Forgot to say that we got a little more rain while I was gone. It is still hot but generally in the low 90's which is tolerable, especially with the new a/c. I can't begin to describe how beautiful it is here. All blue and green and the skies are so clear. It is so sad to see the smog in So. Ca. When you all make your trip here no one will ever want to leave.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Katie, glad to see you are home safely but sad that you are in so much pain! I can just imagine how very overwhelmed Tony must have been to get extra dollars to help him out..grandest part of life is to be able to give..regardless if it's big/small, just to see someone's face light up and make life that little bit easier for them.

Thea, omg you will have so much fun! Wish I could tag along..brother Bernie leaves Sunday and will be only miles from Barb..had I not taken so much time off this summer and have plans for several trips coming up I would have hitched a ride..both Ann and I said you just never know, might get a crazy notion one weekend to start the car and Barb watch out..most likely it will not be till spring...

Going to find out this week when the company will shut down for Christmas and I might just pack my travel trailer, head south and see who I can drop in on for a day...

Was just taking a 5 minute break and saw my snow plow man at the door, yikes not yet please..at least wait for snow before coming for $500 snow plow dollars..nope, Kyle had told him about the boulder that had worked it's way out of the ground in the drive, high enough to do damage to underneath chasis of the car if you didn't know it was there, sooo it's now gone..told me just to give him $30.00 for backhoe/truck gas...I am thrilled..

He had cancer about 3 years ago, was told he'd not survive due to the type..well here we a rem he's cancer free and they will check him out every 2 months for next 5 years..lucky young man!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Katie, packing my bags if you will have me...how long of a drive?? Wish I was there..
Glad it's cooler for you....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

My co-worker needs prayers, she was 7 1/2 months pregnant and ecstatic about having this baby, she went in for her normal 2 week ultrasound at 10am this morning and there was no heartbeat. They're just now inducing and going to give her 24 hours to deliver her stillborn, if that doesn't work they will have to do a c-section.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Just got home from minute taking at a co - 9am to 2pm, with only a 20 min break while they went "in camera". It was quite an emotional meeting, and I cautioned them that swearing is not proper.
I have the original handwritten minutes and now will be transcribing them - should be another 2 hours.
Gosh - I'm mentally drained right now.....

Haven't had a meeting with the 2 fellas re: my impending job with Technocity Computers. They have my resume, and I know they've been extremely busy getting the building "up and running" so I will be patient and wait.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ooooooh Crissy - your poor friend!! I'm sure she's distraught over the baby being stillborn.
My prayers are going up for her, to the Lord to calm her soul, and realize the He needs another cheribim.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sending prayers as well Crissy, how very sad! She will need you as a friend Crissy! Had she been feeling unwell?

Susan, I can just see you giving them the what for..you can do your minutes at home?

I loved taking minutes..remember Council telling me I was too exact..had to be more vague..guess when others read the minutes the knew exactly who said what and who was voting for/against! Do you have to provide the minutes tonight or for Monday?

Wonder how Judy's work day went!

Think I'll have a bath and get my jammies on..if it is as nice tomorrow as it was today it will be perfect weather but just in last hour you can feel temperature falling quickly and I'm feeling culled. Would rather call it an early night and be up before sunrise and get all in order.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty no, she hasn't been sick throughout this whole pregnancy. I figure the baby probably hadn't been gone very long or she would have been sick from it. She wanted this baby soooo bad. Poor thing.

Susan when her husband called we could hear her crying in the background and she had JUST had the ultrasound done. I think this is the worst possible scenario for anyone to go through.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Heart goes out to her Crissy..they had to take 2 babies from me within a few years, both girls! You never get over it..through the years you often wonder what might have been, what kind of young women they might have become..

At the time, doctors felt it would help the healing process and left me on maternity ward..I'd watch mothers come in and I would watch them leave with their bundle of joy..never did think it was helpful..I thought it was cruelty..

