Hi Friends - I had to skim a lot of the posts as I have to get back home. Tony's father has been quite sick and tony did not come to work today so I want to be home in case soemthing really bad has happened.

Debbie, good luck on the surgery. Remember to allow them to wsait oon you hand and foot. If you are moderately pleasant the nurses will love you. So many hospital patients are really sick and often difficult. When I was in overnight for something relatively minor the nurses almost swooned over me .

I came back through Tecate instead of TJ and will probably do that from now on. It add a couple of hours to the trip as I have to go east, then backtrack west but TJ has gotten worse and worse. Tecate is very pleasant. I got asked if I had anything worth over $10,00 and let through when we stopped laughing. I'll probably return to Ca. next week to pick up concrete stuff from my friend in Exeter, Ca. Meanwhile, we got my new air conditioner in and I'm gradually doing permanent straightening up.

Katie that's so true about the nurses! When I had my appendectomy I was super super sick and puking all the time, but when I wasn't the nurses would hide in my room, it was great! So glad you're about home, I know that's a long long drive and TJ is a mess, it's always been bad but the more populated SD gets the worse TJ gets. I've never been through Tecate, if I ever drive that again I'll do that.

Dianne that is so good of those guys to help you out like that, and want nothing in return is awesome, glad they did sit and chat with you, as well as get Warren outside, and have wobbly pops with you, here you just have a beer lol

Debbie, am it's it's just a one night stay! Regardless of how long you have to be in it's to make you feel better and make sure nothing further is going on..now how are we to know how you are doing! Can you provide me with hospital name and telephone number..not letting you go off for 3 days and not know how your are doing!

Hospitals will NOT give out any information on patients anymore at all. Matter of fact, I had to call and get a "time" for DH's appointment Tuesday......they said with HEPA laws they couldn't tell me....except yes or no he had an appointment that day. SO I said I know it is the 20th for him....she said YES....then she said guess a time....and would only say "later" or I would arrive sooner. It is at 2:30 for him!!! They are stuck!

Betty, I recently got an iPhone. Did you know that you could go into the "general settings, then accessibility", and turn on an option called voice over and your iPad would talk? Not that you need it to, but I like to let people know there's an option for all Apple products. ☺

Joyce, I'm sending my sympathy to you and your family. I lost my Daddy back in April so can feel your loss.

Barb, sounds like you had a wonderful trip. I went to Canada when I was a young tean. Beautiful country! I've had the honor of meeting Betty, also. She's a beautiful person! Happy birthday!

Think majority of the nurses are overworked..sue do a job I'd never want to do! But yes, treat them nice and they go beyond regular care to make sure you are ok.

Wow, you've had such a long trip to get home without taking the Tecate detour, but glad you crossed over without mishap..you'll have to rest up before attempt that ride again. How many hours traveling did it total? Hope Tony's father has improved...yeh for air conditioner.

You know Kyle,MHD always has something new to tell me, the other night he asked me why the bite in the apple on the logo ? Do you know why?? Not sure he wasn't joshing me when he told me why? Lol

Left this morning with fabric and sewing supplies all over craft tables, completely forgot the girls were here painting today..never forget that but I did!!

Barb will attest that. Hese painting ladies stop at nothing to help me out...well this morning I did a load of wash -whites and put it in the dryer before leaving..guess the load shut off just as the arrived so they folded the clothes. Just before I left I had a load of dark clothes so put them in the washer, was going to was tonight...well Aline thought she was helping me out, thought the load in washer needed drying so put them n the dryer, dried them, folded them and hung on hangers..what a bunch..now I have to take them all9ff hangers and actually dry them.

Darlene did call me at work though, said she had been walking through the sidenarbour and found my lens for my glasses..oops,already ordered new ones.

should have supper but feel more like getting comfy..cool enough that I just put furnace on.. Usually it's bingo night but tonight they cancelled, game being held tomorrow night so just maybe it will be snuggle in till morning!

Debbie, can't dig that hole yet, you'll need him to wait on you next week..hope he gives you the same love and attention you give him!

Spent most of the day outside. Wow this is perfect weather for me and NO bugs. You still have skeeters Betty? Got to run the splitter for about 4 hours today so am pooped tonight. Watching those guys work makes you real tired!!!lol They wouldn't let me move much of the heavy wood, just run the splitter - I was in seventh heaven, love machines! Wobbly pops for the 3 guys after we were done but I stuck with water today. Warren was feeling so good with the change in his meds he came outside and sat for awhile watching us all work. Told him to enjoy the sight as he has been the worker so many times in the past.

Betty what do you have left to get ready for Saturday's ' big do'?

Don't forget to sign the back cover before you pass it on~ If there is noone on this thread that wants it next I know Misty Meadows would love to read it as would Ponditis.. Kathy is primarily on the Market Gardener threads but has been a wonderful friend and support over the years to and for me on DG.She sent me a book not too long ago called Stick a Geranium in Your Hat and Be Happy by Barbara Johnson. Lani/Ponditis is a very special person too and has been on DG for a looong time. There are some of you that I know would really enjoy it, let me know if you are interested and I will mail it out and we can start a circuit with it. Barb I know you would love it!

Tap home button on screen quickly 3 times and the screen gives you options. Click on voice over ob and as you touch each typed line it speaks the words..when you no longer want it to do same tap quickly 3 times and press voice over off!

