§Sweet Interruptions 227§

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Jaye - this is not my new boss. They haven't come to a decision yet.
This is a temp job I got for one day only - from an agency. I took minutes from 9am to 2pm (with a 20 min break so they could do some In Camera meeting, unminuted). Now they have to be transcribed to MS Word so I can email them to all the attendees. I'm trying to get them down while they're still "fresh" in my mind - I can still see the attendees around the table......... It wasn't the most pleasant meeting I've been to.......

Good morning
well not much going on here
i need to get to my oldest DD and clean her apt this week and i m not looking forward to that. i may need to get a hazmat white suit !! its kinda like the new movie that is out Contagion LOLLLl really no kidding.

LOL Sue!!!!

I'm assuming that because I don't have kids I didn't think about her husbands 3 young kids he has from a previous marriage, his first wife turned to drugs and ran out on him and all 3 kids so he has 100% full custody with no visitation, Shana married him when those 3 kids were very small, the oldest is 11 and the youngest is 7 I think, Shana has been married to him 5 1/2 years. He had to tell those three kids what happened to Shana and why there isn't going to be a baby sister right now. I haven't heard anything yet, I just hope she can give birth to the stillborn and won't have to have a c-section, and I hope they can determine immediately what happened. She only had 1 1/2 months to go, she was due on Thanksgiving day. I'm still wondering how long it had been since she had felt movement, she wasn't sick at all and I know having something that has passed on inside of you will make you quite ill.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I don't know about that Crissy - I've never known anyone who had a stillbirth.
A friend of mine (many long years ago, when MY kids were little), had her Dr tell her that her baby was dead, but she would have to wait for the natural delivery. Her mom said it was a judgement on her because she was catholic and divorced and married her current husband. Made her feel terrible.
Anyway, upshot is, right to the birth her Dr claimed it was dead, but then she gave birth to a beautiful Live daughter. The hospital staff & Dr were outside her room and whispering about her, and when she asked what about, they left. Apparently she had a tiny hole in her heart, but they repaired it a year later, and the baby was fine. They wouldn't let her have the baby to hold until 2 days later. Strange, eh?
Mind you, this was about 34 years ago, and I don't know the hospital, so can't say more than that.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

My SIL had to carry her baby full term. It was stillborn at 7 mos. They said if she didn't, the hormones would raise HE-- with her brain...... She delivered the baby at 8 mos, 3 wks and it had passed......Her body was normal - no infections or anything like that.....

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

That's kind of what I thought - no illness, etc. I'd never heard of anyone becoming ill from a stillbirth during the time in the mother......

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hi ladies.
Glad Susan and Barb can explain that there is no danger to carrying a stillborn baby full term. It must be God's way in protecting the mothers. Imagine in the old days before any advance imaging came along? There must be many who had delivered stillborns and survived. My mother was one, this was about more than 50 years ago. Think it was the 6th child. She survived and I have more siblings later.

I always asked my Mum why she's not contented with #1 (me). Lol!!

Treating an infection and been sleeping a lot today.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

What kind of infection, Jaye - one of the "lady" ones? Those are the worst, I think......

As to carrying a stillborn baby to full term, many Drs recommend it as it's easier to give birth, for the mother's health, than to wrench it from her body. The worst harm is to her mental health. I certainly would be upset knowing that this is what was happening..........

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready! Fresh hot cinnamon rolls! I am still in San Antonio, but should be back home early afternoon. I have had a great time with the kids this week-end.
Jaye, so sorry to hear you have some kind of infection! Saying prayers for you!
Well, my IPad is almost dead, as the kids love to play all the games on here. I will chat more when I get home!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Well, the docs induced labor as they said it was very dangerous and yesterday she gave birth to a stillborn 1 1/2 month preemie if you will, 1 pound, 10 ounces, 13 inches long. That's small for a 30 week old fetus in my opinion.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Crissy, sorry she had to go through all that! Did they find out what happened?

Afternoon everyone! I am back home, still need to unpack and get laundry done, but we had a great time!

Hope everyone is doing well!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Crissy, now she has to concentrate on healing herself.

LK, I don't understand the high costs of IPads here. Overseas they're so cheap... the real ones... not the knock offs.
What happen to "grandma's here" and you'll be totally suffocated with their demands for your attention?
At least it's only the IPad batteries that need to be recharged, and not yours! Lol. WB LK!

