Going to visit sister over Labor day weekend. We are trying to reconnect. Hope all works out. I have been working on a quilt since Feb. this year
and would like to finish and take with me.

LK sorry about the roof. And hope it can be fixed soon.
Will need to take a pic DH built a trellis last year and I have found a plant that will work to cover and have flowers with a pretty smell. Clematis 'paniculata'.
Keep fingers crossed and hope this plant grows.

Sun is rising, on the cool side, fall morning temps but will get hotter as the morning progresses.

DIL Melanie came for a visit late yesterday afternoon, picked up Ned who was extremely excited to see her, guess grandma doesn't walk far enough for her. They had a wonderful time at the cottage this week, had to return early because both boys had to work..life changing for them now that the kids have lives of their own!! They are great parents, proud of them..

Needs to wash and spray wax upper floors then my work for the day has ended..will take photo's of my rose of Sharon that is just starting to bloom and photo of my crab apple tree, its only 3 years old but branches actually falling to the ground as it's so laden with apples..should look up crabapple jam recipe. Should also cut down most of the spent flowers, garden isn't at it's prettiest for Barb and Norm..I'll have to sit them down and show them photo's of what each area looked like about a month ago ,that or plastic flowers lol

Mary, big arm wraps, sorry you had a hard day at work yesterday! Great that hubby took his birthday to accomplish much of the work that needs done for tonight's party..am praying it goes off without a hitch, I'm sure that all of us will Kate night/early morning will be checking posts so we can breathe a sigh of relief with you...do enjoy your meeting today!

Yesterday while gabbing with Melanie, I was chatting about my visit to chicago and Barb/Norm's visit..she asked if I had met my guests yet and I said 'no', when you tell people that, they get such a strange look on their faces..always ask 'but you don't know if you'll like them or not??'. LindaKay did the adjuster come yet, was there more inside damage done from the flooding. Worry about mold setting in..our insurances send in specialty cleaning company when something like this happens, they put in dehumidifier fans to dry up water from timbers/drywall and flooring!

Dianne, hope you and Warren were able to get a good night sleep. I'm so lucky to have Cathy take me under her wings, if by chance I've left a dish or two in zinc or didn't get dusting done she's right there..wonderful to have friends who enjoy cleaning..

Wish we all lived closer, we could have a good old quilting bee..saw in Mary Maxim the perfect frame, easy to set up a quilt and when done for the day the quilt can be switched to a standing position...what kind of frame do you have?

Today, hmmm although it looked sunny it's now overcast..so can work in the gardens here and there..just did main layer floors so housework is done, might even make spaghetti sauce lol

Took the rugs from bedroom outside, will wash them, doesn't take long the smell like dog..that's why I'm partial to the linoleum rugs I make, much easier care..that being said might make a simple one for the bedroom so that I can use it until Sailor stops shedding! we'll have to see just how much ambition I have..

Think I'll go take a couple of photo's, have another coffee while floors are drying and then decide what I want to do..

Betty, I am excited....arranging a way to see Barb & Norm on their trip back. Sure hope it pans out. Not sure if will meet up by the Falls....or up here near me.

Lots of running this morning, DS to work DAS (adopted son) to a party he is helping, and "the child" is on her own. Tonight we have a birthday party for a long time friend of DH & myself.....DH since they were 5. I went to high school with all three of them.

It may be slightly cooler here in the early morning. It won't be long before I'm getting the heater out o the shed. I'm hoping for a long fall season. It's a beautiful time of year here. A reward for surviving another summer.

Picked three papayas yesterday. Used one in a smoothie which was super good.

Need to sort out seeds for planting fall/winter crops. Hard to think of growing cole crops in this heat.

Had a nice cuddle with the dogs this morning. Scout who is now permanent is getting good at joinging in the hug times. She's also willing to share a food pan. It's funny - she will kind of hover over one of the big food pans until I say "share" and then she moves to one side.

I'm not awake yet.

Debbie, excitement overflows here as well!

Went and cut a strip off roll of linoleum, of course it's 6' wide and I only need 1/2 that width, first thing I thought of was to seal it as well, might be a few minutes left in their visit that we could make one..I'll find out what her kitchen colors are and do a base coat of that color so the mat will be ready to paint! Mine will be all black with red floral insert to match my pillow..Sailor won't think it's as comfy as the rug but mom will love not having to vacuum every day.

Not many these daysDebbie still are in contact with childhood friends.

Fall look

Betty Shane & Nate have been friends since....4th grade/age 9. He is a very smart, gifted kid...musically talented winning awards with Clarinet & voice, in quite a few school musicals, and if not on stage ...in the band.

