I am sooooooo going to start my day with those songs! ROTF!!!
Today, I am thankful for...#7
yep - what a wonderful way to start the day!
I'm thankful for my garden. We've been enjoying so many new dishes as I search for ways to use the bounty. Last year it was summer squash in (over) abundance and this year its winter squash. Butternut squash lasagna was fantastic! Tonight, squash sauce over pasta was terrific too. I have a wheel barrow full of winter squash and have not harvested it all - maybe 1/2 or a bit more.

Today, I am thankful for...
...taking the plunge and trying daylily seeds. They are starting to sprout! Yea!
...no serious injuries or death from the latest Possum Kingdom Lake wildfires.
...butter from pasteurized cream. My grandmother used to milk the cow, then skim the cream to put straight into the blender. Didn't like the milk and did NOT like the butter. She may looking down and shaking her finger at me, but--I'm 54, Gramma, not 10. It's okay for me to say so now! ROFL
Possum Kingdom! Love that name. A year ago when I was exploring The possibility of moving to TX, my sis offered that town as a place I might like. Now it has had 2 fires in just a few months!
I am thankful DH is accepting Of needing to stay in The hospital longer. On clear fluids now and new CT with contrast on Tues. He may accept The stay but not The diet!
Wish I could use his iPhone better but sometimes it goes to Spanish and I have to keep checking The auto-correct!!
Rain...Glad we got it even if it did beat up a good bit of stuff in the process...we r blessed:O)
Thankful that we are in line for rain from this tropical storm coming into Louisiana . How nice if it could have come in a little further west so that Texas could have some relief .
Her singing is a great way to get the morning going.
Glad to hear the DH is on fluids. It's a move in the positive direction.
Love butternut roasted with fresh sage. clocks that the are lite. and the colors of a tourquise stone.
oooh, turquoise. i like turquoise. Have family living in Shiprock, NM on Navajo reservation. Have seen some really gorgeous pieces.
I am thankful for long weekends. Maybe not so thankful for kitties wanting to play before I'm ready to get up... ok... even so, thankful for my kitties too.
I washed/scrubbed my squash. Total haul from yesterday: 32 butternut, 10 futsu black & 10 speghetti. The cabinet my DH made me to store all this in is almost full. Will be delivering the rest of the squash to a food pantry. And oh my... what will I do with all the sweet potatoes I hope to harvest in a few weeks? :-)
Tam
mashed taters, fried taters, tater salad, baked taters, grilled taters, tater/peanut butter candy rolls...just call me Bubba. :-)
Roasted taters. Sweet potato pie, biscuits, noodles, stuffed ravioli, pancakes, waffles. And I'll think on it some more. There is proably a cookbook out there just on sweet pototoes.
BTW - Butternut freezes really well.
Been to the market and no vendor with the 20 lbs of tomatoes anywhere in sight. Must of had a truck break down or something.
The beauty of winter squash is you can just store it in a dry coolish place. I kept my speghetti squash for a year last year sitting on a shelf in a spare room. When I said what to do with the sweet potatoes, I meant where to store them. :-) DH made me a wonderful large multishelf storage unit for squash & taters but its full now with squash. Will figure something out. I just LOVE LOVE LOVE sweet potatoes.

Ever work powdered sugar into small amounts of cooked sweet potatoes ? Makes a very good candy .Tiny bit of salt, butter ,drop of vanilla .
Lemon koolaid powder, sweetened condensed milk . roll in balls and roll into more kool aid powder . Great lemon candy
My parents used to stored sweet potatoes in the entry closet near the front door.
We have problems with storing anything for long. The southern exposure heats the house up too much. I was reading an article on cellars today. It might have been in the latest Organic Gardening. The shelf your dad built sounds very handy.
Today, I am thankful for...
cooler temperatures starting tomorrow
Sinbad's "Where U Been?"
Autotrader online
Film makers, discount movie tickets (which we didn't use last night), and books.
Family cookouts , great family members and the bestest step kids ever.

