Had a wonderful trip and great company.
Long drive and trying to rest up.
Take care and hugs to all.
Laura
Best/worse/what did I learn today? Chat with friends!
Thea, that is also where all the wonderful cuckoo clocks come from! Sure wish I would have purchased one, when I was in Belgium years ago!
Thea - I used to go out with a fellow from the Black Forest (back in the 60's) and he said it was a beautiful place to live. I don't doubt it!!
How I'd love to get into that cake Thea, am sure Barb would share!!
Glad you didn't find the drive to hard on your back Laura...what did your sister say about the quilt..bet she couldn't believe it.
With Cathy not feeling well I told her last week NOT to cut the grass, then with rain and being lazy this past weekend I didn't cut it..so, tonight I decided the minute I got home I'd cut..boy it was long..came in just a sweating, put my glasses on which had been hanging around my neck..wouldn't you know, one of the lenses fell out, checked the grass couldn't find it..they aren't that old either
Going to Ann's for bingo seeing she can't get out!
Kyle dropped in so I best run
Oh Betty, sure hope you can find that lens! If not call the place you got them, sometimes there is a guarantee on them?
Good luck on Bingo!
I hoe you find the lens, before you spend any $$ on other options......
Back from Ann's, didn't win at bingo!! Ann is in better spirits now that the shock has worn off..bought herself a whistle just incase she's outside and needs help..made a little carry case for her cel phone so she's preparing herself should she need help. She'll be at least 6-8 weeks before she' mobile. She's got a few projects out to keep herself going and Darlene is visiting with her tomorrow..I'll make sure to call before coming home every night just incase she needs something.
Tomorrow I'll call about my glasses..doubt it will be covered but regardless I need glasses.
Kyle said he'd come over tomorrow and walk the grass just incase I missed seeing the lens.
Was waiting for the night shift but no can do..I is tired tonight
Good Lord willing we'll gab tomorrow
Hello To All ! We are back !
Quick answers.... Betty - you should put a scanner on your Christmas list... think you would like one... ours has come in handy...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARB! Sounds like it was a nice one... let me know how you like that Ipad... I'm thinking about putting on my Christmas list... Got home and got "The Help" in today. (also Whirligig - ANOTHER copy that I am giving to my son's GF to read) LOL....
Debbie - (Sigh) I know I see those little ones at the bus stop and think "where did the time go" ? One day we'll have more fun with GK's like Betty and all are.... just a transition time now. I need to catch your cleaning virus.... please send here.
What did Hubs come home with from Sams? I could go crazy in that place.
SHIRLEY ! Great to see you... of course I think about you every time I go out of town as that is my time to have my KFC meal :o)
LK - good idea on scanning hte pics... that was a wonderful gift and took you a lot of work. Hope was very appreciated !
((HUGS)) Susan... was a nice trip. but glad to be home. You all going camping again soon ?
Katie - When I was living in Sacramento (age 5-11) I think we lived near Chula Vista? Where is it ?
Waving to Thea, Laura and all...
I'll pop back in a bit. Hubs "needs" me.... LOL got to find a wedding pic of ours...he is building a powerpoint show with pics for his (our) family reunion this sunday.....
Mary - sooooo glad you're back, safe and sound!
o wow - a family reunion - very ambitious of your DH to make a powerpoint show for it. Is he taking a laptop & projector? Trying to think of the logistics of it - guess you're having it inside.
Don't know when we'll be camping again - would like to use the motorhome (mid-Sept tenting would be tooooo cold!), but we'll need to ask to borrow it again. Shouldn't be a problem - we left it in better condition than we got it last time. Grandkids and GGK had used it for 1 1/2 weeks...... nuff said!
(((((((Shirley))))))) good to see you posting - please keep it up! We miss you when we don't see a post from you.....
Betty - tell Kyle to wear slippers in the grass - don't want him "crunching" the lens! lol Glad to hear Ann's doing ok - she'll be happy to be mobile again. Betty - how in the world did you drive, without your glasses - don't you need them to drive?
Betty, using a rake for the lawn to find the glasses will also maybe help. OR...going out in the dark with a flashlight....might get a reflection on the glasses. Just be careful!!!
