Best/worse/what did I learn today? Chat with friends..
FIRST FIRST FIRST! Hi Betty!
'lo........ tired today. Was at the church cleaning until 9:40pm last night.....
Best - people are really noticing how clean the church is, and they're thanking those who cleaned (6 of us, total). I made sure everyone knew who it was who cleaned (so they don't have only my name to thank).
worst - found emails last night and today re: meeting - I switched "without prejudice" and "with prejudice" in the meeting, and of course that makes a difference. Got emails from many of the attendees who expected me to be doing edits,but I was not asked to continue and therefore I would not be paid for doing so.
Learned - I WILL take a nap and Like it! Also that some people will buy the "Travelling Basket" at church, even if they don't want it, because they're Chrisitian and don't like to see me feel badly when no one else is buying it.
Thanks for the new room Betty. Getting ready to look at your BD pics when you get time. Make sure you rest tonight - you have sure earned it. So glad both of your boys and grandsons got to celebrate your DM's birthday.I'll claim one of those arm chairs and a cuppa. Some long tension filled days this week so would be good to relax with you. Probably we would both fall asleep while we were talking. LOL I can see us now!
Dianne
Hello everyone,
thank you Betty for the new room, I'd love to curl up in the other arm chair...not sure I will last long before falling asleep!! Just nudge me if I start snoring...lol
Busy last 2 days...cleaned all the windows, screens and doors and washed all the curtains and eventhough my better half did most of the work I am more then bushed...lol
Now if any of you come to visit, at least you can see out the window!!
Looking forward to see all the picture of the Party Betty, see we told you everything will work out and everyone will have a wonderful time your DM included :)
Barb, we could still postpone our visit until you feel better. But if we go ahead with it you better not go crazy on cleaning (I have bigger dustbunnies then my cats!!!) or cooking (take-out our treat!!) or such...and if you need to lay down uhmmm well I just lay right beside you and we talk in the horizontal...lol
Dianne I hope Warren is feeling a bit better with the new meds and that he has a good week coming. Big hugs and prayers for you both.
Well the sofa is calling my name.
Have a wonderful evening all
Love and hugs
Thea
Oh btw Crissy, I am so sorry about your co-worker...special prayers for her and her family...I think many of us know all too well of how it feels to loose a little angel like that :(
Waving to you all, just finished my last chores, bathed, had late lunch, plenty of left overs so not fretting about having something easy to eat..guess I could just have cake!
Wish we did live closer Dianne, i've got the two chairs ready for you and Thea!! Would make sure you would have a few hours of me mothering you..if today is same in your neighborhoods you've had a spectacular day..was Warren able to sit out for a few minutes?
thea, were you not just saying you over did it and having back problems? here look at what you've accomplished this weekend, you will be bedridden this week and not able to make your trip!
Debbie, for you and the others I'll sit rather than lay so there will be plenty of room!
Wanted to do photo's but just too tired..there is one I loved because I know the story behind it..remember I said 2 of my fishes died? Well I found one early morning, the 2nd was under plant life..wouldn't you know someone noticed it and the kids heard about it and wanted to see..my grand niece (4) had tears in her eyes..jeff took her to the pond, layer on the grass with her and a few young ones and as he didn't want them to be upset he told them a story about fish being able float without breathing and were able to do a maneuver called 'float slask dead' He took such time with her and the others that she ended up quite impressed by what fish can do! Lol
Susan, although there are workers who need praise I'm sure your efforts to organize them all deserves much thanks..hmm, so will you continue with the minutes? You've more patience with fools than I! You should have taken before and after photo's
Andy wanted to say just how much I enjoyed your photo's and writing..makes me want to pack my bags and go visit the marsh myself..do you write and photograph for a living? Our cranberry marsh, larger part of it is on Indian reserve
Just might have to go to the festival just so that I can see some of the beauty you captured in your region!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bala,_Ontario
And yet another..lordy it must take a zillion cranberries to fill a truck like that..
What is a must here is purchasing 100% cranberry juice ..great for kidneys..