Been watching the games today. Need a distraction from housework, dirty dishes and Kel!!
He's gone to work now, I can work later in peace and not in pieces!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I did not know they are cheaper over sea's Jaye! They are about $600.00 here. Hope you get some rest tonight Jaye!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I'm serious LK! They're a hundred dollars cheaper in Singapore. It blew me away when my teenage nephews and nieces have one EACH!! Not to share.. but for themselves!
My 2 brothers who have no kids, chipped in, but not for the French kids.
You can bet that the younger ones are equipped with some smart phones!!
Singapore being an island is provided with a faster internet speed, faster than ours :(

I am just grateful that I have a pc and a tired ole 'net snail, to stay in civilization!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Maybe because we have to pay such high prices for importing them here?

good morning
crissy i m so sorry about your friend. many blessings to her.
well time to get kids off

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Afternoon!!
I got so much meds to take, and I'll be darn when I made a mistake.
My regular meds I organized them in a weekly pill box. Then I have my stash of prescribed sinus meds.. which is taken only when needed.
Well.. I'm supposed to take antibiotics.. right? Had been taking sinus meds instead of those!!! No wonder I'm sleepy all the time!!! Ok.. corrected myself last night..

Yep LK, could be the import tariffs and duties raised the price.

Hey Sue... how much longer will you be pressing cider?

Nothing going on here, except for thinking of new places to overwinter the plants in the house. Number of pots have somewhat greatly reduced to 20 instead of 50!!! Kel might have to share his favorite chair with a blue sky vine!! Lol!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, you need to be careful with those meds! Glad you caught the mistake and corrected it.

glad you got hte meds Jaye
crissy how is yor co worker ? sending T&P for her.
lots of rain today
will be pressing cider until Nov
my joints are killing me !
wet and damp day

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Alright, here's what happened with my co-worker Shana:

We just had an office discussion about Shana and Ginger spent all day with her yesterday. It turns out that she did know she was having problems and the last time she felt movement was on Wednesday. Her husband, Ryan, was having dreams the week before that they had lost the baby, and on Friday morning when she was getting ready for work she felt a 'heaviness' to her and she told Ryan that she thinks the baby is gone and couldn't wait to get to the ultrasound appointment that morning. She didn't tell anybody this. When she delivered they said the placenta was too small and there was a section of it that was necrotic. They got to be with their baby for 5 hours and they took pictures and had her feet and hands imprinted into a plaque, they put some of her stuff in a box and the funeral is Wednesday morning at 10 and there are a few of us who can't go, like I have a hair appointment at 9am that's going to take 2 1/2 hours. I'm trying to change it but this gal is very high maintenance so if not there's nothing I can do.

i used to belong to a sewing group that made funeral clothes for preemies that passed on after birth or situations like the one your co worker is going through.
the last thing a mom wants to do is go shopping for funeral clothes for her precious baby.
we also made blankets, hats and a cuddle thingy for the preemies. kept them warm.
it was fun. i enjoyed it.
that was back in Arizona.
That may be my winter project this year again. Then donate them.
I just realy feel for her . Tim ( My DH ) and his 1st wife had a similar situation . She was 7 months and lost the baby. many prayers going out to her and papa.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Crissy it will be really hard on Shana, since this is her first, I presume.
Do the best you can for her.. if not for the funeral, later. Take her out if you could, for lunch. That would lift up her spirits.

Sue, I don't know of anyone here that does that. Not even our church.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Sue, what a wonderful thing for your group to do! I would have just automatically thought they would use any clothing that they'd bought for the baby from shower gifts (sometimes they have a shower before birth, so there are items of clothing).
When I was expecting my first, my ex gave me a family ring - I heard from a few people that this was bad luck........ well it wan't and I'm talking to my firstborn now lol

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I'll try to be here more often....I'm spending a lot of time with Dad who's having a very, very tough time right now. He has decided to stay in Independent Living with a few additions to his day. He will have help with his meds each morning, be wearing a "Lifeline" pendent and eat his evening meal at the main campus by way of shuttle. So pray for us that soon he will get the hang of things and settle some. Your prayers have meant so much to us....keep em coming!

Once again I am begging for donations for JDRF Walk for a Cure. It is the juvenile diabetes research foundation and it's a very worthy cause.

You can donate online here just put in my name (Joyce Thomas) and Jordyn's team name (Jordyn's Jammers). Any and all amounts are appreciated and helpful.
https://secure3.convio.net/jdrf3/site/SPageServer?pagename=walk_myevents

Keep us ALL in your prayers.

