We came from here:

Sometimes, all it takes to help us through a rough day is to remember to be grateful for the small things. The thread is to talk about anything for which we are thankful that day, be it big, small, or anywhere in between.

Ozone, AR(Zone 6a)

Thanks Debra.
Sometimes when we're thankful for small things they turn into big things.
When it comes to cats I don't think Scoot will ever learn. Otherwise he's a very smart dog.
Our electricty went off for about 8 hours last night.(After a thunder storm) I could'nt sleep, So i went in to Walmarts at 2 this morning.Love these little adventures! I am thankful I can just take off anytime of day or night and not have to explain to anyone.LOL

For the books of Mary Stewart.

Ozone, AR(Zone 6a)

Today I'm thankful for family.
for ripe peaches and tomatoes.

My protection is Angels. I would'nt go anywhere without them.
Al and i once picked up a hitchiker on a back road and took him to town, We later found out he'd kidnapped his girlfriend and tied her up in the forest. She escaped and he was looking for her. But she made it to town and to police.
That was one of those uh-oh moments. I still pick hitchhikers up because we are so far from things. It might be a matter of life or death. I did pick up a young man this year that had sprained his ankle badly on a hiking trail and did need attention.

Debra - did you ever think your sister had you come to bingo where her ex would be, because she knew your gun had been stolen, LOL!!

Should be tankful for DH coming home Monday, but then, after 11 hours in our local ER where he had low BP, elevated temp, wound seepage and all, he was transported BACK via ambulance the 80 miles to USC hospital close to midnight. I will be heading off there momentarily to see what's up. Talked to DH briefly in his room this AM as on call Dr was not there yet. DH had slurry speach (meds?) and was saying something about they were going to replace one of his tubes. Does not sound pleasant. I believe they released him too soon as it is difficult to negotiate around the house and even just from car into house.

I am thankful and in admiration of all those lovely nurses and others involved in patient care for their patience and their servant's hearts. I suck at it.

(Debra) Garland, TX

quilty, we went to a different bingo hall that it is very close to my house. she doesn't want me anywhere NEAR him. LOL

sounds like you are right that they released him too early. hugs to you both.

i do okay at other's patient care. am the biggest baby ever when it comes to my own pain, though, and am a pain in the anatomy to MY caretakers. :-D

Such a lovely idea, this thread!

I'm thankful for these beautiful August days of late. Perfect for taking a long walk over lunch.

I am thankful for thunder.

No Central, AZ(Zone 7b)

Kwanjin-I also love thunder AND lightning! Best thing about when I was a kid in WI. Well, besides green and lightning bugs. Three things we are scarce of or missing here. Mom says when I was an infant she would walk me during a storm, but she was the one afraid and I would be squealing in delight! LOL

I am tankful for doctors who spend time to go over details and answer questions.

DH has a fistula, a tear in tissues allowing feces to pass to where it should not be. Not due to early discharge or anything we may have done or not do in the short time he was home. He MAY need further surgery or maybe a 'pick' line that goes into a-large vein to receive all nutrition for around 6 weeks while the fistula heals. Even after that surgery may be called for. A long road ahead. Stepson said he hopes his dad appreciates my caring for him cuz if it weren't me, the kids would put him in a home. Uh, sonny boy, speaking of that, DD and I have reservations for a week in Cincinnati at the end of next month....

(Debra) Garland, TX

Hi, Tam! Glad you found us. :-)

Today I am thankful for the bounty of fresh and nutritious food I harvest from the garden. I have several pounds of green beans, enough tomatoes for another batch of roasted sauce and peppers to go in whatever dish I want to make with the garden veggies!

I am also grateful for the love and companionship of my cats.

I am thankful for that one last quart of Roasted Tomato Sauce in the freezer from last year as my garden is not as bountiful this year as last year. Yummy stuff, huh Tammy?

Durn , Q G , that D H has had his share of problems . This too , will pass . Just getting you two through it all is exhausting for you both . Hugs for sunshine through the clouds .

Shawnee Mission, KS(Zone 6a)

Thankful for Bike paths that follow along a stream and go through the woods, Cooler weather, and the first watermelon of the season from the garden.

No Central, AZ(Zone 7b)

Welcome Susan, I do not believe I have seen you here before. Cooler weather, huh? Some in TX would like to see that! We are finally, not good though, having our more typical summer weather and are joining Debra in their 100's.

Thanks Digger, while I appreciate the AC on the hospital, it's hard to tell day from night.

I am thankful for the great food in the cafeteria. SoWest chicken salad, chicken Marsala, lasagna. All made right here. I don't bring the food to the room since DH is getting something like formula through his IV and that may me for weeks or months.

Shawnee Mission, KS(Zone 6a)

It was 66 early this morning. Very nice for a bike ride. After weeks of no rain and above 100 deg temps with the dew point at 86 or above, I'm happy for a break. At one point we were only a degree or two cooler than Arizonia.

I'm new to the thread but not new to DG. Have been trying to get the "grateful list" going again. I found this thread and thought it would be a nice way to start again..

Prosperity, SC(Zone 7b)

everybody who lives in dry country needs one of those, kwan. :-)

(Zone 7a)

Indeed! We are just now emerging from a 15 year drought but may be headed that way again, so any help is welcomed.
