Morning all,
Dianne, know overwhelmed just doesn't describe what you are going through! It's the feeling of desperation so wanting to take your loved one's pain away and not being ale to do anything, terrible feeling!
A plus having an oncologist you both have faith in..so many of the drugs have terrible side effects, not worth trying! Hugs and prayers coming your way...
Trying to get Ned to eat, he must be missing Greg/Mel and the boys..must be something I can tempt him with.
In a rush this morning, need to drop off the vehicle then have them drive me to work..will chat when I get to the office
Meteor showers tonight, hoping to watch the show..
Best/Worse/What did I learnt today? Chat with friends..
Morning Bonnie and Bev! Gorgeous looking day out there, hope it stays like this!!!
(((Bev))) here's hoping that Tues is THE day for your cast removal. Hope you are taking good care of yourself. I know, easier to say than actually do.
Loved all your pics Betty - keep them coming!!
BBL
Dianne
So pretty Bev..such a soft color! Lordy you've had a cast since almost early summer, maybe that's the way the Lord had to slow you down!!!
Dianne, I took 460 photo's, most o the skyline..so beautiful..
Charging my camera as Barb and Norm will soon be here..I'm as excited as can be.
Dropped off the car, am sure I'll be panicking each time the telephone rings to tell me where the fluid is escaping from..doubt it will be as simple as a hole in tubing but I can hope.
They charge $49.99 to look for the problem which I didn't think was too high..once they call I'll have to decide if I'll have it done at the dealership or have a friend who was a mechanic do the work.
I lost the thread!!! My head has been swimming, running like a crazy lady....and somehow I lost you all.
Janice, I am so sorry about your news.....but we will all be here with you. Little Jonathon is totally adorable, so so very cute and I know fun!
Love the Christmas oranments Betty. A few weeks ago, my Carrie brought over a box she found in her garage. Well, it is full of my Moms things....SNOWMEN! More snowmen. My attic is already full of ones I can't part with. I haven't been in the frame of mind to look threw it....but will soon.
Mary, Nate "should" hear something about the job today. We couldn't get him in for a physical...so the high school has the school doctor in for sports physicals....and since he is under 18...they said he could come in for one, get his working papers finished and then come home and call the Store about the job. It is a major process because he is under 18.
AND...I am now his guardian....for the next four months at least. Sigh. HOW do I get myself into these things when I can't take care of what we already have it seems.
Didn't sleep well....felt like I woke up with a broken heart...just feels something is "amiss" in the atmosphere...and I am waiting to find out what.
Will be back, need coffee!
Debbie
Wondered where you were Debbie..just about ready to send out the DG police!!
It's always those with a full plate that take on such things, you've a heart of gold!!!Know I've given you Angel Wings but adding gold trim to them this morning...difficult going through boxes of loved ones, but I'm sure along with the tears you will have so many memories return..perhaps you should go through and keep those that mean the most to you and make a box for each of the children.. at Christmas when we as a family sit before opening gifts we put a specialty ornament on the tree for Roger..each year taking them out I shed a tear but it's a way of having him near..
Can't wait to hear how Nate made out? Any sizes for us or specialty needs?
painting away
Almost forgot, got the call from dealership, not the hoses, but not the engine either..need a new rad..$850 for rad and labour..none in stock, says I shouldn't have a problem as long as I make sure I check fluid levels..she kind of hinted perhaps I'd like to take it to a radiator shop as they use after market, which is fine and it's much cheaper..
Called Mark's auto , another friend, they are checking costs..might call a Barrie Radiator shop and see their price then have it repaired. Always something..there goes my painting the bedrooms budget..
Booked an appt. for mid week in Midland..will either work from home that day or will hitch a ride with Suzanne..around $550 including taxes for that's a plus..need wheels lol
Just skimming here real fast, busy busy but ((((((((((((((((JANICE))))))))))))))))) I am so sorry about that news!
Debbie so glad Nate has that job lead!!! YEAH!!
Nice pics Betty!
I'll be back later, busy busy!
Morning everyone!
Dianne, sending you lots of thoughts and prayers, and big (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))) too!
Bev, bet you will be glad when you finally get that cast off your arm! Sounds like ti was broken pretty good?
Betty, that sure sounds like a lot of money for a radiator? What kind of car do you have?
Well, we had 4 inches of rain last night, and I guess our roof had a leak, and the ceiling came down... Looks like we will be doing the roof and new ceiling soon!!!
Good morning everyone, It's a beautiful day here in NH. The temp is at 78 right now with bright sun. Haven't had too many of these kind of days this year so I'm just loving it.
Dearest Dianne - My heart is heavy with your news and I am praying extra hard for W's comfort. Will you have to travel for his radiation?
Hope it is not far if so.
Love your outlook Susan. I have decided I have NO problems at all......
