Good Saturday sistahs!
Had a little rain last night, enough for me not to worry about the plants and get lazy this morning!

Coffee and bagels, sistahs. Your choice of spread: Low fat cream cheese :D

That was a short stay, Sue. Not enough time to work things over, but on the plus side, you know what they say about absence making your heart..???
Explain to Savannah how one gets real milkshake. Yep.. got to shake that cow :D

Phyllis, in other words... AFS get the kids over BEFORE they found homes for them? Now, how stupid is that?? Everything depends on the economy when taking in more responsibilities! Teenagers need more food and more activities.. and they cost!
They shouldn't pressure you at all.

I know some of you are familiar with Audrey (Doe41). On Sept. 28th, she will be undergoing surgery to have 2/3 of her colon removed. Another with the "C" word. Please include her in your prayers.

good morning

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning Sis. And how's our precocious Kaden this morning?
Must be glad he didn't have to go to school.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

he went to library yesterday. he didn't like it because a old lady read a book about a old lady that swallowed a fly and ate a spider. he got another sticker for excellent behavior
tha real test comes next week. his mother has to go to new york to her best friends daughters funeral. she leaves sunday and comes back wed. don't know how he gonna take it. we haven't told him yet

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Are they still writing stupid fables like that?? Kids are too smart nowadays!! I bet you post all those stickers on the fridge! You should reward him after he earns 100 of them!!
Awww.. I'm sure as long as you're not going too, Kaden will take it well.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

that is an old story, I loved as a kid....there was an old lady who swallowed a fly ,I don't know why she swallowed a fly! perhaps she'll die.....I know an old lady who swallowed a spider, it wiggled and wiggled and tickled inside her..she swallowed the spider, to catch the fly...I don't know why she swallowed the fly.....goes on and on....similar to the story of "this is the house that jack built" loved that one too!!!!

Kayden sounds like one of mine, when he was little.
We made him a big chart...it covered most of the front of the fridge....his school stickers went on there, and he got stickers or stars from us at home...for everything and anything....like brushing teeth, combing hair, getting dressed without an argument...etc etc etc.....

we bought a bunch of very inexpensive little goodies, and put them in a big box, when we first started the "system", he got a "prize" for 20 stickers, after awhile it went up to 30, then 40 etc...as time went on................also added larger "goals"........... if he wanted a toy that was expensive, he could save up his stars.....had to have 100...for the big prize , we also gave him the option of turning in "gently used goodies, two equaled 1 Point / star...so he could get the little rewards sooner, and also work towards the bigger prize.... he also had the habit of breaking things, so this helped with that too, because if the toy was abused...he could not turn it in!!!!!

he graduated from the stickers to beads at home...I made jewelry, and he always liked to play in my beads...so we bought some inexpensive ones just for him, and found a small jar...and when he did good stuff, he would get a bead put in the jar!! if he wanted he could take them out and make something, and save to get a big prize if he filled the jar...

Ya know I'd bet he could name some of the prizes he got...I know I could.....and that jar of beads sits on a shelf in my sewing room :) we can look at it now and smile :) he was what you could call "a handful"

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

kaden don't like spiders, so he didn't like the book.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Thunder, I remember that story! Kathy, I have a feeling Kaden will be just fine with his grandmother. My youngest has asked her Mom and Dad if she can have a "slumber party" at Grandmas. What? Surprise to Grandma..especially with them starting back to school Monday.

I need to get up and get busy today. Did get up at 6 to put a pork loin roast on for neighbor to have after the funeral today. Now Kim and I need to make a run to Costco for some supplies needed at school. Sad when they can buy things cheaper at Costco than they can order through the school.

Stay cool all and most of all have a wonderful weekend.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Prayers for Audrey, successful surgery and no more "C". So many of our wonderful friends going through such health issues.

Still laughing about black and white cows pooping oreo cookies. Don't think I could eat one without thinking about that. Jaye, keep shaking that cow! I like chocolate sakes.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ahhh a nursery rhyme. Thanks Thunder. Wasn't familiar with that.
You taught your son well Thunder. He has to earn what he wishes for.

And why not at G'ma's, Maid M? Grandmas give 100% attention and dotes on their grandkids.
I always love to do overnighters at mine!!

Got to do some pantry shopping for the ones that meow and bark. Catch y'all later.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You need a chocolate cow for that Pegi :P

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Jaye...not any more or at least that is my understanding the kids don't get to leave their home country until a family has been totally screened meaning the application, in person interview, background checks and the online host family orientation. but someone had told me there were going to be some kids coming that did not have places so I'm not sure
the state dpeartment and compliance rules have changed so hopefully that means no kids will come without a home to go to.

my parents are here with their dog .... its like the spoiled brat child in the room and the parents won't discipline ! uuuhggg. poor Lucy. she just wants to have fun.
sending T&P to them who needs them
i m to tired tonight sorry
bb in the morning to chat some
good night ladies

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ahhh Phyllis, that happen to my sister, the last minute help. She too hosts foreign exchange students. Instead of just one teenager, she took in 2 for two years as the other hosts could not commit. She quit hosting this year, after she had a bad experience with one student, plus the cost!
Good luck Phyllis.

To many it's just a dog, but not your parents, eh Sue? It's their child.
If Lola misbehaved anywhere, off to the truck she goes. So far she's been a very good 'child'. How much longer will you have to tolerate your fur sibling?

I can't believe the price of milk had gone up to almost 5 bucks a gallon, and yet the price of fuel went down 20 cents!!! What's wrong with America??

