Cindy, let us know how your mum's doing. Your immediate family sure can count on you for help.
Sure would be easy for you both if Doug's living much closer.
You're looking good in that pic, girl.

Well Sue, I've never heard of Konjac. Care to explain and what does it taste like? I've been adding molasses to my coffee daily, to build up my iron. Been doing this for more than a month now. Just 1 tbspn daily.
My blood sugar count has been much lower, surprisingly. At first I didn't trust the sites that said unsuphured molasses helped in stabilizing the sugar as 1 tbspn has 10 grams of sugar. But after a couple of weeks, it truly helped me. Instead of 64 units of Humalog, before every meal, I've been taking 60 and had not taken any Lantus (long lasting insulin). My morning sugar readings are normally above 250. Lately it's been below 200.
When I told my doctor about my legs, he said it could be my sugar. Told him of my readings.. he goes.. "it must be a fluke, use a new meter". Got a new meter and the readings are still A Plus!!

Rest now Susan.. you've certainly burnt up a lot of calories!

Some interesting reading here.

Rest????? s'funny you should mention having burnt up calories - Jackie's sister Marilyn said the same thing - that I would have lost 5 lbs at the rate I was "bopping along" lol I don't Think So LOL

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Am I first? Jaye meant to tell you..................before we left for the Redwoods I had to cut back 2 of my Brugs because of spider mites :( Others were doing good but now grasshopers of these green worms are eating them. Doug found a green worm in our "Herb Garden" lol little sucker ate a lot leaves. So we went to a garden shop called Two Chix and got some stuff that KILLS grasshoppers! It is pricey but it goes a long ways. OROBOOST 1 quart is $45.

When we got home from the Redwoods one of the Brugs i cut back had several new leaves. I also had a clipping in the house. I am going to make this an indoor Brug, my laundry room is the perfect place for it ^_^

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

hate to disappoint you, Cindy, but I was first (what a change!!)

Jaye that is great news on the sugar levels. Eh what do doctors know anyway about our bodies LOL

Robyn and I joined Bertie and Herb at the Viewing, Funeral and after Gathering today.
It was a wonderful service.

Joyce's Mother Wanda wrote it... or rather set things in motion which her Minister ran with.
Basically it seems she made a tape years back of herself playing the Piano.
On the tape were her and Lloyd's 10 favorite hymns.
4 were used in the Service. Quotes from the lyrics of the others were used in the Sermon.
Quite Moving.

Daughter and Father are doing well as can be expected.
She has a Wonderful Family and they are surrounding them w/ Love.

Absolutely beautiful, Ric - seems Wanda had the same favourite hymns are we sing at our church. These 4 are sung by our choir. We are a United church, which is Methodist, Congregation, and Pentacostal combined.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

What a wonderful service. A great tribute to Cookie's family and her Mom......May God Bless Them All

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!

Barb I agree, that is a wonderful tribute to Cookie's family!

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!

I am back from vacation, lol now i need a real vacation. Lots of riding and running and DRIVING!
Ah but so well worth some of the most spectacular scenery...Not to mention fresh air.

We, satrted out at the Cottage over the weekend (LD weekend) it was Cold and rainy!! However had some real good quality time just being together.
The kids joined us and we just had a ball, did some fishing and relaxing...
They left on Monday morning and Steve and I head out for the Great North!! Went to see my family. Very nice visits with all and especially y nieces and nephew.
Unfortunately my photo's of them didn't turn out that great, hard to take pics when they are in fast motion! LOL.

Jaye, so glad your blood counts seem to be doing good. Sure hope your feet get better or are better by now...

Sue and Ric, Thank you so much for sharing all the beautiful Tribute about Joyce's Mom.

Dear Joyce,I am sending big Arm Wraps to you and your family. I know how hard it is, but am so glad she went home in Peace..

Marion!! Happy Belated Birthday dear Sistah! I thought about you all day. Was driving home...5 hours in the new truck and I was driving!! OMG talking about being a nervous wreck, lol would have much rather been making your ham & cheese omolett. ...roflol, cant remember how to spell that!!!
Anyway, Hope your day was full of fun and love...Hope your trip to be with mom goes well.

Hahahha, Sistah Jaye, was so laughing at your dream! LOL, I/we musta been on your mind, lol, better send me one of them big boulder holders if i got your uh girls. got to say too I have only played tennis once in my whole life, hehehe...
Well i took a picture of one of Sabrina's photo's for you, but i can't find it anywhere, strange!

