like that here as well Thunder..our police force is much the same..with losing 2 police officers these past months we've seen such a banding of all forces and general public! Glad we're still able to band together...

ramen is a type of noodle / soup comes in a packet with a little packet inside of "broth mix"

comes in many flavors, chicken, beef, oriental, shrimp, spicy chicken.....very inexpensive, and quick to make.....

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, Ramen is a package of "dried" japanesse noodles with a flavor packet. They are very very curly....and you cook them for about 3 minutes...then add the flavor packet. The kids love eating them as they are sooo long and curly. I think they cost MAYBE 20 cents a pack. They are a big hit with college
kids away from home who can't cook.

I've seen them, yes, didn't know that is what they are called..never attempted to purchase as they don't look too apetizing to me..lol

Baton Rouge, LA

Yes - the chicken ramen is what I just ate. Wish I had some good ole home made soup but this was simple so not chancing something heavy....

That's so funny that you can find pics of Ramen on the computer... LOL...Yes - you can get 6 packs for a $1 at Walmart and was def a big hit in the lean years.....
LOL Betty - I'd never fit my Dance outfit from college. I "Wish" ! Deb - that warms my heart about the Marines helping out that family.
LOL on the 'toga's ! how funny.... Betty - does your mall have a Food Court ?
LOVE chicken fried steak ! We used to cook it but it took us so long... we haven't had in years.... Do you make the white gravy ? Okay - I just scanned up and answered my own question. But I've seen with brown gravy & I Prefer white.
What time shall we show up for your Birthday dinner ?

Hugs,
Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

Brown gravy for me please..

Mary, small food court..fish/chip place, japanese, chinese, then there is a big restaurant, Golden Coral (where we ate and didn't enjoy) when we came to see the place we tried something and didn't like it either...) Suzanne said we should try 'all you can eat Tuesday morning pancakes' lol

Then at Zellers, there is a 50's type dinner

Also along Bayfield there has to be about 40 restaurants (some big chain) so we'll not go without..and Bayfield mall has humungous Food Court, right across the street..wouldn't hurt to bring my lunch..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

OMG Debbie that is awesome!!! Good for your DH for doing that for you. Kudos to him! Now I'm hungry, I'll be there in a few hours, tell him to save me some!

Lyndonville, NY

Crissy, he makes "my choice" dinner every year...for 20 years now. He has made home made lasagna, shrimp scampi, veal parm (my favorite he did), burgers & dogs, just depends the mood I am in. Sometimes...I just feel like giving him an exotic challenge. LOL

He already has the chocolate cake done. Last year was a spice cake. ONe year a lemon merange pie. He kind of dares me to "give him a challenge". I think he really likes it.

Betty..sorry, white gravy all the way!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

wow - you guys are chatty! trying to keep up....
Betty - get to the Dr re: scarring, etc - and do you Really need a deli-guy? LOL And hope they fix the heat/cold issue for you
(((((Debbie)))))) ♪♫Happy Birthday to You!! ♫♪
LK - prayers for your Brother and his family..... what an upset, and so glad she's gone to her family for support!
Judy - Congrats on getting the job - now, if I could only afford to hire you and fly you up here LOL
Mary - hope the Ramen helped you (I can't eat it - too salty! But sometimes use the noodles only, in a soup I make, or asian stirfry) - soup is sooooo good for you when you're not feeling well. I made some homemade soup (ham/lentils/veggies) and it's sooooo good! nummers!
Well, not sure if we're going to Montana cuz it's a "if/when we want to". We'd be "tooling around" and make up our minds as we go.... Very relazing that way!

Here is my darlin' angel grand daughter eating a plate of ramen, just the noodles, without the broth..

How awesome, Debbie! Can I "borrow" him for my birthday? I'd love that, but we usually eat out and it's not necessaryily so that we do. Sometimes we have a regular day and don't do anything special.....

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I love the Ramen noodles, and your DGD is so sweet!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Not a good day here. I went town and was gone for about an hour, and someone tried to break in the house through the back door. Waiting on the cops to show up! Gun in hand, and hubby is home. Nothing seems to be missing, but my nerves are a wreck!

Sherriff just showed up, be back later.

Lexington Park, MD

Oh my gosh Linda. I would be shaking in my shoes. And then get red hot mad. Hope nothing was taken.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

OMG LK! Hope they're able to pull some prints!! How scary!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Well, nothing is missing, but we were told, because we live on the border, there has been a rash of break ins because of the increase of heroin being sold.
Times likes this, wish I was back in Michigan.
Be back later it is Bailey's time!

Baton Rouge, LA

Oh LK... you've had a rough time lately... Hugs and Prayers... hope they catch those guys... Can imagine it'll have you on edge till they do....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, wow lot of action on your side of the border, lady saved from the black hole/Niagara Gorge, thank goodness the tour boat was near by..then a fireman/ex soldier in an accident fighting for his life..let's hope both survive!

Omg LindaKay, what scares me the most is that you had a gun in your hand although I know you are quit capable...fear for you! Drats you've had quite a day..glad hubby is there with you!

thunder she's adorable....

