So I get angry at her for thinking I am crazy ( she told me that) and I am yelling " there is someone in this house!" as we crazily go from room to room, I keep telling her go check here and then when it was my turn to open a door to a closet or look behind the sectional ( we pulled it out, it hasn't been moved for ten years or so, ugh) and she has this Plastic baseball bat now from when she was a kid, and she is banging on everything, and I am frantically scared.
we go back upstairs and look under beds, closets and then she picks up the phone and yells, okay serial killer dude, we are now calling the police, so u better get ready u hear me? I am dialing 9-1-1 RIGHT NOW!! she hollers, as I stand there painfully feeling like a little kid..
9- she hollerss 1- she hollers and then I made her hang up the phone. Okay I said, u have convinced me no person is in this house, now how did that pile of cap get on my couch? and Why? On the Couch?
She's about to...63... Summer is here and it is stil HOT!!!!
Oh Debra, I would have run, and got my gun! Did you figure out what made the mess?
She says let's gpo look at it, okay? I go and grab some paper towels, she inspects it and informs me it is cat poop. Okay so mia came into the garage and went downstairs to poop on the couch cuz I swatted her but as she went BACK over the fence today earlier ?, I asked. What if it isn't cat rap and it is a racoon or something? Once again she goes around bangin on everything while calling out come out come out we know u are here.. then she quits and tells me I could learn alesson from this, do not leave the garage door open. and back upstairs she went. I pick up the poop, dump it into a trash can and decide what ever..
and go back to potting, knowing my college girl has enough ammunition to have me committed. ( Joe is in buffalo) and as I am potting up a stunted little lime zinger EE, I hear this "Meow" JOANNA!!!!! Get down here it is in this house! I yell.. she comes down all impatient and exasperated with me now.. MOM, Calm down, you heard the kids all squealing from the fireworks outside.... I look at her, Fireworks? ARe u kidding me? I am telling u it is a cat in this house, and I start saying Miaaaa miaaa here kitty kitty.. I tell her it is prolly stuck in the vents or something .. My basement is a unfinished mess, all we need is a cat stuck in it and Joe to come home..
well, we are standing there arguing, and then MEOW... meow again and this time SHE heard it. She runs up stairs and opens a can of tuna, while ai run around the basement once again looking under the chests, behind th ebarells and well u know, all those places u don't want to look Ugh..
the meowin immediately gets louder and more frequent as the tuna comes down the stairs.. we finally found it.. it was not Mia the siamese crosseyed cat..
not gonna edit this cuz I am too tired, sorry for the mispells, anyway, this cat was scared at first, but then after some tuna and some water, we walk down the street to a three house party ( in our jammies no less) and the cat and the tuna to see who it belonged too, well they were all drunk and were like huh? oh that cat has been hanging around your place for a few days now they say. Welll, instantly we knew we had a stray, and I had some litter n the garage for my water plants, and a plastic tub for a makehsift box, and thru the night ( sister Rose drove all the way to Derby) we three girls bathed it, and it loved on us all night, slept with college girl on her pillow, and it hung out with me all the next day while we tried to convince ourselves we couldn't keep it. She hung out with me on the back patio all day until the girls came home from their shopping trip..
Rose already has two cats, one of them is college girls ( Joe won't let us keep a cat) and son already has a cat, and Paula said NO, so college girl put its pic up on craigs list, and monday night while I was at Paulas, she texted me that someone was coming to get it, she had offered a free bag of liter and food and flea stuff with it ( I have no clue where she got all that) and now she is in BelllePlaine with a couple in their 30's that College Girl approved of.
Isn't that lovely..
Goodness, so glad you found the kitty, and then a home for it! She sure is pretty!
Debra you do live an interesting life out there. LOL!!
Oh what a sweetie kitty....I can't imagine how scared you were....couldn't help but laugh. You know those crime stories will do that to you.
Everything I see here looks so nice. I have lost just about all my plants but I do have my new water taro and it has already put out a new leaf! The two leaves that were on it when it arrived looked great on arrival then promptly yellowed but the new leaf is growing quickly. I am soooo excited to have something actually GROWING! LOL
no rain for you yet Tammie? Another water plant on the way there..
nope, still dry as a bone, but at least this part of Texas is not on fire. I can be thankful for that.
good grief.... wish they would pipe all the gray water from everywhere to your state..
Really feel for those guys in Texas that are litteraly buring up, then on the east coast they are flooding, the Missouri river is still out of its banks, wish we could pipe some of it to you. I did hear it had cooled off some.
