I bet.. I would like to see them someday
Garden Photos # 17
I got some good tips from Marilyn on planting Glads and Iris.
Thanks to all who complimented me on my pics.
Thanks for the ID on the Scaveola, Allison. I knew it, but couldn't recall it. I had a feeling your weed was some kind of amaranth. Now that you posted that link, I can see that's what I have in my gardens, too, rather than the Amaranthus powellii that I first thought it might be. A. retroflexus is edible, and there's a vegetable variety that is popular in Western India and China: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/64309/
Meredith, I have been using an aged cow manure that I get from a local dairy. They deliver a truckload for $85, and it's a nice rich brown that the worms just love. Doubles as a fertilizer and mulch, as there are no weed seeds in it. I just put it on top. Eventually it will give me nice rich soil, though I'm blessed here with good soil in most parts of the yard anyhow.
Celeste, my Real Wind never goes nuts, as it gets a little too much shade where it's at. I should move it. I have several in that bed that need moving. I love those Turk's Cap lilies. Would love to get some someday. I love the deep purple color on that BB that you got from the RU. Nice lily album!
Debi, nice to see you back! I know how tough it is too keep up with threads when you get busy.
Jo, you have some great color in the woodpile garden with all those coleus and caladiums in there. Very nice! Love the slide show. Glad to hear you and Marilyn had such a nice visit.
Jen, that woman must spend a ton every year on annuals if she doesn't start from seed. Can't imagine. Would be nice to have that kind of money.
Karen
At 2 different houses in 2 towns in the same day I saw a shrub with softball size white snowball flowers trained into a standard...what was it???

It IS fun to see the differences in all the DL blooms. So many beautiful blooms on this thread!
Yep, guess Pee Gee is probably it, THANKS!!!!
Very pretty DLs, Rosemary.....
Thanks.
Thanks Karen, I could check into Shaw's farms, maybe they do that.
Love all the photos, esp the red-white-blue combo, and the rose.
Yes, the red-white-blue turned out great!
Very nice! If those blue flowers are new, maybe they'll bloom earlier next year. They look a lot like some I have that bloom early July. They flower first year from seed and I do have a few little 1st year plants blooming now.
Those are blue butterfly delphinium, they did bloom earlier this is a rebloom
love them all RD.. Randy would love your hosta!
Nice daylilies Rosemary. :)
Jen your red, white and blue is really nice, so is the rose and that mum is gorgeous!
Love those dahlia's Robin!
Robin do you have this glad? If yes, what is the name please. Is it 'Vista"?
It's one of the ones that has stayed in the garden thru 2 Maine winters!
