Yes, defiantely take the cuttings. I have instructions....I will try and remember to send tomorrow.
Do you know Michelle...aka Badseed?? She grows them, and these were sent from her.
She can tell you really easy how to do it.
Best/worse/what did I learn today? A chat with friends..
Don't know her....but glad to know it's possible.... I'll try tomorrow.... have a "Garden Party" here in 4 weeks and I want to have a few cuttings to give away....
Debbie - what is everyone up to tonight?
Here?
Well, DH just went to bed...he is "bored". Has watched all kinds of those "sarcastic" comedies. Some are good...others (rolls eyes). Blazing saddles, Airplane, Robin Hood Men in Tights....Monte Python...you get the picture. I am sure tomorrow will be Animal House.
SHane mowed lawns today. Nate worked from 3 to 9:00...and I think both are now starting to slow down and go to bed.
The child....oh ...who knows. Don't know if she is staying at friends or coming home. BUT her computer broke, which she needs for college classes......and she needs a new mother board. SHE THINKS she is taking mine. I don't see any "ice forming" on hot spots yet....so not happening.
Jeanna was over here last night, and tonight both she and Joe came over for dinner. I made squash cassarole, beef on weck sandwhichs....and Shane made a new broccoli & cashew dish.
Wow Deb - all those movies were on TV? or he rented them? They are sure all the same type.... cynical comedies... LOL.... Don't understand the "Ice forming" thing... explain?
Do I have your Squash Recipe ? would love the broccoli cashew recipe......
Hubby is home for the first FULL weekend in "I can't remember " when. He may regret it because at times he is such a pain in the A**...... At walmart fussing at me for not keeping up with him. "I hate going to walmart with you" well.. then dont' I say. I mean if I have to push the buggy with whooping cough and broken ribs then don't prance off in an obstacle course of people and expect me to keep up with you for Heaven's sake !
But we've gotten along for the most part... so we'll see how tomorrow goes. We are *Supposed* to head to my dad's for Labor Day weekend. Not sure if Dad wants us there the whole time so I'm looking into other alternatives (LIKE THE BEACH!!!)
Hugs,
Mary
We have "Netflix" for 7.99 a month... some of them were on there, some were ones he had for YEARS on video or CD.
The ice forming...Umm, H E CK hasn't frozen over.
I go to walmart...do my thing, and if they want to venture off they can find me later and carry there stuff. I understand what you mean by that!!

Mary, sounds as though you are starting to have downtime for yourself with ought pressures of life...wonderful.
Hoping that Barb and Laura post this am so we know they are ok..
Been watching reports of Irene, she seems to be losing some of her power but still dangerous!
Wonder how Judy is doing..after her posting about Brian's girlfriend being raped she's been gone aol...know that is not a good thing when she's quiet.

We are okay here in NH. The eye is due to go right over us here sometime this afternoon. We are getting a pounding rain and winds at about 30mph now. The power of Mother Nature is truly incredible!!!
Starting laundry from our trip and will continue as long as we have power. I am lucky in that all the wires here in my area are underground. Of course, if the main line goes, so do we....
Will keep in touch throughout the day ....
Sending prayers for all our friends going through this and thanking heaven it isn't any worse!!
Thought I'd take time to post more of my goodies...
Laura sent via Barb a lovely bundle of Christmas fabrics...knowing I could not find Christmas fabric here as yet, she wanted me to finish the 3-12 month quilts I had started earlier in the spring...
Laura, just hope I didn't mix the fabrics up when I was riffling through yours and Barbs..
Please tell Zachary just how much it touched my heart that he painted me a christmas ornament..if will be set on the special tree in cafe for all to see...I'm always in awe to get something children have done for me...heck love getting something homemade all the time..know the effort and the thought that goes into these projects... hugssss Zachary!!!
OOOO Debbie thanks for the recipe, I've copied and pasted it LOL!
Barb so glad you made it home!!! Hope Irene didn't get you too bad. Can't wait to see your pics!
