Hi - I'm just about to leave. Send a few prayers that I don't get hassled crossing the border - that's the hardest part of the trip. The roads are generally pretty good. There was some construction going on that slowed things down on the way up but I'm not in a hurry.
Kaiser is Kaiser Permanente which is an HMO. I have good coverage so the surgery won't cost me.
There was a power outage in San Diego county for almost seven hours last night. I hunkered down - not a good time to drive. I'm tired today but will be better once I cross the border.
hugs all around, katie
Best/worse/what did I learn today? Chat with friends!
Safe travels Katie..hope all is well when you get home and that Tony has family welcoming party out for you! Waiting to hear how many hours it took you..sounds like quite the drive..will be watching for your arrival!
Crissy, can just imagine you young ones having the time of your lives in that motorbike..ahhh to be young again!
Now that would be a trip..could rent big rv.. I have drivers permit to drive bus,I would drive over by car and pick up Debbie , fly in Bev,Shirley , joyce,Susan and Judy, then off to pick up Thea,Dianne,Barb,Laura ..then head towards thunder, across panhandle to Crissy then Mary, make a slight jog north fo LindaKay then maybe we can head California way for Liz then down into Mexico where Katie has checked out all the best of resorts and we can P A R T Y,,,, who did I miss that migh wasn't to join in?? Memory is fading..now who is runningbehibd the rv trying to catch a lift....off to get a lottery ticket...if I win a substantial amount of $$$ believe me, we are doing it...
Why rent an rv, I'm buying a big one because we are not stopping with just one trip! Lol
Katie - prayers for your surgery! And prayers for the border crossing - I know how tough that can be!
Betty - you forgot Jaye, Marion, Marilyn, Lorna, and Sue, and oh my goodness - I'm forgetting people.... I don't think any one of us can ever remember all of the names, except in prayer.... lol :-) You'd better buy 3 motorhomes!!
Well, back to my applique squares for the Charity Quilt.... I'm so bad, I haven't finished them......
Yep, need at least 3 motorbikes, 1 for each thread. Lol. Now I have to find drivers...best I but a lot of lottery tickets!
motorbikes? or motorhomes (RV)????? I don't think we'd all fit on motorbikes.... ya got Crissy's on the brain LOL
Where did I post anything about having a motorbike? I've never owned or ridden a motorbike?
The motorbikes will be spiders, the younger ones like Crissy can trail behind the motorhome...
Susa, we will leave the iPad behind...it could get us into trouble
Ie..type. Motorhome and it types motorbikes...lol
LOL, That's because motor home is actually two words, but motorbike is one word. Who came up with the English language again???
LOL doncha just Looooove spellcheck?
Sorry Crissy - guess CRS disease is hitting me Big Time LOL
Crazyyyyy! Maybe Susan was referring to your 4wheeler!
Should get ambitious, did absolutely nothing except the floors today and yet I'm exhausted. Hungry, wanted to make a stew but didn't..too lazy to order from the restaurant so guess I'll starve..could loose a few pounds anyway!
I dunno, I just remember someone saying something about a motorbike, before Betty did......
And don't forget Judy, Janice and Tink?
What a trip that would be?
Hmmm how are we going to work that out?? Maybe they could drive over, maybe a 5 hr. Drive and do the entire road trip..
What has kept you busy today
Yikes think I'll jump up and get lottery tickets..tonight' draw is 8 pm
Off I go
I had to go for a colonoscopy, and upper GI! Everything is fine, the Dr. just re-assured me that I still have diverticulitus. I have to be careful and try to avoid things with small seeds like strawberries, sesame seeds, and no nuts! We just got home about 30 minutes ago!
Lottery draw is at 9pm
Lotto max
05 06 08 21 31 33 39
10 11 15 22 28 43 45
01 05 21 36 44 46 48
Encore. 9546325
Draw is for 10 million after taxes and paid if a winning ticket on Monday morning..need to win 1 million on my ticket so I can buy that big motor home and fly some here for starting point.. we'll leave a week Monday as I have to have mom's 80th on the Saturday and no she can't come with us!!
I would have to win the 10 million to buy the beach house we talked about
Wish me luck!

Was great news LindaKay know diverticulitis can be quite painful but it's the least of evils that are out there...do you get check ups for it on a regular basis? Bet those are the foods you like best!
Since we are "coming clean" on some medical updates...I should share mine. My absence lately explained a bit.....
I have been hiding a deep secret, a battle of sorts.
Have had two weeks of a rough time and big scare. Just needed to get some things
tested out and today, we had results today. And although they aren't great, they are
much better than anticipated.