Love this exchange of information - isn't the internet and DG wonderful? Wonder where else one could find such instant exchange of information? I guess in our parents' day it was the telephone and then the TV.In our house we didn't get a TV or a refrigerator (we had an icebox) until I was 10 or 11 but dad always listened to the radio and read the newspaper.

What wonderful friends you have Betty!! Coming home to folded laundry is every working woman's dream, well at least mine. LK do you have a long list of foods that YOU know will set your divert ( I am not even going to attempt to spell it but you sure know what I mean!!!) off? A friend of ours who suffers from the same thing was at his 50th Wedding Anniversary dinner with his wife and family and as careful as he is something got past him and he had to be rushed to the hospital right there and then. He felt awful not because he was hurting but that he had ruined the surprize his family had planned for he and his wife.Sure hope this never happens to you. It sounds like you have to travel a distance for health care LK, do you live in a rural area like I do?

So Crissy, Dave is going when and for how long? I know Betty asked and I can't remember your answer - think my age is starting to show I forget things so quickly now.lol Does Dave stay in Cali for the month or will he come home a weekend or two?

Barb how are you and Norm enjoying Norm's new job? Does he have a big territory to cover? I was just thinking about all of his driving in the winter because I would think your winters are quite like what Betty and I get here on Ontario.

Dianne, no truer words, think at one time I may have taken friendship for granted but did learn through a few tragedies that we cannot go through them without these friends, I call Them my earthly angels! Not a day goes by that I am not thankful for them! You just have to wonder what on earth we've done that earned us such friendship..must say sometimes it's complete strangers who have become our savior...hardest part at times is to welcome the help and friendship offered! It's been said if you can count your friends on one hand you are lucky, if more, extremely blessed.

Be cautious on your morning walk Dianne, worry about critters coming out looking for breakfast..

Barb, wanted to say I spoke with Ann today, she was on a high..good results from her visit with Toronto doctor..painting friend spent the day, even brought her a genesis heat set oven (similar to a kiln).. she has mentally accepted that she'll be at least 6 weeks not being able to get around much..since Mike's passing she's made sure she's always on the go so it could be the Lord telling her to slow down. I've been going through decorative artist magazines tonight looking for a pattern she wants..doing memorial boxes for her girls for Xmas ..has some special items if Mike's she wants to leave to the girls..didn't find the pattern and now I've woken myself up.

Told Ann if I wasn't too tired after mom's due I would take her to Meaford Sunday for a ride..we'll see

Dianne, no on Strong....having it done at Lakeside in Brockport. Have had my gallbladder surgery there, and both the younger two born there. I like the new doctor I have so far, so will stick with her unless something else pops up as to why I shouldn't.

Shane isn't working now. Thought I had posted. He was working down at the Golf Course/Bar....and well...lets just say things were getting out of hand and he no longer works full time there. Might fill in here and there...but hasn't in 2 weeks. I am proud of him for saying "no more" in this instance. Nate is working now...anywhere from 28 to 34 hours a week. AND...yes, is chipping in for his food & gas. SO that is a good thing.

Yes Betty, those are tomato cages. My DH built them. I grow my veggies in Earth Boxes or EB's as they're called. He expanded on a cage I found on DG. Here's a pic of some of my tomato plants from this year ...

Oh, and Moses had a birthday last December. I can't believe he'll be 3 this year. We just celebrated our 1st year together in August.

Ha Susan..... They hired a young "Mary" at my work...and they call her "Baby Mary" cuz I said I didn't want to be "old Mary". She apparently didn't want to be called "Baby Mary" so I told them they could call ME that...but no one believed me... I'm the oldest gal in my department. 1 yr older than my supervisor. Would love a nice peaceful walk in crisp fall weather.! I've read about 8 more books by Paul Fleishman....He is a "young adult" author but I do love his stories.... I think you would like Seedfolks (which I sent to Betty and think she sent to Laura).... also "Minds Eye". I also read "Seek" which had details mirroring my own life.. it was eerie !

SusanCA - Yes! Send to Betty - and Betty - when you finish Whirligig see if Kyle will read it ! I think Kyle will like it. Getting Noah to read it might be tough like getting my DS to read it... but if you can........just try.... it's a great book for a young man.....Kyle will enjoy it I do believe ... he is a "thinker".....

Dianne, yes we live in a small town, so if anyone needs a specialist, we drive 160 miles for one! I am not supposed to eat anything with small seeds like strawberries, cucumber, tomato, and no nuts!

Mary, music lessons are going well. He really likes them a lot. I have "heard" an improvement. Amazes me how he will play one song on guitar, then turn around and pick it out...without any music...on the piano.

Best - helped a friend in her catering office, and cleaned/organized her kitchen
Worst - haven't heard from someone who said he wanted to interview me, and see what we can work out for him being able to afford to hire me.
Learned - I don't know all the "quick tricks" in Microsoft Works - I now know how to duplicate typing across a page or more of labels.

Best : Was "allowed" to work because my whooping cough is NOT contagious!

Worst: Was "allowed" to work.... because... LOL.... okay - no .....

Best was really - I think I am close to mastering something at work that is difficult for me....

Worst was that I *fibbed* a bit to miss a meeting so that I could put out a fire on another deal.....

LEARNED: That I don't ever think I can make sense of this crazy place I work.... I am trying to learn to accomodate other options for answers to questions that I am not allowed to contact persons in a certain department on.... (That makes NO sense whatsoever !)
