Tomorrow my DH is going to patch our roof (special mobile home roof patch) cuz we got leaks for the first time in 5 years!
I'm going to go planting flowers at Marlene's - got some fuschia coloured carnations - beautiful, and perhaps the Cedar. She may not want it, but I know Just Where the carnations will go. I got a "BYGOF" at Home Depot, so got 4 plants. 2 for me, and 2 for her.
She's not sure where she'd put the cedar, but I know where I'd plant it if she doesn't want it. It was a last minute purchase on my part - only $11.50 for a $35 plant. Only had a bit of the bottom dried, so it's still a good looking plant. I'll have to figure out how tall it would get. It's 2 1/2 ft tall now, and it looks like it will grow up, not spreading....

Well good morning to all.
Coffee is on.
Trip was great and will go back and read posts.
Really hard to get internet let alone cell reception up in the montains.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good Morning!!

I haven't had a week that busy since I did end of year in December and January. That was nuts!

Those whirligigs used to be sold everywhere, before me and my parents moved out of CA I got my mom a Foghorn Leghorn one and a Silvester one, the best gifts I ever got her!

LOL Mary you feel me girl! No it wasn't a sandwich night, wish it would have been! I got so mad last night after I got off of the computer, here I have the most awesome man chasing me, or I think he's still chasing, if I don't talk to him for 2 days he'll make a point to talk to me, he's the best thing that has EVER came along in my whole life and I can't do a thing about it because I'm married to what seems to has turned into a deadbeat and I cannot get this man out of my head, I just want to run to him and enjoy every second with him. It's completely wrong but I don't even care. Yesterday morning he started this chat about lazy employees and we had a 2 hour chat session about that, then yesterday afternoon I started one when I finally got my desk clear at 3pm I told him. He said, "So what are you going to do now??" (He's going to see Soundgarden in concert in Denver on Monday) so I said, joking of course, "Well, I think I'm going to see Soundgarden!" He said, "hahahahahaha you would have a blast!! But it's on Monday... And a long ways away." then we started talking about hard rock bands and had that chat for another 1 1/2 hours. What am I gonna do??????????

Anyway, I need to spray my plants for bugs again today, maybe Dave will get up pretty soon and mix some malathion for me. I need to do some weeding too but I am less than motivated on that lol.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, a sunshine morning at that!

Slow moving because I virtually got all the major cleaning done yesterday so it's a do what you want to do day' for me! I've called Greg already, oops woke them up..they are on their way to Barrie this morning, told him I found a headboard I wanted, going back with proper measurements and if I purchase it, it needs a ride home. Lol. 'today??'. Yes Greg, I'm much like you, if I want it, I want it now. Lol

My SIL Marg last week was rushed to the hospital, she has a cracked skull and couldn't do anything especially as she is prone to blood clots, so, was restricted to bed! saw the doctor yesterday and they said she could do a bit, but not a lot so thought I might pick her up for the afternoon!

Susan, how did you make out at the job interview, did you get good vibes? Big job for Bob, but something that needs done before the winter comes!! Best be on guard for his needs, you wouldn't want him falling off the roof with no one around..those trees certainly can grow a height!

Crissy, where or where would one start..no can give much advice..what I can say is you have to finish one relationship before starting another. YOU are hurting right now because you are doing all you can to keep things afloat financially and not feeling appreciated.

That being said, of course you will take all the flattery to heart, it's what you need right now. If kismet/fate is meant to be with this man I'd say wonderful BUT, nurture the friendship until you've decided what
Your present situation should be, revive or laid to rest!!

Is this gentleman married? That is to be considered as well, you'd not want to be the one to destroy her marriage, her family because he also is not giving her the love and attention she needs...if not, then I'm sure he'll enjoy the 'hi's and how is your day' until you are free to go further!

It certainly won't be easy but you really do need to access your present situation, decide if you truly love Dave and he you, if it's just a rough patch or if it's a marriage that is winding down?

