Ahhhh, I want to be there as well, let's see, if I got dressed real quick, I could be there for the evening..now why didn't I think of that before tracing out my scarecrow??
Do enjoy yourselves..know there will be lots of laughs..
Norm, did they bring you morning coffee?
Best/worse/what did I learn today? Chat with friends..
"Three pretty looking chicks there" as my nephew who is now 51 learned to say almost before he could walk. To my sweet sister's mortification he could also come up with a couple of other expressions such a "Va,va boom","watcha doing later baby?"
How is Norm enjoying his new job? Hope the winter will be kind to him as he travels around.
Mary hope nice weather holds for your gathering today.Everyone of us here on this thread sure wished they could join you I am sure. Might be a good reason for Debbie to use to get get out of that hosptal.
~~~~ to all . Keep your head down everybody. the duck hunters are out in full force this morning.
Dianne
Good morning!
Diane and all...Heres the link to Prayer forum for Debbie!
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1221649/
ok I'll be back in a few...
Dianne, Sailor was going crazy earlier, came upstairs to dermis someone was at the door, nope, made a hot chocolate and heard the gun shots..now I'm on the edge of town, no reason they should be shooting so close..especially with bike trail nearby and kids riding bikes and skate boards. Laughing at your nephew, heard many of those phrases, much more acceptable than some used today!
DIL Melanie just dropped in, seems it's put away summer clothing and out with fall clothing day at her house! Came with mending but just too far gone for repair..but I did go through all the drawers in the kids room and lordy she was excited, Kyle must have had 5 pairs of blue jeans, undies and socks...a few of Noah's jeans but she said he is going through a phase, only black jeans for him. Lol. He'd be going naked if he lived here because the jeans she took home are almost new!
Got my scarecrow cut, $30.00 worth of wood does it, now comes the staining..looking for ways to make the project easier..not that I'm lazy but don't need a scarecrow at Christmas and that is about how long it would take to paint if I did detail..
Couch bound for a bit longer, washed the floors and must sit till they dry!
Looking at the clock, just after 9:30.. Making great strides..
So what are you all up to?
Morning everyone!
Betty, the scarecrow I made is for a swap, it will be going out in the mail in a few days!
Wow, has plywood gone up again. Last time we bought some, it was $20.00 a sheet. Guess everything is going up in price?
Barb, looks like your all having a good time! Give them hugs from us please?
Dianne, hope you got some sleep last night, and hubby is doing OK today!
Morning Judy! What are you up to today?
Hope everyone else is having a good day too!
LindaKay, didn't end up with plywood..had to purchase 1" x12" pine, 2 (8' pieces) and must tell you wasn't much left over..called for route ring edges except for his pants..think 2 have at least 3" of sawdust all over..just cleaned it up, great excuse for dusting..knew I should have done it outside..stained all the pieces now it's sit and watch paint dry..likely won't be able to paint much today..maybe pants, crows but not much more..have some mending to do, posting of charms and quilt blocks, which need done so before you know Saturday will be over without much being done that is visual.
I'll have to take a photo of him setting pretty in pieces..sure wish I had plaid for his shirt..doubtful though!
Ohhh someone is going to be thrilled getting the scarecrow but aren't you terrified about shipping it?? I did a frog flowerpot and shipped,,,think it was okay but I didn't have 2 that were glued together...after all that hard work, could you hand deliver. Lol
Hello To All !
Well right about an hour away from Gardening Guests...so just popping in to say hello !
Beautiful day if it doesn't get too hot... and my Rum Runner surprised me with many blooms...
Going to heat up the pulled pork and light some mosquito candles...
((HUGS))
Mary
Have a great day Mary. Glad they opened for you!
I will make sure the box is packaged with lots of peanuts. I would be upset if it arrived broken.
Good morning everyone!!
I'm worried about Debbie, she's all I can think about this morning. Think I'll call Paul in a little while.
Mary I SSOOOOOO wish I could be there, but the timing just didn't happen.
Dianne I hope Warren is feeling better, you're on my mind also.
Betty LOL about all the crafts! It's about crafting season for me! YAY!