And Katie a belated welcome to you too. I've been a bit busy here these last few weeks and haven't had the time I normally would have here. But the welcome is most sincere.
Mary, it sounds like things are quiet for the time being in your world. That is a wonderful thing right???? When is this party?
Bev, I sure hope that cast comes off soon. And I agree it was God's way of having you take it easy this summer. Dealing with Scotty was enough.
Deb - give me another five minutes and check your dmail!!!!
Finally getting caught up with my sewing. Just finished a wall hanging and a tote today. Now I am determined not to use the sewing machine until I have the room straightened out. It is such a mess......
Not too much time as I need to go get a haircut today and do a bit of shopping for our trip to Canada. Getting very excited here.
Have the best day ever....Barb
Edited to add --- OMG LindaKay. Will insurance cover this?? I'm so sorry.
This message was edited Aug 12, 2011 10:52 AM
I sure hope so! Waiting on them to call me back, and send out an adjuster...
Drought for months and now torrential rain..omg LindaKay, know it's what you've been praying for but NOT for this...has the rain stopped or is it coming through as I type...let's hope adjusters get there quickly. New ceiling, something to look forward to..let's hope not a new roof though.
Is Mary's step daughter's party tonight??? almost think so..I'll be with all of you hoping nothing goes wrong..hmmm the the sd is surely to say 'I told you nothing would happen!'
Barb, you'll be travelling at a good time, think the hot humid weather may be behind us..imagine you'll be a few weeks early for the show of colors..you have similar in your neck of the woods so wouldn't be too exciting to see. 78 is perfect weather! Imagine I put car heater on this morning just to take the chill away. Cathy was at the house yesterday because all my lawn was cut, she must have thought it hot in the house because she turned on a/c.
It rained from about 11:00 last night till about 2:00 this morning.
I can't remember if Marys DSDs party is tonight or tomorrow....I have CRS!
What a morning! School had "wrong day" for physical so Nate couldn't get the working papers. The docs office said not for 3 or 4 weeks physical appt. available! SO, I got on the phone, called a satalite office....which is actually just 4 houses down from me.....and they got him in on THEIR lunch hour! Nate has working papers....and an INTERVIEW at 3:00!!
So please, say a prayer this works!
Good morning, everyone,
Got another section of wall brown bagged. Now I can set up a sewing machine there and maybe do a little sewing between bouts of brown bagging. Even with the a/c it's hot work. But if I do a section every day or two it will eventually get done. While I'm working my way around the room I'm sorting out fabric to give Tony's family. It took about an hour to do what I did today and I'm still mobile. Still waiting for pain killers to come in the mail. Probably not until next week. I've been sleeping pretty well and that helps.
One small storm in southern mainland Mexico. Not much chance of rain for us. Our temps are in the low 90's. The humidity is so high it's like a sauna. But a cooler sauna than usual for this time of year so we're grateful.
Less pain today; I'm getting laundry and dishes washed. But I'm about ready for a npa.
hugs, katie
Prayers for Nate and everyone else. kb
LK - I called for a gentle soaking rain, not for it to soak your ceiling!!!! Specifically asked for no damage!! I know the ole "be careful what you wish for" adage too well!! I hope your insurance covers this....
Dianne - praying for Warren....... I hope the oncologist gets something for him that works and you and he can live with!!
Bev - good thing you've had your cast on longer - I agree, you had enough with Scotty so needed the rest.
Debbie - Here's hoping for Nate's interview to go well and that he hears right away that he gets the job he wants/deserves! (Always have to put the codecil in that he "wants/deserves" cuz just getting a job isn't sufficient!). You're a true angel, m'dear, there's no denying that! His guardian, eh?
Betty - getting a "gently used" part is always a good option! I would never go to a dealership for repairs - they're far too costly!
Janice - keeping you in my prayers. Say HI to your Fairy/Stacy and a kiss for Jonathan, for me, please.
Katie - so glad you posted! Happy you're not having pain now and waiting for your meds to arrive. Good for you on the brown bagging - would love to see pictures! I remember when I did brown bagging on my floor - looked like flagstones, but that was weird inside I was told - oh well LOL
Debbie, Nate is an American though right?? or is it that he needs working papers specifically because to work under 18 you need them?
Kyle is 15, don't think he needed any such thing..also wanted to ask, how were you able to obtain guardianship? is it because his parents kicked him out and had no home?
Went and got my wheels at lunch, just have to be careful that overflow jug is always filled..won't go anywhere this weekend..told them to call as soon as it's in and I'll find a way to get Betsy in..
Susan, didn't brown bag floors but painted them to look like rocks..been 5 years of wear and tear and still look like new..at one time I thought I'd put flooring down but you can come in with boots, snow dripping, mud and washes easily..infact mud just dries and you sweep it clean.
