Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Rise and shine everyone, coffee is ready for you all!

I have been up since 4am, nothing beats being woken up by a screaming neighbor!! The son (about 30 years old) of my neighbor (both parents are deaf/mute) is a deaf/mute but also a mentally handicapped and sometimes he gets out during the night, stands on the back deck and screams…just blood curdling screams, no apparent reason either. Other neighbors have called the police before and it had stopped for a while, but he just sneaks out once in a while and screams. DH and I call him the neighborhood werewolf…lol...So it will be naptime for me this afternoon!!

Our son informed us last night that he finally found an apartment in the City. It is kind of bitter sweet for me…I am very happy for him to have found a beautiful place (8th floor highrise with view of the Ottawa River and the old part of the city, with lots of parks and bike path), but I will miss him very much. He is my first to fly the coup and still my little boy…Just another part of life starting I guess.
He asked me to make him a cookbook with all my recipes! Told him that would take me a while, because a lot of my cooking is “freestyle” no measurements just by taste…lol

It is muggy and overcast here and they are calling for rain!!! YAY much needed here. Flowers and veggies are starting to look sad, we water but we are on well water and don`t want to run dry. The bonus is though, we don`t have to mow the grass, nothing grew for the last 3 weeks and it is crispy brown…lol

Morning Thea,

Maybe the torrential rains we're getting is on it's way!!! let's hope

I would guess that the ban on water use will be lifted today..it's either drought or flooding..what pretty flowers there are in my gardens I'm sure will be flattened by the rain..can't have it both ways I guess.

Back from town, quick run in..thanks for the coffee,was going to stop at Timmies but the line up had about 20 vehicles in it so was sure someone here would make coffee just got my linoleum and painters tape and ready to start which involves basecoating the backside of the 6'x8' piece..shouldn't say it's the first step because I have to clean off 4 tables so it can unfold enough for me to give it a coat of sealer..will take a bit to dry today with this humidity

Not great about your neighbor, wow, must give you chills not knowing if something is really wrong.

Ahhh, hurts like the dickens doesn't it to have one of the kids move out, big smile here, thinking that Mary and Debbie who might appreciate the same at this point. Maybe temporary digs for a few weeks just long enough for the kids to learn the harsh ways of the world.

Your photo style reminds me of Bev's..

Bev, Shirley if you are lurking and not up to par, can you just type an 'I'm ok' worry about you gals!

Setting up

Good morning Ladies,

I didn't think I would sleep last night as I passed out on the couch from 7:00 to 9:15. BUT went to bed shortly after Midnight, and woke up at 7:40. SO, feel a bit rested.

Today is the day I find out just how chaotic the rest of the summer is going to be. DH is at the surgeons office right now....getting his MRI results from knee & elbow. Sigh. I have that feeling in my stomach I don't like.

Woke up to the sound of rain also.....will share with all of you. It has put the humidity up so high already, so I just put the A/C on instead of windows open as it felt hard to breath.

Betty, love that piece of linolium, the colors are so nice together. I get so many compliments on YOUR chicken matt you made for me....just love it and it cleans so nicely.

Need some breakfast and have to do my exercises.
Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, praying that your day even though its raining will be filled with sunshine and that Paul will need meds only..

Your body must have said enough is enough, you need rest..maybe you can get a few naps in today as well..nothing like falling asleep to the sound of rain..

Debbie that's the finished side that one would put down on their floor, you know me, can't do everything like everyone else..lol

It's now on the table waiting for me to seal and prime...

Debbie, glad you liked yours, I enjoyed making it for you...sure is easy to clean, think that's why I have them vs. real rugs..no vacuuming and no staining...now if you see it lose it's shine let me know and I'll tell you what to do

Victoria Harbour, ON

oops for got the photo

I won't stress over it, have 4 days to play off/on..
Upstairs wants dusting and floors washed/junk drawer cleaned so while I'm waiting for paint to dry I can multi-task..

This working from home is fun...hope nobody calls..lol

I'm thinking this will be the design, I so love the red/black/white with added flowered border on the existing one that I'm not sure these colors are exciting enough..few steps to go before I have to make that choice...

Just got the note from DH a few minutes ago. He does have a torn meniscus in the right knee....and he also has worn cartlidge, a bone spurr and some debris in the left elbow. HOWEVER, doctor said no surgery now, call me when it gets bad. Trust me....my DH does not whine (much) and IF he went to the doctor...it was already bad. No meds, resume normal activity....call when it is bad. Makes no sense.

