I am just amazed at her wit..trade you some of my peace and quiet Debbie for your zoo!

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I really do not think you want part of this zoo....although you are welcome to it! lol

I went grocery shopping to get some peace and quiet to myself today. It didn't work well as people were last minute school shopping and slight chaos with little children all around.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was just thinking that other than the one hour I went to Walmart and groceries I've been inside..Kyle was here for a few hours Saturday otherwise pretty quiet by myself! Think you would be too bored here..Lol. Can't believe even the kitties and Sailor are lounging.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - pretty much my day - only went to my veggie garden to weed, and picked some green onions and leaf lettuce... quiet day.

Verona, ON

Susan, I mailed you Whirligig last week - I think Thurs, so with the long weekend here heaven knows what day it will get to you.
Need your furlined shoeaces tonight here in Verona. What a difference from yesterday.
~~~~~~ to all.
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
oh wow - thanks Dianne! I'm looking forward to reading it :-)
Baton Rouge, LA
Hello to all ! I am barely keeping up on this tiny phone....
It has been a great trip although with some scary moments with Weather!
Had dinner with my sis and bil tonight .... DH said we will head back early tomorrow
Should be some downed limbs & such from T. S. Lee to clean up
((((hugs))))
Mary
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
Mary - just glad you're ok, and weren't around when Lee "Hit"!!!!
Victoria Harbour, ON
Morning all, Dianne am looking for snowflakes this morning....kidding of course!
Did put the furnace up though..not sure if the girls are coming today and I don't want them freezing in the craft room. Maybe a good day to set the fireplace so Warren can be toasty..nothing like fireplace/wood stove heat to take the chill away.
First time dice may I'll be wearing slacks and long sleeve shirt to work. Brrr
Mary glad you enjoyed your vacation, can't wait to hear all about it! We will be fretting until you are home safe..hope the storms are no longer in your traveling path, if thy are just take another day and travel tomorrow..
Trying to remember when Laura said she would be back...doubtful the storms are in her region.
1st day of school for all my grandchildren, means a few calls tonight to check up on them.
Well, best I get a move on
Victoria Harbour, ON
LindaKay also hope you are out of reach of the wildfires..omg they look terrifying..saw that a mother refused to take note of the evacuation warning, didn't want to leave her home and possessions and within hours she and her child died...know we have things in the house that we love but they are only things, not worth a life, sad though. Keep out of harms way..
They were saying on the news that even someone dragging a cane on cement could create a spark or bbq'ing and an amber falling..things like this I would never have thought of..I just think of someone throwing out a cigarette butt or a careless match but so many other simple things to watch for.
Our weather network just said we are to expect a warmer and dry fall..wonder if they went outside this morning!
Victoria Harbour, ON
Happy birthday Barb, hoping this day is filled with sunshine..ok add a pressie or two. Lol
Lyndonville, NY
Good morning and Happy Birthday Barb!
Quite chilly here today also. Watched some of the little ones in the neighborhood go back to school this morning. Was rather sad...knowing that part is over.
DH is at PT in Rochester, had to send him alone as I have to get Nate to work at 10:00.
I am in cleaning mode....as in cleaning out totes and years of papers....so do not worry if I don't post. I have "help" for once and am not going to walk away from it! Needs done big time.
Waving to all....stay safe, stay healthy......and enjoy the small things, a little hidden flower, a butterfly, a ray of sunshine....your favorite song on the radio, and a smile from a friend
Debbie
Morning everyone!
Happy Birthday Barb! Hope you have a wonderful day!
Betty, click on this link, you can keep an eye on all the Texas wild fires. The closest ones are about 1 & 1/2 hours away! That is close enough!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARB!!!! Hope you have a great great day!!!
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)
Thank you all so much my friends. It has started out beautifully with floweres from my daughter and family and an I-pad from Norm. Guess who is learning a new toy????
Ames, NE(Zone 5b)
Surprise! Good Morning Everyone!
I'm just got done paying some bills and then I will get my stuff together to go to my Mom's. I'll finish pulling the last of her weeds and haul the brush out to the dump. I'll try to take down the big old mail box that Tubby put up for her and no longer needs. They have to deliver her mail to her house now as she can't make it to the end of the road. I've been so busy cutting weeds and trying to play catch up that I haven't been doing much else. I'll start in again as soon as I get home.