I remember that. Beautiful job. kb
They let me put down "Guardian" as he is living with us, and actually a "displaced person".
All kids under 18 have to have papers to work. School age still in school....can only get part time and not work past 9:00 or 10:00 p.m. Nate was able to obtain full time working papers and I just had to sign as "guardian" in case of an emergency for contact.
Thanks Katie..
Debbie, understand now..I bet he treats you respectfully!
Time to pack up..
Think this weekend will be at home, tidy up my craft room, maybe wash some drapes, Ned seems to lay next to them and I can smell doggy which I do not like..
Been vacuuming the scatter rug in my bedroom..half a mind to make a mat with bedspread design and keep it on the floor till the furries stop shedding..would make life much easier.
Maybe some sewing, some gardening..just an all around 'play weekend'..
Are you ready for this? Nate got the job!! Whoooo Hooo! Starts Monday at 3:00! This is VERY good for him...break him in gently without a 6:00 a.m. start. AND...I got a big hug for "Thank you for believing in me and helping me".
This is good, and will give him some independence $$$ wise and life experience.
^_^ Debbie, that is awesome!!!! Congrats Nate!
Yaaaaaaaaaaaay for Nate!!
That's wonderful!! Good for Nate. And Debbie, too.
hugs, katie
I'm going to soak in my outdoor tub. The water is hot and feels good on my sore body.
Debbie, doing the happy dance you both you and Nate...sometimes that 's all it takes is having someone who believes in you! Imagine in but a week he's accomplished being taken into a loving home, best step in mom there is and a job...congratulations Nate ****
What will the job entail Debbie? Shane must be excited as well...you mustsurely be on a roll
Your sitting in the tub outside Katie sounds so relaxing..are you near enough to the water that you could enjoy the view as well?
Where's that Mary, anxiously awaiting her Friday night report.
Not sure but think Debbie/Steve and Liz/Kenny must either be home or on their way home, holiday will be soon be over for the. Think Liz said flight out will be Saturday a.m. Hope they've enjoyed the week.
I have a view of the Mulege River and the eagle's nests on the phone poles in the arroyo. I can also water my gac vine and the little pomegranite trees from the tub.
kb
Betty says: "Not sure but think Debbie/Steve and Liz/Kenny must either be home "
Betty....You pairing me up with Steve? Judy might not be too happy about that!!!
Well, DH just came home...and you know that feeling I said I had...about "something" going on? DH got word he probably wont have a job come October.
Two steps forward...3 steps back.
so sorry to hear about your DH, Debbie - your intuition was working overtime!
I'm glad I don't have that type of intuition! It would be too scary.
I can sense something, sometimes, but usualy it's so far in the future that I never worry about it, just prepare for it!!
Oh Debbie, big hugs for you! You've been dreading this bit of new for some time now, even though you have it's still a shock..let's hope somehow something changes in the next few weeks...
The key word you wrote 'probably' could still hold some hope!
Katie, sounds as though your tub is located in the perfect spot..envy you..
I know why I'm so addicted to you ladies....it's cuz you make me feel SO SO LOVED !
Hello to all ! Dianne... I am praying so hard for you ... this is where I type then delete type then delete (and repeat) because I just don't know what to say but sending love.
Betty - Wow - you will see Barb & Norm that soon ! I think you must have found a real good mechanic to send you elsewhere... Betty - you are "in my head".... because that's exactly what I was thinking (chuckle) "See I TOLD you nothing would go wrong !".... we shall see...
Deb... I've done that before... click 'unwatch' when I mean 'unread'.... LOL... YAY NATE ! Got my pompons out and cheering. I'm with Betty - hope that "Probably" means probably NOT. October is still a bit away even IF Betty already is decorating for Halloween....
Nothing to do with you gal...the Lord sent Nate to you.... because you are such an angel....
Oh Geez LK... I sure hope the insurance covers it... I was about to ask Susan to pray for me some rain Sat night but don't need ALL Those kids in my HOUSE....
Hope you found the damage in time to prevent worse.... we had that happen during Hurricane Rita (right after Katrina)
Barb... yes I DO love quiet... and I sure had a "bad" day but I'm with you gal... NO PROBLEMS HERE ! LOL
Katie... hope you get a nice relaxing soak and less pain... so sweet of you to share with your adopted family...
Susan...what are you up to this weekend?
Okay - yes the party is Tomorrow night. DH took today off (his bday) and has been working to clean up all day. I didn't realize that the party will all be fed TACO's as well LOL. So he bought 7 lbs ground meat and cooked it... And he's outside right now stringing up lights.
Will try to take a pic.... it should be so pretty. I know he is trying to get all done so he can go with me to the hibiscus meeting tomorrow.
I had a tough day at work today (repeating....no problems...no problems).... so I'm just glad to relax. I've done nothing so far to clean or set up and haven't been asked (dare they?) LOL...