One thing, and you did ask for our views, is Crissy, since a teen have you ever lived on your own?? I think the most enlightening part of the trials I've had since Roger's death is that in order to be what someone else wants I first had to know who 'Betty' was...I did learn too late...but now, after being alone for many years do know, puts new perspective on things! Soooo my suggestion is if you do put an end to your marriage then take some well deserved time to be and learn all about 'Crissy'! I know that finances are a concer but as changes in your life entails marriage, it might also have to have housing changes or part time work..you are a highly intelligent young lady, I'm sure you won't let your hormones rule your head until it's time...you asked and I replied!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - it's a flat roof (trailer...) and it's one storey of course.
The job interview went fine - good vibes, and they're trying to get the ability to determine their own pay rate, but it's tied into Alberta Health, so that's something they've been trying to do since before I applied. They said they got more applicants than they expected. I have no idea where I stand. They will let me know Thurs/Friday this week.
Bob will find out about his application early this week (Mon/Tues?).
We hope to go camping from 22nd to 29/30th. I sent off my registration for those dates at the campsite.

Darn - my bank website is down (they're working on the site...... )

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty yes I did ask and THANKS!!!!! I lived on my own for years, I'm an only child and really enjoy being alone. No he's not married, he's divorced with a 4 year old son. He knows I'm married and knows my whole story and he told me to not worry about it that he's not going anywhere. Makes me wonder if he's waiting for me. I'm not putting an end to my marriage, nor am I going to do anything that I'm going to regret, unless Dave just flat refuses to work and/or keeps treating me like this, then I will because I just can't put up with it. I need Dave to stop being a girl, I'm tired of being the man of the house. This property is too big for me to take care of by myself and I'm in love with it. BUT my finances would be better if I was alone because I wouldn't have to pay for someone who is bringing in nothing. Dave doesn't look at me, touch me, hug me, we haven't done anything physical for probably 2 months and maybe longer and it's getting quite boring. He is so into him and how pretty he is he just pays no attention. We're both ate up by mosquitoes and ants and fleas in the grass it's insane and all Dave says is, "I have bug bites all over me!!" I say, "I do too." He says, "But they're itching ME!" I say, "I itch too because of them." He says, "But you don't understand, they're biting ME!" By this time I'm mad and I say, "Oh please get over yourself in your pretty little head, you're not all that Dave and the world does NOT revolve around you!" then we go through this pouting thing. Makes me want to puke!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

crissy - I totally understand the "not touching" thing. My ex would not touch me for 1 year at a time...... and he used to ask me to go to sleep 1/2 hour before him so he could sleep (he didn't want me touching him, either).
This is one reason why we're not married anymore! Go figure, with some men, eh?
Now I'm married to someone who appreciates me and does not "leave me on the shelf, waiting" I Will Not be ignored and waiting!!!
I wasn't married to a "pretty boy" however, and Thank Goodness LOL
You have to do what's right in your head and heart, dear crissy - just remember that we all love you!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Susan it's worse than going to bed before the other person, he has never slept with me, we have separate bedrooms! I bought a king size bed so he would sleep with me and he still doesn't. Dave's always 'too hot' for us to touch or hug or anything else, even in the winter with snow on the ground.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Back from town, lordy she's a scorcher!! Bought the headboard the the back bedroom, never negotiate but today I did and saved $50.00...of course that meant I could go to a garden center and spend my savings...not much in the 2 up here, almost dead, heat has all but baked them, no wonder mi e are doing poorly..

Had a few things I needed in Home Depot and their plant area isn't closed but likely by end of weekend it will..they had some hearty wreigelia's, varied flower colors so bought 6..reg. $14.99 on for $5.00
They will not bloom this year but next year I'll enjoy them. don't know about you guys, I've purchased 3 different sprinklers since spring and all are not working properly..bought another that has touch 8different sprays, let's hope it gets me through the season..figured I might as well stop at the quarry for more mulch..thought it would look pretty in the Secret Garden' and while I was at it picked up another trunk load of flat rock.that should be the end of it..thought to myself Much too hot to cook' so got Chinese..quick trip to veggie/fruit stand and here I is, time for a nap!!

