Boy - so much going on in everyone's lives.
Beautiful idea, Betty - hope to get some Christmas stuff done before I go into my pre-Christmas slump this year LOL Thanks for the coffee - I needed it lol
Shirley - how's your day going?
So glad Nate has a job!! Yaaaay!
Hoping for rain for those in need - gentle, soaking rain, with no bad consequences. Yes, how are the stock finding food in these dry times?
I'd reply to everyone else, but we're on a new thread, and I'm lost LOL
Here's hoping for the best day for you all!!
oo ooo oooo I want one of every snowman!!!! I could do a few Christmas trees in nothing but them ^_^ soooo pretty !!!
great photo's of Chicago!!! wish I'd had more time when I was there !! butttttt I did get a few precious hours with Judy and Steve!!!
after a long night of not much sleep for either one of us......I got Hubs home about 6am yesterday!!! and we went right to bed, I think both of us were flat out in about a minute.....slept about 5 hours, and then I had to go to work.....they ended up getting another plane from somewhere??? as it turns out the plane they were supposed to get was grounded for mechanical issues !!! so glad they did so, and kept all passengers safe!!!!
so very nice to see a post from Shirley.
I have today off, gonna do some sewing (what else??)
oh yea!! Hubs brought me some awesome fabrics from Washington!!! some great Monkeys!! Malena loves monkeys...Sew it looks like she will be getting a few new quilts for Christmas!!! Also, some Eric Carle fabrics from the Hungry Caterpillar story, My Sailor loved Eric Carle stories, might have to make him a new blankie too ^_^
off to sew I go....Hope Y'all have a great rest of your day!!!
Oh Betty I just love the christmas balls.
Thunder good to hear hubs is home .
Laura, you and Thunder should live close to each other..am sure we'd hear those machines just a humming..you both are always sewing..
What was hubby doing in Washington Thunder? work?
Think tonight I'll look at what project materials I have for when Barb comes. Asked Darlene about the victorian santa's..she said there were pieces which she already took background fabric from..will check colors of paint seeing as I used up a lot of blues/white for my floormats..
Saw in a drawer this morning velvet maroon material cut to size and gathered ready to put together for Victorian Santa which we did several years ago..will make a list and go through everything making sure nothing is missing to complete some projects.. also a garden butterfly..gee whiz..so many ideas just not sure if she wants to spend a day crafting..even have a simplified floormat she could do, then add in rhubbarb cement leaves and cement birdfeeder lol lol list just goes on and on..
well, taking out my project..
so long since I've done Genesis heat set oils that I'm not even sure I remember how ..
that's ok, can call it primitive pieces
glad your DH is home again, Thunder, and you're right - better safe on the ground than taking a plane with mechanical probs!
Betty - you're sure ambitious about Christmas already! Can I borrow some of your ambition?
Hubs has three brothers that live in Washington state, he went out to visit. He doesn't work..No can do, "disabled" . very bad back and neck problems!! spine has plates and pins holding it together, and he will be needing to get some more before too long :(
(((((((((Thunder's hubs))))))))))) so sorry for your back problems!!
Hope you had a great visit with your brothers!!
I thought that Thunder and just after I posted I remembered you said he gets together with brothers..hope it was an enjoyable trip..did he get fishing in, don't men usually fish or hunt when they get together lol (alternate for us women is crafting)!!!!
Susan, last year I had over 1/2 done by this time..not doing much yet but will have to get into the mood..
Had those photo's which I took in Frankenmuth last Friday and thought I'd share
Beautiful ornaments Betty.
The farmers are having to buy hay and have it shipped in. Others are having to sell off the cattle and livestock! Pretty sad when all the fields of grass have all burned up!
Thunder, glad to hear hubby is back home safe and sound!
Well, today I learned that "not so nice people" will lie when they say they will have damage they caused to your truck looked after. The woman who hit my DH's truck said it was her aunt's van and my DH said he would do them a favour and not go through insurance. hence, he didn't take down her licence plate # or address. He did get her name, email and ph# however when we call or email, she says it's not her problem. She gave us her aunt's ph#, but when I leave a msg, no one replies, and when I called, a man answered and said it's been his wife's # for 3 years and she's not Crystal. The neice says it IS her aunt's #. I just went online and reported this "hit and run" to the police. Hopefully they can do something. The damage is between $1200 and $1722 as per 2 estimates we got.
Omg Susan, you just can't do those things..must call police, could say you did damage to truck yourselves...me thinks you just might not get truck fixed..how can you prove what went on..you two would not have any luck if it were not for bad luck!
Well, ladies I have good news and bad news. The good news is that I will not be having knee replacement surgery in Sept. Oh, I'll be having it, just not in Sept. Instead I will be having a lumpectomy in Sept.