Susan you are both my prayers, sooo hoping both you and Bob get calls this week.

VERY UPSET today, found out no deli. Lol
Was funny a young man sat on a bench for ages, kept playing with his phone, I told Suzanne I was guessing he'd been stood up and I should take a break and go comfort him..might be the first time he'd been stood up...

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thanks, Betty - I hope so, too!
hmmmmm think maybe the young man works at a deli? Could be, y'know!! roflmfao!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lol Susa, just a bit older than my grandkids so unless he has a grandpa that owns a deli!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I said "works" at a deli.... not "owns" it LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm laughing Susan, can see me at the grocery store deli, eyeing the men to see if any compare to Crissy's or Debbie's deli guys

Betty, mine isn't actually a "deli" man...he is more of an electrician/security systems man. BUT was using it as a reference like Crissy did. However, I have known mine since I was 14! lol

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

well then - and electrician makes loads of $$ here......
It's like Bob said, when he was getting an estimate for gettng body work done on his truck "we're in the wrong business!!"
btw - not his fault - a young woman with 4 kids (not her own) was driving her aunt's car and got distracted by the kids. Smucked Bob's truck on the driver back panel. If he hadn't been paying attention and sped up to get past her, she would have smucked him at his driver's door! He "adjusted his speed" to get past her......
One place wants to charge 1700+ and he just got a 2nd estimate for $1200+. Once he has an agreeable estimate, he will pass the info on to the woman and she will pay it. He just plain out didn't agree with the 1st estimate.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Susan, hope Bob did not get hurt?
Debbie, how was your dinner and cake?

Lyndonville, NY

Dinner was nice, not cracker barrell...but a very good attempt.

The cake...was so good, but it is so hot it melted and almost slid off the bottom layer! I didn't care....taste soooo good!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Linda - Bob is just fine - no bumps or bruises and he's moving great.
The body work estimate he got said they'd have to have his truck for 4 days, and Bob thinks the estimate includes a car rental, but I don't think so - we just got it via email, and that's not part of it.
They're not going through insurance so I don't know what's going on. The woman agreed to pay for the entire amount.
Maybe she'd pay for a rental? Dunno.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I would sure hope she pays for everything!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

It doesn't include a rental, but I've asked Bob to check with her

Victoria Harbour, ON

Goodness Susan, life just gets better for you doesn't it..thank the Lord nobody was hurt..luckily Bob was not hurt...many road fatalities these past says on our highways. I would hope if insurance covers repairs that she should cover vehicle use! Not cheap and being a mom with young children and having to borrow a car doubtful she can pay!

Mary hoping you are feeling better today, perhaps saying home an extra day will help, besides, loved having you chat on the day shift.

Judy how did your work day go?

Dianne, have both you and Warren in my prayers..you booth must be feeling the heat..

Bev, waving and looking for out photo of the day..

Laura, you sewing today

Barb, when does Norm start the new job...oooh only about a month left before your visit..see me smiling?

Liz, you there?
Anyone I missed? Will gab when I get to work,

Lexington Park, MD

So beautiful Bev. A wonderful way to start my day. Thank you. How is the wrist doing?

Had a great phone conversation with Judy last night. She makes me laugh so easily and I just love her to pieces.

We are planning on leaving here on either Sat or Sun the 20th/21st of Aug. Betty. I want to make a stop at Mittsy's if she is going to be around and then I think we will head toward to Canadian border. We will stay overnight and cross into Canada and hopefully meet Thea. I haven't heard from her in quite a while so I'm hoping she is okay. Then it's on to Kingston and I'm praying we can meet with Dianne. And then my friend it's on to YOU and Ann. So I'm thinking it would be either Sunday night or Monday that we would be there. Nothing is written in stone and Norm and I both want to take it as fast as we can but still take the time to see a few places along the way. I have already started to get things together.

Glad to hear that Bob is okay Susan. What next? You two have put to the test this year that's for sure.

Laura, it looks like the kids were having a really good time at Jellystone. Great choice. Do you bring any quilting handwork with you?

Sean just arrived for the day. I'll check back in later. ~~~Waving to all~~~~

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Bev, how did it go with your catheter? How is thew wrist healing? Beautiful flowers!
Can't wait to see what Halloween decoration idea's Betty comes up with for Laura!

Well, neither of us slept well last night. Just kept waking up with every little noise. So naps are in order for sometime today.
Laura, what are you sewing on?

Barb, sounds like you have your trip all planed out!

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

LOL Betty and Susan!!! I don't mean to braaaag but my deli dude owns the deli, hopefully he's still with me here, it's been forever since I've seen him, or seems like forever anyway. Iye yey yey. Onward!

Oh Susan that sucks! Why isn't he going through the insurance, unless she doesn't have any? Maybe her aunt's insurance doesn't cover for other drivers???

Glad your wrist is doing good Bev, Here's hoping the heart whatever they're going to do goes super well for you too!

Barb how exciting for you and Norm for you trip!! Sounds like you're getting it all planned!