Got home and there was a note. 'do you not know when the A/C is on doors and windows should be closed!!! For sure Greg was here..he just called to find out where he was to pick up the headboard.

Crissy, glad to read that you are on the right track..just got to find out where Dave's head is at..

Susan, let's hope this week you both get good news with regards to the jobs..are the park sites like our Provincial Parks, almost have to book a year ahead?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

We're very very hot today. Too hot to be outside but I was outside anyway, went to sit under the three big white oak trees and sat in a bunch of ants. There are ants everywhere so gave up and walked around the yard, found about 5 june bugs flying over my leaf compost pile, they were interesting lol Just trying to get some 'me' time, think I desperately need it, I'm not sure if Dave is the problem or if I'm the problem causing Dave to be the problem. I just don't know! LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Don't second guess tousled Crissy..get yourself a good book, a drink and mellow out somewhere..must some little corner of your world you could find shade..

A few weeks ago I bought a syrup type drink for the 3 large ant hills out back, must go to check and see if it did the trick..think down south it's fire ants right? Not good to step are sit in!

Can't believe the day is almost over..need to be productive in at least one project..only place I didn't touch yesterday was under the kitchen cabinet..might do that until it's cooler tonight.

LindaKay you asked me about the vine..would you believe in that back
Outhouse/flower bldg. I made that thet have started to grow..need something for them to climb on..imagine, no sun, forget to water and they live

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty we have big red fire ants, itty bitty black wood ants that will bite the tar out of you, huge black carpenter ants, tiny red ants, medium size black ants, flying ants, you name the ant and we probably have it. I'm not trying to second guess, just running it all through my head.

I have a tomato plant that's growing wild and it doesn't get any sunlight or water and it just keeps on growing! the strangest thing I have ever seen!

Verona, ON

Oh Crissy I am reading shades of my first DH loud and clear in your posts.I found it interesting that my first DH changed in a blink of an eye starting the day we were married.Before that he was very loving and a great hugger.I tried to get him to talk or to go to counselling and he wouldn't, so I ended up walking out with nothing but me and my shreded self esteem.Please at least try and get Dave to talk it out, if he absolutely won't take care of yourself and the sooner the better.

Was going to give the second screen door we assembled last week another coat of paint. Too darn hot for that so will do it early in the am tomorrow. It is hung so it will be easy to slap a coat of paint on it. Too hot to have the doors/windows open today anyway. I know officially that it is hot because Stormy does not want to go out and stay outside.He and Quill are each curled around a floor vent. The cats Streak and Sassy aren't quite as considerate as they are laying right on the floor vents. DH asked me if the AC was working properly. lol

Barb meant to say they other day Whooooo Hooooo for Norm and his new job. Will you still be able to get away for your holiday?

BBL
Dianne

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Afternoon everyone. Betty, sounds like you had another busy day. Why does Marg have a cracked skull? Did she fall?

Crissy, I have been in your shoes too, and all I can say if follow your heart. Try to sit him down, and tell him how you feel. He probably has no clue. Then go from there.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy went out and checked the ant hills and still ants crawling around so gave them another dose..thank goodness no little kids running around..would be dangerous!

Kyle dropped in for an hour, them Greg, I must have been shopping longer than I thought, they had delivered the headboard without me knowing..all are going to Wasaga Beach, taking the monster bikes as of Monday 2 of the 3 are being painted and won't be able to all go together for a few weeks while paint cures so it's today or not! I think it's far too be out doing the beach.

Dianne, are you finding it's a chore to keep the gardens from burning...most of me pretties are laying on the growing and the others all but spent...certainly nowhere as nice as last year..

Sailor is feeling the heat, the kitties are downstairs where it's cooler.

Dianne, would imagine if you painted today it would almost dry on the brush before reaching the door

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, feeling much like you are in the south, all the effort I've spent on the gardens gone, drying up and burnt...hot but still not as hot as your neck of the woods..better not complain, that white stuff will be here before you know it then we'll be wishing for this heat.

Yes, Marg passed out and hit her head, think with all her health issues they should have kept her awhile, she's a year younger than Roger, he'd be 68 Monday..same day as our Debbie! I'll see if she's well enough to come tomorrow..

