Best/Worse/What did I learnt today? Chat with friends..

Think Susan, my back is aching because of all the driving I did last week..this getting old is for the birds.. I often drive 10-12 hrs. a stretch stopping a few times for maybe 1/2 hr. - don't mind providing I have someone to gab to, if alone, I'll stop more often just so I can chat with someone..lol you just never know who you will meet!

Susan, Toronto is closest major airport!

ahhhhh I thought so, and it's going to be mega expensive on my airmiles to come out next year. I will have to keep watching the "sales" between Calgary and Toronto..... you Would pick me up, wouldn't you?!?!?!

Well, if it's in June or July (high season), I could NOT afford it with my Airmiles! In May, would cost me 2500 airmiles, but in June/July would be 3300 and I don't have that. Will definitely have to check if I spent $$ and if I could afford it.

You know I'd come or have someone pick you up..wouldn't have thought that was high travel time in June..July/August/September yes but not June...no, you don't want to get into financial bind just to visit me...perhaps in low season you could come..

Greg also called earlier, he's coming for spaghetti dinner as he's alone tonight..said he'd get done my 'to do' task list..he and Melanie went on Harley for the day up to Bala/Port Carling..cottage country and said they got back too late last night for him to come and do the list..

She chained him to the kennel and fed him on dog food; Zdzislaw was given water from a dog's bowl. At night the temperatures often dropped to minus 20 degrees Celsius. She told reporters that she was sick of him being the way he was.

His drinking companions worried by his non-attendance in the pub and eventually called the police..he was freed and now behaving!!!

I just spoke to a lovely friend of mine in Manitoba - Echoes/Brenda, and during the course of the conversation she asked for my son's name - no communication from him since Jan/2000 and have not seen him since Dec 1998. He was (is?) a drug addict, con artist, and abusive.
She found him on Facebook, working as a chef (as of 2009 - is he still there? don't know.
Here's his picture..... I'm a bit upset and don't know what to think. I would not want to contact him certainly, at this point. I've emailed his sister (my DD) and let her know. She goes on Facebook and Might be interested. He's a younger brother to her.
Not asking for opinions, just wanted to vent.... I'd be afraid to contact him anyway. He's over 30, but I'm sure has not changed from when he was 18 when I saw him last. "It's all about Me" according to him, and we're a dysfunctional family (NOT!). We're the reason he doesn't get to see his son (WHAT? We don't live with his ex, nor have any say over whether he sees his son - Dan just likes to make excuses for his behaviour........)

Oh Susan, vent all you want..we cannot help what route our kids do/become..sometimes I think the easiest thing to do is blame parents, beats taking responsibility for their own actions.
Sometimes it's better not to know what circumstances they are in.

I always said that if he were killed, I'd hear about it cuz he had his footprint and fingerprints when he was born and his grandmother lives at the same house as is listed on his birth cert as "grandparents". If I didn't hear, he was either in prison and embarrased about it, or doing fine.
He's 32 now, so is ok to find his own way. I'm registered on FB, so he could contact me if he wished.

LK - I haven't seen him in 13 years - he's now 32. I don't think he thinks of his family at all anymore. I tried to reach him years ago, to let him know of his father's health problems, and he never contacted me.

Sometimes we need to let them do their own thing, and hopefully someday he will realize he has made mistakes and ask you for forgiveness! (((((((((((HUGS))))))))))

Maybe, but I doubt it. I just got off the phone with my daughter and she was telling me (DUH) that there was a way to send a message without being his "friend".
so, I did...... she's a little in shock that I did so, but as I said - my doing so doesn't impare her or his ex or his son. It's something I did and as a mother I have a right to contact my son. We don't have the same "relationship" as my daughter would have, to him, and that's obvious. Again, she was still in shock and hadn't the time to process things, nor in the way I would.... so, we'll see if he contacts me back, via facebook. I only sent him a "I'm fine, hope you are too" message.

Hoping maybe Susan now that you've made first move he'll reply! Must be terrible for you having no relationship..just know it would send me around the bend..

Crissy, yes almost 100,000. When I dropped the car off I asked Mark to check how much to have timing belt/chain done as preventive maintenance..he says one done I'm good for same mileage..just think how many trips that would be..I said I'd get it done next month is within reason..know the deLership once quoted between $500-600..Mark was just close g shop, said it depended if water pump was part of it..we'll see..might opt for deLefship fixing.

Greg just called, going home to lye Ned and Sophie out then will be here shortly..you should see my list..lol. No way he can get it all done tonight!

Not getting much done here, we ate, gabbing a lot, watching Rockford files from the 70's, work going by wayside..did get one project done..had 8 so might get 3 or 3 of them, nothing major that I can't do without, all 5 10 minute projects..guess quality time is better than working!

Susan, I don't know what to say...vent away, holler at us, scream, yell, cry at us !! do what ever you got to do ...FOR YOU.....yes that was a yell !!! cause I want you to be "ok" so I am yellin at you !!! what is a friend for?? help when needed......