Last Sunday I got a call from Nate..."Mom...are you busy?" I could tell the tension and near tears in his voice.....his Mom was on the warpath. He said "I just need out of here, to get away so we can both cool down a bit" I said "On my way". While I was on the way over there...his Mom called my cell phone (used redial button) and said "Don't bother coming to get him....I called the sheriff to bring him back". Well....I had told Nate to just start walking down the road....and I would be there....so I kept going.

Sure enough Nate was walking, I picked him up.....and went down a side road a different way. Handed him the cellphone and said "We need damage control.....call 911...tell the your name...that your DM just called in a domestic issue....and what is going on. Tell them you are with me, my phone number...and address. Tell them it is NOT safe at your house right now...and you and your mom just need space". He did all this...the Sheriff said "thanks for letting us know". About 20 minutes later....he got a text message from his Dad. "Nate, your Mom says she is done with you....get your things and get out. "

And well, here we are.

Oh Debbie, that's quite a situation..not many would have kept a level head such as you've done...are you friends with his mom? is she the kind to go off deep end every now and then..know you and Shane were having difficulties a few weeks ago and managed to bring the issues around..sure wish his mom could have..will she now be against you for stepping in..sure hope not!

Katie, glad the hot weather has broken, least you don't have to worry about snow but am sure there are other weather issues to be safeguarded against. Can you take pictures, would love to see what you see from your tub? Can't remember if it was you who was having camera issues..actually I'm having same, not sure what I touched on my camera but now a foreign language and I cannot find 'english' even french would help..lol now it's also on internal feature, can only take 4 photo's at a time..so must download then erase after every 4..

Bonnie, I met his Mom once....and it was 4th grade birthday party. Do not know her at all.

To tell you the type of mom she is...she didn't go to any school performances ever....and did not even go to Graduation. Only person Nate had there was his 22 year old sister. Not Dad, no one.

I worked for Social services years ago...so I knew the laws and what could and couldn't be done. And I swore, after what I went thru as a child...and no one helped...I would NEVER let a child feel unsafe like that again if there was anything I could do. SO, no, I didn't do anything special....was just a friend.

You are being far far too modest Debbie, don't forget we've spent quite a bit of time together and I know what kind of woman you are..know you'll shed a tear but I have to tell you, you dear mom, bless her soul would be proud of you! I'm a true believer abpngels walk amounts us, am sure your mom is always there helping you through all these hard times...you are indeed a blessing to all you meet...just sorry you Don't have a good sense of direction. Lol big time!

It is still in the low 90's here with humidity to match. Hot and humid but so much better than high 90's or low 100's. We grind to a halt then.

I've been clearing shelves so's to be able to brown bag the rest of the second wall. Slow and dusty work. Sorting out lots for Fely and friends. Watching "Bruce Almighty" while I work.

I've had to movve several times since I came here. Seems I just begin to get a house in order and I have to move. I'm permanent now. Thank God. Now I get to decide what I really want to do and give the extra stuff to Tony's family. With the two oldest boys in college I'm hoping the can find a way to make some money. Most of the women sew; we'll see what happens. It's out of my hands.

Still so happy about Nate. And Shane buying him clothes. What great kids. And Mom.

Katie, don,t you be overdoing in this heat..know you want to finish your project but there is always another day! Are the people in your region either very poor or extremely affluent? So very interesting!

I'm playing lazy right now, worked cutting down flower stock and some weeding for about 2 hours then could feel how muggy it got so gave up..craft room is cool, basement never warm so my floormat just isn't drying, was thinking of putting heater on but geese Louise, a/c on upstairs and heat downstairs, doesn't seem right!

Want to do my project though, we'll see..seems like such a waste just doing nothing. Lol

Never heard of a purple air code. Purple at the beach means Marine Life (sharks, jellyfish, etc.)

It's 5:23p here... trying to relax a bit before this deal... not sure when MIL / FIL will get here but I assume until then ... it's okay for me to hide in my room.... LOL.... I'll try to pop on... I think everything will be fine.

Got a call about 1/2 hour ago from a B&B In town..they are fully booked, couple looking for a room for 4 nights...here's me thinking the Good Lord sent me $$$ for my rad..remember Rose and the trailer? But, big but, I told them about Sailor and 2 kitties...no go! Oh well, NOT going to rid myself of furries just to make a few dollars!

I always keep the house spotless, at least in my eyes should I get a call so it wasn't as though I'd Have to do cleaning...they missed a nice experience..pretty and cozy here!