Tummy is just churning, that poor woman and best we not forget her hubby..he'll be going through a he'll of his own!

Just checking in finally! DH has been home today with the sniffles so my day hasn't been my own.

I had so many things I wanted to say, but it all just flew out of my head when I read your post, Chrissy. Sending my T&P's to her and of course to her DH. That's so sad!

Thea, I did want to thank you for the kind words. Moses is such a blessing and a real miracle ... even his name is a testamony to that. ☺

Oh, and guess what? I found the book online, so will be reading it this week-end with the rest of y'all. LOL Now I can find out what that remark is all about. hehehe

Betty, hope you have a perfect day tmr!

Debbie, How are you feeling today?

Barb, sending prayers for good test results. I'll eat some greasy food for you, too! LOL

Okay, Mary ... this picture is for you. For those who might not can tell, it's a picture of my Meyer lemons. I can't wait to be able to pick them. Of course, this was taken a couple of months ago. Can't remember exactly when ...

I'm bathed, fed and jammies on..Riley has snuggled between me and back of chesterfield, guess you could say we are settled in for the evening!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I can so picture you and Riley Betty. I'm so very glad we awere able to visit with you this year. Now when you say things like "settled on the Chesterfield" I can "see" you!!!.
Sending wishes that tomorrow goes wonderfully for you and all your family. I'm sure all your hard work will be appreciated.
One more week Thea!!!
Thank all of you so much for your kind wishes on my behalf. I'm dying now for a really greasy hamburger!!! And I do appreciate all your efforts to eat for me. Actually, that sounds like a great diet to me....
Crissy, your friend is in my prayers. What a shame, The only person I know who had a stillborn was my sister-in-law and she had to carry the baby to term...It is such a sad thing.....
Norm is home again --- see you all later...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was settled in for the evening, not seconds after pressing send did DIL Melanie drop in for the evening..Kyle andgreg were off to Toronto for the Apple Srore, Kyle was having iPad trouble...Noah at teen dance so Mel and I just chatted! She thought she could help me but all is done with time to spare! Says she's on this new diet and has lost 7 lbs this week so will be bringing her own food.

Melanie has been bad, been looking after her girlfriends puppy last few days and has been teaching him to do things he ought not to Lol

If you watch this clip you will see what!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4F77jl_lk_I

Barb, I feel the same, those I've visited I now can imagine exactly where they are in the house, gardens and when they are off to town, know how long it takes them...really neat!

Bed time..waving night/night to all

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All ! Happy Friday to those who will have a few days off this weekend! I thought today would never come. Many Hugs for your Friend Crissy ... how sad...Betty - I suppose that was cruel to make you watch the other Maternity patients...
SUSE-US: Okay as official "kicker offer" of the Whirligig Traveling book... I deem it "okay" for you to read online..... as long as someone eventually sends you the paperbook copy so you can sign the back with the rest of us ! LOL
You are a mind reader to send the Meyer Lemon pic.... that is the #1 tree that DH wants to plant. We just need to find room....
Katie - I can't wait to come see you and the beautiful scenery there... You and Tony are both lucky to have each other.... I know he appreciates you !
THEA ! You are so sweet to remember everyone... Yes we have TWO Whirligig's whirling around out there... I suppose Susan can send one to Betty and the other one, whoever has it can come to you..... So envious and excited about your visit with Barb !
Hope the pain goes away or becomes manageable.

((HUGS)) Laura and Shirley - So nice to see you Shirley ! Thought of you Labor Day weekend... with my KFC chicken to kick off my travels...

BELLE is BUGGING ME to throw the ball !

Baton Rouge, LA

Okay - Belle has been thrown the Ball...

Betty that is hilarious! Lastly wanted to wave to you and Barb... I simply can not imagine temps in the 30s! We'll prob have 90s tomorrow.