Last years mammogram showed something and the 6 month check up made the Dr. nervous and he recommended a biopsy. Last week they did an ultra sound biopsy and it showed a small tumor in the left breast that was cancerous. I'll tell you I was far more worried about the biopsy procedure than the results since I have no history, can't feel a thing and they had a hard time even finding the little sucker, but that went very smoothly without even any pain at all. Of course, the results were a downer!
I am scheduled for the lumpectomy on Sept. 2 with 6 weeks of radiation treatments to follow. They will check the lymph nodes also and see if it has progressed that far. If so, they will remove them also.
These days they do not take any more tissue than they have to make sure the area is clear of cancer so since this things is small that should mean not much.
I was joking with Fairy104 ( my DIL) that since I have always wanted a breast reduction anyway, I could have had that, plus with reconstruction. They take from your tummy and I could have had a tummy tuck for free. I would be all in for that. Of course, I don't think she thought it was a funny as I did.
I have told all the kids and the grandkids who are of age and they are all very supportive. I am feeling good, have a positive attitude as always so this should be just one of those little bumps in the road.
I went to the fabric store yesterday and bought some fabric for a block exchange and also got some fabric for a fun Halloween quilt I am going to make while I am tied to the house with the radiation treatments. I don't think I am going to making any long trips for a while. I may even have more time to spend with you all here at DG.
Sorry I missed seeing some of you at the Reunion but as you can see, life got in the way.
I also can't believe that Jonathan will be 1 yr old next month. We are planning a big party for him. He is a doll, crawling all over the place, says "MaMa", eats everything in sight, loves Cheerios, and smiles all the time. He loves to take my glasses off and put them on his head or in his mouth. Here is one of my favorite pictures of Mr.Mr.
Janice, my heart just stopped beating, trying to find words to tell you how I feel and none will come. They say having a positive attitude is half the battle, that being so you have the battle won! Thank goodness you caught it early. Will the treatments be done in the hospital near you or will you have to travel? The kids must be frantic..knowing Stacey I'm sure she wouldn't find your joking amusing..sometimes humor is the only thing to get us through the hard times..it's either make light or cry! Big hugs and prayers coming your way...
On Thursday night stayed in same hotel we stayed in when we met..then travelled through Lansing..you were on my mind, I've missed visiting with you these past few times I've travelled..will have to make a point in doing so...
Imagine, almost a year old..he's just so adorable. Bet he's grandma's pet.
How are the kids making out with house renovations?
Looking forward to your spending time with us...missed you.
Know we are here with you in our thoughts!
Janice so sorry to hear about your surgery, but it sounds like they caught it early! We will be sending you lots of prayers for a speedy recovery.
And look at Jonathan! Hard to believe he will be one really soon!
(((((((((((((((((((((Susan))))))))))))))))))))) from Dave....My Hubs
and he says to tell Y"all Hi and let y'all know he appreciates the good thoughts, and he was glad he knew I had Y'all to keep me company while he was away. ^_^
Yes he went fishing, did more watching than fishing as the fish were to big for him to deal with, 20 pounds plus !!! salmon, and some big trout....he did get a few on his line, then handed pole to one of his brothers, or one of the nephews, just too much for him to reel in....butttttt he still had a very good time...
Betty when he gets photo's downloaded, I will steal a few to show you yard art one of his brothers makes...you will like them a lot!!!!
((((((((((((((((((((((( Janice )))))))))))))))))))))))) love and hugs, and well wishes.
Jonathan is adorable !!! My grand daughter is two today!!! they grow so fast..when you are not there everyday to see them!!!
Sending my best wishes for a successful surgery Janice. I will keep you in my prayers my friend. Norm also sends his support and says to tell you that the best thing is to stay as positive as you can. Between that and all the prayers, I'm sure things are going to be fine. Remember to take time for YOU.
Can't believe these babies are growing so fast. Of course, If I had my way, time would stand still and they would be babies forever!!!!
Janice - don't know what to say...... just when bad things happen to someone, someone else has more....... I saw something that said if everyone dumped their problems in a pile and then looked at everyone else's pile, they'd grab theirs back...
I always knew I didn't have 1/2 the problems others do, so I feel blessed. I will say prayers for those in need and Janice - you're one of those, and Sue's another, Carol's another.... my goodness, when I count my blessings, I have many. Please let me share my shoulder with any in need.
btw - as I said, I reported the accident for my DH online, but it was denied because it had to be filed in person. So, my DH (at his grumbling self) and I went to the police station, and they called the owner of the van, who realized they had to give in for the police. The police want the driver to come in, with her ID and driver's licence. They were told it wasn't a big thing, but obviously she is going to be held accountable. We just can't afford the $500 deductible right now!
