Betty, they are closing post offices all over here. The one in DD's town is closing, and she will have to drive to next town over. WHICH makes it hard as she doesn't get out of work til after 5:00. Now only time she can go mail something is on a Saturday if it is something she needs assistance with.

I went out and did some errands, came home with a few things I needed for next week....new sweatpants (a size smaller...happy dance) and a new bra (size smaller)....and some odds and ends.

Came home and Shane and his friend Sam were here. Those two made dinner for us!! Wooo Hooo! And Betty....I will not go to jail for this....but Sam is definately eye candy!!!

Lyndonville, NY

Suse, thank you for the hugs, made me feel much better
Hey Crissy ...Pffffft sending a raspberry your way! LOL

Love the rainbow pictures also. We had one out back on Sunday and just couldn't get it to show up in the pictures. There were to many dark clouds blocking the glow.

Betty, glad to hear you have the day off tomorrow.

Great going Debbie!

Betty, I hope you're not coming down with something. The DH came in and went to bed. So unlike him ...

Susan ... yea on the cakes! I'm assuming you bake cakes as a business?

They're talking about changes in our area with the PO, also ... I feel sorry for those people losing their jobs. I'm feeling blessed my DH has one. ☺

Thunder ... so glad you had a nice Bday.

This post was edited to reflect the positive feelings of the thread. I didn't want to sound negative.

So glad you heard from your boy's! I bet that made your day?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Suse, not coming down with anything, think it's the drastic change in the weather, mix that with a bit of laziness!

Jail bait Debbie? Nice to look but not touch lol

Things sure aren't improving job wise are they? Guess with so much availability re faxing and emailing that it is bound to affect postal service! Our post am workers went on strike in the spring and done themselves great harm.

Thunder, sounds as though your special day was perfect!! Can't ask for more than that!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

re: Cakes - no, don't do them as a business. I've been baking these rum fruit cakes for home, for 35 years. I get enough people who love 'em that I decided I would sell them at the church "Rent-a-table" that's held Oct 22nd. I'm renting 2 tables, for selling all my "garage sale" items, plus I've made some mint jelly, and dried mint, and I'm taking orders for cakes.
I only made 4, so if I get more orders, I'll make more. :-)

Betty, the boys are only 18...but he is the cutest! He went to Navy Seals camp, as did his older brothers...and they both look the part. VERY nice family, Sam plays Bass in the band the boys have.

Here is the double rainbow Betty, Norm and I saw near Ann's home. The second one is to the left of the first and is barely visible in this shot but it was truly beautiful.....

Susan/CA = SO SO excited you liked Whirligig....I had to read a few times to 'get' some of the references made.... but you see now why it's a 'pass along' kind of book... ((HUGS)) I think you and Dianne would like "Seedfolks".... Don't tell Dianne but I did have another by the author that is headed her way as of today (Shhhh!) "Minds Eye" would be about my 3rd or 4th fav....

♪♫♪♫Happy Birthday to Thunder! sounds like it was Perfect ! Great idea to call your Mom....
I should think of a tradition for my Mom. I donate to Dog causes for her bday... I'll have to think of something.

Mary

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Mary - one term stands out in Whirligig - "kelp-like hair" LOL When I saw that, I had to laugh about the two talking about it LOL

Baton Rouge, LA

SEE SUSAN! now I need to re-read for the millionth time (okay that's an exaggeration)

Dmail ing you so I don't 'ruin' the read for anyone....

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I only mentioned it in this way so it Wouldn't ruin the "read" for anyone else. It's one of those cryptic things that you'd have to read the book to get the concept LOL

Baton Rouge, LA

LOL Love you Susan... The book is so revered by me... I think now I need to read again to find the "Kelp like hair" reference........ you caught that... I didn't... so now I need to *know*.... ((HUGS))

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LOL Thanks Mary - now I feel I need to read his Other books... Are they in the library, d'ya think?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LOL good for you, Thunder! Mary will have to read the book again, to see it LOL teasin' you, Mary!!

Baton Rouge, LA

Oh Gosh Darn THunder and Susan (and Possibly Dianne!)... Now I have to re-read it... !!! It's just that THAT Special of a book to miss stuff after I've read it TEN million times.....

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LOL Your string is sooooo easy to "pull" my dear Mary! Love you all the more for it!!
There IS such a phrase in the book, don't get me wrong, but BOY you're funny!!! LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

Pays to sleep in, get to have my coffee in daylight!

Was glad to seen that Cathy had been over yesterday and cut my grass, Darlene dropped off folding tables so both make my 'to do' list lighter!

Sorry for inconvenience at having to send me whirligig Susan after me having it in my possession..guess when Judy gave it to me when I was at her house so that I could pass it on to Barb when she came that I set it in a box with other things for her and mind didntnsay 'read first'. Now I'm excited and know what references to watch for!

