Oh Laura, is he allergic to bee stings..do you carry meds? Now he'll have to set himself beside you, cuddle in and get better..not good! Not sure why this year but everyone who has been bitten by something has such a strong reaction to it..look at me, forehead still infected.
You are more than welcome, salad looks scrumptious and colorful..have enough for 10 and there is just me lol you just never know when one might drop by..but, you'd have to cook the steak, I'm hoping I don't burn it..
Very hot outside, sat near the pond with gardens books, then moved under the gazebo, then upstairs on back deck, slowly working my way inside.. later this evening I'll get all the watering done and maybe just a tad of gardening.
SIL Marguerite called and asked if I could give her a ride into Barrie tomorrow..not a problem, just remembered I'm starting a 1/2 hr. sooner so must call her back, need to leave earlier.
Best/worse/what did I learn today?chat with friends..
This is his first run in with the biting insects.
I would be happy to cook the steaks.
Very hot and humid here even after a small rain.
Need to try and finish quilt blocks......
We haven't had any rain and gardens are dry again even after I watered like crazy yesterday..cool here in the basement, sewing machine is out, should really maybe see if I could make a couple..I've yours left and am baffled...know you said scrappy, but what is scrappy again, might have asked you that awhile ago..did you say maroons??? old mind, should have done them back then and I'd not have to ask you again. I'm anxious to the the civil war one..ordered a pattern on-line called, 'letter to home' every thing is sitting out, should get at it..think Barb is busy at it as well..well see how the evening progresses..
Maybe it being the first time he's had a reaction you may have to keep a needle on hand just incase..better safe than sorry!
I'm antsy, trying so hard to sit down and relax but it just isn't working..Darren next door is building a storage shed right next to the fence line and I can hear him talk to himself as he reads the instructions..good for him, most men don't ..lol and his wife Theresa is making a flower bed near back of deck so I feel as though I'm a loafer doing nothing..
Came to get the broom, thought I'd give back deck a fresh wash and saw Jeff's pig sign and it dawned on me I could stencil wire fencing to it and give it a lift...so that's where I'm at..
My only request is no christmas fabric. Just use what you have on hand. I will make a scrappy quilt when all blocks are in.
Sounds easy enough..lol
woooooooooo wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee - dust storm here (remember when I said Calgary is only 3 hours from a drought?) Well, it's sure dusty here now, and the wind is whistling around.and I'm sure it's drying everything out......
so I'll need to water the gardens as soon as the wind dies down.
Well, the wind has died down, but apparently we have T&L storms coming.
Susan, you've got the weather I think of when I think of Cowboys and the stampede...don't you be working outside if the storm blews in..metal of those rakes and shovels...
the "dust up" has passed, and we have regular breezes - no T&L thank goodness, and the sun is out!!
Sure are a lot of large tree limbs around. One distant neighbour says there's a large limb taking 1/2 way across the roadway.........!!
going to get some cedar chips for Marlene's flower garden - cya later, wonderful peeps!
No storm is going to get you down Susan..
Thought I'd check to see if Debbie survived her day???
Wonderful supper, bath time now, feet are aching so it might do them good.
Just thought, tomorrow Paul and Suzanne are in Peterborough so won't be in, the girls now have their own offic ein Penetang so it's just me..should look for my paints and work on the 3 panels for washroom door..would pass the day..
Try to come back to say hi to the night crew, hope I make it!
I sooooo wanted a BBQ tonight but ended up having nuked beef ribs with pork and peans and chopped green pepper made in the crock pot And to add insult to injury that was leftovers from last night. I ended up saying NO, you go ahead and ate a freshly cut cuc samdwich. YUm, Yum!!
Hope you all have seen some wonderous fireworks and even more tonight!
Dianne
Actually Betty - I love storms - the shear power of them is intoxicating!! (as long as they don't do damage!) Even wind can be sooooooooo powerful! I know, I know....... call me foolish, but I've stood outside in a thunderstorm with the wind and rain lashing around me...... Don't get to do that anymore, as we live in a treed park, and they're "self-pruning" so don't want to get knocked in the head with a large branch LOL
Hi!!
Woohoo....Thunder and I met Yesterday!!! Just Love her to pieces.
It's late, I'll be back in the AM with photo's...And tell you all about our fantastic visit.