Are you doing a lot of swimming LindaKay?

Verona, ON

LOL Betty about painting - that's going to be my story about why I didn't paint today and I'm stickin to it!!!
Thank goodness I water from the lake. Yes Betty everything is flopping from the heat including me. I have 10 mater plants in buckets on the west facing deck plus several boxes and hanging baskets - those I have to water twice a day or they would be scorched beyond belief.
Aw poor Sailor - I can't remember does she have a long coat? With my Sams their coat acted as protection against the heat but with my other long haired dogs over the years it sure hasn't.
Just finished making Butterscotch Carmel pudding thatnks to Jello. Sure tastes good and I know DH will eat that. Today I encouraged him to have ice cream with fresh strawberries for lunch - he didn't mind that at all.AT least he has something in his tummy now.
There's the dinger on the washe so I had better get moving.Betty are you on that Peak Saver progrmme with Hydro. They were wanting to get all rural and small places onto it before they started it in the cities. I don't really see much difference but my DH says I am Hydro Police anyway. I hate someone leaving lights on in a room when the leave.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, glad I'm not the only one fighting to save the plants..think it's a losing battle..wish I had butterscotch pudding, might mean a trip to Foodland,! Been years since I made pudding,, Not much in cupboards since I threw 2 bags out yesterday! Hard to find something that Warren will enjoy and keep down I bet..when you find something best stock up

When my kidneys failed years ago and I spent almost a year in the hospital, down to 82 lbs. They tried everything..then they brought in something that most coolant keep down, monitor donuts covered with the white icing powder, doctors couldn't figure out how I couldn't keep even water down and yet these donuts...
Yes, I'm on the smart meter, not doing anything differently than I did before...every bill I get a smilee face to show me how well I did..even since last year equal final bill I have almost $300 credit...think because I work and am on my own is the resin for my doing so well!

Much too hot to paint..too hot to even sit outside

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, meant to add, Sailor is a border collie, heavy coat especially in the haunches..every year she pulls all her hair out..a few weeks ago when she started I shaved her hind...looks terrible but much better for her. You know it's hot when the furies don't even want to play

