Thunder, it wouldn't do for the 2 of us to be together with ice cream! LOL I am the same way....take off lid, get spoon. Stop when container is empty.
♥Sweet Interruptions♥ 224
Jaye, the prices of homes in Southern California are still very high and so many people have lost their homes in foreclosure. Hope things go well for you and Doug, Cindy. Mmmm maybe I should move to the northern part of the state.
Cindy - that house is awesome! A house like that, in Calgary, would be closer to the $1M mark, as it has an outdoor swimming pool it says! And under 1/2 acre as well, so it's a large lot!
With a regular lot and no swimming pool, it would still be closer to $500,000
(((((((((((((((((Sue)))))))))))))))) Awesome news there sistah!! Baby steps, baby steps. You both are at a fragile state but love will be the best glue.
Keep talking.. have that door open. Ears are meant for listening too.
Lolol Thunder.. Marion... I'm a glut when it comes to pistachio ice cream. Fortunately there's none that's sugar free so I avoid that at all costs!
These cookies are something that can't be found here and Mum used to make them. I was crying while I stuffing my mouth!!
Thank God I have a good supply of toilet paper.
Pegi, if you need to move anywhere, you need to move to somewhere with more space for gardening!!!
Susan, if you were to take advantage of N. Ca cheaper housing, you'd lose on your med. care!
Think...
Cindy, be prepared that the VA housing inspectors are very strict.
It's still a lovely house.
Morning everyone! Jaye there are sugar free ice creams, but I have never seen the pistachio sugar free.
Sue, glad to hear you guys are talking things out.
We went to Wal Mart yesterday and bought a patio set for the front porch! Assembly required is what it said on the box!!! Boy was that a pain in the BUTT!!!! None of the holes matched up, so there was a lot of bending and tweaking pieces to get them together!
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Crossman-4-Piece-Conversation-Set/15443777
Jaye we have a tarp on the roof for now. Waiting on supplies to be delivered from the lumber yard. Should be Monday...
Sue - I once heard that the key to a successful marriage is to fall in love again and again with the same person. Of course that means you also fall out of love with that person again and again....
As Jaye said - "baby steps, baby steps.....
LK - hope your roof gets repaired same day as delivery of lumber!!
Sue, good to hear there is a line of communication. Sadly, so many times there isn't! Sending hugs..big ones at that!
Jaye, I don't buy ice cream anymore as it would just not be fair to Kim--her weakness also. She is doing so great (sorry but I am so proud of her accomplishments with the diabetes) and there is no way I would tempt her. I sneak (LOL) ice cream when I go to my sisters. Bad Mom, I know.
Everyone have a great day.
LK, that's a gorgeous set! All you need is 'conversations' that will last through the rainless nights!
You go gurl!
You should be proud of Kim, MaidM. We all are. It's not an easy feat sticking to any diet. Tell Kim that she won't be needing any insulin shots to regulate her #s. My pancreas isn't producing enough insulin, but it wasn't till I turn 50 when I needed insulin. I pray that Kim's pancreas remains normal and that there there will be a cure for diabetes.
Thanks Jaye, prayers here also for a cure.....as well as strides for a cure for prostate cancer!!!
Her doctor keeps a very close check on everything so far, so good. Yes, it is extremely tough but ........
Been a "yucky" day for us..neither one feels really great so just trying to stay clear of each other. LOL
It's been a mixed evening yesterday for me too Maid M..
Kel and I were at each other's throat! He was expecting a day of rest after WM shopping for he'd be having a tough day today at school, but instead he had to spend the rest of yesterday knee deep in muck fixing his mother's sewage line.
For those that don't know the story.. this is the only son who'd do all for his parents..but treated like crap!!
When he came home, he took his anger out on me. Wrong thing to do!
I won't go into details what I told him, but at the end, I warned him never to raise his voice at me if he can't tell his mother how he feel!
Is it wrong for me NOT to want to go to either of his parents' funeral should the time come? Kel was apalled, and said he'd be needing my support.
Do you attend a stranger's funeral? Of course not.. so why should I when they have treated me like an unwelcome stranger instead of family.
I know, as a Christian I'm supposed to forgive their trespasses.. well.. I did.. but I had to release them to Him for my sanity's sake.
Yes, sistahs, now you know, Jaye can be a *itch!! Lol!!
Light is almost here. Better start early with my chores so I can get back to bed.
Hope your day is good today.