Actually got something done last night, got 2 - daylilies planted, a kim lilac planted, a siberian iris sky wings planted, 2 trays of plants in the garden room, and plants watered.....all by 8:30, and tags engraved and beside every plant! Wish I could remember the names of the two daylilies....dang, I was going to put them in my journal....gosh darn it. You would think after writing it I would remember, just don't have enough time to focus on anything long enough.
Down in the 40's again last night....no rain in site for us either. Ground is really hard
Joyce, will you make me a few engraved tags? LOL mine keep fading... didn't do squat last night except soapy wash three plants I brought in, can someone tell me if I should pot up to a bigger pot the crown of thorns?
I will make them if you can read them...rofl. I use a drimel engraver DH bought me they are usually $20.00 or under, some aluminum tags or any kind of soft metal or normal plant tags, and wire. Since it is free hand I am not the greatest but I can read them don't know about anyone else. I have found with the dogs and DH I need some destory proof! All Winter long he walks thru the gardens and the dogs are always running thru.
so cool I Like that Idea thank you was getting rid of a set but now i will keep them HEHE .
Cool idea. Only the fork I would worry about me, dh, and the dogs...rofl. My tags will bend but if you don't have alot of fools tromping across your garden they would be so cool.
I might do that for the plant sale tho, course my engraving is not nearly that nice. We do have an engraver in the garage (don't ask why another DH thing), but the time it takes to spell out the words, then engrave, versus and my way they are done and in the ground before I get the name spelled in the other engraver.
I have a friend who says she knows she is lazy (everything is immaculate) so almost (probably everything) is based on the amount of work it will take to keep clean.....ex: color of car is based on how much dirt will show, limited number of plants because of the time it takes to keep them, says she would like to have a watergarden but doesn't do it because of the time it would take in upkeep, swimming pool would like one but too much maintenace, no pets same reason, and on and on. As I am rushing around I am wondering if I should change my approach.....
1st can't get rid of my DH or animals that is out
2nd car is purchased according to best deal and mileage, that is all I care about
3rd love my watergarden and the fishes and frogs
4th swimming pool just don't have an interest
5th garden - way too much work, tropicals - way too much work, but would I be happy without them? hummm......
Please let me send some rain to Texas! We have had way over 5 inches since Monday and it is still raining hard out there. Close to where my Mom lives in PA they had 12 inches of rain..YESTERDAY! How about a pipeline to Texas? Kind of like an oil deal, but with water. My cats are ready to kill each other and the dog because they can't get outside and kill somethng out there. :0). Haven't seen the sun for so long I'm getting mole eyes. That's right..moles don't have eyes. LOL!
Sorry for the vent. I'm getting a little depressed right now.
Oh too much rain makes me depressed to, I figured out a long time ago I am solar powered. That is why winters in Missouri are so hard, the clouds roll in and stay for weeks on end, no sun light, just cold, dark, and dreary.
I sure would welcome water here any way it could get here! We get excited when we get just a few raindrops... I mean literally a few.. the kind you could actually count! LOL That has happened a couple of times.. just a tease then poof! .... gone. So sad... we drove around the other day just to look at the dead and dying trees. Some magnificent ancient trees that people are not watering. It should be a crime to just let them die because they can not be replaced in 100 years. That kind of tree should not be allowed to die no matter how long we go without rain. People should realize they need to water important trees like that but they are just letting them die... it is just heartbreaking.
OK, someone tell me how to get those not to split down the middle? Is it from lack of water, everyone of mine split wide open in the middle and look horrible......
Wow, Deejay, that is alot of hard hard work. You will be ready for iron woman when you get done at the rate you all are going...wowzer
Lack of enough sunlight ???? maybe joyce for the ones out front in full sun was surrounded with TALL WEEDS & Split from center out.
this clump is out back North side of house nothing around them standing pretty but about to split so i think it is just top heavy.
yes it has been quite a day & now off to check mail & Have to go into town . back later.
Beautiful blooms girls! Susie what are your blooms please? They are so frilly looking?
kalanchoe , it looks like to me, live forever, sedum... I just dug up a ton of it. looks lovely there, mine had to come out becuase of brick work.
Debra, your more than gracious to share with everyone! Is there anything your looking for?
oh nooo, I need homes for tons of stuff....dug up some datura lilac defleurs these are nice sized,, would come back in warmer zones.. amaranthhus elephant head out the kazooie, celosia , just babies, what a waste..