Not sure where to start today..most has to be left until early tomorrow morning..
Got Jeff to pick up e-reader for mom and download 2,000 books ( much same artist as he did for me) so must call him and make sure he doesn't forget to bring it and confirm if he's coming tonight or just tomorrow morning..

thea and Dianne, frost in the area, beware!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I know too!!!!! I know kelp hair!!!! Such a wonderful read Mary and I thank you for getting this round going? I tried to get Seed Folk on line but couldn't so it's off to the library for me....
We had temps in the 30s last night too Betty. Not quite freezing but cold enough that some of my spider plants leaves have developed a brown streak. They are in for the winter now!!! That and my English Ivy which I really love....
Did Kathy ever find out what was wrong when she had to go for those tests? How is she feeling now? Please say hello to her and all the ladies for us. I talk about all of you everywhere I go!!!!
I'm going today to get some material to make another sweatshirt with the cutouts on the front. I had to order the sweatshirts online as I can't find any without some kind of writing on them.....Then I'm going to give this a try.
Have an appointment for an ultrasound on the 23rd to see just how bad this gall bladder of mine is. Hopefully it can be corrected without surgery. Until then I'm avoiding any fatty foods. Crying here as I love my burgers and fries!!!!!
Betty, you go slowly today so you can enjoy tomorrow. Only God is perfect and I know that's how you want things to be......
Off to get some laundry started so waving to everyone and hoping you all have a wonderful day~~~~~~~

Glenview, IL

Good morning everyone!

Won't be on today,
I have a cleaning job!!!

Enjoy the day...

Great Rainbows, just bring good cheer first thing in the morning.

See you later.

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Good Morning!

I'm sitting here on my second pot of coffee and thinking about all of you guys. Hope this note finds everyone well and enjoying the fall weather. It has been cool and damp here. I got most of the yard mowed yesterday and will finish when it dries up. we had frost Thursday am.

I'm going to clean house and go to town and get the necessities. I have to run into Omaha and get a few things. I am still working outside cutting weeds and cleaning flower beds. It's never ending. The burn hole is very full, but I can't fire it up till after they get the soybeans out of the field so will keep adding to it. Could have a heck of a hotdog roast when it gets lit. If you all come I'll supply the hotdogs and all the trimmings. LOL

Belated Happy Birthday Thunder and hope you had a wonderful day!

Went to a flea market last week end. It's one of the few things I look forward to. I did get a few things. My sis from Mo. came up and my brother and his wife. We had a good time.

Well, I better get up and get something done. I will try to check in later and see how all of you are doing. Wish you all a good day and with the weather getting cooler I will try to check in more. Love to you all.

Shirley

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good Morning Everyone!!!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

What a wonderful surprise Shirley. It's just so great to hear from you. Sounds like you are keeping yourself pretty busy. I'm glad to hear your family is staying close. It's great when you can see them now and then but I don't think I would want them "living in my pocket" if you know what I mean. I find the older I become, the more set in my ways. I love flea markets too but don't get to go like I used to. Some of the good ones get soooo crowded I can't get around in them.
Hope you are having a good day too.....
Two loads of laundry done and one more to go. Going shopping this afternoon and getting a hair cut too. I need one.....

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Morning Crissy!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Waving to all, taking a short break then cleaning time..

Got all the veggies cleaned and bagged, that way tomorrow morning all I'll have to do is make the platters..honey/garlic meatballs in slow cooker, trays of lasagna ready for cooking tomorrow morning so all and all I'm ready..ooohhh and I'm sure there will be leftovers to take to your wiener roast Shirley! enough for all...

Laura, thinking about you today..sending hugs, just know you need them

Barb, MRI came back clear for Cathy but she still has been having the pain, although I keep thinking she's a young lady she's turning 50 this year, so still young but could be the change..to me she has the signs of andrimetriosis (.). she is now keeping a journal of what she is eating, when the pain starts to see if there is any pattern. Girls ask about you both as well..they know how much I enjoyed your company and that they were part of the visit.
Is your pain subsiding now that you are watching fatty food intake? I was sooo laughing, aunt Muriel dropped in about an hour ago for coffee, CAN SHE talk and I started to think of Norm saying, 'now there is the pot calling the kettle black'.

Gorgeous fall day out there, probably much like your weather Shirley..do you have crops of soya beans? If so, what do you do with the crop? Glad you are getting out and enjoying..I love flea markets but only time I get to them is in Florida..could spend the entire day..that being said, when I was in Florida at Christmas I took Cathy to the large one I always go to and only about 10 vendors, apparently the economy is playing havoc with those attending so vendors aren't coming out!

Seems we are all in an energetic mode..I've a load of laundry to get done and maybe vacuum in the woodwork cutting room as I don't think cleaned up since I cut your sleighs Barb.

Oooh more bucks for Judy..wonderful that you have something to keep you out of mischief Judy...Susan also is working today..best of luck to both

The a and Dianne, do you have the rain I sent your way yesterday? Sorry, just wouldn't go Linda Kay's way, it wanted to head east!

If it went east - all I can say it must be northof here as we are having a wonderful sunny day. On the chilly side but so nice and dry. You know how the humidity does me in Betty. Waiting for Norm to get home so we can go shopping. I haven't been in a couple of weeks and I'm having store withdrawals!!!!
Tomorrow is a parade Brandon is in with band and then it's clean this house. Thea and Bernie are coming next weekend so I must put my best foot forward. Our house is NO showplace - just comfortable and lived in. One of these days, I'll take a couple pictures so you can see....
Norm's here so off I go......

