Best/worse/what did I learn today? Chat with friends
Well, I can tell everyone about my camping experience, but can't find my camera so can't post pics!! When Bob gets home tonight, I'll see if I left it in his truck.....
1 Arrived Friday July 22 at noon, and set up. Ate dinner at Heritage Inn - Pasta Night, so they make your pasta sauce to your specifications! gonna have to try that.
2. Kicked around on Saturday and just enjoyed the day. Did this a couple of different days.
3. Went to September Springs Ranch and had an English Tea with Devonshire Cream and preserves on English Scones and some lovely Black Currant Tea, while sitting in a gazebo in an English Garden. Went back a few days later and had some more tea and pie.
4. Went to Cardston to visit some old friends (Ron & Reeva) and some new ones (Larry & Shirley). Went back another day and viewed the Card homestead (Mennonite) and the Temple - got pictures, naturally.
5. Went to Montana's Glacier National Park and went through a mountain glacier, then took some awesome pics!
6. Took a trip to Frank Slide (1915 - the entire mountain face avalanched and took out a lot of the town - Frank was a mining town and they're still trying to figure out if mining the mountain contributed to the slide. What a lot of rocks!!
7. Met some new friends from Lethbridge, Alberta and will be keeping in touch - Winston, Marquet and their daughter Joselyn. They're dutch, and a very nice couple.
8. Returning from Cardston last Monday, ran into severe rain, and by the time we got back to the campsite, we discovered it had hailed - have some pics, and Bob scooped up enough that he could have made a softball with it! No problems with the dining or regular tent, but boy was the underside of the tent Wet! The weight had bent the tent a bit, but once cleared popped right back up.
Can't wait to see your pictures Susan! Hope you find your camera. Glad you did not have a lot of damage from the hail!
Omg Susan, what a fun filled trip..was this the first time you have been?? So hope you left your camera in Bob' truck..anxious to see the photo's..nothingnworse than doing an entire trip, snapping picture galore and zappppp gone..on my last trip I mistakenly erased all my photo's...was hoping Crissy could email me a few she took in Memphis!
Does this mean as I did with Dianne that I have to stay up half the night in anticipation of seeing them?
Ann just left, no winnings from t.v. Bingo playing!
Hello To All !
Crissy - I'll head up to help you celebrate your Mom's Bday ! LOL... DH is going out of town.... I told him to call MIL first... if they will come 8/13 then I will stay. They don't realize how many ppl she has invited Betty so all they did was remind him that he had a college going away party too... (back then drinking age was 18 not 21...no pool and no 90 ppl)....
Love the mat with the kitties... I'd be trying so hard not to step on them LOL... all the mats are pretty..... Love the Fried Green Tomatoes movie and book... will look that up....
LK - thanks for the orange rolls... bring back memories...
Debbie - OMG how frustrating ! Not sure what Carrie is like... LOL The "Kraken"... she sounds like my youngest DSD....always an argument....alway on the attack...
Susan... ((HUGS)) DS... sigh.... wish my DS would shape up and fly right... as Dad used to say.... KIDS ! Dad says he wants to visit Montana... the only state he hasn't been in.... Can't wait for your pics...
(HUGS) Katie "Who still lives"... how was your day ! I completely peeled the papaya wrong... will know next time... How do you know the best one to buy ? (I know you grow your own)
I'll be on for a while... HUGS,
Mary
Well Mary, stayed up at least to say 'hi', can't keep my eyes open so thinking of calling it a day..did Lance's party go awry?? maybe that is all it would take to get him to come to his senses where his daughter is concerned is pull out all the things he did at that age..lol
Just sitting thinking of Dianne and Warren, Shirley and Bev, of course the rest of you are always in my prayers, just have had them on my mind all evening..
Off to say evening prayers..
Waving bye/bye
You never know Mary, was up at 2am..if I do wake up, coming to check to see if you are still up..
we Found My Camera - it was in Bob's truck
I'll have to upload either tonight, or tomorrow! I'll post the link asap.
