Goodness, LK, you're fast to ask!!!
Yah, Sue.. if you have left overs with the brownies.. you got my addy too :P
Congrats Savannah!! We are so proud of you and may you win more!

Thunder, I hate those 'expandable' shift work. Your sleep pattern is erratic and worst, no sleep at all. You take care sistah!

Time for me to get busy today but too lazy. No watering as the rains pourrrrrrr... I can hear the grounds belching this morning!

LK? do you know what's causing the headaches? Hope it's not your bp, might be sinus/allergy affected or maybe too much Julio's seasoning? Perhaps you played too long on FB and just looking at the monitor for hours besides straining your eyes, wrinkling your forehead more may also give you a headache!!! If you still got it, go shopping!!! That cures anything!!

Congrats on First Place, Savannah!!
LK - hope you find out what's causing the headaches.
yummmmmmmmy brownies - I'd say I'd help eat 'em too, but I'm sincerely trying to cut back - want my knee full strength in the winter! Camping sure helped for the week 1/2 I went - maybe some of it was due to "no stairs"! And Bob & I now realize standing for any length of time hurts, so he isn't asking me to do that anymore! I gotta either sit, or keep moving!! And I do like keeping on the move lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the new room Jaye.
I got a new pair of glasses Thursday, and they are a lot stronger than my last ones, so it is going to take time to get used to! That's what I get for waiting so long between eye check ups! But I got two pair of glasses for the price of one!!!

Jaye, if you get any extra rain, send some this way please?

Susan, I too have heard to keep moving to keep the pain away. My problem is the get moving part. Sometimes it is so hard to get going.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Keeping moving keeps the joints "oiled" I use glucosemine, too - that, and fish/flax oil all help.

Psst.. sistah Linda Kay.. it's Austin!!!

Yayyyy for Savannah.. Yayyy for Mama Sue!!
reserving Yaaayyyy for Austin

Yah, glucosomine helps my joints too Susan, until I stop taking them. I take the sugar free chocolate chews available at WM. We're just not getting any younger!!

Eye problems can do that, LK. Don't overwork your eyes sistah, and definitely no working in the dark for awhile :)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry Jaye, don't know where I got that name from!!!

LOL Lk
well our baked goods were a bust ! i don't get it ? they didn't even try some of the entries ? it looked as if they just threw them in a pile.
My black raspberry got nothing !! they didn't even taste them ? ! no explanation . i m pretty upset about it too
garlic jelly got second place. hooray.
austin was pretty bummed about his brownies :(
i wanted to stay for the judgeing but noooooooooooooo..... Tim wanted to go home. next year he is just going to have to deal with it
got some great deals on some plants
so we are pretty tired.
bbl
ps Cookie called me and said she got the stitches out and DR.Dreamy Cutie Pie says" she is doing the best i have ever seen for someone with this kind of injury" so all is good with her.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Bummer on the judging! I would be mad too!

Thanks for the update on Cookie, so glad to hear she is healing quickly! Maybe it has something to do with the Dr. Dreamy Cutie Pie???

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Yaaaaaay for applesauce and Benny, Boooooo on the judging!! (Feel badly for you Austin!)
Yaaaaaaaaay that Cookie's healing so well!!

good morning
i m not doing so good this morning. Just plain old PMS attacking. i hate that. So i have the grumpys :(
thanks for the good words on our winnings and loosing some LOLLL. we will be so better next year !!
i already have our plan of attack set up for next year .

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good Morning!!
Nothing wrong with Cookie except for her leg!! She still has her wits around her, maybe Dr. Dreamy do house calls? I would be healing fast too!

Sue, seems that the judges had become jaded. I would certainly complain to the committee or incite a revolution!! We'll be glad to taste your raspberry jelly for you.
Sorry sistah.. I feel so bad for Austin. At least he gets to shine in his karate class..tell him that.
Oh dear.. PMS.. welcome home Tim.. you should be in familiar grounds there :D

LK, how's your headaches? Hope you got some sleep last night.

Except for Susan, are any of you having problems with pesky pests in your garden this year?
The grasshoppers are once again ravaging my babies. Used Bayers.. Neem Oil.. even something for roaches!!! They just feed through them!! Short of picking them, which is impossible unlike Japanese Beetles.. I about to give up on controlling them!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

No pesky bugs here Jaye. Not much for them to munch on!

But I do have this pretty I picked up last week, when I took the boys back home!

Pretty variegated purple Bougainvillea.

Whadda ya mean, "except for Susan"? One neighbour told me aphids destroyed his garden, and today I found what might be carpenter ants chewing on the rotted boards in our deck.....
Mosquitos are miserable this year, too. btw - apparently the hail destroyed 50% of my veggie garden at Marlene's - will have to pop over to have a look at the damage...... the rhubarb's been flattened, but the tomatoes are fine, the radichio and lettuce is pretty hammered, too. Well, the potato plants are doing well apparently (not that potatoes are above ground anyway LOL)

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

ROFLOL at Cookies statement. I found out at BJs we both appreciated really good eye candy. We were on our way back from the rose garden tour when I saw a beautiful horse in a field with a trainer. Make a comment about the horse only to have Cookie shoot back at me: "the trainer wasn't bad either!". Me? I hadn't even noticed the trainer--I pay much better attention to all things now!!