Interesting
Cranberries & Health
Scientists have isolated compounds present in cranberries which have the special effect of preventing bacteria from adhering to the urinary tract. These proanthocyanidins, may be effective in preventing or easing urinary tract infections by preventing Escherichia coli (E. coli bacteria) from adhering to the kidney or bladder cells. (The New England Journal of Medicine, October 8th, 1998.)
Drinking cranberry juice can work both to prevent infection and to help control an existing problem. Recent research at the University of Western Ontario indicates that the regular consumption of cranberry products may have a role in fighting diseases such as cancer. Cranberries are a rich source of flavonoids which may have anti-cancer activity. Iroquois Cranberry Juice is pure juice. It is not made from concentrate. It contains no added water or other juices. Most people dilute the product to make it palatable. With 100% pure juice, you have control over what you add to the product. One litre of our pure juice will make up to 6 litres of juice. Many commercially available juices are made from concentrate and have a small proportion of cranberry juice.
To gain the health benifits, you need at least one 300 ml glass of 27% cranberry juice per day. For instance if you take 1/3 glass our juice, 1/3 fruit juice, and 1/3 water, you will have a pleasant drink that gives you the health benefits without the extra sugar many supermarket cranberry "drinks" have. No matter what you do, read the label before you buy!
Betty - they aren't fools, just very foolish to think I would take this, and I just got an email with a "thanks for doing this" comment from one of the attendees. The fellow who hired me for the minutes sent an apology on behalf of the meeting, and cc'd the agency that sent me. I replied with thanks, to both of them, and stated I would no longer be answering emails from the rest of the attendees unless he, who hired the agency, asked me to do edits. I, however, said I would rather not. As I said in the email to him and the agency: "I feel that I’m being drawn into something not of my making even though I thought I made it very clear that my time with the meeting was completed upon the first transcription."
Hopefully that is the END of this.
I don't blame you Susan, sounds as though there are underlying issues at hand which you certainly don't need! Especially coming in last minute as a temp!
Moved from the couch to my bed, feeling wide awake,overtired I guess so decided I would try reading a book!
Boy it sure gets cold here as soon as the sun sets. Fall sure is in the air, even heard a few flocks of canada geese heading south :(
Betty, my back and hip pain is 24/7 nothing I can do for that, besides meditation and prayers and hope I will see the Doc in Kingston one of these days!!
My "pain week" has to do with Hormones, 1 week before my menses I get major flare-up with my fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis and arthritis. I just take one day at the time and try to stay possitive :)
As for the work we did the last 2 days...it was mostly my Husband that did the work, I know my limits all too well, so I take lots of breaks. I guess one can get bushed from supervising others...lol
Your story about Jeff brought smiles to my face...what a sweetheart and gentle heart he is...just like his Mom!!!!
Going to relax in my warm PJ's and watch TV.
Nights all and sweet dreams
Love and Hugs
Thea
Thanks, everyone. I wondered how many cranberries it takes to fill that trailer, too. I hope to try again in 10 days or so for better pics. I have a paying job this week, fresh money, lol. I'm a painter by trade and it's been s l o w .
DebbiesDaisy, the pup Sarah is doing well for an old girl. She has healed nicely after the tumor surgery.
Every year I struggle with the subscription price for DG. I think I will let it pass this year, there is just no money to spare. I owe Daves a lot. It was here that I started the Daily Photo thread in Photos that led me to start my own web site. Then it was here that I learned about PODS where I could make a few cents off my pics. Now a renowned Natural Sciences museum has asked to use one of my spider egg sack pics in an upcoming interactive exhibit launching a new wing. I wonder if this could happen if I don't pay the $20 a year. Can someone contact a non-subscribed member? I know Daves keeps all the content but will I be invisible?
Oh well ~ 2 more weeks.
Andy P
Andy, it is my understanding...that you will not become invisible....I believe that the posts you have made will stay there unless admins find a reason to remove something you said: but there will be threads, and this is one of them...that you will not have access to....
this thread is the reason I made my payment....
Hello To All !