You all know I have had some health issues going on, well, ended up at Gyno Sept. 6th, for some testing. Did the routine, found some issues. Sent me for an ultrasound and a bunch of blood work on THursday Sept. 8th. That afternoon I got a phone call there was a large mass on my left ovary. Sent away some more blood work "tumor markers" and waited for the longest week ever. My "issues" I was complaining about, added to the concern.
Today DH & I had an appointment for follow up. Yes, I do have a very large "cyst" that is incasing the left ovary, it is from what she can tell "all fluid & infection". This thing is almost the size of a small grapefruit. She was very concerned it was ovarian cancer until the tumor markers came back, along with the other tests. BUT, it needs to come out.
Right now surgery is set for Sept. 22nd in the morning. Every thing will be sent off for biopsy....just in case.
SO, still a bit of a ride ahead, but it is looking better than it did two weeks ago. Scary, but...needs done.
Debbie
I have some good news - I have been tentatively offered a job - it's with a friend who's starting up a new business. Well, he's been in the computer business before as an employee, then got his own company, but working out of his house. Now he has a 3,000 sq ft store that he's opening Oct 1st. He wants only me as his assistant, and now he needs to talk to his partner (he told him that I'm the only one he wants for the job) and discuss $$ that they can afford to pay me. If they're not ready financially, they may have to ask me to wait 1-3 months, and would have to hope I'm still available. They do need someone, and he wants to meet with me on Wed to discuss it further.
((((((((Debbie))))))) I know it's scary - I had some cysts removed years ago (about 16) and I told 'em to "remove the whole thing" so had a complete hysterectomy. Can't worry about future stuff, eh?! I was lucky too, that there was nothing further. Just several cysts that the Dr said "were the size of a 16 wk fetus' head". Anyway, I know they were painful. But, for you that's all they are - painful, but coming out!!
I will be praying for you from now until you've recovered from your surgery.and beyond that@@
Hello To All !
Love your idea Betty.... but pick me up right after Thunder and before Crissy and then we'll head South to LK.... LOL..... I see that even all the time I spend on here and I don't know everybody.... I thought you had listed most all....
Crissy - I really could picture you on a motorcycle... suppose it's the love of vehicles and nascar style driving that i hear you do LOL.... Katie - good luck with your drive... I hope you sail through the border. What do they usually stop you for? I've only crossed at the Ambassador Bridge between Detroit and Windsor Ontario Canada. Was my only time to be in Canada so sometimes I picture that is where Betty is....
Betty - good advice on the day. very similar to how it turned out too.....
What a strange day. My whooping cough has turned a bit worse lately....I coughed all night and ran late. My boss called me in her office and asked me about my cough. I (again) told her I was not contagious. She told me to leave and come back when I have a note from a Dr. that it's not contagious. So I left and immediately called my DR. and their office was closed ! I suppose they close on Fridays like some Dr. offices.
No problem I'll call Monday. But it seemed very odd... so I tried to think like it was a vacation day. I cleaned the house, cooked DSD's fav meal and my side dish for Sunday's reunion.
DSD came home from College 1st time today. Everyone is in a good mood and enjoyed dinner. I enjoyed being home all day. was Very nice.
((HUGS))
Mary
(((((((((((((((((((Deb))))))))))))))))))))))) you are a very strong woman.....this will be a little bumpy ride.....You can and will get through it...we are here for ya !!!!
Betty, got to relay this sad news to you, that Cookie's mum is now with our Lord.
Sue Taynor had posted this on SI.
"With a sad heart , Cookie's mom past away today at 5;30 pm. She reached for her and Cookie told her it was ok to leave . She then went peacefully .
Cookie is doing well considering .
Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers ... "
OMG... all this news... Debbie (((BIG HUGS))) we cross posted. Thank you for sharing.... You know I and we will be there for you gal...
and so sad to hear of Joyce's Mom...
And Susan... SO happy - just knew he would realize he better grab you while you are still available.. :o)
I'm on and off all night. Kids all out gallavanting so I'll check back in ......
((((Cookie))))) we're here for you, sistah - Your dad will miss her, and I hope he knows it's for the best. sad how usually it's the husband who passes first and here he will feel lonesome I'm sure. (((((Cookie's dad)))) His wife has passed over to her Lord, and is out of pain.
There's no guarantee they will be able to afford me at my usual "per hour" wage, but here's hoping we can work something out between us. He's saying that perhaps if they can't afford me now, they should be able to in 2-3 months, if I'm still available..... we shall see what transpires on Wed, etc. I don't suppose they'd be able to work out benefits, etc..... I'm not going to worry about it for now - will wait until I speak to him further.
Susan; if they can not afford you at first... can you work part time until they can ?
Sounds like a "Match made in heaven" to me..... a good deal.....