Thanks everyone. It just seems I can't ever get "up" and I'm afraid to be such a "downer". I'm also being pragmatic about this. It's been 13 years since I've seen him, and 11 years since I talked to him. I haven't seen anyone else with quite the same situation here, so not sure how to take it.....
I'm not sure I want to open a whole new "can of worms" and I'm trying to be sensible about it all, and not open myself to hurt. After all, he was (is) a con man and I know all my help was looked at by him as weakness.

btw - the temp went today from 8c this afternoon to 13c this afternoon and it's supposed to be warmer tomorrow. It was 27c yesterday...... go figure, eh?!

Susan, this is such a hard hard situation. My girls "go missing" for months at a time with nothing to do with us....then something happens and the show up. They are two of the moodiest individuals I have ever met in my life. I have a brother missing almost 30 years....none of us know where he is. Not even his Mom....so I do understand that feeling a bit. Its NOT easy....and very painful. Sometimes I think what I have to do...is just realize it is NOT ME. It is something in them....and when they work thru whatever it is...hopefully will come around before it is too late. It is much easier to blame others for what happened in your life...than yourself. (Him not you). One day...he will look in the mirror hopefull and know the hurt.

well Susan, when you share your "down" feelings, you get to feel a little better...at least that is how I feel, some times just to say something out loud..to another person, even if via the computer, helps that "down" go a little bit up...

I did not talk to my father for the last 30 years of his life, different situation, I am sure.....but we all have "skeletons in our closets" some times it is good to let them out a little at a time.....other times it can be best to keep them in...only you know....

FWIW.... your DS reminds me of DS's bio-dad... and the last few years he has really tried to set his own life straight.. new wife and baby... and wanting to try a relationship with DS....

So I'm sure there is plenty of time for him to turn around. Funny about Betty's ESP because I thought she read my mind the other day too.... She really knows us so well ((HUGS)) Betty....

Mary, You are SO right. And now, he is having his elbow surgery NEXT week! I have plans ALL week....and Barb and Norm for Saturday. I am NOT happy. I do understand WHY he needs it now, with the possible job situation and insurance issues...but it could have waited to the following week.

Nate had his orientation today, works 10 to 4:00 on Weds. & Saturday this week for training.

well, heading to bed. I have to get up at 4:20....and drive DH to a coworkers house....as he is bringing home his Boss' motorcycle for the next week or so. Sigh.

Nate got a job at the local Tops Grocery store. They give them shirts to wear....so he just needed the pants, which he picked up on Friday night. He will be cashier to start, and training him to do other areas if it is slow and to fill in for others.

Darlene has already been, I had started 3 mdf panel for washroom closet door and never finished the project..she dropped in to measure frame so that Mike can make them for me..one way of saying 'get at it'. Now to see what else is dragging..

I get to work the "odd" shift today Oh hurray!!! 9:30 to 6:30... well it is better than having had to have been there for 7am...got quite a few odd shift in the nest few weeks...11am to 8 pm a few days in a row, and some 1-10's instead of 2-11...so nice when they "cut" hours :( getting lots of 37's instead of 40 I guess I should quit complaining now, butttttt that 37....37..37...adds up after awhile, will have to make a few of these medical payments we were talking about, lower amounts for this month :( , may not effect some, but when hours are cut, by 3-4 hours every week, at the end of the month, it sure affects my budget!!!

Been MIA again, we went on a short trip to my inlaws and spent a wonderful time with the family. Just the darn blackflies (we don`t have them here) had a feast on my legs!! I wish I could dip myself in the hydrocortisone cream...lol

Had but 3 telephone calls in 1 1/2 hrs.working from home...could have had an initial assessment with a gentleman who called at 1:30am, told him I was answering service and call back this morning..think he thought he'd he'd leave telephone number on answering system and not get live person

Good Morning...

I spent the day yesterday, going through photo's. Julia ended up helping me create a disc for Brittany and Brian's Mom.

I also did some other computer projects I've been working...And i finally found the photo's I took with the small camera!! Woohoo!
Breenie copied them into her files. She had taken the small camera, grrr. didn't realize i was working with that camera. So forced to use the cam corder/camera.
Ended up buying a disc for it, then when putting disc in it erased all internal memory photos!!
Anyway, we are all just sort of working slowly on things, keeping busy to take mind off...
On the job front, Steve had to hire back one of the workers he "let go" But they actually finished up early...

Also yesterday was a full day of running! Jake had school book pick up day..And started football camp, yikes, 5:30 to 10:00 work out and the then 3-7. I pick the boys up up at end of first work out and drop them for second...They get a ride in The AM and last, yikes and so the year begins!

Well then if more bad news received, A very good friend of Julia and Alissa was killed in a motorcycle accident July 27th! We just saw him, a couple weeks prior. He and Julia Dated for about 6 months. They stayed in touch all this time via FB...He had come to visit and let us know he was doing well.

Today, Brittany's family is heading back to Michigan. I am sure they will be back next week for the memorial, still not sure when it is..
Steve went and hooked up their washer/dryer...They just finished putting in the staircase to basement, so it had to be moved to different location.
And for now Jake will go and keep the lawn cut for her.
Their Dog, Harley is pretty hyper, especially when Steve goes over, I think he is wondering where Brian is.

I have caught up in reading the posts...Will be back in a bit have an errand to run.

Oh Susan I can't relate but many prayers are going out to your son. That has GOT to be tough.

Judy!! I'm so sorry for the loss of that kid! How very sad, I lost a few friends due to motorcycle accidents too, it's not easy.