Well, so while we were gone, My Boy got to get to take his first lesson in the mini van..of course dad got the honors of that!! He kept begging me to take him but I sad, Are you kidding? I can't even be in the car with Dad on these roads!! But we have been practicing every day in the our neighbor hood and today I let him get on the busy Road, for a block!

Well, then i have been busy getting things back in order. And Yesterday, i sat down and forced myself to Re-write my Resume!! Now that all my travels and visiting is over, I want to begin my job search again! So, wrote a "killer" Resume at least I hope...Is anyone in the position of Hiring people with Resumes?? Maybe you could take a look at it and tell me what you think or better yet Hire me! LOL.

Sue, Awe my gosh, you sure have been working out lots. I hope this is helping you to feel better...So sweet of you to take this person in, hope that works out as well and i hope she is able to help you out in return!

OK, got to get some things done...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ric and Robin, thank you so much!
You don't know how much I appreciate this. It's like we were there too through your eyes and hearts. I can't thank you enough for sharing your 'visit'.
Such a wonderful service for a great mother to our Cookie here.
I recalled Cookie saying that her folks had their funeral all planned.
When Cookie pointed their surname on their wall, "Nicodemus", I was awed!!! Such a biblical name for a very Christian pair.
There's a line on the card that says "I leave you the sunshine of tomorrow". Cookie's other nickname is also "Sunshine".
Thanks again Ric. God bless you both!

Sistah Judy!! Woohooo!! You need that vacation gurl!! With all that's going around you, it's time for good memories!! Glad you get to see your family.
Yah how about that? Maybe I was transferring my thoughts on missing you and God decide to let you visit me in my dreams!! I haven't met LK, but she looks just like her pictures but she wore pink!! How dare she!
Now for resumes.. not an expert here.. if not I'll be landing jobs! Maybe if you could ask Cookie later? She'll be happy to hear from you.
Gosh.. Jacob better help you and Steve out more. That insurance will cost you both a pretty penny.

Not into halloweens, LK.. sorry.

Cindy, that's a little too much for my pocket right now. Fall is drawing near, and maybe next year I'll look for Oroboost. I've never seen it in the big box stores here. Thanks.

Sue, thank you for giving me that link. I appreciate that. Aha.. Konjac is Glucomann?? Wow.. didn't know that.
It's a fiber, that's long been used for dieters, and that's why you need plenty of water! I don't think I'll be using glucomann any time soon. I have GERD now Sue so that's not good for me. You be careful please.
Have fun with your friend Sue!! You're truly a sweetheart.

I've been baaaaad today!! Spent a lot of hours in FB!! Yak with family and sistahs from both!! Check your FB, you might get an invite!

Just got through prayers, and after I've visited the other site... I'm elevating my feet!!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

ahem, Jaye, as for you being baaaaaaad - I love you, but Not gonna join FB for any more chats. I'm on DG, Cubits, and ATP (I wasn't sure I would do That one, but I am.......) and will not join another chat, m'dear!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Sorry I missed your call, Susan.. I had to rush to the WC!!!
I don't do ATP, and the only reason for FB group is because my family tend to chat there plus some sistahs stay there for their own reasons!! It's impossible for me to open 3 windows when I'm online. But I'll still be here. FB is just a social thingy.. not like DG.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Ya, Cubits became a social thing, which is why they created ATP so, I socialize on ATP.
Neither of us is "wrong", just have our preferences. I don't have out-of-country family like you do - mine is much closer, and I can call them for free, so I'm ok for that.
I guess I forget how lucky I am to have High speed internet, not dial-up.......... Never mind, dear sistah - eventually the prison High Speed will come to you!! roflmfao!

good morning
the visit with my friend is good. I m getting lots of good advice.
she is going to teach me how to hook up with the postal service so i can do my own mailing . ! print lables ect....
today i go to work and clean the cider press room for tomorrow. Tomorrow is the official day we start to make cider.
rained all night last night.
so outside project will have to wait. I hope my black raspberrys get rooted in time for winter. i finely got them in. nexxt is strawberrys. but i don't know ? if they will root enought to establish ? still pondering that one ?
good day to you all
hugs
sue

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!

Sue, glad to hear your learning from your friend.

