Really pretty....my crape died this spring!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

There is this GORGEOUS crape around the corner from my sil's house, she had asked the lady what she does...every spring she prunes the entire top off...I need to get a pic of it.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

does that make more blooms?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Supposedly-
hers is full and completely loaded with blooms

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I have seen some goofy looking ones around.. all bent over and lanky

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yeah, they get top heavy I've noticed that with mine after the rain...I'll be pruning mine back this spring

Thomaston, CT

We had one in our FL yard.....we'd never get to see it blooming, but every spring I'd cut it way down....our friends said it looked nice!

Jen I had a young Joe Pye Weed plant that looked just like that. Now a couple years later it is at least 7' tall and has Huge flower heads. I'd give it a chance if I was you :) The one I have I grew from seeds from Prairie oon Nursery and they were labelled E. purpureum, it is kinda light mauve up close but looks kinda white from a distance. When it was young it looked pretty much copletely white.

Pretty! Love MG's, I have very few this year. Chippies or something kept eating my seedlings!!!

hummers like mg's = long throat

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yes, they do. Luckily I had my tropical hibiscus outside and they made good use of those too.