DS is off and wants to earn some extra $ so I'll begin getting my front yard beds dug ...maybe plant them Sunday. Have a Candlestick plant and another Rose of Sharon that can go there...

((HUGS)
Mary

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

that video was great!!! my last dog used to go into the bathroom and put his front paws up on the sink, when he knew someone was going down the hallway....if you went into the bathroom and turned on the water for him, he would drink from the faucet!!! I kept saying we should get a water bubbler for him....and he loved to drink from the hose when we were outside....

Betty, sure hope your day is awesome tomorrow...tell your Momma I wish her a Happy day...

Oh Mary ... what kind of dog is Belle? We're still having those temps too. The weather liars keep talking about a cold front, but I haven't felt it so far. LOL

Oh gosh Betty, it's a long story ... I'll Dmail you the link. I don't want to take over the thread. ☺ I don't think it will be much longer before the lemons will be ready. They're beginning to turn now ... crossing fingers.

My neighbor was mowing and stumbled up on a yellow jacket nest between our houses. It was huge ... I'm so glad he saw it. It could have been very dangerous ... We called an exterminator, and he said there were literally hundreds .

Well, I've done a poor job of speaking to everyone tonight, but just know I'm sending prayers to everyone who is hurting and in need ... I'm not gonna name names because I'll forget someone, and I don't want to do that.

Betty ... have a ma va lus day tomorrow!

Off to start my book!

Lyndonville, NY

Good night Suse! and Moses!

Just a quick pop in. Crissy is without electricity.....so no post for her tonight.

Betty, please give Mama Fran a big birthdayhug from me tomorrow.....she is a special lady in my book....as are you!

Baton Rouge, LA

Thunder - That is hilarious... Belle LOVES water...and especially running water...Can't water the back yard without her jumping to drink from the hose...

SUSE-US - Belle is a Lab/Terrier Mutt... Hubs 'found' her a year and 2 months ago... she was actually looking for us... we had been everywhere looking for "our" new family member and there she wanders out in the street ... Suse - thank goodness about the yellow jackets ...that coudl have been a bad situation !

(((HUGS)) Debbie - my sister....get a good nights rest ! Wonder what is up with Crissy's electricity!

I'm up later than I should be .... can't sleep and just lonely. I'll regret it tomorrow when I try to get up and get everything done. Should be able to plant the first front Yard bed tomorrow.... I would LOVE to make it a jungle out there.....

I had planned a "Garden Get Together" at my house next Saturday... and planning to attend a Swap on 10/22... so I have plenty to do. I hope folks show up next week... only have a few rsvps so far....

Enjoy, don't overwork yourself, and Have Fun!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Shivering here, burr. 43 degrees! Wanted to be out of bed by 4:30am but 5:30 it was and I just want to cuddle in with the furries but not..much had to be left for this morning..want to sit and gab with you all but, must run!!

Will take loads of photo's, and if I get to take a break I'll be sure to sit with you awhile

Will give your birthday wishes to mom!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Just a quick hello to all! Crissy, sending hugs to the one that lost her baby. I know it is not an easy thing to do.
Betty, hope your party to day for you Mom is a good one!

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Good Morning!

I thought I'd check in. Sorry to hear about your friend Crissy. My prayers and thoughts are with her and her family. It's hard, but God knows best.

It's rainy and cool again. I'm gonna go into Omaha and do a few errands and then if it dries off when I get home I will finish mowing. I have to unload the vehicle with jugs of water and chick feed before I go. I started working on cleaning up my office area yesterday so maybe I can finish that. I have to work tomorrow. Things have been really slow at the hospital so have been called off a few times. There's not much for news going on here.

Hope everyone has a lovely week end and everyone gets to feeling better soon. Take care and chat later.