Thunder - thought about you today... just finished a book I bought for my Dad's Birthday... It was a book of trivia about the Armed Forces.... was wondering what the average age for enlisting was...
Paul - this thread alone is worth the price of subscription exponentially for me... Therapy is SO expensive these days ROFLOL!
Thea - I saw that SAME flock of geese today LOL! Really I did see one and thought of all my canadian friends. If Birds Fly south for the winter then why do I still see birds in the summer ?
LK - Are you close to Schlitterbaun? Always wanted to go there... glad you had a nice visit.
((HUGS)) Deb.. don't wear yourself out getting ready for Thursday... make those kiddos pitch in...
Barb - thought about you when I went to the Nursery with the Koi... his herbs have long descriptions of their properties and I found one that said "Aids digestion of fatty foods"... but darned if I don't remember was it Rosemary? I will google this.... I DID finally get to start "The Help" today. Are you reading it ?
((HUGS)) Laura. Life losing my Mom was like losing a limb... you "make do" without but you still always remember what you've lost...
Betty - so sad you lost your koi as well. Kudos to Jeff for everything he did at the party... YOU deserve a huge pat on the back. I'm so HAPPY your Mom said she had a good time and didn't grumble at some small thing when you've worked so hard to make her happy. Cake sounds yummy.....
Best: Got that front bed done today... and Hubs worked on the sugar kettle pond out front.
Worst: Hubs going out of town for a week... so I've got to run the household without him... UGH
Learned: Hopefully I've learned the correct way to seperate Agapanthus and Red Crinum.
I also learned that PUP will NOT listen when I tell her to leave the dead koi alone where I put them. They resurfaced again today. The new ones are hopefully shy because I didn't see them all day.
Next Saturday I'm having some DGers over for a garden party. Never met any of them and hoping they are like you all....
((HUGS))
Mary
LOL ... I think I'm the night owl over here. ☺ Seems like I can't get here until late in the a.m. or late at night. I'm notall that good at responding to everyone like y'all are yet, but give me time, and I'll learn what's going on with everyone.
Laura, I'm still sending prayers to your friend. I can't even imagine what a difficult time she's going through right now.
Betty, so glad your day went well. It all sounded wonderful. I'll take a piece of that left over cake. The chair sounds very inviting, but I'm sure you've gone to bed by now ...
Thea, hope you're not in as much pain tomorrow.
Debbie, Moses and I most certainly will be with with you on Thursday. I hope your room is *very big. I feel like I have a school bus compared to Kota. LOL
Susan, I came in on the middle of your situation, but I hope it all works out.
Barb, praying they will figure out the cause of your pain and can give you relief.
Dianne, always Always sending hugs&prayers to you and Warren. I hope he is able to sit outside again. I know that did him good. Don't forget to take care of *you while you take care of him.
Katie, isn't it wonderful to have such a special relationship like that. My DH and I are very close. He's not just my DH ... he's my friend.
Speaking of which ... Betty, you asked after him. He's feeling better tonight. We have both had some sinus going on, and his symptoms were cold like. We did get 16 broccoli plants planted yesterday, though. Can't remember if I've already said that. LOL Went to church today and did chicken on the grill for supper. Made a quick run to WM this afternoon. Tomorrow will be a usual Monday ... busy busy.
I started my book but keep falling asleep. Will go do some reading ... To anyone I missed ... ~ing. Y'all have a blessed night.
I know you "came in late" on the situation, but rest assured, it's all dealt with. The people from the meeting are now realizing that I am no longer getting paid for dealing with the meeting, and I'm starting to get apologies in email about them continuing on......
awwww Belle looks so sweet - not at all as if she'd just had Koi the other day ............. lol
Schlitterbaun is in San Antonio, 160 mils from my home. I have only been there once, as it is so pricey for the entry fee, and foods.
http://www.schlitterbahn.com/nb/tickets/
Awe Suse ! This is what is known as "The Night Shift" Very rarely am I able to post before 8pm...
so Welcome to "The Night Shift" ! LOL...
Susan - so glad the folks are realizing that you were only paid to take the minutes at the meeting ! Sounds like some political stuff going on there.... best to stay out of it... I'm sure...
