Sports Talk!! Part 7

Thomaston, CT

Yes! I agree.....I wonder how much of the actual coaching he was doing....

South Hamilton, MA

Good News! the kidnapped baseball player in Venuzuala was found alive. Dangerous country to be for famous people, although there evidently are many kidnappings. Grateful for what we have here.

Thomaston, CT

A happy ending! Watched my champion Huskies play Columbia last night.....they didn't play like champs, unless Columbia is a top ten team!

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

DD let me know that her college won today. that's the 3rd one this year.( football, div 2)

South Hamilton, MA

Glad that the season ends on a high note. Kids work hard at sports, there ought to be some success.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Congrats.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Hubby brought his Penn State jacket down to Baltimore and had to go shopping to buy a new coat he certainly wasn't going to be wearing that now

The whole thing just boggles the mind

Thomaston, CT

Just horribly sad.....

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sounds like no NBA season - great! Have no sympathy for any of them - players or owners. All greedy. Maybe hockey will take advantage.

Thomaston, CT

Wish Kemba Walker had stayed at Uconn for another year...he did graduate in 3 years, but he couldv'e taken grad courses......

South Hamilton, MA

It's the little people who are hurt, stadium workers, front office workers, people who run restraunts nearby etc.

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

Given baseball's past problems with labor, I find it ironic that baseball, of all the major sports, seems to be headed toward the most stable labor agreement.

Thomaston, CT

Good for them....do you like the Astros in the AL west?

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

I'm not sure how I feel about the big changes like realignment, adding more interleague games, and adding playoff teams.

I suppose having the Astros in the AL West will create more of a rivalry between them and the Rangers so that should be fun for baseball in Texas.

I guess I'm against the extra playoff team but I was also against the Wild Card when they started that and I've grown to appreciate how it has made the regular season relavent for more teams.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

So what was the point of moving the Brewers to the NL??

Thomaston, CT

Good question.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Now an investigation of an asst basketball coach at Syracuse for molestation. I am sure there are more at 'powerhouse sports schools'.

South Hamilton, MA

Moving Brewers was supposed to even thins up there. I think it's good to have them & the cubs in the same league. It used to be that way when the Braves played there.

Thomaston, CT

Saw on the SNNY trailer that each league will add a wild card.....

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

cubs beat the sox on our manager choice - epstein tweaked lucciano when he mentioned they are in the 9th inning of thier search while announcing the new manager - lucciano earlier had said sox were in thier 4th inning of thier search
they are still fighting over compensation for theo leaving early - sounds like a nice little fight going on

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Why was LaRussa not mgr of the year?!!!!

Thomaston, CT

Who was?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Gibson of Arizona.

Thomaston, CT

LaRussa was more deserving. I didn't think the Cards were going anywhere at the start of the season...he rallied them.

Sacramento, CA(Zone 9a)

The Diamondbacks weren't expected to be very good either though. And the Cardinals have a lot more star power than the D-Backs so they should have done better than they did for most of the season.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

See that fight between Cincinatti and Xavier basketball teams?? So disgusting. The main ones should be banned from playing. The prosecutor said he is considering charges. Hope he does, but doubt it.

South Hamilton, MA

At least suspensions have been handed out & the UC senior has apologized. Constant trash talk gets everyone riled up. They should be encouraging their own teamates.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The guy who apologized was the worst offender, though. He sucker punched the center of X, punched another player and danced around with his fists up like he was Ali. It was utterly disgusting. I would ban him for good. Then he cries at the apology because people called him a thug and a gangster!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

suspend them for the year - what do they think basketball is hockey?

South Hamilton, MA

The NHL has much to answer for. Now they are debating whether to stop the fights, Dropping gloves & here we go--should have taken up boxing.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i played hockey and had my share of fights - it is the culture of the game

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

It would survive just fine without them. I always found it interesting that there were hockey fans who are really into the fights, yet not into boxing at all!

South Hamilton, MA

Not the culture of the international game. Just NHL & should not be for kids & parents. Remember the dad who was killed in a fight several years ago. Not necessary!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes I do. Crazy.

Thomaston, CT

Very bad for any sport....I agree to a year's suspension....

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i will agree with that Lucy - fighting over a 10 yr old's game is crazy - i knew a couple kids who had parents like that growing up and was just amazed that most parents just ignored the behavior and that was on the little league field not in a hockey rink - of course that was probably the beginnings of the hockey parent fight in Wakefield

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Pretty funny SNL skit on Tebow.