We just got back home, camera in bike and we are exhausted.
((((((((((((Crissy))))))))))))))) My gosh, so sorry to hear what happened. sure puts some added stress that you don't need.
Hope you are all having a great weekend.
I am home....and alive. The cake made it there in one piece, and after some "emergency" last minute work on it...didn't look too bad. But the icing /lettering bled all over.
Saving grace for the party was three things. FOUR precious little girls running down the driveway "Aunt Debbie". Two big strong nephews coming to help me with everything......and some very close friends that Paul and I went to high school with....wo are neighbors to the In-laws....and also "the childs" God parents....showed up!
Overall, a very nice day.....enough to keep everyone occupied and away from who they needed to be away from.
DH showed up about 4:30...so got some time with his family.I will post pictures tomorrow. I got "sent home" because of all the swelling in my feet and legs.....and now need to go to bed!
Good night and sweet dreams.....see ya tomorrow!
Debbie
Glad you had some "saving graces" Debbie! and glad your cake made it! What was the flavour?
Good to know all your worries about the party were waylaid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Crissy - so sad your DH was a jerk (yes, he was) and so glad that Anita stood up for you ^_^
Obviously it was wrong of him to say, and it was duly noted by others. hurrah for Anita!
Well, DH has an early day tomorrow - although he doesn't have full-time perm work, a friend of his (Bob) asked him to help him with a job out of town (1 day). It's sure good of him to help MY Bob (I have a "confusion of Bob's" in my life LOL)
Time to get a bit of TV time, then off to beddy-byes.
Goodnight all! Hope everyone has a great "4th" (although I know some of you were already celebrating today...)
Susan, the cake was 1/2 vanilla and 1/2 chocolate.....with a buttercream frosting that was SO good. He used a glaze on it first...then the buttercream over the top, and it just added to the flavor.
I am not a big baby fan, but did get to meet and hold my new great niece Zoey....I think she is just under 2 months old.
Well, one more kid to get home...and I can go to bed.
Mary, how you doing?
Bev, lots of hugs for you also.
Shirley, miss you!
Crissy...hang in there, hugs!
Debbie
Morning all, much to do this morning..
Stopping in with a
Happy July 4th to all my American family here on DG..I salute you alll and have my Red/White/Blue displayed on back deck to celebrate the day right along with you...tonight Greg's coming over for a b.b.q. ..
Enjoy your special day..
Gab when I get to the office...starting earlier this morning, have to get into a routine.
Happy Fourth of July! Off to Kingston to see DH's Ortho surgeon and hopefully the pathologist's report will be back.
Enjoy your day everyone!
Dianne
Our thoughts will be with you and your husband Dianne..
Happy 4th to all whether American or Canadian - it's still the 4th and we are all free.
Sending special prayers to all who need them and wishing everyone a great day. It seems so strange to me, Betty and Dianne, to see you post of work days things when everything here stops. Well, maybe not, I was just looking at the ads from the papers and so many places are open for business. How things have changed. The 4th was always a family day for cookouts and parades and band concerts and fireworks. My how it has changed. In any case and whatever your day brings, I hope it is a great one...I'm off to sew for a bit before I go to Stacy's for a cookout.
Not sure why I can't have both days off Barb...sounds as though you are in for a wonderful day..enjoy your cookout...so, how many quilt blocks did you manage to make?
As we live in cottage country the majority of stores were open July 1st.
Judy, you must be tired look at the time and no photo's...I'm so excited that you got to meet Thunder..here I was at her door, met her youngest son but didn't have the opportunity to meet her..perhaps this Christmas I might make another Florida trip and do so.
Debbie, so glad the day went well for you, pressure is off now that this function is over with.
Is your entire family off today?
Wonder how Mary's weekend went?
ooohhh waiting for all the photo's, can't wait!
Happy 4th of July/ Independance Day to all my US friends!!
I hope your day is wonderful, spent doing what pleases you most
^_^
Thank you so much to our Canadian friends!!
Betty I have managed to get seven done. I saw Gloria (Ladybug NH) yesterday and gave her the one I made for her. And of course I forgot to get a photo!! But I'll take one of the others before I mail them. Been cleaning instead of sewing today. I think I may have overdone it a bit yesterday with the eye. It feels tired so today - no close work...