Half hour into it and I'm already fuming at DH. He GAVE DSD a box of Lei's that I had bought for a Luau Retirement party I put on for MIL years ago. I was saving them for my own party. I know that seems small.... why am I SO mad ?

Saw Mario the mailman. My package got here Thursday but his phone is not working. Life in Mexico. I'll get it Monday. I've had about tn days to get stuff out of my system. And I've been doing much better than I expected with only aspirin.

It's Tony and Fely's sons who are in college. Luis, the oldest, is at the university in La Paz studying to be a vetrenarian. Antonio is in college in Santa Rosalia, just north of here, studying computer science. We are all very proud of them. Barbara, the youngest, is in high school now. I've known her since before she was born. My family.

More whinning, so low, can't tell where it's coming from..can't find my flashlight so went and got a lamp and put it on the floor near grate hoping if she sees the light she will be able to come out..

Yikes, next move call Greg to come and disconnect a duct in basement, thank goodness the ceiling is not yet done...

Drats and more drats..looked outside, maybe that's why her voice is so low..just sick about her..

Sat down on the couch, thought if I stayed quiet maybe I'd hear her cry...heard her...no possible way to get under coffee table and yet that is where the sound is coming from..4 drawers, couldn't possibly be there....

I had gotten up to settle Sailor down and get a pop, was painting on my coffee table, you know the kind that the top lifts up and you can use it as a table...well, just under the lid on each side there are two boxes that you can place papers..when I got up I put the table top down and there she was...she's not smart enough because there she is again!!

Oh Betty - that must have been QUITE a scare... I've had that happen before and find we've closed Shadow off in a closet or something .... but Shadow made that low growl too... almost like in pain..... so it's scary....

Details about the party: We probably ended up with 40 something 'teens'...but they came by in 'shifts' so not too many at once. Adults: Me, DH, MIL, FIL, DH's friend and wife, and brother...
I saw a lot of folks leaving and coming back but no one seemed out of whack... so if they were drinking it must have been in moderation....Everyone is just now leaving so I came back here to visit with ya'll because I have a tendency to have a "Clean up Habit" and kept noticing myself picking up stuff.... so left...I am NOT cleaning that mess up.... LOL

Had a wonderful day today ('cept I got Sunburnt on my left arm lol) Bob & I went fishing in Kananaskis Country, only 1 hour from home. It's a beautiful area with lots of trees (very forested) and we went to Allen Bill Pond - stocked with Brook Trout. We caught 2, but Bob didn't bag the 2nd one, so it flopped down the beach back to the water and we lost it LOL
People fishing next to us were catching one every 5 minutes or so (we were there for 6 hours and only caught one that we got to keep lol) and so they gave us 3 fish. Nice, eh?
We're going back there tomorrow after church.... hmmmmm does that make us fishermen on the Sabbath? lol

Good mornig everyone.
We just got back from attending my 50th HS reunion last night. I had never been to any of the ones they held before so it was a case of shock for me to see everyone 50 years later!! It is amazing how many I knew right away and how many I never would have guessed who they were. It was a great time and I found out that the daughter of one of my classmates lives just around the corner from me. Considering I live 75 miles from where I went to school, I think iit's quite wonderful Now when she comes to see her daughter, we will be able to visit too...

I'm so glad the party went without any trouble (not counting hubby's) Mary. And don't you dare clean anything!!!!

Judy, can't wait to hear all about your visit with Liz and Kenny. Sounds like it was a good one. I'm so sorry to hear about Steve's partner. This must have been very sudden.

I'm on the countdown now to Sat and the start of our journey North. Can't wait to see Mittsy, Thea, Dianne and Betty. As as an added bonus I'll get to see Debbie on the way back home!!!! Will be heading back Friday or Saturday and Yes, Deb, Norm says there is no reason we can't travel up to your neck of the woods too....Maybe plan to stay the night in Rochester and then drive home the next day. Kudos to DH for surrendering his credit card. He must have heard about the Hubby Hole.

I watched Hollywoodland - Ben Affleck was excellent. And Victus - directed by Clint Eastwood so was watchable but not great. Fell asleep to Terminator Salvation. Two more for today. Lazy Sunday.

Remember when there was all the press about who shot JR on Dallas? Around that time there was a true article about a man who was killed and buried and no one cared. It was hilarious. He was not real popular and whenever someone asked about him the family would just shrug. Took a year or so to find the body and by then no one was charged. Katie you are too funny, just spit out my coffee...having same kind of day, did get dressed though for garden work then I remembered I must go get dog and cat food and something for a treat for me.. so have to undress, dress for store and get back into grubbies..should do that now before I get into something...ahhhh like clean my craft room as the girls are painting tomorrow!