Mary, so happy you are back safe and sound. I can't wait for the beach pictures you took for me! lol
DH did pretty good at Sams, picked up some meats as our local stores have not had the best quality for a decent price. He ended up getting a four pack of hamsteaks for $14.00....some huge inch thick pork chops...which DS is going to stuff for dinner one night. Six pounds of ground beef, and I think 10 lbs of boneless chicken breast. AND....blackberries for me!!! Thats the best.
Here you go Deb !
Well - We must have been crazy....but I don't regret a MINUTE of the trip. We definitely were there during a Tropical Storm. Today when we woke up the weather was PERFECT ! But of course we had to leave....
There were a few scary moments.... waking up to 40 mph winds knocking around... a transformer blew at the condo at one point... the noise woke me up at 6am......we were out of lights and AC (oddly enough.... we had Some electricity)......
Mary - they must have had a backup generator if you had some electricity. Likely had dim lights in the hallways....?
Take a look at this!
http://www.nzwide.com/swanlake.htm
Hey Susan;
Yes - exactly.... Supposedly there are 2 transformers... so when One blew.... that took out our AC and lights. However we did have microwave, coffee maker, etc.... was very weird.....
I was so scared... tornado warnings.... at one point we were walking on the beach and a lifeguard on a 4 wheeler drives past us yelling to come in due to the "Storm Surge"......
I started walking... the rain/sand was stinging... then started running..... adrenalin up...
Some highlights....
Saturday night.. DH wanted to watch "The Game" so we went to a pizza bar called "Helen Back" and had delicious pizza... got adopted by some LSU Fans and had a good time...
We went to a condo "Open House" and fell in love with the condo... Betty - SAVE about $640,000 from when we win the bingo.... we'll have to buy this one.....
Sunday we went to a Prime Rib Special night at a restaurant... Then shopping around and art gallery and wound up at a "standing room only" dueling pianos/comedy club....was very fun.
Monday... lunch at McGuires Irish Pub (Best food ever and least expensive meal) and dinner with my sis and BIL at "Old Bay steamer"....King Crab (again)
We really ate GOOD this trip... and had a good time....
HUGS,
Mary
Wow - Susan... that is SO AMAZING !!!! Thank you for sharing !
My DH said she must weigh about 50 lbs to be lifted so easily by the other dancer!
so glad you had a good time,Mary - you sooooooo deserve it!!
Morning...51 degrees here this morning sure miss being able to throw on those little summer outfits..feels double my size now that I'm into fall clothing..no like as it means I'm back to ironing.
Susan, no I only need glasses for reading! Loved Swan Lake.. You have to wonder how he could lift her, and yes Bob is right, she must not be over 50 lbs and he 70 lol. No muscular build on him either.
Mary, Mary. Yikes..not good walking the beach in a tropicalp storm..sounds as though the holiday was everything you hoped it would be..time for bonding! I'll say you didn't come home hungry..sounds like restaurant food tasting trip..maybe you should write articles for travel magazine eateries.
Debbie, Paul did well with his shopping .. It's been forever since I've had blackberries..did you share?
Listening to Breakfast Television, talking about a new trend of 'divorce ring' designed with broken heat..shows potential men that you are free..what will they think of next..u
Showing the wild fires in Texas LindaKay..doesn't sound like firefighters are winning the battle!
Then on to sad news where a man shot several people at an IHOP ..family of the shooter
Says he was having mental problem..dah, of course he was to have done such a thing..
Garbage day so best I get a move on
Waving to all
Morning everyone! Fires are still running rampant, fire fighters can't get a handle on them! So many homes are being destroyed! There is a tropical depression forming out in the coast, and we are all praying it will come up to Texas!
62 degrees here this morning, and only supposed to be 92 for the high! Beautiful day!
Wondering how on earth with the insurance companies can pay for all the damages of hurricanes, tornadoes, fires.... Must be running out of dollars.
Smiling here, you say 92 degrees as though a cold front has come through...guess after 110-115 it is a cold front!
Betty, I have to SHARE the blackberries? Sigh.
Betty, a lot of times there is not enough money to pay for all the damage! Pretty sad, as those that pay for years into them, and when they really need to be paid for damages, all they do is say sorry, we don't have it!
Has anyone heard from Judy? Is she back from her vacation?
Good Morning!!
