Today, I am thankful for...#8

(Zone 7a)

Eeeek! Very glad you caught it in time! I set my kitchen on fire a few years back. Same situation. I left something on the stove and it caught. We had to use an extinguisher on that one. It took us months to finally get all the soot cleaned up.

Today, I'm thankful for mugs big enough to hold beef stew for lunch, warm slippers and Halloween.

I'm with Debra on how gorgeous that blue dress is!

So glad no damage resulted in that kitchen fire Samigal. I have smoke detector in the kitchen that goes off too easily but feel better knowing its there in case of a real fire. (DH sure enjoys teasing me when it goes off when I have the oven on - when the oven gets dirty. I got tired of the teasing, smoke & noise so finally cleaned it a few months ago).

Today I am thankful for the delicious fall apples! The farmer down the road is selling all sorts of varieties, all grown locally.

oop... meant to ask SusanKC about the puppies. Did you get a puppy to keep Jessie company?

I have been lurking here for quite some time and so enjoy this thread. Placing a positive spin on the day sure is uplifting. Reading all of the things you people are thankful for remind me of how lucky I really am and I need to spend more time remembering that.

Basically out of the blue in late June my sweet husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer no surgeries will help.At this point everything has gone too far. So today I am thankful for each day my husband and I have together where he feels well enough to participate in at least 1 of the day's activities.

Thankful that I can pray for all those that carry heavy burdens .

I add my prayers, Dianne.
Quilty, looks and sounds like you had fun. Something you probably needed with all you've had going on lately.
I'm thankful to have finally gotten rid of an old television. It still worked but was huge and must have weighed around 200 lbs. The LCD replacement weighs about 40 lbs. and takes up a fraction of valuable space. It took three people with a hand truck to load the old box television into the back of my pickup, but I was able to meet the delivery man at the nearby rescue mission store. He and a young mission worker unloaded it for me. What a relief! (Jim).

Ditto on the "GORGEOUS blue dress".

Glad no major damage from the fire either.

Tam - No new puppies. Only Jessie. Although, our neighbor was asking DH about that this weekend. She tends to periodically scan the Humane Society pages for dogs.

Dianne – I’m sorry to hear about DH having cancer. You both are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope he’s still able to do something with you for a long time.

Grateful for autumn colors, fresh fall apples, and popcorn balls.

BTW - Anticipating having my first spiced apple cider and apple sauce of the fall.

Today I am thankful things always look better in the light of day. I get so worried sometimes I can't imagine how I will get through something when its 3am but when I am up the next day, I can see I will manage the best I can and it really will be ok.

And so very grateful my worries are not more serious than they are!!!!

Prayers for Dianne & hubby that they may enjoy many happy hours, days and months together.

I'm thankful for cool evenings, we are having a heat wave and not too happy about it. Triple digits in some places.

Midland City, AL

My wife calls the hours between midnight and dawn, "the wolf hours." When I'm being kept awake at night by back pain, I can sure hear those wolves howl. :-)
My attempts at growing apples in the deep south are meeting with limited success, but I'm sure thankful for apples. I painted some apple gourds and hung them in one of my apple trees. Can't wait to see what the thieving deer make of them apples. lol. (Jim).

Thank you all for your prayers. Today I am thankful that it appears I haven't lost my sense of humour! Sure needed it to get through the day - and besides it makes the day much more easier to deal with.
Dianne

Humor is what makes everything seem more manageable.

Grateful for large vibrant thunder clouds, beautiful rainbows (the first in months) against those clouds, and fall leaves to walk through.

mulege, Mexico

Grateful for the beautiful red sunrise coming up over the Sea of Cortezz and being well enough to be up to enjoy it.

BTW - also grateful for humor. Both the sutle and the ROTFLMAO plus the spectrum in between.

Today - I am grateful to have found someone to cut my hair that is fun and makes me look forward to the appointment. I always have HATED having my hair cut. This girl does a great job and we just spend the whole appointment discussing recipes and such.

SusanKC - I am thankful for humor too. Just wish I was funnier personally. At least I am good at laughing at other peoples' jokes. :-)

Tam - Sounds like a fun time getting the hair cut. You are funny. BTW - Do you know anything about solar ovens?