I love all of you,
Cookie

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Cookie, I went to the site but I think I did something wrong as I never got asked about an amount to donate. Can I send a check to you instead????

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Her baby shower was scheduled for Saturday, they discovered there was no heartbeat on Friday so she didn't have hardly anything yet, which is actually probably for the best. I think that since she knew she was having problems it lessened the blow a little bit for her but we didn't know that. She's not alone, she has her sisters, her mom, her husband, her 3 step kids, people from the building keep popping in at her house, someone is delivering dinner to them every night, she's got a lot of people around her and she's very taken care of. I donated to the cost of the funeral yesterday, I live too far away to fix dinner and take it to her, and I got to change my hair appointment to next Monday so that's good. She's my co-worker, not really a friend, we love each other but live two complete different lives way too far away from each other, other than here at work.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Try this Barb http://www2.jdrf.org/site/PageServer?pagename=walk_homepage
In the bottom box, "Donate to a Walker" type in Joyce Thomas and the team name is Jordyn's Jammers.

Ooops.. call.. brb

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You did good Crissy. Money is always in demand at the most unplanned times. I pray her husband will be her main pillar of support.

((((Cookie))) Yes, we'll continue to pray for your dad and that he keeps his wits around him.
Don't feel that you're not needed, Cookie. He knows who he can turn to when he needs. You are well aware I'm sure that he's just clinging on to his independence while he still can.
Perhaps the new activity will be good for your dad. Maybe in the beginning, he'd be keeping to himself.. but later.. he'd inevitably interact with the shuttle driver and the other regular diners. Can you imagine the bragging rights he'd have on his family?
I've been to your part of the world, and folks there are very nice.

Rain, rain, rain. Got sloshed in the rain running errands. Didn't catch the news this morning nor yesterday, but I'm prepared for the rest of the week!
Got gumbo and soup fixins' and also a slab of corned beef!! Wooohoooo.. not one but 2 heads of cabbage!! Farts.. get ready!!

Taking the right meds now. Goodness, I have to color code my med bottles now??? Too vain to put on glasses!! Serves me right!!

Susan there is not a lot of preemie clothes for infants that are born very very early ( such as in crissys co worker ) . If they are only 2 lbs no clothes fit . not even the smallest preemie clothes, since most preemie clothes are for babys born around 5 lbs and up.
jaye this was a program called Sewing for Babies. i m not sure they are still around ?
but you could always check with a local hospital ?
tried to make apple dumplings but i just can't make it to the point where i can make a profit ? i broke down the cost and welllllllp ??? it ain't gonna happen :(
oh well...
bbl

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Sue I'll be up there shortly to help you eat all of those apple dumplings, since there's no profit anyway lol!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thanks Jaye - I got through that time and made my donation...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I'm not going to be able to make a donation :*( I forgot to pay half my property taxes this past spring and now it's all due and there went all of my money.

bummer crissy. :(
i don't like property taxes.
well apple dumpings are almost gone. better hurry up crissy
just emotional eating today. :(

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Glad you could donate, Barb. I wonder if Cookie will be using her crutches or hopefully, be wheeled for the walk.

Aww Crissy.. property taxes eat us too!!! Such is the bane of us that own a little!!

Not going to check that out, Sue. I'll stick to squares and quilts!!
Last time I did something good was for the quilts for a children's hospital. I'm ashame to say my motivation level is almost non-existent.
I'm trying to control this roller coaster of emotional eating too sistah.
Told doctor I need help.. he says it's willpower!!! He's one that's reluctant to give me anything.. even for depression!! (Think I have some).
Give me what's left of that apple dumplings Sue. It will go well with Bailey's right?

LOL yes everything goes well with Baileys :)
feel better Jaye. Have you tried taking some extra vitamins ?
i m tired
good night

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

ok - techies out there - If a WPS file (Microsoft Works) is moved onto an MS Word Office program, and you download a "converter" why will a WPS label file change into a regular word document with none of the Label attributes? In other words, a 3 across/10 down label file becomes a 2 down label file in an 8 1/2x11 sheet? btw - the font is Huge!
oh yeah, and how do I change it back to a 30 label page??

This message was edited Sep 20, 2011 6:21 PM

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry Susan, don't know anything about that!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thanks Sue - how are you feeling, btw?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Susan you might want to ask that question to one of the computer guru's on the computer forum. It sounds like the converter might be doing it, or Works just isn't set up to handle Word documents correctly, even with a converter.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I did - haven't heard anything back though.