LK - wow Schlitterbaun is so pricey..... Always wanted to plan a trip there.... There is a very small water park here... so when ya'll all come visit me... if you bring young'uns... we can go there... LOL.... nothing like Schlitterbaun though !
Susan - funny thing... I 'found' the koi in the yard and remembered that "Fish emulsion" was good for Hibiscus... so I thought it would be good to move to the hibiscus...
I "Told" Belle to "leave it there" but I found out today that she did not listen to me... so hubby was called in to dispose of the fish.... sad.....but Belle has been really good lately about listening however not in this instance....
LOL at sleeping Belle. She sure does look happy Mary. Wish I could be at your DG getogether as does everyone else here I am sure.
Susan hope you, Danny and Moses had a wonderful day. The weather was absolutely gorgeous here. porbably a little chilly for you though.
Thea when you find out your appoinment with the Ortho let me know. I will come keep you company (provided DH is safe to leave) as I can guarantee you will have a wait. Have sat in that floor's waiting room many times. So glad you are going to see Barb and Norm. Wish I could sneak off and join you. Since I can't you and Barb are going to have to fill me in with all that you did and pictures too. I can also clue you into a couple of good Kingston parking spots as all parking down there at HD is rare and expensive.
Barb that is 1 good lookin grandson you have. You must be so proud of all your grandkids.
Dh has had a couple of very bad turns this last week the worst being on Thursday.It is getting I am afraid to leave him alone. Went to the village one morning for no more than 20 min. He was sound asleep when I left. When I came home I found him rifling through the draws in the bathroom looking for grapes. Yep that's where I keep the grapes alright.He has started to challenge just about anything I say and I swear by his actions he thinks I am trying to OD him with his meds. Twice this last week I have thrown up my hands and said Fine you are on your own buddy - both times he ended up making a mess of his meds and paid for it with pain.Of course then I get you don't help me....... so I am damned if I do and damned if I don't. This is unusal behaviour for DH so I am going to ask if they would do a MRI of his brain. One of his oncologists was surprized one hadn't been done as often lung cancer can metastasize to the brain. Things are just not right and it is not just his meds making him wonky.
Bev how are you doing? Cast still on? Waiting for another of your beautiful pictures.
Betty I hope this finds you sleeping and pain free. You did remember to take pain meds didn't you?
~~~~~~ to everyone. Make sure you all do something nice for yourself tomorrow ladies and you too Andy.
Dianne
Well, I had to come back and give you a {{{ }}} Dianne! wish it could be in person, though. I'd even take your cold. In fact, after all this 100º weather, it would probably feel good. Today was actually in the 70's all day. Just gorgeous! It's suppose to rain tomorrow, but if it doesn't, I'll get up early and go for a walk. Well now, early isn't Betty's early!! LOL
Okay, I'm not *even suppose to be here ... Remember that book? grin
Oh, one more thing ... I forgot to comment on the cranberries. I didn't know all that about them. All I know is I love love love them. They're right up there next to blueberries in my book. The best clueberries I ever had were in Canada. I'll never forget those huge ones at all those stands they had. Now that was waaay back in the mid 60's. Things have probably changed since then.
Okay ... I'm gone this time ...
When is the Bala Cranberry Festival Betty? I can't remember if it is before Meaford or after Meaford.Nothing like hitting you with questions before you even have your cuppa.
Like Susan OK .... I am gone this time.lol famous last words.
hey there night shift...I think Y'all are sleeping by now?? and good morning to the day folks. :)
3:30 am here and I am ready to read for a half hour or so...then off to bed. working tomorrow night 2-11 so I will be on after the night shift.....
sweet dreams and then have a great day !!!
Morning all, lots to chat with you all about your day but will have to be when I get to work..normally I have an extra hour to play but this am I've to be at car dealership to get timing belt changed, mega dollars for a vehicle not yet broken..preventive maintenance they say! Got to fix if I want to keep road running. Lol
Lordy/lordy, Sailor keeps tooting, not nice!!!