Betty, I loaded some "Free books" on my Nook....might prop up the feet and read them.
Both kids are home today.....Shane goes into work at 5:00. No idea what "the child" is up too, she was gone before I got up to help a friend with something. I told her since it was payday....she could bring me a Tim Hortons.....hahaha right! lol

Lexington Park, MD

Wrapping Arms around you, i'm glad you are un-watching those threads, first step to feeling better...Next, just don't open any d-mails from those people, sigh, I know that situation quite well, (getting yelled at from people) in words are worse then actually hearing, especially when they DONT know you, some people should just be quiet, and i don't mean you! I once got a d-mail from someone I never even talked with about a comment I made. The comment was meant as a compliment, but since they didn't know what i meant, just Assumed otherwise...Anyways, I was upset for a long time and I've lost a "friend" because of it. At least thats how I see it...And another time, I offered some advise and basically was told, I'm not the only person with that problem, never mind that I was at the tale end of dealing with the situation, it was very fresh, but what do I know, LOL, Now, I am not the only one with the problem, Shut me up quick, i was gone immediatley! Moral of my story, i stick to home here.
I don't even bother lurking anywhere any more, unless it's at pictures...I love pics.

So, laundry is done, Now on to the bedding!! Bedrooms are in order, bath just about complete again...Ended up removing the bottom layer of Caulk!!
I am soar, and hurt all over! Felt like a Lucy episode...Good thing I was alone, for all the foul words flying from my mouth!! In the end, I won, it was a great job. DH said wow, you got it all. Well yaeah isn't that how is suppose to be?? Yep and he was able to caulk the surround in about 15 mins!! And guess who is taking the first shower?? LOLOL...I've weeded, cooked, cleaned some more weeded. I am exhausted, need a 2 week vacation.

Oh Bev - sending you big toothless smiles to make you smile. It's after 10 am and I haven't even been to the shower yet. Sooooo - no teeth yet.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good Morning Everyone!!!

Hey! Why don't we swap, I'll take your rain and you can have our sun with our 110* temps! LOL!!

(((((((((((((((((BEV)))))))))))))))))))

Debbie that is weird about Paul's doc visit. I know a girl who works in this building and she had a torn meniscus and they operated on her the very next day. It took her awhile to recover but she's back to normal now. I'm wondering if maybe Paul is refusing and just told you that's what the doc said?

I forgot what I have read! LOL!!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Dianne, my heart is heavy with your news. I so wish I could change things. I hope you know that we are all here for you and Warren in any way we can be. I just want to wrap my arms around you and hold you close. We will be heading your way in three weeks and I'm still hoping we can meet. Tell me, is there some special treat that Warren likes that I can bring from the States?

mulege, Mexico

Good Morning everyone, I slept well and am feeling much better. Tony is here, admiting that he's nnot feeling great. He's worked so laong and hard for people who didn't give a darn that it's taken years to get him to say when he's feeling a little down. He's raking leaves - the sh.. work that needs to be done over and over, like washing dishes. I told him how much I appreciate it. I need to go to town and see if I can get more fresh orange juice. And eggs.

Ther is one person on the "old" thread that I just love. She has king of yelled at me several times but has always apologized and at one point was going to leave the thread because she felt so bad about something she said to me. I had not even noticed as I always felt she was coming from a loving space and I told her so. I told her I was leaving in a Dmail. She went to the thread and threew a fit. Says she will leave if I do and demanded people post what they've been saying to me privately. Did I mention that I totally love this woman? I'm not really interested in going back but I sure do love the support.

I also have the a/c on mor4e to dehumidfy than to cool. Our temps are a little lower than usual but the air is so thick you want gills.

Isn't it interesting that if you know a person loves and care about you there is often almost nothing they can say that will really hurt. But without that basis of love and trust the most monor snide remark can fester for months or even years.

hugs to all, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie that is absolutely crazy,are you suppose to be completely bedridden before they do something? Paul must be so frustrated.
Wish I had you reader for a day, Jeff would put 1,000- 2,000 books on it with most being your favorite authors..