I'm thankful for friends and for a wonderful smorgesbord (the Shady Maple) that gets us together for birthday celebrations (free meal on your birthday). The six of us agreed a few years ago to get together there for our birthdays. Nice to have an excuse to get together!

There was a 90-something year-old man who used Amargia to grow specialty melons to supplement his income. He swore the secret to his amazing health at such an advanced age was he ate sweet potatoes almost every day of his life. :-)
Today, I am thankful for the much needed rain. We have flood watches in effect, but there are no problems. reported so far. (Jim)
Today I am so very thankful for my church home and church family. I was so very discouraged this A.M. By the Lords mercy and grace I was able to get to SS and church and came home very encouraged and uplifted in the Lord. Left to myself I can be very sad for many reasons. However the Lord is the keeper of my soul and the up lifter of my heart.
May our God bless you all as you go through this day,
Sylvia
Thankful for cooler weather in TX. My dad said a cold front came through and the night temps were in the 60's!

the gifts of sight and hearing...When those go people sure do miss alot...I am glad my profession allows me to hear what people 'need' and see their faces when I show them the beautiful things they can enjoy each day.
I am thankful for 80* highs and 50* lows.bronse mums and pink fairybells and pizza.
Today, I am thankful for Date Night with DH, cats who listen and come when called(Yes, I can hear your shocked voices in the back.) and coconut shrimp.
Coconut shrimp ! To die for .
Also glad about cats who come when called plus meet us at the door when we come home each day. Baby gates to keep dogs on decks, and emergency vets who work on weekends.
Cats that listen and COME WHEN CALLED? Are you sure that's a cat? Has the vet verified it? LOL.
Today I am thankful for rainy day baking binges and that I get to be the taste tester. Old-fashioned Gingerbread and Cinnamon Cake. (Jim)
Today, I am thankful for
Ant baits
2% milk and Frosted Shredded Wheat cereal
Linen tea towels
Mmm. Gingerbread and cinnamon cake.
LOL. Yes. Also Vet verified. They also know a number of commands. Food is a motivator and so is attention. Haven't taught them any "tricks" though. Not sure why not.
Greatful for ice, walks through the wild side of the arboreum, and engineers.
Anyone old enough to remember Dromedary gingerbread mix ? Daddy used to meke it for me when I was a kid , and so good hot out of the oven with butter .
Thankful for a good water well
Thankful for this slow drizzling rain and that the tornados and bad weather missed our county .
Thankful there were no serious injuries in the countys above us .
Grateful for a good roof over our heads on these long rainy days.
And for my new (last year) freezer to stash away the output of my garden & cooking.

Thankful for Neosporin and bandages. Shesh.
Grateful for a bright sunny day with no backache so I can get done the things on my list.
List, I don't have a list,l but it sounded good.
Yes I remember Dromedary ginerbread minx, mmmmmmmmm good. Would love some with gobs of whipped cream on it.
What a striking and regal cat pose. Wish I hadn't become allergic to them, but I can share with you guys. :D
That's my boy, Monty. I'm sorry you're allergic, too. DH is, as well, but his are relieved with meds. Which is good because we have 3! LOL
A feral cat likes to slip between the containers on my front porch and sleep during the day. Think because it is cooler there. Makes my dogs nuts if the door is open and they can see it through the glass. :-D
=========================================================================
Today, I am thankful for
tempered glass
taco cabana
twist ties
Monty is a bundle of furry joy! I have 3 bundles of furry joy also. Cats do obey certain commands. When i say g-e-t, they immediately jump off cabinet, table or whatever.
Today,I'm thankful for asprin, chicken soup, orange juice, hotwater bottle, sympathetic furry friends and naps. Also wine and honey mixture.
Herbs and rice...I took a 5$ piece of supermarket sale beef ( about 2 lbs) and made a meal for 7 people...Fried rice is one of our faves...between that and taco salads...meals for pennies thanks to growing alot of our own veggies.
