Shucks Susie. I would miss her too. Why did you have to give her up?
She's about to...62... Fall is almost here!
How come you had to give up sweet pea? Awwww Susie, I am soo sorry.. {{{{hugs}}}}
LindaKay, yes you plant those seeds as soon as they turn black, the seed is in the middle ( a berry type)
Growing the cuttings to a plant is a chore, it is always a challenge for me. lots of humidity..under a dome works the best.
Faye., so glad the plants are coming back for you, can send other vines if you want them, will try to get you an susie out some cuttings when I cut back this weekend.

Oh Susie, we are going to miss them so I can't even imagine how much you are going to miss them.....OMG. Glad they are with friends tho. We started out with 3 geese one time and two were gotten by some animal and the 3rd was so lonely. You could just tell. So I found a farm that had all kinds of birds and we took her over and she immediately lite up and found some baby ducks not even geese that she protected and fell in love with. So it will be fun for your sweetpea to have birds to flock together with. So just remember she will remember you but she is having fun.
Yes happ i do know it will be better for her in many ways I'm hoping to drive over there saturday to check out their new Homes I Have never been there Just heard about them . so i want to go see for myself.

Susie be sure and rest you have alot on your plate and you don't want to wear yourself down and get sick. Too close to being done now...
No frost here, they just wanted to scare me to death a few weeks ago so I could bring everything in and then work my behind off watering it all everyday..rofl. We have been upper 80's, next week in the 70's. Winter could stay like this I don't think I would mind.
Got the 4 poles up for the pergola....yes! Now a few days to dry, then up with the top. DH keeps wanting me to make it into a room. I can't afford to heat another room, but a screened in room would be nice.
oh joyce, the pergola sounds lovely.
I have been gathering seeds all week for ya all. dug up a bunch of stuff today. DH helped me get everything dug out of the front triangle garden, we are starting over out there.
I have two sticks of Alex Brug rooting, and four b arboreas ready to send out to root if ya all want any.

susie
susie, b arborea is a brugmansia. The seedling I have that grew up is from a seed from a DG'r named Kell. It is a white brug, more like a native brug.
I love white, so I have a lot of white Brugs. will set the Alex and B arborea back for you susie. College girl made cupcakes yesterday. they were yummy.
She is a scratch baker, which is even better.. too bad she hates the clean up part..
Debra that arbor, is WOW! Gonna have to look up swamp marigold, never heard of that. You always have some of the most interesting plants. I need to get all my stuff in one spot for overwintering that I didn't get planted and make sure I have tags when spring comes next year.
Speaking of DH's being nice, one time at work someone at Valentines Day said you didn't get flowers, and I replied Thank Goodness! She looked at me odd and said why, told her if I got flowers on Valentines Day delived to work, I would have to hire a private detective, because I would know something was up! rolf. I would much rather have plants I can keep and remember than something that is delivered and DH is pretty frugial so that is just fine with him... :)
You got rain Debra? None here yet, saying chance on Monday, Tuesday. Going to go play outdoors.
Morning everyone! We got rain here, most of last night. Just a nice soft rain.
YAY! Linda, that is wonderful! So glad the rain finally has been granted to Texas.
Joycw, have a great day in the Gardens I know it is a perfect day when you get to play. I am including the MArigold seeds in my seed bags for you all that I am sending out. Love working on these seed bags for my DG friends.