So sad for those in pain... Debbie.... Cookie...
Judy - I'm missing you gal... and Dianne too... and all of you... please touch base with us !
Goodmorning to all.
Busy here, volunteering at kids school. Soccer and trying to sew somethings for xmas.
Trip went well. Wish I lived closer to my sister.
Hugs to all.
Debbie, sending prayers with you during your surgery. I too was having a lot of pain and when I went to my Dr. After his exam, I had to have an emergency partial hysterectomy. Thank God I did not have cancer, just a lot of fibroid cyst's that just decided to grow from pea size to grapefruit in 3 months. So out they came.
Mary, you have had this cough way too long, and if the cough is getting worse, it is time you get your butt back to the Dr. For a check up! Mother Linda says so!!!
Susan, sounds like you have a nice job lined up, and were praying it all comes together for you!
Morning Laura, looks like you had a great time!
Morning LK. We had a really good time. This is the first time to visit my sister . And just love the beach. The rain started after I got home so that was good as parts in Va are under water now.
I have been watching the east coast and all the water they are having! Sure wish we could get part of it?
How close the fires to you?
Morning, won't say the " good" as I'm here and my tummy is just churning for all that my dear friends are going through!
Oh Debbie I'm praying along with the others that now they have what has been causing you mush pain that it will be removed, found to be no more than what they felt it was and will be a sunshine end of year..you've had such a difficult time of it this year..hugs my friend...which hospital will you be in? Rochester or Buffalo? I am hoping they will keep you a bit because I know you don't always listen to what the doctor has advised you to do..hope Paul has been right near your side .. Both must have been overwhelmed especially with your mom passing with cancer! Know we are here ALWAYS, always willing to support you and send hugs.
Mary,LindaKay is correct, that cough of yours has been dragging on since early spring..you boss probably has done you a favor by making you go to the physician..why are they always off when you most need them? Guess you have Monday off as well?
Did you reach your client early yesterday and have something to report back to the boss or was it stress city?
Laura, what a beautiful photo..bet the children are already asking to go back..from the sounds ofmit you and your sister had an opportunity to bond..could it be a trip you could take on an ling weekend with the trailer? School is lucky to have you..you sure put in a lot of hours..children will remember that.
Susan, sure hope this job pans out..and yes, if they cannot afford you full time, perhaps a few days a week would be a help to you and them..you'd want to organize the office to best suit your way of working!
Jaye, thanks for letting us know about Joyce's mother..Joyce and I spoke a few days ago about how they hold on during extreme pain and suffering because of their desire to not cause us pain by their death and sometimes it takes us to tell them we love them, we'll look after each other, we'll be okay for them to finally let go...Joyce saidmher dadmwas having the hardest time accepting her being so close to death...may all be at peace.
I have somethind to send Joyce on Monday so will include a card of condolence from all of us as well.
LindaKay, sure hoping you get the rain none of us want..are the firefighter winning the battle?
Good morning all,
Wow - what a week this has been for all of you.... I'm so sorry to hear of Cookie's Mom passing but she is with our Lord now and at peace. I pray for comfort and peace for her family.
Debbie- you never said a word!!!! Well, my friend, now I know what has been getting you down so much and all I can tell you is that we are here for you no matter what it is..... You will be in my prayers as well for a successful surgery and complete recovery. I can only imagine how great you will feel when this is behind you.
Dianne, I think of you every morning at breakfast time and say a prayer that today will be an easy one. Has Warren eaten all his chocolate???
Thea, how are things going in your neck of the woods? Are the children doing great again??? Keeping you and Bernie close in my heart.
Waving to everyone - I'm on the way out for MORE baseball with Sean. His Dad signed him up for a fall league (as if summer weren't enough) and
Grammy and Papa must be there for his first game.....Didn't you know that is in the grandparents handbook on page 103!!!!
Here is a picture of our lovely Dianne to make you smile!!!!
Yep there is my chubby red Welsh face peering out at you! What a treat it was too meet with Barb and Norm. Nope Barb Warren hasn't finished the chocolate yet - he is savouring every bite. At the Cancer Clinic when they weighed him yesterday he had only lost 4 pounds in the last 2 weeks so we were both happy about that. He is showing a bit more interest in food this last week but cannot seem to stomache anything after 4 pm.His pain meds were upped significantly, here I thought he was having enough morphine to fall an elephant and they upped it even more. Today is the first day of his new med regime so we are both being optimistic. We declined Home Care again but I am to call if I feel we need it before his next appointment in 3 weeks.
