Thanks LindaKay, couldn't figure out why she was there..looked a bit out of place
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends...
Had to come back with this one...
No apartment building on lakefront allowed..apparently when application went in to build this building there was a legal catch...laws all stated no residential building allowed on waterfront land..what they didn't catch was this jutty was land filled from cleaning beaches so was man made and not land in it's natural..they built it but as document was signed allowing them to another document made sure it would never happen again..one of a kind in Chicago
Chicago has a lot of old buildings and lots of history.
Now the photo's of me and my young men/our dinner on 96th floor are at home on main disk..thought I had downloaded them here as well, will go see and if not I'll post them tonight
Liz was the chattiest, hard to see her without her gabbing on the telephone....we managed to have her turn our way..lol
Stands to reason though her losing Rainey and having her sister looking after her other pooch who is mourning Rainey's loss..
Hard week for sure

Fabulous time, you had, Betty!! Wish I had been able to join you ......
Oh Betty LOVE The tour... Thank you ! ((HUGS))) Shirley... thank you for stopping in...
I'll pop back in a bit...
Mary
Just back home from the Jazz guitar lessons. Shane loved it and is a fast learner!
Some good news, Nate got a call on a job. Getting working papers in order and hopefully will know by Friday afternoon!
AND "The child" made dinner tonight. Something easy...but a big help. She cooks meatballs and makes this sauce from chili sauce and grape jelly....lets it cook in crockpot. IT is soooo good!
Need a little snack...will be back
Debbie
Good News X 3 Debbie ! So glad to hear it ! Shane will learn quickly I'm sure since he is so interested in it... Nate ought to have his head high today... quick potential job in a tough economy...
And "The child" is helping out ! I'm so glad for you!
Mom used to make those meatballs for parties... I've never tried to make them (but I need to) but Mom used currant jelly. I don't even know what currants are LOL...but they are delicious... (the meatballs)
So happy for you !
((HUGS))
Mary
Thanks Mary...and I even gave the dog a bath! rofl. Well, she pretty much gave me a bath also...but it was a team effort.
I have a bit of running to do tomorrow, but I am really thinking ahead....about a nap! lol
Debbie, sounds like your all having a good day!
Linda, shhhhh don't say it too loud....the forces that be will put a stop to that quick.
I think focusing on Nate and helping him, has helped me look past the other things going on and concentrate. AND maybe help my kids see....they could have it a lot worse!
Hello All;
Waving to LK... hope you get some heat relief ! (US Too !)
Deb... I remember when I got so darn fed up with DSD's... was when I started volunteering for the Band and it seemed for every dollar, hour or idea I spent with those very needy, very appreciative kids... I was SO Much better able to deal with the other situation.
It's been a weird day. DS and I were up at Community College at 9am to get him registered. By 2pm after many lines and starving to death (neither had breakfast) we finally sat down for lunch and he is REGISTERED!
Now onward to just worrying about him attending class, grades, paying back some debt he owes... etc etc etc.
Then I was behind at work... then when I got home went ballistic about the mess... then DH and I went for a walk and when we got back... found out an acquaintance of mine has passed away. Donnita and I did the Cheer Mom thing together... it was the 2 of us.... remember her helping at my house prepare the girls for a parade... sitting with her at Pep Rallies... she was a kind woman always thought the perfect kids... Cheer Captain and Football/BBall star son. How sad.
I don't really know what happened she had surgery of some kind... I'll have to check the local paper.
I was just about to tell you all that my whooping cough was miraculously cured as of Monday... but then had an episode after my walk.... so maybe stress from news of my friend or heated from the walk.....I don't know....
((HUGS))
Mary
(((Mary)))) So very sorry to hear about your friend passing. Way to young for any of that!
Glad to hear DS is registered and all the fun. We have to call Friday about books...oh joy!
Morning all, coffee is on and fruit cocktail waiting for you!
Debbie, smiled as I read about your day, seems the kids have realized just how lucky they are to a loving home and caring parents! Exciting about Nate possibly getting employment..Lord works in mysterious ways, Nate has been sent to you for a reason!
Mary, bet you gave out a sigh of relief once DS was registered..area school or is there commuting? Hugs dear friend, emotional time losing a friend and young one at that.
Bev, how are you doing sweetie?
Laura, omg your kids start school so early..ours not till after Labour day in September..another 3 weeks.
Dianne, thinking of you both this morning..
Weather is drab , could be another rainy day. Not complaining though...hoping the sunshine arrives for the weekend, lots of garden clean up to be done.
LindaKay, you would think by now you'd have a break in the weather..feel for all the farmers!
Looking at the clock, should get a move on, gab later
Mary so sorry to hear about your friend.
Debbie wow Nate a job that quick bet he is tickled. And dinner cooked for you.
Shane must be so proud. He sounds like he is a talented young man.
Shirley so good to hear from you and that you have famliy around.
Betty going through the pictures was a real treat. Looks like fun was had all around.
Yep kids in school. The other schools do not start until the 24th of Aug.
Trying to finish a quilt for my sister before I go down to see her.
To all have a good day.
Coffee was good Betty.
Morning everyone! Thanks for the breakfast Betty.
You would think we would get a break soon. Maybe if everyone does the rain dance together??? All the farmers are devastated here. All crops are burned, unless they spend a fortune on a watering system!
LindaKay, how on earth are they feeding all the animals who normally eat on the range??
Starting to see all our fruit/veggies on the highway stands, not overly expensive as I would have though considering the dry conditions.
Made appt. for my car for Monday but if I do work tomorrow I'll see if they can do it then. Was going to work from home but our new scanner/fax/printer/copy machine which is only 3 weeks old is on the blink..seems the eye that visually copies is not working so a new one is being shipped, waiting for confirmation as to if it's tomorrow or on Monday..that will determine what I will be doing.
Have to come in tomorrow, delivering our new scanner/copier sometime during the day..called to see if they could bump up my appt. for my car but no go.
It's ok though, I had set 3 panels I was painting for washroom closet door seeing as a friend put it up, cut out hole for the doorknob only to find out it hit against the washroom door so I thought I'd get creative and do 3 trompe l'oeil panels...now that's about 2 years ago..have one done, one 1/2 done and one not touched or sketched..so today I brought in the 1/2 done panel and might play this afternoon..it would be great to finish it and start on 3rd panel so I can purchase the trim and cut it for the framework
All caught up on what needs to be done here in the office so PLAYTIME it is...