Don't work too hard Susie!
Good MOrning, I am home today. I am working on getting things together to mail out, and wanted to see if you had wanted any Dats, LindaKay. What all would you like from my Gardens?
Debra, would love any seeds you may have. Wish I had more room for plants, but I am running out of room for pots!
Linda Kay, I have been having the same problem, running out of pots, and running out of room. So I took a suggestion from Debra and I am combining plants. Really glad I started doing that. I put 3 plumerias in pots together, did that 3 times. I think when they bloom it will be beautiful. They don't look so spindly, with multiples in there. Now I am combining all my succulants that I can together in a big pot. Course gotta be careful on the size of those pots or they will be killers. Luckily I don't have any steps. Things like banana trees and brugs I am not doing that, but am putting smaller stuff at the base of them. So I guess in a way I am doing that.
I will go out and see what I can combine. Thanks is for the tip.
Hello everyone.. thank you for all the beautiful pictures. I funally have some green grass since we have had rain 3 times in the past 3 weeks. I is amazing how rain can make such a difference. We have now had a little over 2 inches of rain in the past 13 months and almost all of it has been in the past 3 weeks. I have been babying 2 brugs that remained stunted to about 2 inches all year but they are have started growing. I think the very low humidity has been the problem. The leaves stayed teeny tiny and they just did not GROW at all .. now they are growing and are both about 4 inchs tall.. double the size they have been all year. My mother is so disappointed not to have been able to keep hers alive this year. She just loved her yellow and pink brugs and that yellow one grew so huge in her garden. I am going to have to find new ones for her. I have tons of empty pots. She called me wondering where to find larger pots for her palms.... no problem.. I have them! LOL everything I had has died. I only have 8 total plants in pots this year.. I usually have at least 50. Nothing lived and I don't have the money to replace them so did not do any shopping. I did not even spend the gas driving out to the garden centers to look... it would have been too hard to see the pretty things and not be able to buy. I lost my last cajun hibiscus too.. sorry to see that one go.. had it 2 years. Just a rotten year for plants around here. I sure hope next year is better.
The good side... there are so few plants that they will all fit inside my atrium in the hourse this winter and I won't have the expense of extra greenhouse plant heating this winter! YEA!
Who's got the Zinnia seeds? Please save some for me if you have plenty. Thanks
Don't get me wrong Linda Kay, I still have wayyyyy too many single pots. But sure makes watering and caring for them easier.
Maybe as the winter goes along I can keep combining. Some things that just isn't possible like my ferns and hibiscus.
Tammie, you have had a crummy year to say the least for plants. If I can root a cutting from my hibiscus I would be happy to send you one or two, but it remains to be seen what success if any I have. I am not the best rooter around. If I don't get out there to water I am going to lose everything, I hate watering.
Tammy, I can send you some Brug cuttings for your MOM. let me know..
Faye I Have the ZINNIA"S Boy Do I have them :)))) I will send you some
Hi, back up again. took some more meds for my stoopid headache. was going to try to get outside at least once today, but it hurts to stand up for long.
oh well.
found a brug cutting I had snapped off without a tag, sitting in the tub downstairs. I hate it when that happens. I guess I will send it to a newbie.
I had beautiful zinnias one year when I just scattered the seeds in my front flowerbed.
Mom would love any pink or yellow brug cuttings... we have plenty pots for them. She has a greenhouse that she keeps at least 45 in the winter. I gave her one of my oil filled heaters last winter when it got really cold so the greenhouse is kept nicely warm. I think dad is going to get a generator this winter... just in case. The bricks on the floor get really warm so even with short power outages it stays fairly warm in there for a while.
I just looked at one of my brugs and it is actually about a foot tall! It has really grown in the past few days. It loves our cool weather with temps in the 70's each day. I am loving not having to hand water everything every single day but I actually do enjoy watering my plants. I still water almost every night. It gives me a reason to check everything.
Unfortunately some people here are not very smart and are already cutting down trees they 'think' are dead. Many trees are dormant due to the drought... they should wait to see if they come back after the rains return. It is so sad to see so many big trees looing dead. My yard looks much better since the rain. One very large oak that was looking dead near my parents suddenly looks alive again. It is amazing. The tree is older than me and is HUGE.
Hope that headache gets better soon Debra!
Thanks all for the birthday wishes!! I hadn't read this thread in a few days because of being on vacation. I've been trying to stay away from the computer so hubby doesn't feel neglected. But then it's been raining almost the whole time we've been here so it hasn't been a huge deal.
May actually get to spend some time at the beach tomorrow without a 50 mph wind!
Love & hugs to everyone.
Debra, hope your headache is gone to never return.
Thanks, guys, I went to Dr this morning and got a shot in each "cheek" so to speak. Seems I have two or three things going on at once. Feel better now, going to try to work tommorrow. everyone's cuttings are sitting around in little tubs of water for now.
Still have about 9 more brugs to get out of the ground, and two big ones to bring in . Kaitlyn is loaded and half open tonight. maybe she will be all open by the am.
one of the brugs downstairs is all budded up and skirts showing. I think it is Isabella. Anyway she has an I engraved on her so that is the only "I" name i have. I have been engraving their names right onto their stalks. I am so abusive. Poor Things. Brought in Five I had potted up from the south fence earlier, they sat out in the rain for a couple days, and were light enough for me to tote them down stairs. I had to de-leaf most of them for mites.
No Bugs ALLOWED in the brug room is my motto. I found a large green worm on one of my special coleus. I was so mad I threw if down and stepped on it, walked off angry and forgot about it, Joe went down for the freezer and asked me what the heck it was. I had forgotten I left it there on the floor. Ugh.
Asters are blooming now.
I use a black permnant marker on them.. it seems to work well on woody stems for quite a while. The one I have is still there but unfortunately.. I CAN"T READ MY WRITING!!! LOL Mom will be so excited to hear she is getting cuttings. I am on my way to her house in a few minutes.. I will tell her. I just checked my mountain magic and it is trying to make up for not growing all year.. the leaves are HUGE each leaf is bigger then the entire plant itself.. sort of funny looking. The entire plant is probably about 10 inches tall but the leaves are absolutely huge.... it is growing FAST. It was no taller than 3 inches all summer long.. the stump of what remained was in the pot and the plant came up beside it and stayed shorter than the stump. It is the plant that froze this winter when the garage door failed and I thought I had completely lost my plant. I was so excited when it started growing but then just stopped and stayed the same tiny size all summer. ..... making up for lost time.