Victoria Harbour, ON

How much fun that will be Barb..bet all 4 of you are thrilled..imagine, we're all becoming such traveling social butterflies! What do you have planned?

Not sure how my place gets lived in, I blame it all on the furries and yes, lots of the cleaning is their doing, at least with a hubby and kids I could belt out. 'take your shoes off'
Furries just don't listen.

Upstairs is done, now I'm looking to tidy up the craft room..don't have to work after 3 so I'll go and wash down extra chairs and make some pretty seating area..

Good afternoon everyone… I’m still alive and kicking here, just having one of my “pain weeks”.

Laura… I am so sorry to hear about your DM’s passing…my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Never easy to lose your Mom, no matter how old they are or how sick they are…it is like losing a part of yourself. Lots of hugs coming your way.

Dianne…wishing you and your sweetie a pain free day and know you are always in my heart and in my prayers. I loved the picture of you and Barb!! You are such a special Lady and I hope to meet you someday soon so I can give you a big big hug!!

Kathy…hope you arrived safe back in México and that the upcoming surgery will give you relief from your pains. Big hugs and hope you have a wonderful day.

Linda…are you still having such high temperatures? Here it cooled down a lot and fall is definitely in the air. Those pictures of cakes you post look sooooo yummy…do you bake them as a business? For you too big hugs and hope you feel better soon.

Debbie…so sorry to hear of your upcoming surgery. You just have to think positive and how much better you feel after it is all done and over with. I hope you will have a big room at the Hospital because we are all going to be with you in that room! Big hugs to you!!

Dev…how is your hand doing and your DH? I love all your beautiful pictures that you post!! Wishing you a sunshine day and sending you hugs!!

Susan…those Rumcakes sound YUMMY (I probably would be drunk from half a slice…lol)!! Hope you sell tons of them. How did your meeting go with your friend about the job, hope they hire you asap!!

Hello Suse!! So nice to see you here. I have to confess I was one of the lurkers on the prayer thread and followed your story of how received your precious Moses!!! You are such a strong and beautiful woman and an inspiration for many!!

Judy…good to have you back and that you were able to gather your strength and have once more peace in your heart. I love reading about your spirituality and that picture of the sunset is just magical!!

Crissy are you enjoying the single life already?? My wish for you is that you both find the love and the spark again that made you fall in love with each other in the first place.

Thunder…the “I felt loved” feeling is the most beautiful birthday gift of all. So glad that your boys were able to call you on your special day!!!

Mary…all your talk about Whirligig made me very curious!!! If it is not too much trouble I would also like to be included in reading the book. Hope your cough is getting better…maybe it is all the heat at your place and you just need a vacation up North in Canada to make you feel better!!! lol

Betty…you are just a whirlwind!! Reading all the stuff you are working on/planning just tires me out reading about it…lol…Can`t wait to see what you come up with for the Christmas craft projects…those Santas look amazing!! Count me in…I am not very good at painting but I give anything a try!! So this weekend is the big Party for your Mom…I hope your Mom will enjoy herself and if not I bet all the other guest will just love whatever you have organized!!! Just take a deep breath if she misbehaves and just think “this too shall pass”. Hugssssssss for you!!

Barb…forgot to tell you that I loveeeeeee the picture of your grandson…he sure is handsome and he reminds me of a British Prince!!! I am sure the girls are just chasing him!! I hope you feel better soon and Bernie and I are volunteering to eat all the greasy food that you have to abstain from until you get your stones out!!! I guess it is about time we fill the rest in to our secret plans Barb!!! lol

Yes Barb and I have a little secret!!! In exactly 7 days my DH and I will be visiting Barb!!! I am so excited to see Barb and Norm again and to talk and talk and talk some more…lol Bernie and I will be leaving on the 22.Sept. and drive through NY and on to Vermont, where we will be staying at a Inn near a gorge and then drive to Barb’s place on Friday and spend Saturday and Sunday morning with them. Sunday we will make our way home and possibly staying another night at a B&B or Inn, depending on my back.

Lots of hugs and love for everyone, hope I didn`t miss anyone!!
Thea
Boy I started this post early this morning and now it is lunch time!!! I sure am a slow writer!!! LOL

mulege, Mexico

Back for a quick check in. Laurie, I'm so sorry to hear about your mother; that is a very hard loss.

Susie, glad to see you again. I think I used to see you on Trash to Treasure.

Tony's father came through the latest crisis and is doing better. I found some money I had hidden away some time ago and was able to give Tony a bonus. With two boys in college and his father sick it was good timing.

My right arm is giving me some problems. I must have really pulled something. I can barely lift it. I'm OK for driving and typing but it's hard to fold the fabric I've been washing. Tony has stepped up and is now doing the dishes for the second time this week. I've been doing a little reading and watching dvd's. The up side is that I hardly notice the pain in my left knee. The doctor explained the surgery to me - I'm sending little messages to my leg to be prepared. I have about three months to get ready.

I'm kind of out of it with arm pain. Will be back in a day or two.

hugs, katie