Waiting, bet they are spectacular..nicest thing is you met new friends...no news on jobs?
yes, I spoke to the agency that interviewed me on the 21st and they said the company isn't looking at any more than 5 of us, and they haven't set up any interviews yet. She says they will be making interview times by the end of this week.
I said that was alright, and I would wait, that the company would get back when they could (they'd signed a contract to deal with Just That Agency, so it's really only the 5 of us) The agency also said one interviewee called all upset and angry that the company was "keeping us on hold" by not interviewing yet. I said I couldn't react that way - it wasn't professional.
So, I guess I'll hear by Friday whether they want to do a 2nd interview or not.
Long day today so of course I can't get my brain to click off tonight.
DH had a bad day today even before he had his radiation. Poor guy! We spend more time getting to the hospital in Kingston than he does in the treatment room. I spoke to his oncologist tonight and she suggested I give him extra pain meds tonight.Especially since he has been in so much pain all day. Hopefully with his sleeper that will conk him out for the night.Any way 1 treatment behind us so onward we go.
(((Mary))) I sure would not want to be in your shoes with this party. The first year I taught I was invited to a 'field' party that some of the HS kids were having...... long story short I went with another teacher. After being taken to the field by hay wagon and spending about 10 minutes at the party I told the fellow I arrived with we need to get out of here now there is going to be trouble. I was so glad he listened to me and my crazy vibes but there was big trouble that night and some of those kids are going to have to live with that the rest of their lives. Turned out the farm where the party was being held the guy's parents were away - they made a yearly holiday for a few days after haying was finished so the host chose a night and passed the word. When I think of it now we all did things like that even without FB!
LK is this the day you take the grands back? Bet you are going to miss them!
Susan glad you had a great camping trip and that you found your camera. Looking forward to seeing the pics.
When do you leave to go to Judy's Betty?
Need to get Stormy in, he is talking to his relatives in the next county. Sweet dreams everyone.
Dianne
Good for you Susan ! Take the high road....it will all work out... and the one who complained... I'll bet she is out of the running... comes off as a complainer....
Betty - Hubby did plenty to raise an eyebrow at... however his party did not have complications.. probably because it was a LOT fewer guys... at parents home.... and everyone stayed the night....
GoodNess... if I can only get through the next week... then the next year... things will get easier ????
Yes - good to meet new folks on vacation. Betty - I wish I could stay up every night till 2am... I am such a night person... but need to be at office at 8am tomorrow... Have a lot to do....
Looking at a GMC Acadia... hubby says it doesn't have good enough gas mileage but heavens... does any vehicle that large ????
Hugs,
Mary
Awe... Gentle HUGS Dianne... for you and for Warren too... Wish I could do or say something to alleviate the pain.... but I'm thinking of you both and will say a prayer as well.....
Good news I made DH call MIL tonight and she and FIL will be here for "The Party"... I trust them. And hopefully DSD once she knows they will be here ... will be on P's and Q's.....
Love Stormy ... such the socialite.... and friends from all over. Barking to the next county was probably the first Thread/Blog ever... LOL
Hugs,
Mary
For some reason my card reader isn't showing my pictures. My system recognized the ScanDisk, and it's lit up, plus my camera 'reads" the card, but I can't "see" them on my computer.............!!
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1204857/
Hmmm... Maybe you can hook the camera up to the computer another way Susan ???
I was going to hook my camera up, but I can't find the USB cable for the camera. And my computer says "safe to remove hardware" so it's seeing my card reader - it's my memory card that's not working?!?! However, the card reader lights up when I put the card in it......
I'm stymied!!!
Another sleepless night...
Dianne,, hope the meds worked and Warren is having a good night's sleep!didn't help his being appt being so late...what time did you get home? You yourself must be exhausted? Ann and I leave tomorrow, am hoping to get off around 2:00pm and cross at Sarnia then find a hotel...
Be back in a sec...
yikes, Betty - still up?