Thanks for posting the pics Betty, bet you had a ball!
Well I didn't do anything yesterday except read my Sweet Potato Queens Book of Love most of the day yesterday, watched the Nascar Nationwide race from Friday night that we recorded, then watched the Cup race last night when it came on. I slept 10 hours Friday night and 9 hours Saturday night so I guess I needed the sleep, YIKES! I'm getting ready to go pull some weeds before it gets too hot and I'll try to be back on later.
I was going to go to my mom's for Labor Day weekend but Dave's leaving the 6th through the 9th for an interview in CA so I guess I'll stay home, but YAY I'll be alone all week, or part of the week, I do plan on seeing my better quarter while he's gone. If he gets the job he'll be gone probably the last week of September and all of October, wooohoooooooooo!!!!
Then Barb had packed a large box of Christmas Fabrics as well..I am overwhelmed to say the least...in looking at Barb and Laura's fabrics I see only but 1 that I've seen in our fabric stores so I'll have a different quilt for sure...with fall soon upon us and spending more time inside than outside in the gardens I'll be able to play to hearts content..
Have my sewing machine set out on one table and cutting board on the next so must mean I won't play lazy and I'll get something done today!
Look at this haul...
Waving Crissy, you must have needed sleep for sure to get that many hours in..body was telling you something wasn't it?? I so hope Dave gets the position, sounds positive as they wouldn't be flying him to California..does he have to pay for flight or do they? Sorry you will miss going to your mom's..perhaps another weekend you can take an extra day of leave and go visit..
Looking forward to our long weekend as well...last of the summer! Nothing planned, Jeff might come up with the boys or on his own..might as Cathy if she wants to go for a ride to Meaford for something to do, travel there and back would take good part of a day, besides, quilt shop in Meaford and would like to check their stock..bet it doesn't compare with what I received from Barb and Laura...lol
Now for the oooohhh/s and ahhhh/s
Take a look at the bag that Barb made me...just love it!! Not only was it a great pressie but she filled it with goodies...
You must be beside yourself LindaKay! Know I could never endure such temps..I'll stick to my snow...
What do you have planned for today?
Are all the repairs now completed?
God Bless you Linda. It is storming here to beat the band...... Irene seems like a miserable lady to be crying so hard and when she blows her nose the trees are really rocking!!!! That's what I used to tell the kids when they were real little. LOL
Well, we are unpacked now but I have things all laid out over the living room so I can show my kids everything I brought home. I'll get pictures. I still haven't downloaded the camera yet. I think I may wait until Norm goes to work so I can play with making a show. He is still trying to catch up on his sleep. He did all the driving from Betty's straight through to home. 14 hours of which 11.5 was actual driving. We sat for 2.5 hours at customs coming into USA. and then sat for 1 hour with DebbiesDaisy in NY. Wouldn't be too bad but he drives in his job too!!!!
Let's hope the worse is almost over for you.
That was a long wait at the border..wow..I usually cross early morning or late night..with travels being Friday noon I guess you got caught up with Canadian shoppers going over for the weekend!
Glad Norm is trying to get caught up with sleep...always takes me a week or so to get back to normal after I've driven 12 hrs.
How's Norm's blood count, still on track?
We'll vacuuming done, rug washed (Sailor got salve all over it) floors washed, had breakfast and now on my way downstairs to play.
And I can see exactly where you are going!!!! Thank you just isn't enough Betty for the wonderful time we spent with you. I will keep Georgian Bay in my heart always.....
Good Morning...
Whew, The memorial for Brian is now finished.
I've got to say, Steve and I felt as though we were a major part of Brian's family! Everyone present knew who of us.
Steve had to play Security in the beginning, this was quite nerve wracking for all. But he was able to Settle the people involved.