Happy Birthday Barb! Hope you have a wonderful day.
Linda Kay I think of you everytime I hear the forecast and they talk about Texas. My heart goes out to everyone that has been effected by the crazy weather this year and the horrible things that have gone.
I just wanted to say Hi! to all and wish you all a wonderful day. Please take care and I'll try to check in again later. Love to all!
Shirley
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Good morning Shirley, so glad to see you posting! Sounds like you have a lot planned? Don't work too hard!
Victoria Harbour, ON
LindaKay, thanks for the link..those fires move rapidly especially with the entire state of Texas having drought..worry about you even though you say you are far away...
Barb, oh happy days, didn't realize the iPad be bought online when you were at my place would be in by your. Birthday..he is such a charmer that man of yours...I want one just the same!! Birthday in March, could he arrive then?? Ohhh flowers, wonderful..bet you are wearing a big smile!
Shirley I'm thrilled that you've posted..YOU are part of our online family now and we miss you terribly..you've much on your agenda right now, getting ready for fall/winter and soon you'll have time to drop in more often. How is your mom doing?? Have you been seeking employment or more days where you were? Drive safely!
Debbie, grab the help while you can, often have to wonder just how we let everything pile up when 3/4 of it we don't need. Think the answer is for all to switch houses and let the other person decide what should be kept or thrown out.. I've seen me fill 2 bags and before the day is over put half back.
Trick is every garbage day, 1/2 hr before pick up is to fill a bag and set at roadside....no chance of retrieving it...
For me the best is go through everything, no sorrows about what goes in the bag, do a light purging...then in a few weeks I go back and do same, amazing when you don't see bags and bags sitting there overwhelmed by all that is being thrown just how much you can rid yourself of...
Lyndonville, NY
Betty, I have an ENTIRE attic...with two houses combined to one, from when we moved in and never unpacked....things from my DM, things from the older girls at college....and TONS of papers we had to keep...or so I thought. And the worst....about 8,000 pictures I have taken. This is where I get caught up, sitting and going thru memories!
Victoria Harbour, ON
I should come over and help out. I spent an entire weekend a few years ago..bought large mamilla envelopes and divided photo's as I went for siblings, cousins, boys, some for me and it was surprising how many photo's were of no value so bit the bullet and out to garbage they went. Now I have one bin and have started scrapbooks for my boys, who knows maybe for this Christmas they will get done!
Good luck...
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
When my Mom passed I had more than 1500 pictures, so I scanned them one at a time, put them on CD;s, then mailed one to each of the family! Took a long time, and I now know they are all safe.
Victoria Harbour, ON
That's a wonderful idea Linda Kay, does scanning do them justice?
Maybe I could just do a few main photo's in scrap booking attach a sleeve for the cd..hmmm, no scanner at home but always a lot of time here at the office
Only concern would be like records, 8 track tapes and on and on..what happens when they are extinct?? Guess by then it wouldn't matter. Lol
Always could keep originals
Thanks, might just do this
Victoria Harbour, ON
Lordy, it's only noon...
Hard day at the office, knitting a scarf, watching movies on i-pad and twiddling my thumbs..think tomorrow will be a work from home day!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Barb!!!
Dianne
Lyndonville, NY
That is exactly what I am doing with the pictures....piles and trash!! If it isn't good enough to "display" or a proper memory...a bit blurry...trash it goes. Better to clutter up their houses than mine.
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
Happy Birthday, Barb!
Mary - are you safely on your way?
Debbie - I need help throwing out a Whole Bunch Of Things lol
Last night Bob helped me sort my canning cupboard (I had them all over my pantry, but not enough room!) and he put them in the bottom of a lesser-used cupboard that it was better for him to be down on the floor than I. I'm not so good on my kees as he is, so it would never have gotten done if it relied on me!
Lyndonville, NY
I sent DH on an errand after his PT.....my mistake. I sent that Man to Sams club. Lord help me what he is going to come home with.