Cookie, please take care and continue the good work--not so fast you have to cut short the visits with Dr. McDreamy. LOL

Sue so sorry about all the disappointments. Hang in there.

LK beautiful plants. I don't have anything in bloom at the moment--getting really dry again. We need some rain. I did find some Siam Tulips (Curcuma alismatiflia) the other day but haven't gotten their home ready yet. I just can't work in this heat like I did 20- 30 year ago.

Having a quiet day today...would have been mine and Ross' 51st anniversary. Shucks still is as the wonderful memories are right here with me.

Take care all.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

rebuilding our rotted deck, spray sealing our tent, and generally snapping at each other LOL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan. You may have termites if they are chewing the wood. Make sure you spray for them so they don't get the rest of the wood!

Marion, enjoy those memories you have of you and Ross.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Susan, are you sure its not termites eating your wood??!!! they look a lot like ants!!! sure hope not

I think it is too hot here for the critters!!! Jaye. we had tons of little grasshoppers, just before it got really hot...then we got the heat wave!! and I think it killed a lot of them, as I am not seeing much of the usual "eaten" leaves damage.... I am talking 3-4 inch long grasshoppers, that start out about a 1/4 inch in size , saw lots of babies, but not seeing the adults.

back from fair
nasty storms are hitting us at the moment
will be back later to chat
ringing in my ears is extra loud ? i hate that.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

LK we do se doed....

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((marion))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

for those of you who meet and or know Ric and Robyn aka Henry10
They're beloved pet Shar Pei died last night. She was 11 yrs old.
Please keep them in your thoughts.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I've met Henry - yes, I'll keep them in my thoughts.....

Dunno what it is, but we have a lot of chewn leaves on shrubs and plants. Of course then the hail got the trees but didn't damage much in my yard - just left a mess of leaves lol

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

No grasshoppers here Thunder but oh did we have a plague of carpenter bees during the late spring. They chewed a huge hole in my cedar mailbox and anything else we hadn't treated. I don't think I have ever been bothered by these critters before but now...........

Thunder rumbling in the distance but no sign of rain so far. Plants are really suffering today.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

The deck is 6 or 7 years old, and was never treated when it was built. We are treating it once it's power washed. We're also changing out the front fence and gate as they're warping. Also, the previous owner started to cut down some fence boards to make some kind of pattern (straight cut, just different lengths) - no rhymn or pattern. Everyone remarks on it and says it looks strange. I want it to be the same length for all boards, not 10 out of 26 randomly cut.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thunder, I think those are locust's not grasshoppers. They will eat your plants down to nothing!
Susan, show us your deck when it is done? Sounds like it is going to be nice when finished!
Sue, do you have high blood pressure? That will make your ears ring.

hmmm i don't know LK i will check into it . I think its mostly from my jaw line is out of whack and i have that TMJ .
well tonight is pizza night. thank goodness !

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Ouch, that sounds painful! Is there anything they can do for it?

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

LK it is grass hoppers they are called Lubbers...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Never heard of them? They are huge!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LK - the deck isn't going to be wonderful - just a 16' x 19' rectangle. The fact that it's going to be new boards and safer (treating the wood) is wonderful. Even the fence is going to be unremarkable - straight boards side by side. I like sitting out on the deck when it gets evening and starts to cool, to read a book, or in the am having my morning coffee. I have plants in various stages growing and right now several of them have been knocked about by the hail.
The repair of the deck means more to me than to anyone else, I'm sure.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thunder, are they the ones also know as tobacco spitters?

good morning.
i
just woke up
we are heading to fair again to support our friends who are doing sheep.
tomorrow Tim and leave for Cleavland to do a get together with some garden people i do business with. Short trip though.
bbl

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning! Have a good day.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Good morning, Sue and everyone else who's popped in!!!
Ready to start the first of the week - sort out sewing room, housework, etc
also sending out resumes, and hoping to hear about interviews....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Sue I am so sorry you're baked goods didn't even get tasted! What's up with that???? However, YAY to the applesauce and other stuff you said that I can't remember.

Susan you probably do have carpenter ants or those very very small black wood ants, or both. We have them all over down here, Carpenter ants are big black ants with a white band around their abdomen, the small wood ants are pure black and very very small.

We're all in this stupid heat stuff, my EE's are wilting and they're too far away from any hose to get to them, they've never wilted in the 3 1/2 years I've been living there.

Well I'm going to go to lunch so I'll see y'all in an hour or so!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

If I had to decide/choose, Crissy - I guess we'd have the black wood ants. They don't look quite the same as the regular ants, but they're decidedly black.

I can't believe it - I just got a call from a secretary at my old company, asking me about purchasing lanyards! Apparently there is finally a new secretary taking over my old job (as of 1 week ago) and no one can find the copy of the purchase req I created in May .......... I really don't need this, 2 months after they fired me!!!!!!!!!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Susan girl that's not your problem!! OMG! Your ants may be different than my ants too, you should look up wood ants in your area online.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I will google wood ants, thanks Crissy.

btw - I emailed an invoice to HR for two hours work (nothing to sneeze at!) and she replied that she didn't know how it would be paid. She's brought it to my ex-boss and is going to see what can be done. Also will see that I am no longer contacted as it IS a privacy breach.
I told her to use the Consulting Fees account, and they would have discretionary use of it. It isn't like it's even a hundred $, so should be easy. I will even add a codicil that if I am not contacted, that I would not invoice again and this would be the end.