The least she could do, big donut along with x-large Timmy coffee

Laura, sunshine, humid, sent the rain your way..must have caught your bug..cleaning being done here as well...Ann just dropped in the get her floor mat, thought as it was raining she would paint on it..now sunshine so she' off to the gardens

Victoria Harbour, ON

Goodness, started my previous post ages ago and finally pressed send to find you had all been chatting! Lol. Can't stay long, found me a couple of men., how cool is that..june's hubby Alex will come and cut down the headboard legs, should be here any moment then a bit later Mary 's husband will drop in to do a small project..life's grand!!

Nobody listened to 'working from home, no calls please!'. Actually quit busy..now that the sunshine is out maybe they'll all head to the beach and I can play

Be back once the chores are done!

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Sending you lots of good thoughts and big ((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))) I know this is not easy on you! Wish I was closer.

Victoria Harbour, ON

It's a beauty Bev..

Now how on earth did Scotty get out of the hospital, and three tomes to boot?? That man needs constant care and you are not the one to be giving it to him...shaking my head...tell me please he!s on his way back? Does he take a cab?

mulege, Mexico

The roublemaker on my old thread just made a long "ppor me, katie is so mean" post. Hafl a page, easily. I posted that this was just what she did no the thread where I first had problems with her, a thread which died quickly after I left it to her and her ways.

Another person posted just what could be expected of her.

I'm back here and feeling pretty good. I love having a fairly clear head - at least on stuff like this.

I'm back here and thinking about our reality show. Here's another variation: each week two people are chosen to be tied face-to-face for a number of hours (or days, or weeks).
The subtle part of this game is to pick to two who are so similar that they will drive each other nuts. There is a possiblity that one of them will see the light and realize how they come across to others. Or they might just beat each other senseless which would be another sort of lesson. Might be a good title for the show: "tie 'em face to face." The audience could vote on who to pair up with whom. I have a few candidates myself and we wouldn't have to leave daves to find them.

hugs, katie

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

oh no. scotty has been in the nursing home now for three months. he is permanent resident. he goes to the hospital once a month because he fills with fluid because he will not move around or take therapy so it will soon stop his heart. he threw me out for the 10th time the other day and told me never to come back so am staying away. he had to sign all over to me but still wants to run the show. he won't let me sell or get rid of anything, so i need to keep my mouth shut.i hope i can get my second cast off tues and not have another to drive me crazy.

Thumbnail by dragonfly62
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Bev I am so sorry, but please stay away from him, you don't need it! I hope you have a metal hanger you can bend and scratch your arm with!

Shirley, how art thou Shirley? LOL

Katie please quit reading that thread, nothing good can come out of that, up and leave, who cares what they're saying about you, it doesn't matter what other people think about you, all that matters is what YOU think about you. I'm very glad you have a clear head today regarding this sort of stuff. LOL on the reality show, but I think that people who know these two people should put them together, hey Jerry Springer should have done this!! LOL!!!

Well I just had an interview with my boss about that position that I'm already doing, ** sigh **

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Crissy, will it mean a pay raise for you?

mulege, Mexico

I have written to the one person I've really become friends with and the peron who is moderator of the thread who has some serious medical problems he's dealing with right now and probably feels like he's been hit with a hurricane. I'm now out of there.

Drinking fresh orange juice and chilling.

Giving myself a coupel of days to decompress before hitting any heavy work.

hugs all around, katie

Lyndonville, NY

Crissy, is that the position I am taking when you get promoted and we get an apartment together? ROFL

mulege, Mexico

Now there's a positive "tie 'em face to face." kb

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh LK I don't know, I guess I can say yes whether I stay here or not, I will get a raise at some point in time LOL He still wants his experienced programmer and he said he thought I understood what he wanted and what he was doing (which I do and that puts me back out being a secretary and that's a big no. What he's looking for is an experienced programmer to work for user support pay and a user support person to work for Administrative Specialist III pay $12.50 an hour. I know for a fact that the User Support title makes $35,554 to start, I currently make $25,954 doing the User Support job with an Administrative Specialist III title. That is not correct.) I told him straight up that the $12.50 an hour isn't working anymore, especially with the work and responsibilities I have taken on, and my BA, and with Dave being the way he's being with screaming in my face every day for the last month and not making an income, I can learn programming, I did it in college and got A's, I just don't have any working experience but I am very willing to learn it. I DO NOT want to leave but I'm stagnant and my personality won't allow me to be stagnant for long. He said he's going to take what he wants to do and everything I have said into consideration and will get back to me.

I don't know what to think.

Lexington Park, MD

Ok it is 105 here right now and sooo humid. We need some rain.
Crissy did he give you a time frame in which he will let you know what decision he has made?