I have something all of you under 5'5" need...
http://www.shoes.com/en-US/Product/EC1289664-5165572/BETSEY+JOHNSON/Leopard/Women%27s+Diskko.aspx
Debbie I'm so glad he did good! I'm very impressed actually!
Betty that sucks about your eye glass lens.
SHIRLEY!!! So glad you posted!!!
Mary Chula Vista is south of San Diego, are you thinking of Rio Linda or Rancho Cordova? Katie lives half way down the Baja Peninsula, take 1 1/2 days to just get up to CA so she's not going to go much further north than the border. I am sooooo glad you had a good time on your trip, even with whatever that storm was named, I already forgot. We didn't get any weather from it at all here, sure would have been nice to get some rain, but I'll take a pass on the tornadoes!
Well I'm going to get back to work!
Just went to see about the lens..omg..said if I had the lens they could see if it was loose??? Excuse me but if I had the lens I'd not have to be here! So we negotiated' I pay for one lens $100. And they replace the other because of some tiny scratches.
Think Judy is still away..could be wrong.
That is terrible LindaKay that you would pay premiums and not be able to put in a claim...
Well girls, started this post ions ago
Mom called, crying and in such turmoil..1st said I didn't tell her when the birthday party is so they've made other arrangements...ok
Did I speak to Sharon, Koors has cancer..yes i did..hopefully the operation Koors will have will help..I'm not sure I'd have opted for the operation knowing she's full of cancer
I tried to tell mom that cancer is terrible both in human and dogs and it's a way of life..got told I'm cold hearted..
Then my nephew who was walking in the house while we were speaking sent her off the deep end, started scream at him like a mad lady, said she just could not take the shuffling of his feet...
Then back to her dog and Sharon's dog...she said that Jim goes through the magazines and books prior to her reading so she's not upset..
Again, although I'd like to find sympathy and nice words for her ..NO CAN DO
She has gone off the wall
End of conversation...
Me: mom it will not help you or anyone working yourself into such a state
She: I can't change the way I am
Me: so what are you going to do, stay as you are with nothing but tears? There is some good in the world, you just have to be open to it...
She: going to drown myself
At this point a client came in so I had to hang up....
Now I'll call Sharon as mom made it clear that she is alone, no husband, kids who aren't animal lovers and I. I. I. Should be more supportive
So that is how my day is going and it is not even noon
Betty lol, if it wasn't loose it wouldn't have fell out in the first place! DUH!!! As far as insurance goes, you can put in a claim, in fact they're always more than happy to take your claim, but that doesn't mean they have to pay.
OMG!! That is just way too much stress.
Dear Lord Betty!!! I don't know how you handle that. I'll be eternally grateful that both my Mom and Norm's Mom were the women they were. Fiercely independent as long as possible and totally agreeable when they weren't. I was soooooo lucky. I thought your Mother knew all about the party!!! And now she says she made other plans? She was the one who insisted it be at your house in your garden wasn't she???? Boy, she could confuse me in a heartbeat!!!!
Glad to hear Ann's spirits are okay. And I like that she is doing something positive about being able to get help when needed.
Still no word on Kathy????
Glad you were able to make a "deal" with the eyeglasses place - what will you do if Kyle finds the lens????
Almost have all of my 5" squares ready - still a few more to do. So I best get at it.
My son David is coming over tomorrow to teach me a bit about the I-pad. Foolish me - I'm almost afraid to touch something - afraid I'll screw it up!!!
Barb just dig into it, you're not going to mess it up, and if you do it's fixable. Love modern technology!
Betty - I'm sure glad you're able to negotiate with the eyeglass co.!
Your mom - have no idea what to say about her - I'm completely flumoxed!! My mom's an independant type, even with her walker and her new lift chair! lol She just lets my brother (who lives with her) do all the cooking! She loves it!!
Crissy - LOL those Shoes!!!!! No, girl, I couldn't wear those - my knees would completely buckle! (and not shoe buckle, either LOL)
Barb - Crissy's right - just Do It!!
I will be going to buy 25 lbs of tomatoes today ($10), and share with a friend - coing to straight freeze them, to do something with them later.
Susan I can't wear those shoes either, I'm at most a 3" heel but I have a huge callus on the ball of my right foot so any kind of heel kills me after about a half day.