So....I will pop back in a bit...
Hugs,
Mary
up to...... well, Mary - Bob wants to go fishing tomorrow. He wants to make a picnic day trip (1 hour from Calgary is a great fishing spot, in Kananaskis area) and he has the only fishing license...... siiiiiiigh so guess I'll be handstitching quilt pieces while watching him fish. I do, after all, have the polar fleece that Karen (Siliolgrama) sent me. It's wonderful colours and patterns for young children. I'm making some lap quilt sized ones for the church crying room (behind the sanctuary where parents can take children when they're acting up, but still hear/see the service)
Oh Mary, you are all going to be SO busy! A taco bar will be fun for the kids and actually easy fix!
I have to tell you what my son did. He works at the bar on Fridays, early morning 9:00 to 4:00. Which is basically the breakfast and lunch golfers coming in. Well, he had a two hour stretch with NO ONE. So he played two lotto number tickets that draw every 5 mintues or so. Little snot won $55.00. SO, he gets done, and gets his tip jar....$38.00 in tips! Plus his paycheck today.
So tonight the 3 of the kids went out (the child, Shane & Nate). My son bought Nate a pair of pants for work, a nice shirt, a "hoodie jacket" and socks at Target. Nate had the $25 from his sister....but Shane paid the rest to help him out. I am just so proud of him. SO, Nate comes home SO excited....runs up and changes and has to come down and show me. LOL
He didn't know he got skinny jeans...until he put them on. That boy is so thin..and putting those on I thought he would fly away!
AND...he got a call from his sister. She is 22...and guess what? She moved out of the house yesterday. Moved in with a friend, seems she was staying there for Nate to make sure he was OK.
Debbie - lucky Shane!! Paycheque Plus $93!!
LOL Nate, not knowing they were "skinny jeans" Musta looked like a zipper turned sideways!
Sweet sister Nate has, wanting his to be OK - bless her heart!
Wow - Deb... Where the heck did these kids of yours get ALL Their generosity from ? LOL.... Good for Nate's sis...
Maybe everything will work out and they can help each other out....
((HUGS)) Susan...
I don't begrudge the Taco Bar... better them having something to eat.... if they get hungry....
I have had a few *jealous* pangs about all the effort from this party... and I realize that of the 9 years we've lived in this house.... everyone has had a party in their "honor" except me. and that was what I asked for my bday this year.
And my name is on the mortgage. Oh well.
The backyard looks great but my pics didnt' come out very good so dont' really want to post darkness.. LOL
Hugs,
Mary
Mary, I would feel that way...if that was what you asked for. It just isn't fair many times. AND...when money is tight, the parents always take a back seat and the kids needs get met....and it shouldn't always be like that.
My kids have always been generous and compassionet to others.....just not so much to each other. THe older ones, and Shannon also...remember when she was sick and we had so many wonderful people helping us...giving them a Christmas when there would have been none. Although Carrie & Andy showed a BIG step forward helping "the child" with the car. Helped with the deposit down and co-signed. OR she wouldn't have the wheels.
Well, I am going to have a little dish of yogert and go to bed. My stoamch feels like it is burning!
Sweet dreams,
Debbie
Ah Mary I really do understand about having a party just for your BD. My BD is Christmas week so I never, ever have had a BD party. Then DH and I got married on my BD (so he wouldn't forget my BD he said, ya right)and we did have a party but it was a 'surprise ' party. Actually the surprise was on our guests as we didn't tell anyone we were getting married except for the couple that stood up with us. DH called people and said "Dianne's BD is Dec 28 and she is going to be 30 so we are going to have a party and it is a bit of a surprise." People only listened with half and ear and assumed the party was for my BD. LOL, LOL
Rough week at work Mary? I would think in Advertising every day would be a rough day.
Betty are you in your new office completely now? Come snowy, icy days I bet you will be very glad you can switch the phone over to your own place.
Laura how did your garden plot turn out? We had 1 several years ao and there was a problem with teens coming through in the dark of night destroying people's hard work. Very discouraging. One old fella - he would have to be 80 if he was a day - sat out in his plot 1 sultry summer night and surprised some of these holligans. He must of put the fear of something in them as the destruction completely stopped.
Susan I am not quite sure how to make a raspberry on the keyboard but that is what the person who hit Bob's truck would get from me.Technically I guess she could be charged with Hit and Run even though she did exchange info with Bob. I bet she had no intention of paying for the damage.
OK since the Good Fairy did not come I had better go clean up the kitchen - company tomorrow and I would be mortifies if they saw the kitchen in the state that it is in.
Judy sounds like you and Steve were excellent hosts. I am so happy for you and your guests. You are going to need a week to rest up from this holiday.
Make sure you do something nice for yourselves tomorrow ladies!
Dianne