Oh Laura that is just a fantastic picture of the kids in the water. I just love waves coming in like that.I just wanted to jump right in there with them. I spent my summers on Lake Huron where huge waves and undertows were an ongoing issue. Our lake is just a puddle compared to LH and we only get a small wave when the wind is horrid or a large boat speeds past. Now Betty would get lovely waves on her water - Georgian Bay is soooo beautiful.
Forgive me Betty for not remembering but is today your DM's BD bash. I know you will make it so special for her even if she can't appreciate it you will have the great feeling of having family and loved ones near.Have a feeling you are in the same position I was with my mam when she was alive - damned if you do something and damned if you don't.We all know you will put your heart and soul into making this gathering wonderful.
Momma Dianne here Mary wagging her finger at you - this whooping cough has gone on far too long. If your GP can't fix ya up maybe a trip to a specialist in such things is in order. You listen to your Mommas ya hear !
LK did they give the give you a light sedation for the colonoscopy? I hate the prep more than the actual test.
Need to get outside and help the guys who are cutting and splitting the rest of our winter wood today. Two fellows who are not even what you would call close friends arrived yesterday afternoon, a third joined them(we don't even know this guy) and they cut up all the cords of wood Warren and I didn't get to. Today they are splitting and stacking it close to the house. I am just shaking my head at their kindness, it truly is a blessing for us right now. I was prepared to pay somebody to do it but they won't take a cent. I bought some wobbly pops for when they finish - don't like them around all those huge chainsaws with liquor in them.Steve has already told me he will be back to clean the chimney and the eaves. I so appreciate his offer and I know it makes Warren feel better not to worry about such things.
OK off to throw logs with the guys. Maybe they will let me run the splitter for a bit!!!
Dianne
Dianne you are truely blessed with these gentlemen to come over and take care of the wood . The kindness of people around us is so overwelming sometimes we are left speechless.
I just love to go to the beach it is very relaxing and the kids are ready to go back.
Good Morning all ;
Yes M'am LK, Betty and Dianne... I do have an appt Thursday with a new GP... I do hope to go back to work Monday as soon as I get the Dr. note though....
Laura - what a great pic... those waves are huge... are they normally that big or was it due to the weather we've been having? Never seen such big waves as last weekend due to the tropical storm.....
Dianne - so glad Warren did not lose too much weight... and so glad you have help. Love Barb's pic.... beautiful ladies... :o)
Yes - Barb - page 103... You Must attend First Games of the Season... LOL... good times
LK - I'll pray that TS Nate sends you some rain....
Headed to Hibiscus meeting today at noon. I think today's topic is Bugs/Critters LOL....The LeBlanc family reunion is tomorrow... they are expecting 80 people.
Hugs,
Mary
Ohhh you are two pretty ladies..love the photo Barb!! Isn't it nice when we have photo's to visually see who we are chatting with...
Dianne, party is next Saturday, went and priced all the goodies, would you believe that it's only a few pennies more at local grocery store a few blocks away..can't get the cake there but it will allow me to leave all the platters in their refrigerator until close to party time so that is the route I shall go..as for the cake will order for 7am pick up..wonder when they say fees 25-30 if they really do? Can't believe price of cheese tray $59.99. Yikes..but a guess if I bought all different cheeses it would come up to that amount of money
Then I had errands to do...what's wrong with my head, forgot my wallet! So back without anything..now I don't feel like going back into town..
Dianne, it's these times that earthly angels come to call, willing to help where they can and often they are those you would not have thought would come and those you expect to be by your side are not! It sure was a learning experience during and after roger's passing.
I think perhaps the chocolate tempted Warren and now has his taste buds in a flurry! Glad no significant weight loss.
You let those men handle the splurged, you stay in charge of the wobbly pops, cool drinks and lunch..those log splurged can kick back and we t want you hurting yourself..
Yes, big waves here in Georgian Bay, missed taking the boat to Giant's tomb and Beckwith Island this year! Didn't get the opportunity to take Norm/Barb out boating for weather and just not enough time..guess next time they'll have to stay longer...Don't know why I never relate to being part of Lake Huron...little bay off main lake..strange...a woman once said, so you are on Lake Huron and I was adamant I was not!! Apologies were given..where was I when the teachers were teaching about the great lakes...lol
Barb/Norm, enjoy your day...Noah is also in fall baseball, guess I should get the schedule! You know it won't be many more weeks and hockey will start
Well, what to do, what to do? Maybe I'll wait closer to late afternoon and run back into town that way I can pick up supper at same time.
In the meantime I think the back fire pit might be dry enough to burn..that would eneble me to clean it before the weekend
Enjoy what you are doing..
Mary, glad you have the doctor's appt.
The reunion is not at your house?? Are they calling for nice weather?
Learn all about the critters/bugs so you can impart your knowledge to us..