Verona, ON

Oh Crissy that is so demoralizing when you know you can do the job.((((Crissy)))) Years ago I was once hired for a job and the person I reported to directly was someone I had taught a University course to the previous summer. Didn't stay there long!!! Don't let Dave pressure you - you are the one making the money not him.
(((Bev))) sure hope you get this cast off for good. I am so glad you have your camera so you can get out and take these wonderful pics. Think positive, we are all right here rooting for you.
Betty - big doings up your way for the long weekend? Not much going on here. Sure don't miss doing Kempenfest - are you going to go?
~~~~~~~ to you all. I am exhausted but can't sleep. Go figure!
BBL
Dianne
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)
No he didn't, but I can approach him, I'll give it a couple of weeks and see what happens, I have an interview between now and then so that will be interesting too, a user support position that pays what it's supposed to pay but with a different agency which means I would have to leave and I DO NOT want to leave, for more reasons than one.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Bev, I misunderstood, I was panicking thinking he was home with you, sigh of relief here I got to tell you! Did he sign the papers and is everything now in your name?? If it is he has no say! If you stay away for several weeks does he have the nurses call for you to visit?
Are you wanting to move Bev? Comes a time regardless if you want to continue living where you are that it's just not feasible..this weather hasn't helped anyone with depression, stuck inside because of high temps..
Did you feel that hug?
Crissy, how maddening that he didn't see your point of view right off! Know you want to put your degree to something more than what you are doing..being dissatisfied with your job makes for an unhealthy work environment! Let's hope he decides to give you a chance to learn it, if it does not turn out then a can still hire and fill the position.
I'm absolutely dumbfounded that Dave's put you under such pressure
Re job...you at least have a job!!
Oops, my guardian Kyle just dropped in so off I go, be back shortly to finish responding to the posts
mulege, Mexico
I had a chemistry teacher in high school who used to tell us to "think simple-minded."
In that spirit I offer the following query:
If you don not want to quit your job it might not be a good idea to give the boss an ultimatum. (As side note, I was in a miserable marriage to a person because I gave in when he gave me an ultimatum - a have a real aversion to them.)
If the problem is your husband's complaints, why not work there? (Am I missing something or is this not the BIG problem?)
Here's my unsolicited suggestion: Sit him down and explain to him, you do not want to quit you job. Second, explain that since it is YOUR job you want to decide whether or when you give him an ultimatum which could paint you in a corner. Third, offer him some choices: 1) stop complaining. I cannot imangine going to work with the issues you are trying to deal with an then coming home to a bitchy spouse. No way. @) Since he knows so much about suitable jobs he should put his energy into finding one. And, 3) if he disagress with anything you have said he should leave. Now. PERIOD. No discussion.
I don't know about spousal support laws where you are but in Ca and many other places you are putting yourself at serious financial risk by continuing to support him when he is making no effort to work.
Delete this if you don't want unsolicited advice. But I needed to spit it out.
love, katie
Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)
got your hugs thanks. he will have the nurse call wen i don't show for a couple of days like nothing happened. i don't want to move and lose my flowers but if he passes i won't be able to stay or rent but will make it somehow.
Just reread this and am not sure I was clear which "him" I wa talking about. To clarify: talk to your husband, let stuff with the boss wait. I suspect if you quiet Dave down other things will work out. kb
Victoria Harbour, ON
Kyle just left to get us French fries..lol healthy supper right.
Bev, I'm trying to figure this out, do you rent land and own trailer? Couldn't Rick help you out? I so would hate to see you move from those gorgeous gardens..
Katie, those decisions are hard im sure for Crissy to make seeing as she is not sure what direction she has to take in life.. I agree ultimatums are never something one should give unless they are willing to accept the end result..Crissy just don't like that Dave is belittling you and your work..you've kept things going these past few years, appreciation should be shown...
Kyle is back with fries, best I go eat
mulege, Mexico
I put up with so much with so little appreciation I must admit it is a "button" for me. What I attempt to do is offer ideas, options, whatever. What the person in a situation does has to be their decision as they are the one who has to live with it.
But I sure do have opinions!!
i own the trailer and three lots but i would be left with not even half of what income i have now and rick doesn't make enough on medicaid for his diability to help with bills. medicad cut him by 200.00 last yr. i would evenually have to go on public aid and i would hate that but wouldn't have any medicine if i don't. lord will find a way.