Shirley

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Because I don't have kids I didn't think about her husbands 3 young kids he has from a previous marriage, his first wife turned to drugs and ran out on him and all 3 kids so he has 100% full custody with no visitation, Shana married him when those 3 kids were very small, the oldest is 11 and the youngest is 7 I think, Shana has been married to him 5 1/2 years. He had to tell those three kids what happened to Shana and why there isn't going to be a baby sister right now. I haven't heard anything yet, I just hope she can give birth to the stillborn and won't have to have a c-section, and I hope they can determine immediately what happened. She only had 1 1/2 months to go, she was due on Thanksgiving day. I'm still wondering how long it had been since she had felt movement, she wasn't sick at all and I know having something that has passed on inside of you will make you quite ill.

On a different note, thanks Debbie for letting everyone know that my power was out, Dave was right in the middle of cooking dinner, we ended up at the local truck stop and I had breakfast lol It was back on by 7:45pm but I had other plans and went to bed at 9:30! LOL

Alright, Dave came in and said something and I lost my thought LOL!!!

Took a ride to the next town over this morning. It is their "Old Home Days" celebration and Brandon was marching in the band. He sure does look good in a uniform!!! It's a tad big for him - they ordered him a larger size because this will be his uniform all through high school and he is still growing!!!! Towers over me now....

Thumbnail by Quilter5bdsr
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Brandon looks so "smart" in his uniform! Of course he'll grow into it, but one hopes he doesn't grow "out" of it before he finishes high school lol

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sean is learning trombone too so maybe he can take over for Brandon!!! Sean hits high school one year after Brandon graduates.

I know you're proud of him, Barb. ☺ How are you feeling today?

I got 8 broccoli plants planted today ... with the DH's help, of course. LOL We even found 2 stray tomatoes out on the bedraggled tomato vines. Don't know what they'll taste like, but they're bound to be better than store bought.

Off to thaw something to cook for tomorrow's lunch after church tomorrow ... Will check in later to see if Betty has checked in with a report ...

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

We had a tragedy in the family last week. Friday was the first day where I had time off so I grabbed the camera and the dog and took a drive to cranberry country. I've lived in southeast Massachusetts for decades but never saw an actual cranberry harvest. I tried catching it last year but was too late.
I assembled a photo blog http://dailypics.ning.com/profiles/blogs/cranberry-harvest if anyone is interested. Click any image to see larger.

More prayers for crissy's friend.

When I paid Tony today he told me, with tears in his eyes that I am his angel. I told him that he is mine, too. We both feel so lucky to have each other. I don't think either of us has had someone we could depend on the way we can depend on each other. I'm really glad we are so able to appreciate each other. With his father sick and two boys in college it's huge for him to have some extra help. And I'd never be able to keep my property up without him. Nor would I have the acceptance in the community that I do if it weren't for him and his family. We are both so grateful for each other that it's almost sickening.

My right arm is still messed up. I can barely lift it above shoulder level. Don't know what I did to it. It is gradually getting better and I'm slowly getting fabric laundered and folded. I think ironing and cutting will have to wait until the arm is better. I'm resting a lot - pain is exhausting.

I'll be back sometime early next week.

hugs, katie

Baton Rouge, LA

Katie - so glad you have someone who is a blessing to you and you to him ! Sarah - that is very interesting about the cranberry harvest ! I always wondered if they really do have them all in water like that....

Katie - my right arm hurts like that too but I had a tetanus shot Thursday... did you get any shots while in CA that may have made it sore?

Best : Got outside, pretty day and got some cuttings done for the upcoming swap. Hope they "take". I went to a new shop that opened up nearby "Hydroponics". Hubby and I had a laugh about the "Market" for this shop... but they had some different pots that my hibiscus might like, and I bought some calcium additive that is supposed to make the Hibbies better able to weather the winter. Plus some neem oil extract.

Worst: Hubs left the water running Thursday and today I had to find and dispose of our koi and another fish. I wondered why Belle had been smelling like Pond Water for days...

Learned: I am learning a lot about cuttings.