Off to fix a light supper. It will be a can of spam!!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

How true Jaye about dogs
My parents do not have pets any longer but my youngest niece is living with them until she completes college and gets a teaching job and she has a cat and my folks learned this last July that they do not need to keep the porch door open for him to go in and out as they have mice in the house. I not only stressed this to them but also to my niece as she text me when they were here complaining how it smelled funny when she backed some cookies and found a lil oval gift on the oven floor ...hahahaha
plus the boy friend has a dog and when he is out of town for work she brings it over to my folks house to watch it.

Now then those of you that know my lil Millie know she is a sweetie and of course like all men DH likes to complain but when it comes down to it he has her spoiled rotten to where she sleeps on his pillow during the day or in his lap

And here is a picture of the pieces of the quilt so far LOL have 63 I think friendship squares and am going to hodge podge the other squares for it and I am thinking of putting some plain squares in there and on those I will embroider the locations for the 31 pieces of material that make the friendship squares up I would do the other materiel too if I could remember who all was in the swap when we did it LOL

"It wiggled and jiggled and tickled inside her"....... it is funny with the actions for the kids - tickling them until the giggle at the appropriate spots.
Temp in Canada - well, HOT during the day, and cooling off a lot at night (26c day, and 6c at night). Tomorrow it's supposed to be one of our hotter days - 30c (86F). I know, I know...... y'all get 115F, so this is nothing, but we don't normally get 30c during the summer - maybe 3 days total. Usually our temp is 24c (75F), so it's hot when it gets 30c+. This year it's warmer than last year (thank goodness!).
In Winnipeg, it wasn't unusual to get 35c (95F) as a base, and 45c (113F) with humidex and Boy did it get Humid! We had an attic with no insulation and I checked one day and it was 50c (122F) yowch!! It meant I didn't do any renovations in the attic that day - it was like hitting a wall when we got to the top of the stairs into the attic!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh Susan, my sister would moan and groan when Nice hits the 30sC! It never fails to shut her up when I told her of our triple digits!
The plant where I used to work, it's nothing for the Dye and Bleach dept. having temps as high as 120!! All due to the heat producing machines!
OSHA required regular distribution of free Gatorade and an ice machine!! There'll be fans all over to help with ventilation, but still some will fall victim to heatstroke.
Naturally the best time of the year for that dept. will be winter, when the opened doors would bring in cool air.
Susan.. here's ((((()))))). I pray our Lord will one day turn your son around.

Phyllis, Lola Belle is daddy's gal! But when it comes to bedtime, she'd sleep on me as daddy's tummy would 'fluctuate' and cause her to tip over!
Would you be using one color plain fabric, or a hodge podge to make it look scrappy?

LK, you must be one happy Mama. Son's willing to help and DIL enjoys visiting you.
I'm sure you fed them good too!!

Good night sistahs. See you all in the morning! Oooh.. we had summer sausage this evening. Sister had sent some from France, and it had a very delicate taste. Yep, we ate it all, no veges. no carbos.

Good night sissssssssssssstahs!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thank you Jaye, for remembering my son, and for the constant prayers. I, too, hope for his heart to be softened, but if it's not to be, I'm not going to wrack myself up with worry - I haven't heard anything to the contrary, so I know he's fine (otherwise my mom, who has not moved since before he was born, would have been contacted about any serious affliction. She hasn't, so he's fine.)
Good night sistahs - time to wind down - we've had our "wally world" fix, so Bob's ok for another week LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
Jaye, we all ate good this week end. We splurged on ribeye steaks last night with baked potato, grilled onions and sautéed mushrooms. They are getting the car loaded and getting ready to head back home, and get school clothes and supplies ready for school in the morning. Granddaughter will be in 6th grade this year. Her first year to be going from class to class.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Do you have pics of your grandkids, LK?
Would love to ooh and ahhh over them!
I'm just a sucker for kids ain't I?

Thought it would be a lazy Sunday, but I've already moved bookcases, a chest of drawers and rearrange my linen closet!!
Lolol!! Now where is that industrious Betty?

I have already filled THREE chested drawers, and still got tubs laying around. Someone please slap me if I were to get more fabric!

Anyway, my morning work in the garden brought tears to my eyes.
Serendipity has it's first, and I'm sure it's only flush this year.

No one can blame us for being prejudiced!!
Can you say
Equal oppurtunity rescues?
The 2 yellow ones are our new rescues. I know.. vet costs.
We try to be responsible parents. Cupcake, the white one is a female. Dallas, the Tuxedo had been neutered.
The yellow ones.. Rudy's a female and Humphrey's a he.
When Cupcake and Rudy get in heat, off to Kel's shop they'll go!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good day sistahs!
Thanks for posting your grand kids pictures. Boys and their blocks! When my brother was little, you can't separate him from his Lego.
Bet Kailey sets her brothers straight!

Rollin', rollin' rollin.. now you can't get that tune out of my head, Susan!!
Hambone is still a Jambon. He's happy that I'm feeding him his regular amount of food as the heat is disappearing! You should see the holes he dug!!! Thank God he's chained up most of the day, if not my yard will look as though it's been through a war!

Bad thunderstorms last night. From 1 till 4 this morning. Poor Kel couldn't sleep and he had to leave for school for 6.
This morning, I was picking up toppled pots and the brug flowers were of course flattened on one side.

We have a cat that's always eager to try to sneak out of the house. I've been extra careful when I open the doors. Last night, thanks to Kel she took off. We can't find her.
With all the thunder and lightning going on, this morning she was waiting at the front door. Poor thing was soaked!!
You should see her staring hard at Kel.. like saying.. why didn't you stop me!! Lol!!

Prayers sent to ALL that need, even those that don't.
Stay stress free sistahs. Have a perfect Monday.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