Certain people who were asked to leave and they made a very bad scene of it...Big misunderstandings, but at the very end
Steve escorted Brian's friend in to have his closure. This was very sad...I'll not go into full detail, but I'll tell you that for Steve it was a difficult thing as he really didn't want things to go in that direction...Afterwards, we held a prayer fire/celebration of Brian's life, Brittany and her family came and I think they were pleased they did.
They all go home to Michigan today.
Steve has decided to continue with the plans on the next Big project. So I had to quick type up the Contract, yikes it took forever! Closing on Wednesday.
Well, Not sure it i told you, but our Sun room ceiling has finally crashed!! Thank goodness no one was standing under it, when it came down...But it scared the living Crap out of birdie. We finally covered the area with a garbage bag, lol. otherwise she was going bonkers with the opening.
So now, We will be going up North for the week of Labor day...The kids will not be joining us. They decided the ride, 5hours each way, is too long only to spend 1 day. Can't say I blame them. But they understand Dad really needs this time.
Breenie girl, is on a good start with her classes. But lol, I am finding that just because she has my car, several times a day, I'm feeling kinda caged, crazy, because when i do have my car, i don't go any where! So I guess i just have to adjust to this new schedule...Anyway just before school started she and i went to the Botanic gardens!! Wow, I've lived here all my life and this was my first visit! We've decided we will go back again. She and I had a wonderful time on our outing, she took a gajillion photo's and I took about the same of her!
Jake had his first Football game on Friday night...he didn't get to play until the fourth quarter, but he was so excited that he got to have at least 8 plays! He also, is excited to be on Varsity team this year, oppose to being on JV. LOL, He gets to wear the GOOD uniform, with SEWN on Number's and even better his"wings" (stripes on his helmet) He said he has worked hard all summer just to get his wings!! LOL, he has this crazy Love/Hate relationship with football, love to play, hates all the practice! But ask him about college, he want to go to Iowa State, for Wrestling/Football and Culinary art!!
I'll be back to post on all your happening!!
So Glad Barb and Norm are home safe...
Betty, I've enjoyed reading and seeing your photo's!!
I sure hope all in Irene's path are safe. Prayers continue.
ok be back in a bit.
Betty they are paying for his flight for an interview. I think he has the job, they just want to meet him before they hire him, I wouldn't want to hire someone without meeting them first, too many liars and weirdos out there.
Glad Norm is sleeping it off Barb!
LK I feel your pain on that heat, and actually that's not as bad as it has been!
Right now, at 11:56am, we have a temperature of 86* with a real feel of 102*! That's a 16* heat index.
Oh! We're supposed to have a high of 99* with a real feel of 108*!
Afternoon...wow, played all morning and only got one block done..either it was a hard block to sew or I was sewing in slow motion...
Judy, I'm glad the memorial is behind you and that Steve will continue his plans that he had set for the future, when talking to him on my visit you could hear the excitement in his voice..glad he's not shelving it..
oh/oh, did the ceiling come down because of rain or just aged?
I'm glad that you are going north for a rest and meeting with family..both of you need a break..will Brittany be moving out of the house and how is she doing after her 2nd trauma???
You sure have had a difficult month of August, you'll be glad when it ends.
Congratulations to Jacob, he has indeed worked hard these past months..boy he has gown..just a little tot when I first met him, this last visit I could see he was almost a man...so much like Steve..you can be proud girl.. I might be able to say I know a football star, if not football then a wrestler!!! always wanted to know a celebrity!
Your visit to the Botanical Gardens with Breenie sounds enjoyable..you'll have to post a few photo's...
Crissy, that's mighty hot..when does your temperature start to lower!!
Guess you can't play in the gardens.
Ok we have our power back. Lost it last night about 9pm.
No power....No sump pump...water in the basement.
Irene through her weight around with alot of water.
The storm moved so slow the outer rim was here at 7 am and did not leave until about 2 am.
We have some people that live across the street a tree fell on the house...all are ok.
Now clean-up. And no school tomorrow because of IRENE.
Betty so glad you like the fabric and I will let Zachary know you will hang the decoration up.