(((((((((((((((((JUDY))))))))))))))))))))
Cute!! Scarecrows!!
Well I have bacon on the stove and need to get Dave making the biscuits.
Had originally planned making a smaller version for the Halloween swap but more and more I'm getting feedback about joining swaps because being in Canada it's more expensive for shipping..recently took my name off one of them, sooo I promised myself I'd participate quietly by pretending I'm in a swap, search for pretties or make pretties, oooh and ahhhh and keep them for myself..
Already have a box full of things for my neck of the woods, think I'll have some friends over to enjoy them in a few weeks..rarely do we appreciate some of our own treasures..lol
Shortly this scarecrow will stand in front of the house, sums surrounding it, sign saying
''happy fall you all!". Know the kids will love him...
His pants have patches and rather than paint I'll podgy them from the most gorgeous fall charms I received..
LindaKay, you should make another pot scarecrow for yourself..
Making craft dinner for lunch (real treat) then look for a sewing project to keep me busy while stain dries..ordered online the cutest apron for a little girl that has a pocket for crayons..have a few little nieces who would love them! Could at least get them cut out..
Got 8 faces out of the molds, they can now dry, will pour another 8 so that I can bring them to work Monday and paint!
So busy I am. Lol
Crissy, if you do call, let us know asap..she's been on my mind as well! Frustrating living hours away and not be able to do a hospital visit. Will have to save it for when I'm in buffalo in a few weeks..
Water is boiling, need to stand near the stove so I don't overcook or burn
Betty, love that scarecrow! Can't wait to see it finished!
Don't drop out of the swap. I for one am not afraid of the cost for postage!
Halloween I didn't sign up for, your neck of the woods, took my name off..will stick to mailing little fabric blocks which I can't wait to use
Debbie was playing games on facebook :) so I figure she has a laptop ?? or i pad/pod?? at the hospital...and is feeling well enough to play.. :)
Betty I understand what you mean about feedback about the cost of shipping to Canaada, I used to look forward to a couple of the Christmas swaps but in the end withdrew my name. Mind you the persons complaining did it just to me after I wrote thanking them for their gift. Decided not to enter more swaps for that reason alone. And LK I know there are more people out there thinking your way then the other.
I was not a part of this thread at this time last year so I want to take just a sec to tell you all how welcome you make me feel.Thank you from the bottom of my heart.Did you have a surprize Christmas gift swap on this thread last year? If you did I would like to join - if you didn't what do you think about having 1 this year ? We would soon need to get skedadling if we want this for Christmas of 2011. Yahs or Nays? I will organize it if you like, I can have my sweet DH draw the names out of a bag so I too can be surprized at who is matched to who or is that whom????? We would need a price limit though in order to make the playing field equal.What do you all think??
All going well Warren starts Chemo the first week in October. Shocking isn't it after all the denying of treatment he made, isn't it? The Oncologist called in the Head of the Cancer Clinic to talk to DH and I. He was very blunt yet compassionate in what he had to say and I then Warren appreciated that. The Chemo is NOT to prokong Warren's life but to help alleviate all of the pain he is in. There is nothing they can operate on, there is just too much but the Oncologists are hoping the Chemo will shrink some of the tumours thus making him in less pain. So it is all about the quality of his life and helping get rid of the pain.After a couple of treatments if there is no obvious sign the chemo is working the treatments would be stop. Before DH can have chemo though his kidneys have to be checked thoroughly - he was in renal failure in 2003 and some kidney damage occured. If things aren't OK there will be no treatment at all.
How is your meeting going Mary? I am sitting here wishing I could be there!!