I'm uploading all my pics to "PhotoBucket" and then I'll have to edit some.... they don't seem to be in the order I took them, so will see if I can fix that..... and rotate a few lol
Will you be going online while you're away, Betty?
Betty, what you doin up?? I my self am gonna try to go to bed...about that time I guess almost 4 am here...................sweet dreams Y'all :)
Seems as though we've all had a sleepless night!
I think Susan editing photo's and reliving the trip is equally as enjoyable..anxious to see your photo's and hear you recount stories of each..we get to travel through the eyes of friends..
Thunder, lordy we could all have had a tea party had we lived closer..posting is like the new 'lights are on, come on over' I should have dropped back in..if you don't get some sleep soon Thunder you'll be sleeping at work.
Light rain falling, I've transferred the telephones to home last night, was unsure if I'd work from home or go in, almost feel guilty about others going to work and working from home..not usually a slacker but have decided as the rain is falling very softly that I will stay home...
Tidy up a bit, pack my bags for tomorrow!!!
Yes, taking my ipad with we, would imagine most hotels now days have wifi
Wow, look at everyone up all night! Sure hope you all slept in, or get a nap today!
Morning everyone!
Betty, please tell me what the flecto is?
I think I had a sleep almost good enough for all of us. One of my dogs is having a bladder problm and peed on a quilt but it's so hot I just pushed it aside and kept sleeping. Though I heard rain but not such luck.
Tony will probably not be here today as he's taking son Antonio to start college. It's so exciting. I've known Antonio since he was four so he's like a grandchild to me. Last Christmas I totally surprised him with a new laptop computer at the (huge) family get together I was practically jumping up and down with excitement and everyone gathered around as he opened it and gave a round of applause when he saw what it was. He gave me a big hug - a great Christmas present for me. The haredest part for me had been keeping it a secret from Tony - I'd spun a tale about car trouble (true) and not having a l ot for Christmas (not quite so true). Antonio has now probably forgiven me for telling his girlfriend how cute he was when he was four.
There are the same problems with kids here as in the States - early prenancies, drugs, alchohol and all the rest.. Tony and Fely both seem to be such good parents - and Fely is related to at least half the people in town so the kids can't hide - and the kids seem to be reflecting that which is not always the case.
I always have Christmas presents for Tony and Fely and the kids. Sometimes for other members of the family. I shop thrift shops when in Ca. Sometimes friends give me toys (even a bike once or twice). The presents have been nice for the kids especially aswhen they were young. But they have been a bonus for the kids; Christmas is about family here. Many, Many Mexican get really drunk on Christmas Eve when the big celebration is - I'm glad Tony doesn't - in fourteen years I've only known him to have one beer.
My father used to drink and be more miserable than usual because of his upbringing and my sister Mary was the same way raising her kids my niece tells me. I love being a part of giving a very different history to kids here. When I enjoy Christmas it gives the lie to my family history.
I have a bit of a headache. I'm going to put my quilt in the wash and read for awhile. Lazy days are in order with this heat.
hugs, katie
you wash your quilts in the washing machine, katie?
I have five dogs so I buy cheap thrift shop quilts to use on the bed. The rugs and quilts that I make are kept away froom the dogs. kb
lol I understand, Katie! We keep our good quilts away from our cat's claws lol
I wash all my quilts in the washing machine!!! I make them to be used, and lovingly abused!!
well I was in the bed for about 7hrs, maybe slept about 4....tried to go to sleep, could not, so I turned on the light and read a book...usually makes me tired....nope did not work :(
Betty, no way I could sleep at work!!! I am on my feet the whole time, and moving around..much to busy to fall asleep standing!! hope you get to take a nap, and get a good night sleep before your trip !!! give Judy and Steve hugs for me....
Imagine I'm still in my jammies..been a busy morning work wise, quite surprised!
My main floormat is curing, I cut down the large one into a smaller one for guest bedroom deck, add a new blue and yellow stripe..maybe stipple a bit of white/black into the square diamond, few more coats of finish and recycled it shall be..