Susan, I have the same issue, except for "above shoulder height". I can get on the floor, and up if a chair nearby....but reaching up....not a good thing.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Boy, must be the onset of cooler weather that has us all nesting! I'm with you Debbie, hard to reach things..think that is why when I let Dannie stay those few weeks that she cleaned everything and re organized..I'm 5' and need things in lower cupboards..she's 6' and wanted them at eye level..did I tell you she left her boys here with hubby, moved back to home town Montreal, went to her single name and is dating a different beau almost every night..what a drastic change in her personality.
I'd be worried about Sam's club also, maybe he will close his eyes and only what you sent him for..doubtful though!
Waiting to hear from Laura also, hope she is not bedridden due to bad back after long hours of driving!
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)
Thank you so much Dianne. It's a dreary overcast day here but the sun is shining here inside!!!!!!
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
Betty - you and I would see "eye-to-eye" lol I'm 5'1" LOL
My knees don't bend without a great deal of discomfort, and my DH doesn't like me using step stools since an old wooden one collapsed on me and battered my ribs many long years ago. He said "only use a step stool when I'm around" LOL That's the time when I don't need one - it's when he's Not around that I have to use it. Silly man!!
It's supposed to be 27c today, and at 11:00 it's already 18c! I rather suspect it will get hotter than they predict - that's usually the way.
mulege, Mexico
Hi Everyone - I'm safe in Chula Vista. Had knees x-rayed this am will see two doctors tomorrow. Will let you know as soon as I have any news.
hugs, katie
Lyndonville, NY
Katie, glad you arrived safely. Hope and pray all good news from the doctors.
I feel so TALL around some of you....I am up to 5' 2 1/2" That half inche is important!
Victoria Harbour, ON
Lol Debbie, haven't met too many that I tower over except for grandchildren when they were young..how did I end up with 6' + boys..sure am glad they didn't take after me..
Wasn't that bad when we wore spike shoes, but now, we are in for the comfort so no help with the risers...
Glad you made it safely Katie..will be anxious to hear the end result..praying it will be all good news!
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
I used to be 5' 5", now I am 5' 3 & 1/2"! Bad backs and arthritis do a number on those inches!
Hey Katie, glad to see you posting. Hope your news from the Dr. is not too bad!
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
LOL Debbie - I Used to be 5'1 3/4" LOL Guess I shrunk with old age LOL
Say, has anyone seen the movie "Machine Gun Preacher"? It's a true store about Sam Childers who went from motorcycle driving drug dealer to saving the children in war-torn East Africa and building them an orphanage.
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
I have not seen that one. Sounds like a good movie?
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
Bob spoke to our pastor and we sent him a trailer of the movie:
http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=65819
Take a look!
We're waiting to hear back from him.
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Wow, that does look like a good movie!
Victoria Harbour, ON
Have to put it on my list Susan..had another this morning that I really want to get..actress Gwenyth Paltrow (?). Called sliding doors.
Most of our movie rental stores have been closing, might stop on the weekend at Rogers video and see if they have either.
This morning the radio newscaster was saying that one morning Gwenyth was at fitness and was walking a street in new York when a woman recognized her..this woman fought her way through traffic, j-walking' apparently Gwenyth stopped but for a few minutes just to acknowledge the lady..several months later Gwenyth got a letter from the lady explaining that she was a very punctual woman, always left home at same time, took same train in, walked same street and because of her wanting to catch a glimpse of Gwenyth she missed her train, came out of the subways at same time as the planes hit the Towers..had she been on time she would have been in the 2nd Tower on one of the top floors...it was 9/11
Then the radio announcer went on to say how in a split second, a change in out schedule
what a difference it can make in our life..apparently Sliding doors is viewed twofold..one if daily events change but for a second what would happen and 2nd had nothing happened what the outcome would be...not about 9/11, apparently another interesting storyline!
Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)
Happy Birthday Barb!!! All the best to you and I hope you have a wonderful day!! Drinking a Cup of German Coffee (brought back from Germany and only gets brewed on special occasions) in your honor and even baked you a BlackForest Cake (that is the area where I am from in Germany) so we can have the traditional Birthday coffee and cake to celebrate with friends.
I am on the run again, hope you all have a wonderful day...bbl
Love and hugs
Thea