Went to our very teeny tiny Farmers' Market here in the village. Thought it would be good for DH to get out and about. Now home he is in horrendous pain but I think it has more to do with him almost falling to the floor last night.DH stepped on Quill's tail trying to pass between her and the dining room table.He grabbed a chair and used that as a leverage to hold him up but in the end think he did more harm than good. Of course if he had fallen to the floor it would have been quite a challenge to get him up on his feet again. Anyway I diverge while the market had very few vendors the things that were there were fantastic. Debbie turn your head here please for a sec... I got a whole rabbit to roast. Also got a jar of lemon marmalade , a jar of Berry Jam (Blueberry, raspberry, blackberry) jar of Grape Jam for DH's stocking. We are just going ahead and planning that he will be well enough to enjoy opening our stockings. Also got Mrs Oomenn's homemade Whole Wheat bagels - without a word of a lie they are literally the best I have ever eaten in my life. Plus the lady who makes outstanding Scones was there. I got Lemon/cranberry and some Cheddar scones. The cheddar are history - they were so good Warren ate 2 of them Whoooo Hooooo.
Need to get Storm in there is a lot of T and L out there.
BBL
Dianne
Yep Thunder Paul brought in his laptop for Debbie to use.
Ohhhh/oooooh that would be fun Dianne, put my name down, USA or Canadian participant gladly wanted...how much fun would that be!
What we did for 4 years which includes many of the other thread participants is a DG Christmas Craft workshop.... year 1, Victorian Santa Sleigh's, year 2, Victorian Santa's, year 3, combo of snowmen and santa's, 4th year, snowman in wonderland of trees...
Getting ideas for this year our 5th...so will be posting in the next few weeks...
But your idea of a Christmas swap for us hear has me so excitited, can hear my heart thumping...as long as it's NOT too much for you!
Thunder, my main concern on the other thread it was said that she had no feeling in lower legs...I'm antzy now, needing to know how she is doing...if Crissy doesn't give us an update shortly think I'll find my telephone book and call her house/her cel...anyone on facebook that catches her on, please tell her we are panicking..could be one of the kids or Paul playing could it not?
It's such a nice fall day here Dianne, colored leaved on the ground (soon time for raking) that I should have been as ambitious as you and Warren and gone for a ride, first choice is always Meaford from here the view is stunning but the Applefest and Craft show is next Saturday so will wait..
Poor Warren, sometimes you can get hurt more trying to stop yourself from falling than falling. Are you feeling good about Warren having Chemo..guess anything that lessons the pain you are for!
Hmmm thunder?? means your weather is turning, don't sent it my way please! Ground is so soggy from all the rain this week, but talk about green.
Have a few groceries to pick up, waiting till later this evening to go out, just incase something else comes to mind...
I've got 4 blackbirds waiting to be painted upstairs, basecoat on some of the scrarecrows and another batch of santa's poured...that time of year I start feeling like Santa's Workshop...
Ahhh remember the other night I told you Darren next door who has been looking after his grandaughter along with Theresa his wife and father of Sonya, Kyle??? Well he came over awhile ago, couldn't talk for tears, apparently Theresa is off work today, can't stop her crying..
They had all the paper work done for court on Friday, were enthusiastic that things would go their way..
Mother of the child asked if she could spend a few hours with the Sonya (which she hasn't done but a couple of times these past 3 months) and Theresa thought it would be in her favor to allow her a visit with Sonya as she does any time the mothers asks for visits..
Bad choice,
Mother didn't bring Sonya back, when the petition was read and judge asked who the child was with, the mom said herself, as she has been the last few months..lie/lie/lie...I feel so badly for them and the child..
So Darren asked if I'd have my comments that I gave him notorized (?) and given to him by Tuesday night..they have an emergency hearing October 10th...Paul has the stamp and legally can do so, he's in the office on Monday so will have him do it for me..
It's these poor children that pay don't they?
so far...
A smile - is a sign of joy.
A hug - is a sign of love.
A laugh - is a sign of happiness..
And a friend like me??
Shucks, that's just a sign of good taste!!
We'll be friends until we are old and senile. Then we'll be new friends.
did not know of the "no feeling" in Deb's legs !!! I guess anyone could be on her account and playing??
last post on face book was 3 hours ago.??
Go to the prayer thread. Debbie has posted there!
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1221649/#new
Dianne, sending prayers for you guys too, that all the test will come out good, so Warren can go ahead and get some treatment to try and alleviate his pain!
Dianne, add my name to the pot for a Christmas swap, I would love to be involved!
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1220315/
Go here and look what I got in the Halloween swap.