Have not seen the news yet but hope this thing is done.
Glad to hear you are ok..seems from what Barb says that irene had lost some od her power by the time she was north of you and heavy rains as well. Liove my fabric..did sew one block but now I'm being lazy..need someone to throw me off the chesterfield. Lol
So glad to hear you are okay Laura. The eye is over us here now and then we get the winds until about 8pm. We had pounding rain all morning.
Betty was so thrilled with the material you sent. And she just loved Zachary's ornament. That was such a sweet thing for him to do.....
Stay safe and know we are keeping you and your family in our prayers....
Can you imagine, I'm almost tempted to turn in the heat...brrr it's cold!
Hard to believe the temperature differences!
Laura, glad to hear your OK!
Judy, sorry to hear you had to have security at the funeral.
I've never heard of security at a funeral...must have been some anger as to how Brian passed on!
Just shut all the win doors and doors and that has helped...fall is in the air! Might as well reconcile that the white stuff will soon be here. Isn't that terrible..
(((((((((JUDY)))))))))) Big big big hugs, you've had a rough one, everything's going to get better now.
Betty Normally the temp won't drop until a few days before Halloween, but that's normally and this has NOT been a normal summer, it got way hot 2 months before it should have, I can't see how it could stay 100+* in December.
Glad you're ok Laura, I hate bad storms. Glad you're neighbors are ok too.
Fall, at the end of August? That's just unheard of!! LOL!!!
Well Crissy, mother nature don't know what she wants this year..and yes, could wear a sweater when outside..bet you'd like some of my cold air...
I would, just enough to knock it down to 75*
Betty, I normallly see color change in the trees by this time of year....don't see it yet. BUT it is much cooler. Hasn't been out of the 70's all week. Quite the breeze and this morning needed the long sleeves. It is very overcast out and we had some sprinkles.
Tomorrow morning I take DH to doctor/PT to get his big bandage removed...its almost like a cast on his arm...but is just wrapped with gauze and ace bandage. I just tape a garbage bag over it for him to shower.
Hi again!
Laura, I sure hope that your cleanup is minimal. Sorry to hear of your neighbor, but so so glad no one was injured!
Barb, wow a long ride for sure. So glad your home, I am excited to see your photo's!! I loved Betty's, especially the one of you and Anne.
Norm looked like he was enjoying his projects as well as yourself, love it...
Well,I am so smiling that you were able to Meet up with everyone!! Thea, Dianne, Betty, Anne, Debbie...What can I say, bet you just loved every minute.
Debbie, OMG, so so glad your healing so well! Hope you honey heals just as well, woohoo, don't ya just love when they are so bored they clean!!
Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well, so maybe you can take a breather...
Crissy, wishing Dave good luck on the interview!
Waiving hi to you Bev!! When Breenie and I went to Botanic gardens, I thought about you alot! So have you been out working in the garden? if so, hope your not overdoing it...wondering why you are loosing your hair, due to meds, or stress. I bet you look real cute with short hair!
Mary, waiving hiya! Your having a Garden party? How cool!! Yes, Coleus cuttings are possible! I once stuck a stem with a leaf in some soil and it continued all by itself, just keep moist so roots begin...And you have plenty of time, I think its only like 4 or5 day to begin rooting...Good luck and have fun.
Ohhh, so thought of you and Joyce, MY Hibiscus finally Bloomed, so pretty! Big pink flowers.
Linda Kay, I so enjoyed our little chat the other day...no luck in finding my material!
Betty, amazing weather we are having for this time of year...We also are having very comfortable temps. Kind of weird having to put actual clothes on, lol.
But i am so enjoying it. So great having windows/doors open.