Jaye, I think there is a little *itch in all of us and when pushed to the absolute limit it surfaces. I only wish there was something I could say or do to help you and Kel, you two are just to cute together (and yes, love showed when I met you at BJ's) to have an issue like that. I can relate on some level but only where my DIL is concerned. Thank goodness prayers work and now she is truly my daughter too!
Hang in there please.
Aw Jaye so sorry Kel took his frustration out on you. Yup I know how that is. My late hubby took care of his father for awhile when he was sick. I was the one who he yelled at all the time instead of his mom whom was perfectly capable of taking care of HER husband but nooooooooooo the brattie grandkids came first. Like you I jumped in his face!!!!
Here is a link to pictures from our Biker B-day Bash. My hair looked good when we first got there but after dancing so much and sweating it kinda got limp, lol. Oh well we had a blast!!!
http://s970.photobucket.com/albums/ae182/purpbutfly/
today is kadens first day of kindergarten. he is mad at me and his mom. said if we left him there he would call the cops. teacher said my husband is a police officer. do you want to call him
Awe Sis, they all are scared for the first day in school, but I bet once you left, and he met all the their kids, he is having a great time. When he gets home this afternoon, he will tell you all about it!
Jaye, sorry your still going in circles with MIL! Your right to put your foot down, and tell him that!
Cindy, looks like you ll had a great time!
Kathy, that is just to funny! It will be interesting to hear all his stories tonight. LOL
awww Jaye - you sound like you need a hug!!!! ((((((((((((((((Jaye)))))))))))))))
Tried to call, but guess you were in the garden.......
Going to be a hot day, had planned on getting out in back early before the sun came out but that didn't happen.
Got an e-mail from my friend in Minnesota saying her grandson who is going to college here in California will graduate next June and the whole family plans to come out, including her. We will get to spend a day together.......guess I should start now to cleaning up and getting the painting done. Believe me it is going to take that long for me to accomplish the job.
LOL Pegi - sounds like you have your life planned until the end of next June LOL
Then, can you come do my place? It's going to take as long as that, too!!! LOL
Kaden got me laughing!!! Smart teacher sis.
I remember my mum telling my younger brother who was 5 at that time, when he wanted to 'run' away from home, she'd pack a bag for him and a tupperware of fried rice in case he got hungry.
That stopped him :))
Cindy, enjoy yourself while you can still ride a bike!!!! God, I wish Kel has a bike.
Seen some of your pics on FB. Looks like you had great friends too.
Thank you sistahs for the words and hugs of comfort. I'm feeling better.
Marion, we are like a pair of popsicles you mean?? One vanilla, the other chocolate?? Lolol!!! We do get along famously, but in every relationship there's the thorn. Nothing is perfect. I'll put up with his parents.
With my ex, my late in-laws treated me as a daughter. Of course, their son was Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Pegi, you sound like me!! When my sister gave us 6 months notice that she and her kids were coming, Kel started to get this house ready immediately!! Poor man did all that for 4 months till I got back from Houston.
Sorry I wasn't around when you call, Susan. I had to take care of the four legged kids.
Sure could use some laughter!
ok - we're laughing now!!!
Yep. yep. yep!!
when he threatens to run away, i give him a pillow case with an apple and 50 cents to buy a drink.
he don't like that
Now how considerate of you Sis!! Lolol. You certainly have a handful with Kaden..100% boy and a mouth too.
Goodness, at least he got plenty of adults at your place to give him continous attention.
So.. how was his first day? Did he make any new friends?
Good morning precious sistahs.
It's a beautiful day today and the temps have somehow ease off to mid 90s.
Hot but tolerable.
Toasts, marmalade and side of bacon to go with your coffee.
Did the lumber yard deliver yesterday LK?
Hope the weather co-operates for you.
Maid M., when will you be going to your Mum's? Have you tried to get her some audio books.. maybe that will occupy her mind.
Have a good day everyone, at home or at work.
Yep, all the parts are here, and I am putting my sone to work when he wakes up. Up on the roof he will go!
Morning everyone. Thanks for the breakfast Jaye.
That's what sons are for!!! But you're a very appreciative Mama and I'm sure he won't mind doing it.
To funny Kathy! First day stories please.
Ah LK, isn't it nice to have sons? Well, if I could just get mine busy again to finish up my sewing area. Right now he is super busy with his "paying" job so I guess I shouldn't complain...Oh yes it will, I am Mom!!!!