She just posted on the prayer thread, yikes, scary situation for sure..they aren't sure as to what caused the lack of feeling, but where do they go from here..feel so badly for Debbie! THIS she did not need..guess all that remains for any of us to do is PRAY..can't go wrong doing that!
LindaKay, went and looked at all your Halloween pretties..
Liz sure is one talented lady!! Halloween is her and Lenny's favorite time of year..they are both like little kids..her yard is the showplace of her neighborhood!
just had a little visitor, Noah dropped in on his way home..seems he spent his hard earned cash for some kind of trick bike...anxious to show me! Said he'd spent all afternoon trying to do 180's..all I could see is a bank account minus $900 and a future filled with broken bones. I'm an old grandma so guess that is where my thoughts go!! For Noah, it's the cats meow!
Didnt get as much done this afternoon as I had company off/on, Cathy, next door neighbors, Melanie and now Noah...so will set my scarecrow aside for yet another day!
Those bikes can be dangerous, but fun at the same time.
Not a very big bike, lightweight..No sense fretting kids just say no danger..guess you have same with your grandkids! We worry too much!
Yawning here,almost tempted to call it a night..
Hello To All !
Wow - I try to remember all my "Answers" and poof... didn't make notes as I usually do. Dianne... I would love to do a Christmas Swap with you ladies... I have never done a swap before... However... you have to remember I am NOT crafty... so could it be something not specific? I think I know folks on here good enough to buy something good... and stay within the determined range. So I am "IN"... just don't make me "MAKE" something or someone will get a pile of junk LOL....
RE Warren. I am sending huge HUGS For you...
Betty - LOVE your scarecrow... it looks HUGE....
Hope you had a good day today LK... DEBBIE ((HUGS)) I'll go read that prayer thread next.....
Well - I had a wonderful day. Only 2 ladies showed up ...the master Gardener Jeri (on DG) and her friend Mary. This was the FIRST day I got to show my backyard to a gardener... Master Gardener at that. And I LEARNED so much - hope I didn't bug her with all my questions.
Hubs pointed out that if I had EIGHT show up as planned... I wouldn't have had a chance to enjoy as much as I did.... They got here right at 12n and next thing...we looked at each other and it's 3PM !!!! Good thing I showed Jeri my backyard before I saw pictures of HERS... because I was very humbled... she has a True Paradise.... only negative part of the day was that Belle did not behave and jumped on folks and I had to tie her up.
Sent Jeri home with a cutting of my Rum Runner and she wants another cutting (Sea Grape) which I'll do tomorrow.... and she left me two Bromeliads and a Plumeria, and Mary left a Saints floor mat that Hubs will LOVE....
Hubby finally came home ....
I'll pop back in a bit... going to read Deb's prayer thread....
Warm day today - 33c - and now we're home from the Fall Supper at our church, we're going to watch a movie and enjoy ourselves!
Hi y'all!
Okay, finally got here ...
Hand waving ... I want in the swap too! I was waiting to see if there was someone else that wasn't crafty gettin in. LOL I'll have to do something store bought, but if that's okay, then I'll join. ☺
Mary, you dirty dog ... I'm so jealous that you got to meet Jeri! She's such a sweet person! So glad you had a nice day.
Dianne, I'm glad Warren has decided to give chemo a try. I pray it gives him some pain free days ... I hope you've been able to get some rest. Was sorry to hear he almost fell last night.
Barb, so thrilled for you and Thea ... Hope you got lots of hugs for all of us. ☺
Debbie, posting here also so when you come back you'll see it. You're being missed!
Betty, I'm glad I don't have kids ... I have enough reasons to make my hair turn gray. Oh, and that's a sad situation about Sonya
I got my hair cut this morning, and then the DH took me furniture shopping. He bought me a new reclimer for our anniversary ... It's nothing fancy, but I like it. I'll get it on Tuesday. Our anniversary isn't until the 5th.
Okay, need to check on Debbie ...
Hey Susan ! ♪♫♪♫ What movie are you watching tonight?