Paid DS to make a new "bed" in the front yard. Tomorrow Hubs and I will add dirt and I'll plant my candlestick and Althea that I got from April's Swap. Trying to figure out some evergreen shrubs for the area as well.

I bought 4 new koi and a "Pride of Barbados".... going to look that up now... it makes a pretty unusual flower...

HUGS !
Mary

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ooooh Mary - so sorry that you "lost" your koi to Belle!

Best - went to Cross Iron Mills (big mall with Bass Pro Shops as part of it) with my friend. We went in the clothing stores and also houseware stores. I bought some decorations for the church's Fall Supper, so I'm happy.

Worst - got an email from the fellow who hired me to take minutes at his meeting on Friday, and he's unhappy with me. Oh Well, his prob. He's taking it out on me because he was all-but-fired at his own meeting by the attendees!

Learned - Nothing really LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, seems forever since I posted. Lol. Some good, some bad!

Special Welcome Paul, sorry about the family tragedy, sending prayers and hugs! Sometimes being on your own for a day with a furry Is just what is needed. Have to check where you are in Massachusetts.

Just settling in with a coffee while all are sleeping and will take time to view the cranberry harvest.we have a large Cranberry farm in our region as well, Bala cranberry festival..Oct. 14th for 3 days, brings in hundred of visitors for all the events..top notch craft show which I love!..

Dianne, you must of sent me the perfect weather.. After my last post I headed into town, everything went tickatyboo, back by 10am and started to decorate the yard, looked so pretty..finished at 12:30 and no sooner got cleaned up did everyone arrive..guess about 50..had more than enough food, even have some cake left to have with our coffee..having the cake made into 1/2 slab of
white/lemon and other 1/2 chocolate/berries was great, not sure how they keep the 2 slabs together before icing ??

Mom enjoyed herself, got a lot of pretties, her brother who is dealing with cancer as the moment managed to c me, some cousins she hadn't seen in an eternity came as well.. Several grandchildren did not, as she only pays
attention to one, the most troublesome one, they feel they've no grandmother..the rest I'm sure it is more to intermingle with themselves than a celebration for her, regardless they came and made a big deal of their attention to her..got to love. My boys...Jeff entertained everyone..had us in stitches half the day...an old family friend of Roger and I came for the day, so old memories of days of old were relived, he hadn't seen many of them since Roger's funeral 20 years ago

Best I press send before I write a novel and it go into cybrespace

Laughing, telephone just rings, Greg wanting to gab with his brother, wake Jeff and tell him Greg needs to talk with him, 'why on earth can't he ask me the same question after 10am'?? Greg is an early riser and he and family are off for the Terry Fox walk this morning for cancer research. Took Jeff about 2 seconds to be back into a deep sleep.

Susan, omg I know you must be upset about the minutes, you did say it was an emotional meeting..was it that you included much of the heated discussion..kudos to you..think half the time minutes don't reflect enough of what is going on within and should do so so employers/shareholders would have a better understanding of how decisions come to be.
Glad you aren't focusing on his comments..

Omg Mary, had I posted yesterday about my day I would have said the loss of my 2koi, only have 3 and don't see the other..worried about what I was going to do with them overwinter now I'll not be fretting..no more fish in my ponds..don't like what happens..and Mary, did the same, thought I'd top up the water and let it overflow slightly and forgot the hose running, guess cold water, either that or the frost..now I see this morning the water level is down about a foot, hoping when Noah went to get the shovel to take them out of the pond that he didn't pierce a hole in it..oh well, worse is new liner.

Glad you got the front deck worked up, you'll have fun making it your own..sounds like you know exactly what you want planted!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

So glad to hear your party went well Betty. I know you worked so hard to be sure that there was plenty to eat and that your garden looked so pretty. Hope your Mom appreciated your efforts. Can't seem to sit too long here so I read as much as possible - post a few comments and then go walk around or lie down. Will check in again later....
Have a wonderful day everyone!!!