Bob filled in a Police Report, and so that's that! I hope this means that their insurance company will pay for the work, either upfront, or after the fact. Just so long as we're never out-of-pocket!
Janice - I'm fairly new here but I know how much support there is here. My prayers will be with you that the surgery goes smoothly and you guilde through the radiation treatments. Are you allowed medical marijuana? I've been blessed never to need radiation but I hear the drug can help.
Beautiful baby. One year old. "Turn around and I'm two, turn around and I'm four, Turn around, I'm a young man going out of the door." Malvina Reynolds. When Jonathan is going out the door your treatment will be a vague memory.
hugs, katie
Susan what a fantastic wat to look at things..yes, regardless how bad things are there always seems to be more on someone elses plate!!
So glad Bob went and reported the incident to the police, can't ignore them!
Thunder, you are encouraging me to add yet more garden art?? Lol
Anxious to see photo's..maybe there is one of the fishes as well..did they get to eat some of the fish? Give him a nudge and tell him there is great fishing in Canada..
Thinking of all who need prayers tonight
Dropped into the car dealership after work and they told me to drop vehicle off in the morning and if they had it all day they'd check out what is wrong..I'd have to think long and hard if I needed a new engine..someone said that it could be a cracked block..not knowing much about cars other than driving them I'll have to depend on their knowledge
Off to bed I go
Waving Katie, how are you feeling today... I remember that song, that's telling our age right.
Waving back. Lots of pain. Had a nap (or passed out from pain) this afternoon and am feeling OK now.
It's still very hot and humid here so we are taking it easy. Groceries arrived from up north at my friend Saull's store so I am stocked up on essentials like brown rice, whipping cream and butter.
Dogs are fed. I'm happy.
hugs, katie
Thanks Betty - I find it's the Only way to look at life.
Bob's looking at where to fish here in Alberta - apparently it's quite the mecca for fishing.
Darn Betty - are they "seeing you coming" A new block for your car? Make sure it's what you really need, by checking with more than one car repair co. And don't tell each one what the previous one said - let them give you their opinion first.
Hiya Katie - sorry to hear of your pain - here's praying for a peaceful sleep tonight.
Hello To All !
Betty - very pretty pics ! I don't even want to think about Christmas though...the summer seems to have gone by so fast... The community college is 22 miles from the house... it's near downtown where my office is though... maybe DS and I can have lunch when he has classes...
Laura we have kids back in school here too... seems to get earlier every year... Thunder how sweet for hubs to bring you fabrics.... can just see him in the fabric store Huh !
Susan.. I was worried about you with that accident. My dad was such a stickler for calling the cops ... he once called them on my Mom when she ran into the back of him once following him... LOL.... Love your saying about troubles...
Lady - Saying prayers for your health but I'm so Proud of you for your positive attitude ! Jonathan is SO cute! Please tell Stacy to pop back on when she can.
Hugs Katie... hope you can get something for the pain....
LK - we had another heat advisory... sure you did too... so sad about the crops...
I'll pop on in a bit... ((HUGS))
Mary
PS: any news on Nate's job Deb ?
I wasn't in the truck when he got hit - his co-worker Bob was with Bob LOL
No one was hurt. Her van was worse off than Bob's truck, but neither she nor the kids in the van were hurt so, all good!!
The driver is supposed to go into the police station with her ID so I wonder what will come of that? We'll have to call the police station to see, and also our insurance company to see if her insurance company contacted ours...... When they do, and accept responsibility, then we can get the truck fixed. It really isn't that bad a "bump" on Bob's truck (lease), but because it is a lease, it's not his, so he has to get it fixed. We just can't afford to fix it when we don't have jobs!!
Evening folks!
Have been lurking, read all just couldn't seem to make myself post after DH's Chem Oncologist's apptment on Mon. Visit was most informative and helped us see how things are playing our for my guy. The Chemo Oncologist has told us that his Chemo drug of choice is off limits for DH because W had kidney failure in 2003 and this particular. The doc'schoice of drug usually causes some kidney damage. The second thing the Doc was concerned about is the facr Warren gets alot of infections and chemo leaves your body wide open for infection. So all of DH's stewing over whether to have chemo was for naught. Six weeks from now when we meet again the new xrays will show how much good the radiation did and the question of chemo will rear its head again - maybe. Palliative Care has been contacted although I really don't need them just yet, The cancer from DH's lung has spread to his skull, right shoulder and arm, rib, thorax/chest and his hips. So please forgive me if I don't post, am a little overwhelmed - will read everyday so I can keep up on all your antics.
(((Janice)))