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Afternoon everyone or should I say good evening? It's going on 6 pm and I ahven't done a darn thing today. I played with some fabrics and then went visiting with some quilting friends. We were going to sew but ended up just sitting and chatting the whole time. I was there for 4 hours. It was great to chat with ladies who have the same likes as myself. I took the 3 cut block to show them. They really liked it.
Dianne, yes, our trip is still on. Norm told them at his interview about the trip and they said it would be no problem. I'll be heartbroken if we have to cancel now!!! Besides, I have a swap to bring to Betty and something for you too - a surprise.
Crissy, I wish had some words for you. It is a hard situation you are in but I must confess, I don't understand your marriage. You say you have never slept together and he isn't affectionate. Why did you get married? I'm a bit confused. But my only advice would be to follow your heart and to follow Betty's advice too. You need some alone time I think to set your priorities. I know I would have never stood for the way he is treating you.
My daughter just called and is coming for dinner so I'll talk more later.
~~~Waving to all~~~~~
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
We go to our little blue pool almost everyday. Are feels nice and refreshing.
Barb, how are your eyes healing?
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)
I just tried to sit Dave down at dinner and talk to him, told him how I felt and that I'm seriously stressed about this and he said what he's applied for, already knew that, told him that I wish there was something he could do in the mean time while he's waiting for his buyer position (knowing he has about 20 different options) and he turned the whole thing around on me, told me that it's my college degree that's putting us in debt because I'm not getting paid for it, it's my fault for not asking for a raise, it's my fault for working there to begin with because the girl before me who had been there for 11 years made $18 an hour, it's my fault it's my fault it's my fault. THEN I wonder why I like Scott. OMG!!
I'm going to catch up with the thread.
Victoria Harbour, ON
LindaKay,, they have one next door, often in it..can here them out there now...it's nice to have somewhere to get refreshed..Greg lives nearby and has a pool/ hot tub and of course Georgian Bay at the end of my concession but I guess I'm too lazy to go to either. Talking about lazy, brought some home for supper and don't even have energy to go eat..shouldn't be so hard on myself, after all I worked step to step with BIL Robert moving much of the office..no wonder I ache all over..Greg saw my arm, then my limping because of toe and gave me the what for AS he ate the bag of cherries I just bought!!
Next weekend is Elvis..bought a ticket for Marg and Cathy..Marg I can't see shell be able to attend, Cathy has friends celebrating their anniversary which she feels she must attend so guess on Sunday it will be Ann and I..about 12 hours of Elvis..who knows, maybe Saturday I could take Marg and Cathy for a few hours..that's next weekend gone.
Barb, if you think Norm would be disappointed just imagine how I'd feel..Sooo looking forward to it! What kind of vehicle will you be driving...need room for all the goodies you'll bring home
Debbie, you've been quiet, so worry about you..any results from doctor..know they did blood tests, sometimes that gives clues.
Bev, how are you dealing with the heat..have a photo for you, little pretty was bidding
Laura, meant to ask this morning if you've any photo's off Jellystone?
Drats, almost feel like there is a bug walking around in my ear, could he be traveling from my forehead!
Off to try and find the link I had re Jeff's kayak trips I can follow his daily journal..must be on work computer...hmmm must be somewhere I can find it
Victoria Harbour, ON
Doesn't sound Crissy like he"s willing to bend Crissy..sending you hugs.. Don't know what to say...not important what I say because ultimately it is you who has to make a decision
of how you want to live...not easy being alone but not easy being married and still living alone
Dianne made me hungry for something yummy..going to find it either here or at the store. Lol then I shall post a few photo"s if I can muster some energy!
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)
Betty the only true way to get rid of ants is bleach, and this isn't a guarantee. When one nest gets damaged or poisoned or whatever they just move to a different location, usually just a few yards away from the first one. If you focus all of your energy into killing ants you'll die a very unhappy person, don't do that. I've never heard of anyone dying of ants, when a child feels that first pinch they usually know to vacate the area and it ends up being an itchy bite. Don't waist your time or money on that.
LOL Barb, we sleep together for the 10 minutes it takes for you know what that happens maybe once every 3 months, other than that he does not share a bed with me, never has. I thought that buying a king size bed would help him sleep with me but it hasn't, I sleep in the king size bed by myself. Before we got married he slept with me in a queen size bed then wonders why his first marriage ended up like brother and sister DUH!!!
Betty my friend in Utah shaves her long hair cats every summer so they don't pull their fur out, maybe that's what you need to do with Sailor. I hope Marg is ok! That's dangerous as all getout!
We're 109* today so I know about the plants. My hydrangeas are all burned on top and there's nothing I can do, they've always thrived where they're at, this heat is just insane.
LOL Barb all I've done today is sit on this computer and played games! Ha ha!!
Victoria Harbour, ON
Itchy just thinking of them Crissy...
Bell seems to be working on Missy, only found I poor little mouse other than that no birds at my door..from time to time I hear her bell, if I can hear it I'm sure the birdies can!