Dianne, Meaford is week before thanksgiving and ball week after...remember gals/guy, we canadiens celebrate early..weekend of October 8th!
Got to run, gab in a few hours
Morning everyone, where are you all?? Betty and I can't be the only two up!Althought I will admit I did have a bit of a sleep in. Slept from 5 am till11:30 am - so that is a record for me.
Gorgeous outside!
Dianne
Hi y'all!
Well, I slept in and had phone calls ... went for a nice long walk. It's gorgeous. We went to a local shopping strip mall and just sat on a park bench and people watched for a min.
Oh how I wish our Thanksgiving Day was the same ... but I guess it would still be a bit hot here for turkey and dressing. It sure would be nice not to have that and Christmas so close together, though. LOL
Betty hope you didn't have to spend too much $$.
Hi Dianne ... Wish we could go on walks together ...
Now that I'm back, I'm procrastinating ... I need to get something accomplished. The clock just chimed 1. I can't believe how fast this day is going by. LOL
Will BBL!
Hi Everyone,
I'm about to head back to Ca. as my friend Bonie is about to be evicted for non-payment of property taxes - along with her 70-something mother and schizophrenic uncle. She has some concrete stuff for me so I'm off to get it.
Tony's father is better but is gradually going downhill.
Carlos the computer guy is moving to La Paz and cannot take his dog with him so I will see if he can adapt to my five and vice versa.
My arm is better but still weird (a useful medical term). I'll ask my doctor about having it x-rayed when I'm in Ca as it's not like anything I've had before - feel a bit like bone on bone.
I sent a big bag of fabric and clothes home with Tony. Am gradually sorting through stuff, accepting that I won't be able to do a lot of what I had hoped for. However, I am almost set to start sewing with what I'm keeping so I'm pretty happy.
Thinking of all of you and praying for the best. Must take new dog home and see if the fur flies.
hugs, katie
Dianne, I was on my way to Rochester at 6:45 this morning...DS had dentist appt, and he and I went to bagel shop for a breakfast sandwich and coffee. I haven't stopped since. So I was up and moving! I went to bed decent last night, but tossed and turned. The problem is...I put a warmer blanket on...and well, the cats like that one....big mistake. Three kitties on me cuddling!!
Making a beef stew for dinner.
DH is on his way to his eye appointment....so should be hearing of yet another surgery I am sure. Dang!!! Sure hope that macular pucker healed but he says his eyesight isn't any better. Tomorrow is another day full of appointments and running.....its probably better that I keep busy anyway.
Waving to all.....be back, before I burn dinner...again.
Debbie
Susan I wish you could come on walks with me too. Moses , Storm and Quill would have a blast.
Time for lunch - going to be a chore to get DH to eat today.
BBL
Dianne
Hi again ...
Fed me and Moses ... put on a load of laundry ... paid a bill and now you see where I am. LOL
Debbie, saying prayers for your DH. I sure hope he doesn't need more eye surgery. We've been that road so know what y'all are going through. You've had a lot on your plate lately. Please update when you hear something. Sending love, hugs&of course my blessings too.
Dianne, now wouldn't that be something! LOL Moses is such a smart guy. When we're out walking and we pass a yard that has a barking dog, he glances over as if to say, "so sorry, but I've got places to go". LOL
Katie, have a safe trip. So sorry about Tony's father. Hope the transition goes well with the new dog, and you don't have any "fur flying". ☺
Okay, laundry is begging to come out of the dryer and Moses is begging to play frisbee. LOL Best git a movin.
OHHH Bev, that is just beautiful! Love it, and BIG BIRD is perfect name!
Suse, I will update soon as I know anything on him. I think the two of us are keeping the
doctors cars tuned up and their vacations scheduled!
Lordy, where did the day go, teach me for being off on Friday..really wasn't too busy, downloaded photo's and now waiting for 4:30pm to arrive!
As for my car, $475 guess I should have asked if it included 13% taxes or not! Oh well, can't run roads and not keep the car up..
Where to start? Oh yes, Jeff explaing what he calls 'fish sleeping/resting his eyes slash DEAD!' lol