My goodness, I've never been to a funeral Service where the Police where called... Steve had already guided them out the door and calmed before they arrived.
first time for everything I guess. It was not due to how he passed it was his ex wife causing huge Drama with Brittany. Then misunderstanding that Bobby was asked to leave. Bobby's girlfriend was so irate over it. I tried to tell her it wasn't her or him, but she was just so out of control, I finally just walked away. Bobby's mom was there and never stepped foot in the service, but she wanted to make sure further issues weren't going to happen. None did, thank goodness.
Betty, It was Bobby's girlfriend who was assaulted not Brittany. But she is just barely hanging in there...With the way she carried on, I'm really not so sure.
Today, though, i am just tired, took it easy all day. LOL, after I finished the document for Steve...Yes, i am so glad he decided to move forward with the project. Even Brians family told him not to give up! As for Brittany, we are not sure what she will do. She does have time to play with as far as staying at the house. Brian had accrued time towards the rent. And Steve and the Cuz are in agreement she can stay there until she finds somewhere else. She hasn't really made any decisions on what she wants to do.
Oh forgot to say, Jacobs team won the game! 27/3.
Well, Some Creep keyed my new car!!! We think it was the Stalker...At the school parking lot.
It's been fun, rewarding, sad and very frustrating but yep, I am so done with this Month!
Well, i've got to run again, hoping my Roast beef is thawed, I'm staring, lol.
See you Later.
Judy every new car my mom has ever owned got keyed somehow, until she moved to Oklahoma, and one of my new cars got keyed years ago, it happens sweetie, jealous sob's out there.
So glad you posted again!
We are still doing great here regarding Irene. She really packed a whallop with the water though. We have so many rivers flooding over and so many people displaced. I'm grateful Norm and I are okay with no problems.
Judy - the golf course at the resort you stayed in has flooded over!!!
We are watching to see if "OUR" covered bridge survived. The rivers are anywhere from 7 to 25 feet over flood stage. Some roads are washed away and now they say watch out for landslides!!! The ground is soooooo wet.
On another note, I'm happy to see Laura post. At least you have power....
The weather was so nice all the time we were there Betty. It was so beautiful whenever we wanted to go out. Tomorrow I start work on the 356 pictures I took. And Norm took about 200+ too!! Not too sure how I will do this. Norm is finding me a good program to use.
Hello to All !
Barb & Laura - SO glad you are both okay and the storm seems to be passing ! It is so difficult to see the change the weather makes in the landscape... Barb that is sure a pretty bag you made for Betty... and Laura - how sweet of Zach to make Betty an ornament.
We used to make them when the kids were his age... was that a Dough recipe that you used with cookie cutters? Kids love that....
Judy - So So glad you and Steve will get some R&R over the Labor Day weekend! You def need and deserve it. So sorry for the drama at the service. Hubs & I will try to get out this weekend too. Kids seem to be getting used to run of the house. We'll board Belle but so far so good on having any issues while gone although will ask MIL to check in. Will try the coleus cuttings when we get back. They were miserable today with the heat so didn't have the heart to... Is your hibby a tropical or hardy hibby? ( as if I knwo what I am talking about LOL)
LK - we had record temps today too... still would NOT trade for snow... how funny we all are...
Betty - what pretty fabrics you received ! Yes - things seem to be winding down... schedule with school for the kiddos.
I realized today that I've not received my new debit card from the bank so I'm a little anxious about that. Should have come in Fed Ex.
I did plant 4 cukes today... hope you're right Crissy... they shoudl 'mature' Oct 25th so maybe still hot then as it has been in the past. Also another tomato and planted some chives. I've been invited to the "Fall Al / FL Round UP"... which is the same folks for that Spring one Elf and I attended.... I sure hope it comes together and I can make it... I really enjoyed the April one. Thunder - is that too far for you? (basically North of Crestview) would love to meet another Betty's Blog Gal !
Hugs,
Mary
Mary will be you get it tomorrow. It takes 3 business days....even with Fed ex.
Mary, we reached 108 this afternoon, and as I type at 9:30pm,l it is still 98 degree's. A/C still running. 30 miles west of us they hit 111!
I was at 107* today with the heat index.