Yes, mom knew when and where the party was too be.. We went through that entire senecio a few weeks ago about her not wanting a do then telling me the celebration get together she wanted was a garden party at my house, which I had to tell her that was exactly what was planned...
Just talked to Sharon, Koors is being operated on this afternoon at a hospital who teaches vets..the best for sure..after we did the sister think, you know, discuss mom, she texted her son who lives with mom and said to tell her the operation went well, Koors did better than they thought..all is well! Said she might as well lie to her and see her so distraught.
Sharon is being logical in her decisions and knows what the end result will be..
People are driving me bonkers...
Barb, when I got my iPad Jeff told me there wasn't a thing that could go wrong..his words. 'just play and have fun'
Lunch hour
Hi Everybody - This is just a quick check-in to let you know I saw my g.p. this morning and am about to leave to see the orthopedic doctor. Mixed news - my knees are both bad. However, since my right knee now feels about like my left knee did fourteen years ago when I was first told I'd need to have it replaced I may only have to have the left one done for now. Will see what the doctor says.
Chula Vista is just south of San Diego. I'm in need of a friend here if any of you know someone in the area who might be willing to have a paying guest for a while. I have no further information but am beginning to put out feelers. Dmail me if you know someone.
I've read most of the posts. I miss you all and not being able to keep up better but you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
hugs, katie
Crissy, those shoes make my back hurt, just looking at them! I have not worn heals of any type for years!
Oh Betty, give your Mom a quarter, and tell her to call someone that cares! (I've always wanted to tell someone that)! Sounds like there is no pleasing your Mother, even if it is her plan?
Sending prayers to Sharon and Koor's.
Oh Katie, wished I knew someone and could help you out..do you think checking with hospitals in the are they may know of establishments or in local newspapers there may be rooms for let..you were pretty sure of the outcome needing at least one done..hugs, know you are needing them
LindaKay, I burst out laughing when I read your posts..mine was to rent her a waterfront room for a few days..aren't I terrible..Lord will get me for that one.
When stress gets into your life one reacts differently, drinking/drugs/gambling/eating...me I treat myself..went and bought myself a laptop..was waiting as Paul said eventually he'd get all staff laptops but it won't come for awhile so a Toshiba for me..lucky I had lunch money after that
Going to get brave and play with the Ipad tonight. So much to learn though!!!!
Oh Betty, your going to love it1 Maybe you can get your money back from Paul?
Probably..mastered the ipad and love it, just don't want anything of work to go on it..the downstairs computer I will have Jeff clean it off that way when the boys are around they can play with it and the laptop well it can stay upstairs so when I work from home I'll have access on it or when downstairs access to the main computer...
Working from home tomorrow and likely Friday...makes for an easy week seeing as I was off Monday.
Suzanne has so much to get ready for signing tomorrow that I decided to stay late and give her a hand..doesn't hurt to do so once and awhile..
Barb..just play..I've downloaded maybe 15 apps..one is to do with quilt / sewing patterns..sends me 2 or 3 patterns a day that you buy if you wish, some just for ideas..then I've a few mystery puzzles that takes hours to get to diferent levels..one, Clock Strike at Midnight I can go no further, can't seem to figure it out, weather channel, Netflix, CBC and NBC etc. for watching regular shows hmmm solitaire, crossword puzzles...my main page is Daves Garden..
it's so much simpler I think than the laptop you were using
I will be needing one surgery - it won't be for about three months so I have some time to network this.
Almost closing time here.
more later.
hugs, katie
Betty - you have a laptop and an i-pod - no stress here, just on-going internet access LOL
LK - that's funny, to the MAX! "give your mom a quarter.........". If I had a quarter for every time I wished I'd said that....
Katie - your poor knees!! Do they have to wait until they're broken before they replace even one????
No iPod Susan, iPad!!
Well thank goodness for Kyle, he came over and got my laptop working..he connected to gadgets, leave it to him and organized me with so many fun things..played a bit with it and now I put it to bed lol
I'd be in bed if it weren't for Kyle waiting Noah before heading home..
Can sleep in a few hours later tomorrow with working from home
Did Kyle find your lense for you? Nice of him to look after his brother in such a way. Some kids just don't care.