Haven't even packed yet, made a list so shouldn't take much to do..should call and get my hair cit after 4:30 if she can take me..tomorrow it will leave only change over $$$. And travel insurance
LindaKay, was it yesterday the kids went home? Bet you are lost without them..
I'm sure Katie, Tony/Fely and family appreciate all you do for them..Christmas has always been my thing, guess it was all through my home years, carried it through with my kids and now theirs...can't find an inch around the tree for gifts..Roger always used to say, if your name is in the telephone book then you get a Christmas gift dorm Betty..lordy, even made afghans for seniors home last year...it's coming and I'm getting ready for it, it's on the downslide..
Ooops, telephone ringing!
Yes, I took the boys home yesterday! 2 hours drive, and every few minutes, it was are we there yet, how much longer...
Mary, your going to love the GMC Acadia. We bought one last summer, and we love it!
Thanks Betty!
Got invited to Cathy's for supper, what a great home cooked meal..her dad and I chatted like crazy, her mom was at Casino Rama..
Got home, made a list of groceries, not sure if Cathy and her mom will just drop in and play/feed the furries or if she'll be staying at my house for 5 days so guess I'd better go grocery shopping and buy some treats just incase..
Trying to tidy up the house, gee whiz when I do crafting everything is upside down..
While I had the tables set up/paint out decided to take the old mat off back deck, cut it down to a proper size for metal set I have on back bedroom...revived the old colors somewhat, stenciled in some leaves and voila, is sure to match the blue and yellow cushions on the patio set...
Got to make it pretty for Barb to get served coffee and muffins..lol
Hello to All !
Katie - wow what a wonderful gift ! That's awesome that you were able to find a family to adopt... in a way... what college is the young man going to ? I've always wanted to visit San Antonio for some reason... just seems a very historical city...
LK - thanks for the report on the Acadia ! DH wants me to test drive one soon... I think I will like it... it's similar to my Tahoe....
Is Barb "En Route" yet ?
I'll pop back in a bit. Hubs is out of town and the house is quiet...
Hugs,
Mary
Hi Mary, I am here.....checking tons of email and playing Bingo on FB.
Mary, no Barb and Norm don't leave for another 2 weeks! I leave tomorrow afternoon for Chicago, Judy's gathering..taking Ann as co-pilot..
I loved San Antonio, went to the Aloma and I remember thinking, why would they let a city build right around the Fort, why not keep it in more virgin state... Second thing I remember is shopping in all the old shops, had a musty smell which confirmed how old the area was..so full of history..love visiting such places, comes 2nd to graveyards..
Is hubby off to another schooling?
Debbie, what do you play for??
Just fun and tokens....nothing to win but "points".
Hello Night Shift ! YAY! BEtty and Deb are Here... Who else ???
Oh Goodness Betty - how time flies.... YES - Judy's gathering is coming up ! What exact date is it? I'll get a last minute flight and..... (trailing off..... )........
How odd re: San Antonio... so they built the city right up on the ruins? Well - my Bank's home office is there... and my old employer's home office is there.... so I've always thought about visiting....
Is Bingo as much fun as scrabble ? LK and I are playing scrabble....
Hubs is in Shreveport till Saturday night... They have a booth at some convention where every Mayor in the State is supposed to be at. He wants to meet the Mayors so when they are ready to auction off City Equipment... he wil be their guy.....
He just called and I was reading Betty's blog.... and I fibbed and told him I was 'working on the computer'.
I suppose I just love you gals MORE.....
Hugs,Mary
Great pastime though Debbie!
Was today a good day for you?
You are too funny Mary..
you grab a flight and I'll pick you up at the airport Saturday morning!!
LindaKay is often there, am sure she knows the entire history of San Antonio..when you think about the battle out in the wilds and see what it is now like, hard to imagine.
Its not a tournament...I just play with my own cards...and the machine. I am such a people person...lol
