Well I did get my truckload of mulch off this morning. So far I have 5 loads in the bed with the standing stumps. Still need just a tad around the edges. The coleus picture is right outside my front door. The lizards are just hanging out. LOL!!

Sorry the picture is goofed up. I hate uploading pics here and when I try to put them together I always screw it up.

Any thoughts on this? The seed pack was marked Mary Poppins Tropical Hibiscus. Doesn't look anything like that and is in fact I think a hardy hibi. Kind of pale pink not dark like Pink Luna.

Neener, that looks so pretty! Nice job!

What does the leaf look like on the hibi, the bloom looks like a hardy to me also.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

looks like a hardy hib, I had some of those seeds, and they were labled hardy hibiscus mary poppins.. I like it, hope my seeds do something,,,,

Faye.. see the black liner pot sitting in a white lid tray? That is your Hibiscus,,, now to figure out how to send it..

oh boy, I love a jumble of colors..

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Happ and Debra the leaves look like the leaves on my other known hardy hibis. I was so excited that I had grown this from seed and it was blooming. Even gave one to my Mom because she loves tropical hibiscus. I'm still excited that I grew it from seed, but now I need to find a permanent outside home for these and that can be tricky. Moved a lot of stuff around yesterday including lilies and roses. Still need to finish digging out the bearded irises.

Oh well, gotta run. I am actually working for the business today. WOW. thought I was done with that, but my partner has me consulting and planting and I couldn't turn down easy money. I feel like such a big girl. :)

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Neener... ))))))))))) have fun today!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
Love the beautiful colors you have Debra! Very pretty. I tried to grow hibiscus from seed, they got about 2 inches, and just died.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

These hibis are tropical but the color is different than anything I usually see, but I sure do like them.

Had a small brug with 3 huge blooms and it has dropped 2 of them, guess hot and dry was better than nicer and wetter... so sad.

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

I finally have one brug that has buds. It is my oldest one that has been fighting some kind of disease for a couple of years now. I guess we'll see what it does. A lot of my tropical hibis are dropping buds like crazy. It cools down and then gets nasty again. Heat kind of snuck up on me today.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Those are pretty!

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

How cool deejay, can't wait to see pics of the gardens either. How is the garden room doing?

I think my tropicals are a bit confused since we went from above 100 and dry to the high 80's and wet and cloudy. Now I am getting yellowing leaves and losing buds....oh well.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Joyce, Love those hib colors..
Kaitlyn has nice buds, we will see if they are still in one piece when I gt back home after being gone a week.. Joe says he will water, however, I can't imagine him picking worms from anything let alone looking at them close enough or long enough to notice... LOL

Wow Debra, that plumeria has beautiful color, some of my leaves are a little yellow. Yours looks really healthy and happy. I found a big old fat horn worm, my Mom called them tobacco worm, just munching away on the bottom side of a brug leaf. Those guys are soooo hard to see. I know DH would of never seen him.

Had to laugh out loud, the iris look great there and when they bloom it will be amazing! Love the 4-wheeler... ;)
I don't think I realized there were that many hens/chicks until now. Can't wait to see it filled in.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Thank you. happ, on the other site, there is someone who says that their are about 2500 different Hen & Chicks. You will find the info on the : Sempervivum and Jovibarba forum

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Faye, that is alot of work, but can't wait to see it in full bloom there..

I just put my hens and chicks on one of those rocks with holes, hope they make it... didn't put too much dirt on them..

I will have to cut the hibiscus down for you, Faye, no problem on shipping, I owe you anyway.. just keep them going and you will have blooms this winter for sure..
it poured last night so hard it laid all the tall stuff down..

Just wandering by and have a few coleus pics for you. They are really looking good right now. Lots of cuttings out there for folks that want some.

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

I am sooo in awe of how your gardens grow! Ours don't even do that in a good year around here. I so want to move somewhere that things actually GROW. I was so stupid when I lived in Los Angeles. I did not know how lucky I was. I have some wonderful flowerbeds available to me and did plant flowers in them. I just did not know enough back then to know what I could REALLY do there. If I only knew then what I know now. By the time I get to leave Odessa, I will be too old to do what I want. Not FAIR!! LOL

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Tammie you sound like me. I've had places where I could grow good stuff and did, but didn't appreciate it fully at the time. Now that I am in the woods and struggling to grow things I understand how good it was. Since we were planning to leave here in a few years I was looking forward to having an open field in full sun. With the economy the way it is, I think we are going to be stuck here through our retirement, so now I am planting raised beds in the middle of the driveway to get some sun! :0) It stinks for sure!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

rofl, I was thinking the same thing since I love tropicals I use to live in San Antonio and I had plants but mostly inside when I could of been growing tropicals outside...rofl.

Guess it is like that old song "Love the one your with", we do what we do with what we got...which is why I have a solar room and a garden room to grow my tropicals. Gosh rvnsbrk, one of my favorite gardens is my shade garden, but maybe if that is all I had I wouldn't be so drawn to it.

DH talks about he would like to move to Vegas but I can't imagine moving to that heat and sand, I really wouldn't know what to grow.

Debra, glad you got rain, but hope your plants all stand back up. We got rain and bad winds last night, but I went out and laid over the pots of brugs, ee's, and voodoo lily before cause I knew they were going to get blown over.

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Love your Coleus Nita, They look a lot like mine! Thanks to you and Susan

OMG! She sure is growing good! Keep it up!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Good job deejay, do you have a Y branching yet? I couldn't tell fro, the photo.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Another way to tell if she is about to bloom, is look at the top leaves. If they are different in shape, instead of the same on each side, they are getting ready to bud.
