Since I had both dogs I knew I was toast. I let Xena go and I went down on the ground. Next I was getting pulled across the grass by
MR G.
I heard a guy say I WILL HELP YOU. He grabbed his leash and said. THAT IS ONE BLEEPING STRONG DOG! I couldnt let go of the leash as it was wrapped around my hand. Morel of the story is the other dog should of been on a leash.
oh geez, that must have been a sight!
Yes, dogs are strong, even the little ones can pull! One of the reasons I'm not getting another airedale, along with about 100 other reasons.....
