(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

well I was happy that we were getting the rain......was happy...not so much now...DH was supposed to be flying in about now!!!! butttttt the plane that is supposed to pick him up in memphis,,,,is grounded in florida!!! severe weather, now he wont be getting home till about 6 am!!! sucks.....

so I have to try to go to sleep, so I can get up to go get him for 6 am, and hope there are no other delays?? complications to change the flights//????

I don't know if I want to cry scream, or laugh???!!!!!!

gonna try to sleep?? yup....

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Thunder. Well, look at it this way. He is on the ground....safe....and not flying in bad weather. That would scare me more than the inconvenience of having the flights changed.

It has been busy here, and fun also. Nate seems to have settled in well, and for the first time in a LONG time...he is laughing a lot...and wearing a smile. Even his "facebook" posts seem so much more positive. Took him to pick out a set of sheets for the bed.....I only had a set of hot pink ones, and it is bad enough the room is purple! LOL I think we might pick out a paint this next week maybe.

Well, DD went to traffic court. They nailed her! Could have been much worse, but she got 2 points on her license....and a $160 fine. She said EVERYONE there got points and a fine...there was NO bargaining or pleading down.

Mary, how are plans for the party....getting set?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thunder - I always say to "be careful what you wish for......" Well, at least he's getting in at 6am, and not missing the trip in at all!!
Debbie - aren't you just a little bit glad she was "nailed"? lol I know you love your DD, but well.....
Instead of purple, what would you paint Nate's room? Single colour, or pattern, or wallpaper? (wallpaper's coming back in, y'know!)

mulege, Mexico

You can google "brown bagging". Wuvie, who is often on the Trash to Treasure forum has it on her website and there are threads on it at the the T to T forum. All will probably com up if you google it. It is a great way to cover concrete block walls, or walls that are damaged. Looks good and can be done a part at a time.

I did enough of the second wall to put back the shelves that are in the middle of the bedroom.

Probably won't get much more done until my painkillers arrive. But I can sort and stack fabric and sort out more for Tony's family.

hugs, katie

Lyndonville, NY

Oh I did brown bagging years ago!! It is popular...and I actually talked the doctors office into doing it.....and they did! Had it professionally done, and love it!

I told Nate it was HIS choice....long as it wasn't black. Its paint...its an easy change. I don't think this child has had many choices in his life.

I love wallpaper...but I am the one to do it, and I don't know if I can with my arm. Will see what Nate thinks and comes up with.

Oh Susan....just aske Crissy how I was praying for that. I had sent her a note this morning saying I hope they somewhat nailed her to the wall....without it being really bad...but to teach her a lesson. SHE soooooo needed that from an authority figure!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Katie, I have seen that done on the trash to treasure thread! It looks nice!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, did you ever get hubbies truck fixed? Did that come through with payment?

Lyndonville, NY

Ok what I was thinking was NOT the brown bagging you are talking about. You paint the wall....and use either rags or brown bags...wadd them up and "blot" the walls. IT pulls off some of the paints and leaves designs and shades. It lookes pretty nice. Not the same as you are talking about.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello My Beautiful Night Shift !

Susan - that'swhat I was thinking ! Sometimes the kids gotta know we're not just telling them this and that for our health!

I'd considered teh cement stain for my living room floor but might be too old a house for it to look right.....(re the brown bagging it)

Well Deb.... I just checked the Face book invitation she sent to 90 ppl.... unfortunately she messed up and accidentally sent to me. 32 are "yes" and 18 are "Maybe".

Talked to MIL today and she verified she would be here with FIL. Hubs invited a few other adults.... so far it seems we are in the "10 to 1" ratio Betty recommended. As long as MIL/FIL are here... I'll be here....

I showed my attitude.. MIL asked if she could bring something and I said "it's not my party" told her to talk to DSD. I won't be here Sat to clean or help. I have a Hibiscus meeting that I must attend.... ROFLOL !

It's the "S*X in your Garden" hibby meeting and we are going to learn to hybridize. LOL

Deb - is this the "room" that Shane was "moving" into earlier ? DS has silver walls.... loves them....

Lyndonville, NY

Yes Mary, this is "that room". The one he took the bed out of and moved to the attic and moved all of his guitars in and set up DH's stereo & computer for transferring albums onto CDs and such.

When all this was transpiring...before I made ANY decisions...I went down and talked to Shane. Told him what was happening and what should we do? He said it was OK with him and move Nate in, he is the ONLY one he would agree too. AND when he came home from work helped set up the bed and helped with everything.