OK, someone tell me how to get those not to split down the middle? Is it from lack of water, everyone of mine split wide open in the middle and look horrible......
Exactly the way mine are Happ. Right now the whole clump is flat out from the middle laying on the ground. Now I know all the rain we've just had didn't help, but they were headed down before that. Usually I get out there and put a stake in the middle and tie up around them to hold them together. Didn't get it done this year in time and now they are totally supine.
Sorry LK that Is my sedum & I have about 4 different ones Just wanted to show you Happ that mine also have fallen from center out :) & I really think part of it is because they get to top heavy like this one . i think this is vera Johnson Sedum.
Here are some of the flowers still in Bloom Taken this evening .to many to post them all here :)

Hello everyone! Debra, thank you so much for the super box of goodies. Got them this morning and nothing had flopped. Have no idea what some of them are but will Google to learn. If ever I have plants and you want cuttings, let me know. And your Angels that I do not have, I would love cuttings. Thanks bunches
forgot to tell you that one of the plants with roots, Faye is night blooming cestrum.. it is not winter hardy, I keep mine going inside, but it smells heavenly in a pot on the porch in sun.. More Angels to come your way just need to know what I have that u do not have. Just got home from college girls bd party at Jimmys Diner.. everyone but Joe and Uncle Mike showed up, she is really happy.
Joe is in Buffalo and Mike works oin the Presidents Plane when it is in town..
took a "Me" day off work, but ended up it being a College Girl day, which is okay with me. I fixed her breakfast she fixed me lunch, she did some dishes, I did some laundry, we went to the store, got the things Joe would normally get, last week we got what we wanted LOL
My sedum stands straight up when it is thinned, the older clumps lay down like that.
LK, I will send you some root bottoms., it roots easily. like any other succulent. I took a bunch to sisters and laid them sideways, she said they are already sprouted new growth.
they took her staples out and all but one tube. She says when she looked at herself she still looks like a Frankenstein experiment with her bald head and zipper across her chest. Poor thing.
She has opted out for re-construct and they told her she starts 8 weeks of radiation in October. They also said they do not think they got all the cancer in the lymph nodes out, but the Chemo rounds since Marc and radiation shold kill what is left. Neither of us feel good about that.
I am going back down to Arkansas the last week of September to help with Garage Sale to generate the deductible money she owes everyone.
Debra, so sorry to hear about your Sister having to go through so much! Praying all these treatments will get rid of all the cancer!
Beautiful blooms Susie!
Neener, I got my box today and everything is in great shape. Those two little extras are cuties! One was blooming! Got to look them up. I will put a card in the mail on Monday to you. Gosh they are in beautiful shape, the lace cap didn't even lose a leaf. Everything is watered and streching their leaves.
So excited!
Yippee!!! No need to send the postage. Please just pay it forward. The one that is blooming was the streptocarpus I think. Kind of in the African Violet family, but for me easier to grow. They even get to go out in the summer.
streptocarpus is so darn cute! I didn't have any of the the 2 little ones, actually I didn't have any of them....rofl.
I will pass it forward, I love doing that. I am in contact with http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1216220/ since she is doing a volunteer project to see if I have anything for her zone that she is looking for.
what type of Plants are we trading ladies ? did I miss something here ???? Please clue me in I love paying forward also :)))
I think I probably posted to the wrong forum, sorry but at least Neener got the message everything showed up fine. It is a lace cap hydragena(?) sorry about the spelling.
The payforward I saw was the link about, someone is doing a volunteer project at a museum and inquired if there was anything in my zone 5 she might be interested in and I would pay postage.
Debra I know those deductables can up to a ton of money quickly. Having insurance sure doesn't mean you are home money free. This is such a common story.
Editted for this comment: Debra I was thinking about paying it forward, not having tons of money but I have lots of flowers, do flowers sell at garage sales? You all are always talking about yard sale yellow brug. What if I were to send you plants to sell at the garage sale? Would that be a big hastle for you to take there? If they didn't sell just dump the dirt and recyle the pot. Wish it were spring I know they would sell then.

aww Joyce, yer so nice to consider that. I am taking a ton of stuff there, mostly nascar collectibles. She is in Rogers, Ar and have no clue what zone she is, but while I was there in August, some lady came by and begged her out of the datura she had just gotten from me. LOL
If it were spring, we would have no problem selling plants. But right now? I just don't know. I am taking a ton of plants, guess we will see how that does.
Fruity, you gave me these seeds to this morning glory during the valentine swap...