I shave just about 1/2 of her Crissy, that's where she pulls for hair out..time to give her another little shave..she was getting tired when I did it the other day so I stopped..
Took a few photo's
Think what I'm most upset about is I wanted Barb to see my pretty gardens, from the looks of it I'll have to go purchase plastic flowers and put them here and there..lol
Baton Rouge, LA
Hello To All !
Betty - it's gorgeous ! No need for plastic... Think we have the same daylily... mine long since done blooming.... what are the yellow flowers - daisies?
Susan... think that was the same roof patching job Dad was going to do with DS...they didn't get a chance because it has to be dry for 24 hours after its applied... but would have been a good job for him....
Crissy - Hubs and I have a ongoing joke about Soundgarden... he had me believing when we were dating that they were playing at the local festival we were at. I'm still naive....
I'm joining you today in the "She Woman Husband Haters Club"....
Hubs has been so sweet and missing me all week. He comes home 6p tonight.... and starts B*(&Tching about the pool being green. Well... what was I supposed to do ? it's been raining all week, I've been gone 2 nights this week... ONE night bringing his daughter to a Musical... I've had a long work week... and I've kept the house up, etc.
He has backed down. then I forgave him a little. He brought me back a sanddollar... it was broken... I could tell he was upset. plus some other trinkets that were ugly as could be but he was so proud of.
Then I finally got a chance to take a bath without Belle... and she tears up something in our room that meant a lot to me... HE WAS supposed to be watching her....yes - HE picked up the mess....
(Screaming)....
(now quiet) ........Thank you ladies for letting me VENT !
Went to Hibiscus Meeting today. I'll post the pictures of the Contestants for the "Display Your Hibbies" contest. I did get a little attention for one of the 3 hibbies I brought to the meeting... a Cosmic Ray bloom today looked like a 'double' but it's only supposed to be a 'single'....
Hugs,
Mary
geeze - they come out looking so tiny, Mary..... same for anyone else?
Betty - you asked about booking camp sites - if I booked Provincial parks I suppose it would be difficult however we book private campgrounds and there are a lot in AB. I realize there are a lot in ON too, but don't know the per capita amount......
Baton Rouge, LA
Yup Susan... I can't enlarge them either.... any suggestions? The pics were taken with my iphone...
Don't know about campsites...but I had a "TV Commercial shoot" on MOnday at a local State park and OMG>.. I never realized how much was offered.... so nearby.... there are so many opportunities for cabins and RV hook ups... Laura... I'll have to post the website... hang on.....
http://www.crt.state.la.us/parks/itickfaw.aspx
Laura - you'll have to come check this out... and Betty too..... so close to me and many great things to see close by... Blue Bayou Water Park for the kids...plantation homes... etc...
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
ah - Mary - it would be because they were taken on your i-phone. If you can open them in a photo editing program, you can increase the size. As I don't know why program you'd use, I can't assist.....
We're definitely going camping on July 22 to 30th (dependant upon the weather.....).
Baton Rouge, LA
Hubbys gone to the sofa in the livingroom... I'm about to head to bed. I'm so tired... Hugs to all Mary
Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)
Major thunderstorm here - all power went out for 1 minute, then back on. Then we had several siren go off. I figure if they were driving on the highway near here, and the street lights went out (EVERYTHING was black), that would be automatic vehicle accidents. Heard about 5 sirens.......... do hope everyone's ok!
Lexington Park, MD
Susan I hope all are ok.
Mary I saved the site and will go back and look.
I have to tell you all a story....when we go the camper we went through a 2 hour hands on inservices on how everything works.
When the tech got to the awning he said not to leave it out when you leave the camper. My DH bought lights to hook up to the
awning when it is out. They clip to the end when it is unrolled. Well all the trips we have made we put them out once. DH kept asking when are you going to put the lights on.
We do not stay at the camper long enough to put lights on. And when we go to sleep the awning is to be in. Well this past Tuesday while camping we had a storm. Wind and alot of
rain. We all go in the camper (awning is in) and loose power. Stops raining. We go walk around the campground to see how long until poer comes on. And we come across a camper unit
with the awning ripped off just hanging there. DH looks at me and says "now I see why you leave the awing in". Men.
Coffee is on.
Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)
Morning all, scorcher here today as well..just getting my coffee and out I go to water everything before the heat of the morning..I'll make you one if you've time to sit??
Bev, disappointing isn't it to love the gardens, put so much effort in it only to have mother nature challenge us with extreme heat and not get the entire summer enjoying, gee whizz it's only mid July, we usually get to at least early September... thinking of getting a tote out, and cut all the spent flowers and save the seeds!
Laura, when we spent 1/2 the winter in Bonita Springs Florida we would do the same until I bought as a Xmas gift the screen room that attached, then it was large metal in ground secured bars so we could leave it up but was always worry . Sounds as though you are all enjoying your summer...kids will remember the times they've had..memories made doing so are the best.
Susan, exciting about the trip into Montana at the end of the month, how long of a journey will it be?