Happy Birthday Thunder! Hope you have a great day!

Red white and blue cake just for you!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Happy Birthday wishes Thunder - may your day be great and the year ahead full of all you could wish for......

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Happy Birthday Thunder!! Hope today is one perfect day for you dear! May beautiful fabrics be included in your celebration ;)

That time of the year Sue? You'd be tired of apples!!
Glad your friend is showing how you can simplify things. That's one road trip you can avoid, the post office.
I will have to try growing black raspberries. The golden ones thrive here.

Morning Barb!
What's your sewing plans?
This in my mind as to what to do.. to gather fabrics for the nieces..and then decide on simple bag plans.. all for Christmas!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye they will love those bags. What kind of fabric are you looking for?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

All will be cotton, LK. Which I have plenty of, but not enough P.
The youngest niece loves P. Since I know she loves frogs.. somewhat I'm thinking of P buttons on a frog purse, can you?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Happy Birthday, Thunder dear!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You can do pink buttons Jaye! it is just a small amount of pink, besides it is for someone else. Not like your keeping it for yourself!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Jaye - what a wonderful idea! P buttons on a froggie purse! I know they'll love 'em!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yah, P buttons, you handled once.. but fabric.
Did a little girl's quilt and mama wanted some pink. Followed Sue's advice, a little accent on some blocks, but still I cringe each time I have to handle it.
This is the quilt. Sorry.. it's a little blurry.
All the blocks are different.. more like an I spy quilt. The backs have different interesting fabrics.. but no P.

Thumbnail by heavenscape
TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Meant to sayv the borders around the squares are different.

Don't think that I went truly bananas when I have to use P... but enough for me to ask my late mum "Y"!!! Lol.
Did a quilt as you go.. but row by row. Went faster that way.
So child can have another side.
The quilt went to Singapore. Postage? About $100!!
Her aunt is my BFF living in Tn. She happily paid for it :D

Thumbnail by heavenscape
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

$100.00? Wow, that is expensive! Love that quilt!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

thanks Y'all I had a great day...and yes it included fabric!!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

That's wonderful Thunder - wish you many more. Great quilt Jaye - even with the P!!!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Afternoon!!
No coffee today. Started late as power went out for 4 hours this morning. There was a minor storm, brought in low temps with the rain.

Instead of purses, I might just make use of my jelly rolls and dothrows. Those they'll keep forever, I hope. So.. 3 throws for the 3 girls.
Alex will still get an easy USA throw.
My sister had told me, if I sent the tops only, her neigbor might be able to help her quilt or tie them. Like this I'll save on postage.
I know.. better get started!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Just got home from my temp job - taking minutes in a meeting. Phew! boy was there ever a lot of emotion there! I'm actually surprised they don't mind me taking the original handwritten copy home to transcribe them.
I have all the attendees emails and will send them to everyone......
Likely take a couple of hours to transcribe them (after I take a lunch break!! I'm hungry - it's 2:40 and I was there since 9am this morning, with no breaks!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

My co-worker needs prayers, she was 7 1/2 months pregnant and ecstatic about having this baby, she went in for her normal 2 week ultrasound at 10am this morning and there was no heartbeat. They're just now inducing and going to give her 24 hours to deliver her stillborn, if that doesn't work they will have to do a c-section.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Prayers for your co-worker - hope she knows that the Lord needed one more cheribim....... hope He helps settle her soul about the stillbirth of her baby...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yes indeed Crissy. Will say prayers for mama.

You're bringing work home, Susan. One sign of dedication your new boss will notice.

It's cool.. in the high 60s, not hurting the tropicals yet.
Hope it stays this way for the whole of September right up to November!

ETA: Agreeing with Susan that Lord needs and angel..

This message was edited Sep 16, 2011 6:30 PM

Oh crissy that is just awful. i m so sorry to hear the news about your co worker. Sending T&P for her and baby in heaven.
well my first day at apple cider pressing was good. but we are doing more work then last year since he has cut emplyoee's .
so i have to do 2 peoples work, got a raise. :)
it wont be a busy year. not a good apple season for us.
we shall see on monday how sales went.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

At least your boss gave you a raise for doing extra work. He's a good man. Lots of companies nowadays aren't that generous. My old work place was one. Reduced staff and expect existing employees to pick up more work at the same pay.

Crissy, I pray your friend has a wonderful network of supportive family and friends like you.