Oh Suse ! I'm usually the one who is jealous ! Barb & Thea, Judy and Thunder... Betty and everyone up north...and beyond....
so today I got to meet my SECOND DG person...... I just hope they like me... as well...
I was truly so nervous....
But immediately we launched into conversation and did not stop until 3 hours later...
What a great anniversary pressie ! Don't tell DH as he has been hinting for a recliner for years....
What forum do you know Jeri from ? She was really awesome... I felt like royalty visiting me... which is how I will feel *when* BETTY finally graces my home with her presence...
((HUGS))
Mary
Mary, I have seen pictures of her Garden, and like said, it is a paradise!
Glad to hear you all had a good time!
Linda Kay - my little back yard pales in comparison... Her back yard has been on the local "Pond Tour" for 13 years ! DH and I have been on that "tour" and I can't for the life of me imagine why we've not been up there to see it !
Probably because we have only done the tour in One day....and we always tried to see as many yards as possible... and hers is a bit of a trek out of town.....
I told her I couldn't wait to see her yard and she said I could come see it so I'm excited that Maybe I can sometime soon..... she said she woudl probably not do the pond tour again...
It was a good day...
Mary - the movie was Soul Surfer, and I HIGHLY recommend it! It's based on a real life story, where a surfing teenaged girl gets her arm bitten off by a shark and the way she lives her life before and afterwards - it's inspiring!!!
See it!!!!!
Early morning all, can't sleep so decided to get up..no sense tossing and turning..tummy is churning as well..I'm worrying about our Debbie!!!
Mary, how disappointing the others did not make it. Sure hope they gave you enough notice that you didn't cook for all...Ooooo Jeri's gardens sound like paradise..I'm sure she's saying same about yours. Don't you get a warm fuzzy feeling when you meet your online friends?
Suse, you are one spoilt lady...sure hope hubby doesn't want you to share the lazyboy..they are so comfy..I'd have me one except I'd be afraid that is where I'd spend most of my days/night! An early "Happy Anniversary to you and hubby" how many years?? should go back and check, likely you mentioned it..
Christmas swap/gift doesn't have to be homemade does it Dianne?
Susan, will check on Netflix and see if Soul Surfer is listed..bet you needed to evening to unwind..how many would you say attended the turkey dinner? Amazing fall weather we're having with yet a touch of summer remaining...been thinking it's soon time for snow tires to be put on, need them before the rush.
Here's my Noah...proud of his new purchase
Morning Betty! Sure hope weather is agreeable for Laura and family while camping.Holding our sweet Debbie close to my heart.
BBL
Dianne
Sunshine day here as welll Dianne...leaves are quickly turning the most vibrant of colors..such a pretty time of year.
Prayers this morning for all in need!
Good morning everyone!!! Thea a;nd Bernie left for home a short while ago and I'm trying to play catch up with all the threads. We had a truly wonderful couple of days together. We shopped at the quilt store and then enjoyed the Schnitzelfest here in town, But mostly the four of us just sat and talked and enjoyed the company. Thea has taken several pictures and I'll let her post when she gets home.
Sounds like you all have been busy too. Betty the scarecrow looks to be fun to do and I'm amazed at the Santa faces. You are such a creative lady.
Mary, I'm glad you enjoyed those that came to your home. Sometimes, my friend, less is so much more!!!!! Even people!!
Dianne, I'm thinking of you and Warren today with a heart full of hugs. I'm so happy he has agreed to chemo and I'm hoping the effects are minimal..
Debbie, dear Debbie, sending a prayer up for you this morning that all will go well with your legs and that it's just a small bump in the road....
Waving ~~~ Hi to all as I want to read up on all your happenings. Be back later.....
Oh Barb, sounds as though you've had a wonderful visit..can't wait to see Thea's photo's..are they driving straight through??
Aunt Muriel just called, bought a new stove, wants to cook a roast but doesn't know how to work oven..so on my way to show her..says she had a big bag of wool for me, just what I need. Lol
Had a bowl of soup 1/2 hour ago, then looked at the clock and it was 10:30am..that is what happens when you get up at 4:00am..screws up all your meals..keep this up and I'll have time for 2 suppers!
