Cliffie is so handsome! Sherrie, Pixie is right....you are doing the right thing, you can't let your dog suffer....having just gone through this, I'm still missing Robs terribly, but you do what's best for the dog....

Right decision to not let them suffer

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I agree.

Amherst, NY(Zone 6a)

I also agree, Sherrie, and will be praying for your family.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sorry to hear.

South Hamilton, MA

Always a tough situation to take. Pets are great companions, but a shorter life span is the down side.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Got the urine sample! Boy can that cat hold it and then he puts out a huge volume! Actually - this may not be good.

Thomaston, CT

Oh, dear...hope he's OK....

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I think I might not be OK - just drove to Stamford and back to drop off the sample in a snowstorm!

Thomaston, CT

Good thing you made it safely! Son tried to get down here, but had to turn back....too many accidents.

She is not down yet. Not sentimenal here but struggling along. Almost agian Almost rather put me down and not my best friend. Hard hard decision. I am struggling. My heart is and eyes are crying. Good grief.

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Heartbreaking when a devoted friend is ill, and this one doesn't have actual words to tell about it. I'm sorry it's so hard, Sherri.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

My heart is with you, Sherrie.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Thinking of you, Sherrie....it is such a painful place to be in, and my heart goes out to you.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Beautiful dog, Doug! I'd rather see him driving than most of the drivers on the roads these days! Ummmm, as long as he doesn't talk on his cell phone or text! LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - did you hear about that poor dog who survived the gas?!! Lots of people want to adopt.

3:45 pm and my dog Xena after many long years will be gone at 5:00 pm today. I said it was gonna be done friday and now tuesday. Jim will take her away. If you could only see me now through the computer monitor. I am very very weak and sensitive.

In other words balling my freaking eyes out. What the hell I can still type

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

So sorry, Sherrie.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Sherrie, I know how you feel....and im sorry you have to go thru this. Spend the next hour with her and let her go knowing it is the right thing. Hugs friend. (((Sherrie)))

I cant spend the next hour. I let her go at 2 pm. She has had a normal day plus a bone. Just let me go and carry on. I am balling my eyes out to let her go. Once gone I know she will be in a better place.

Xena mommy loves you - your the best girl in the whole house.

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Rest in peace, Xena.

Now we look up into the stars at night, and in the morning towards the sun to rise, and help your garden grow. Mom we will be togather again.

Mommy will be there one day my best freind.

(((((hugs))))) so sorry Sherrie

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

So very sorry to hear Sherrie. A part of a poem that I've shared before, that honors our dogs and their relationship with us so well

Therefore to this dog will I,
Tenderly not scornfully,
Render praise and favor:
With my hand upon his head,
Is my benediction said
Therefore and forever.

Remember, she will be in your heart forever as you have been and always will be in hers.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

so sorry to hear that Sherrie.. hugs!

Thanks all, I had a very hard time. Not, one to say I did, but I cried and was a wreck. Its over now.
Mr. G is Lonley! Another dog? Puppy to give him company?

So I am back :-)

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Of course you cried a lot, Sherrie, and with good reason. Been thinking about you. Hugs to you and Jim and Mr. G.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Two puppies!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Been there, done that! Thankfully, the time and patience I hadn't counted on has paid off 2 years later. :)

South Hamilton, MA

An older dog might be better. When I brought another cocker spaniel in the house my older one ignored her. Funny when the pup was older she would ignore a younger dog. 'Puppy, what puppy' with her nose in the air.

I would like a dog with no home and about 2 years old. Medium size to large 60 lbs and has energy. One that is house trained and give Mr. a run for his money. I dont think its going to happen with my age and I am looking for a stinking job. Butttt...................... you never know.

still got tears reading the posts. where did they go when my mother, Roxie (the dog) and Jims cat went, all in one year? I gotta admit Xena was my KID.