Jaye, had planned to go tomorrow but had some things come up that needs my attention. If all goes as planned I will go the 22nd and return the 29 or 30th. Of course this depends on the tropics and what is going on there also. We have tried audio books and just about every thing we can think of...nope she refused. She only wants to eat and sleep. My sister told me last night that Mom's right arm is now totally atrophied. I hate to hear that but it doesn't come as a surprise...she just won't exercise or try to move it.
Hope all are doing well today...low humidity (ah must be nice), cooler temps and rain if you need it!
Oh Marion, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom's arm. Does it hurt her to move it? Maybe that's why she won't. And I hope she is left handed!!!!
I keep her in my prayers all the time....
I missed the party!!! Wow.. either DG needs a new server or better technical experts. Slept away the afternoon. Body needed the rest so I didn't miss much.
(((((((Marion))))))) Sorry to read your mum's in that state of mind.
Perhaps she'd perk up when she sees you. How about a blow up pic of her movie hero.. might bring back her humor.
The nurses there should have exercised her limbs every few hours to prevent any atrophy... my opinion.
Barb, you must be more than ready for that big trip.
Going to bed again.. sigh.. it's as though I need more rest..
Barb, yes she was having pain but her solution was to not move it at all. Well you know what happens next.
Jaye, I could go on for hours, days, weeks and months even about WHAT they should be doing for what the bill is but alas what they should do and what they will do are about as far apart as they can be. The CNAs could care less..really is sad. My sister is now known as the "Pit Bull" as she is constantly asking why this, why that, but the rules say........yada, yada, yada. The situation in facilities is nothing short of elder abuse!!!! If there were any way my sister and I could care for her we would have her home in a blink of the eye. Just not possible.
Unfortunately most are all the same with their care. I don't mean to sound morbid or rather Kim doesn't but Kim's statement is: "It's not like they have to worry about repeat business, not is it?" Sad to say but the attitude really does prevail in that area. OFF MY SOAP BOX!! Sorry don't mean to shout but ............
Shout away, Marion, shout away. We all have our own private Soap Boxes (I've been known to use several at once!) and you deserve to shout whenever you wish.
I agree with Kim - no repeat business, so "who cares?!"
Marion i agree with you on the elder abuse.
when my auntie was in the home. she was 88 yrs old and she was given Ambilify ? (sp) well that is an antiphycotic also . oh lord i just couldn't understand that one ? they just doped her up so she would'nt hurt anyone on the staff. She was a bit nasty in her dementia stages but my goodness. Like the staff can't outrun an 88 yr old woman or move swiftly away out of harms way ? serioulsy what damage can be done with a plastic knife ? or a lipstick ... duh.... ? !!!
i pray for you and your mom.
i wish hospice could come to your home instead. but i do understand that is not covered by insurance ? nor is it cheap .... sad . :(
praying for you sistah.
kaden said they made him sleep there, and he didn't like that. he is no baby, and don.t need no nap! he made new friends, but they don't have a 4 wheeler.
he did get 2 stickers for good behavior. i cringe when the phone rings. i'm waiting for that phone call that says:
kaden told his teacher don't talk to him. if and when i get that call, i will lock myself in the closet
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready! Hope the weather is nice for all of you!
morning sis
I've heard enough real horror stories, that when my turn comes, God be kind enough to give me dementia.
Shout all you want here Marion. Kim is right. Nothing to worry about especially when there's a long waiting list.
Sis Kathy, too funny!!!
That teacher must have a "Kaden" every year and would know how to handle him!
Anyone heard from Cookie?
LK, how's the roof job getting along?
Nothing much to report here, slept most of the day yesterday so didn't miss DG at all!
Hoping to sew or cut something today. Wish one of you live closeby to keep me happily occupied. Nothing like yakking while working!
Arrrrggghhh my kitties are playing football with their empty bowls. Yep, dogs aren't the only critters that do that!
Time to feed the zoo.
Have a wonderful day!
Morning, I bet you enjoy your quiet days now?
I remember when I sent my kids off to school for their first day! Kind of jittery, but it all worked out.
Thanks for making coffee LK.
Roof is almost done!
Sure wish I was closer to come over for a chat too! Someday I will get over there!
That would be nice!! Or we can all meet at Sis Kathy's place and watch Kaden in action!! Lol!!
Won't you be going to Betty's next year LK? I know Sis Kathy would not leave the country.
It would be nice to see everyone at one place.