(Debra) Garland, TX

Humor is a lifeline for a lot of us, I think. :-)

I'm thankful for a new beginning.

After 2 years of no jobs for myself and DH and loosing a house to our move to a new state (my birth state) and new home (rental) and a new job for me and early SS for DH. We aren't rich but it is nice to have money to pay bills, and I was able to keep two of my three collies with me.

I love this thread.

(Debra) Garland, TX

Hi, Jan. :-)

(Zone 7a)

I'm thankful this thread is still going so strong.
Thankful there are part time jobs for the Holidays opening up.
And, most of all, for dear, dear husbands who can make me smile and laugh.

Shawnee Mission, KS(Zone 6a)

Agree that starting over is not easy but sounds like it was worth it in this case. May it only get better.

Thankful for Youtube videos esp "how to" and viral videos, and fall salad greens.

Dahlonega, GA

Thankful that we only have a coupla hpurs left to work on the rental and will be through . Getting the tools together and put up is the next big job .
Thankful my pooches are healthy .

(Debra) Garland, TX

Today I am most thankful for:

A helpful, competent MetroPCS employee. Went "the extra mile" and took care of what I wanted toot sweet.

Kroger deli rotisserie chicken, marked down. (Three of them will make a lot of casseroles and working lunches. :-)

Warm temps and a stock of Gatorade so--maybe--I get the remaining daylilies in the ground this weekend. 'Cept the baby from-seed ones. Those will be separated to go in larger pots and be overwintered in the house when it gets cold.

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

thanks yall, I'm most thankful for such a wonderful beautiful day today is.

Digger, a good friend of mine who has another collie of mine (well he was a puppy when she go him and I kept his litter sister) her boy is still doing good at 12 but I lost my sweet blessing when she was 9 to cancer.

Blessing is in the middle the sable on her left is her mother, Acacia, tri color and on her right is her half sister, Sarah, blue merle. All have crossed the bridge and now playing together again.

Jan, Gracie is a beauty. I am thankful for a grandson and Debras computer that he got going for me. I am uptown now. It'll take me awhile to get use to it. Have been working inside and outside. Boy do i hurt. Weather is beautiful. Have been making a campfire every night.
Debra, one of the little daylillys (something Custard) has a bud) I'll keep it from freezing,so i can see the flower. We're supposed to have a freeze by Thursday. The fall leaves are beautiful.
Vickie

(Debra) Garland, TX

Sally, glad you are almost done.

Spiced Custard, Vickie. From Maryott's in California. I have a Sun Silk got from him as a bonus, too, and there is a blooming scape on it:-) Smells wonderful. I am glad you can use the laptop now.

Jan, sometimes that is what you have to do if it is best for them. Not really thinking about bringing a third dog back in the house. Russell's death reinforced the fact that I can't afford more than two. At least not right now. But things happen the way they are supposed to, so I am waiting to see. :-)
===============================================================================================

All my thanks today revolve around daylilies.

Thankful to have managed to work outside for five hours today. Yea!

I am thankful to have cleared out as many pots and containers as I did. Luckier than Vickie in that I am only a little sore--so far. :D

Thankful as many daylily seedlings survived our summer and my neglect as did. The most important one is doing well. Jim and Kay, tell Travis I am still keeping very close watch and good care of his someday-to-be-colorful plant. It will come in the house for winter time so it doesn't freeze before it's big and strong enough to handle it.

Dahlonega, GA

Thankful that all I have to do now is seal a seam in vinyl flooring , Use my double brush scrubber on kitchen floor and seal with vinyl polish. Put up tools .
Thankful for a son that calls every week and mows my grass in Tex. Thankful he was an only child , and I don't have a house full to worry about , just one .

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

Blessing again this evening as my only child, son called on skype tonight so I got to see him, my granddaughter and daughter in law. They just got stationed out in Colorado.

digger I hear ya on the only child worries.... mine will have to head overseas again in January for the 3rd time. I'm praying that things will change so he can stay home.

Jan

Tonight I am thankful for old friends. I just got back from a 50th birthday party for a friend I hadn't seen in a couple years. I hired him in 1995 and brought them both up from Texas. Just wonderful people. Was really nice to get out of the house. And even better to see how they've thrived here.