Tonight, Shane wanted to go to a friends house....and I said "what about Nate?" He said "He lives here...he has to get used to it...he is going to go places too." He was right. Nate is set, and feels very comfortable.

Good morning, fresh brewed coffee and zucchini chocolade cake are on the table for everyone to enjoy.

Betty your trip sounds like so much fun and can`t wait to hear the details about the "eye candies" you encountered!! Btw WHERE are you!! You last posted early yesterday morning...don`t make us worry!!

We finally had rain yesterday, so hopefully my garden can recover from the dry spell we had for weeks.

Counting the days until I get to see Barb and Dianne!!

Well I am heading outside to get beans and tomatoes and moreeee zucchini. My freezer will be full with mini zucchini cakes!!! lol
Have a wonderful day all

Morning,

Yesterday was quite a day, got involved in a project, thought I'd have plenty of time to chat in the evening, just got home and friends dropped in, then Ann for t.v. bingo, no we didn't win..lol
Think I was even falling asleep during bingo, maybe that's why I did not win.

But here I am, ready to chat a bit..

Read your posts several times, you know how it is when you are tired/tired, don't remember a thing!!!

Debbie, you are indeed earning your sainthood! I hope Nate knows just how lucky he is to have found a family and a mother hen to take him into the folds..I'm with the others..what size does he take, mega sales going on right now, if he's going to school perhaps some book??? Possibly could send with Barb if you two are meeting up.. Shane is a smart one, nodding my head, best he learns they have different interests and lives and not for it to become so overwhelming that Shane has to take him everywhere he goes it's best to learn that now!

Mary, is the party this weekend? let's hope all the friends DON'T invite other friends..you know, maybe parents of the children have many of the same concerns and will not let their children attend..might make things easier..so glad you have the inlaws attending!!!

Did brown bag'ing at the farmhouse as well, looked neat! Debbie, love wallpaper as well, almost time to redo the entrance as it's been 5 years..don't like that most stores now do not keep rolls in stock, you must order...you know me, decide in the morning and want it done by evening so that just doesn't work..downstairs thought, I bought a stencil, better quality than the walmart stencils, might have purchased it in Michael's, anyway, bought 'dap'..texture, placed stencil on the wall and filled in design..have design cascading down towards chesterfield..after it is painted it's absolutely lovely, bit different!

Katie, do you have to order in your prescriptions all the time or specialty meds only..

Susan, almost forgot about hubby's truck, is the dent now repaired?

Thunder, best that they played it safe, you wouldn't want hubby flying in bad weather for sure..looking at the clock, he's either now home or will be shortly..

LindaKay, is life boring for you without the kids..lol..bet you are hankering to go back and pick them up..

Laura, have you always had problems with step-mom! Got to tell you and think Mary would agree, NOT EASY being a step-mom..in fact it's pure HELL!!!!...won't go there again regardless how wonderful the hubby would be...trip sounds exciting..photo's please

All others, will go back and read again..lol

speaking of photo's..I'll post a few if you wish..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thea, thanks for the treats, am going to post a few photo's...

Loved Frankenmuth, Betty - wonderful pics!!
re: brown bagging - reminds me of what I did to the floor of a country kitchen - 120 sq ft! 1912 house and previously had asphalt tiles a la 1950's and boy were they hard to get off! Some took 1/2 hour just to remove..... Got 'em all off, then found the tar had stained the wood black. Bob was on disability so was home making NO $. I tore brown paper into "flagstone" sized paper and used flour/water paste to glue 'em down. Did 3 layers like that so I couldn't see the black, then varathaned over it. Lasted for 3 years before we put laminate flooring over it. Looked pretty darn good. I'd seen Debbie Travis do it to a wall and thought "why not?" about a floor LOL

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - my first wedding was at Christmastime (Dec 22nd) and I would never have worn Christmas ornaments on my dress lol Looks too delicate and I'd be afraid to brush up against anyone! I had ivy and pointsettas in my bouquet though , and I sewed my own dress, - back in the 70's - had bell sleeves :-)

That's brown bagging. I did it to one floor. It's not holding up well as it went on rough concrete and I didn't do enough layers but it's keeping the dust down until I can get back to it.

Using the rag is sponging and it can also make very beautiful effects for not a lot of money.

Kaiser won't send meds to Mexico so I have them sent to someone in the US and they send them to me here.

Last night I ate something that upset my stomach and I had weird dreams and more weird dreams. Not nightmares, just weird.

I can put my shelves back where the brown bagging is done and sort some stuff - sitting down. Yea.

hugs, katie