Norm says lunch is ready so I'll check back in a bit later....
All of the men are working today, DH, the SILs and the son.
So we girls have the "party picnic" going on til they get home from work.
Parade was "so so"....glad its over. Now I have to sit and people watch for a bit.
Debbie
Happy 4th of July!!!!
I didn't do anything because of the looks of everyone's faces they saw the writing on the wall, they've all known Dave since he was 18, Greg since they were both 10, so they know him far better than I do as he's now 50, so I just let him talk his way into that deep hole. Sometimes the best way to handle it is to not handle it at all, I didn't want to cause a scene at a friends wedding.
I want to tell y'all, Dave only treats me that way in front of that one group of friends, I never have a problem anywhere else BUT apparently he opened his mouth and stuck his foot in it, I gotta tell ya this is hilarious but you need to know a tad bit of the family history first. Grandpa Joe Ramsey couldn't have kids so Grandma Nellie Ramsey got pregnant 4 different times by what seems to be 4 different guys so her and Joe could have a family. These 4 kids consist of Dave's dad, his Aunt Eller Mae, Uncle Roy, and Uncle Harry. It's no secret that this happened, none of the people look alike at all and Aunt Eller is the only red head in the family, and she produced a bunch of red headed kids herself. I knew nothing of this but about 3 months ago Uncle Roy, who is 71 years old, called Dave and said that he finally figured out who his real father was, Roy Robert Robinson (just so happens that Roy's name is Roy Robert Ramsey, raised by Grandpa Joe and Grandma Nellie.) Dave went over to mow Aunt Eller's lawn about a week later and asked her if she ever found out who her real father was, only so he would know more of the family tree. She said, "My father is Joe Ramsey!" OK, whatever.
Well we found Uncle Grady and Linda at their campsite yesterday and apparently Aunt Eller called Great Aunt Joyce 3 days ago crying her head off that someone told her that she wasn't family and she's not welcome at the reunion. Needless to say that's not true and it pissed Joyce off because she didn't know who would say such a thing and she was going to make an announcement at the reunion yesterday. Funny that Eller was brooding over this for 3 months and Dave goes over to visit her for 2 hours a visit at least twice a week and he never knew she was upset! Dave told Grady and Linda what was really said and that he's just trying to figure out his family tree, so we went over to Joyce's and explained the whole thing to her and we were all cracking up over it because Eller made up this huge drama thing for nothing.
OMG Crissy, what a to do!!! Got to tell you something funny, well not really funny ha/ha but the school in Honey Harbour where my children went had to stop making Family Tree Projects because of who was who or NOT!!!! many did learn a lot and community ended up in an uproar.
Debbie, why wasn't the parade as good as you wanted? not weather right?
Have fun tonight..
Barb, glad you decided to rest your eyes, lordy you got a lot of blocks done..all same or each different??? save mine for when you come.
Looking at the clock, got to run..picking up SIL at 4:15 then back to pick up Suzanne as we leave at 4:30....oh happy days
Bev, how are you doing today, and Scotty???
Gab when I get home
Waving to lurkers and those I've missed
Debbie I'm glad your reunion ended up being good, was worried about that.
Woo Susan, I can't stand dust storms, then again I can't stand dust. Hope you get rain sometime soon, we're dry as a bone here.
You all are so sweet, but to those who know me know I don't take any flack unless it's a better idea too. At the wedding I almost said something then saw 9 people glaring at Dave so I decided to just shut up. LOL
I went out this morning and pulled 2 fence sections of iris, those poor things are so crammed together they're all dying, what a mess! Got to hot so I came in, by that time Dave was up and outside and I didn't know it lol, took a shower, ate breakfast, canned 8 jars of pickles, now we're suddenly in a flash flood warning and there is a lot of booming going on outside, Bring it On! We don't have any fireworks anyway.
We didn't go to the reunion today and it is flat out pouring over them, they are getting a massive thunderstorm! It's booming like crazy out there! We just went into a severe thunderstorm warning so I'm going to get off of this.
Oh Betty, the parade was fine, it was just missing a lot of the key componets we are used to. Certain "floats" and kids missing. It normally lasts a bit over an hour. This one maybe 40 minutes....but in this sun, was long enough! And so many kids away, our marching band was 1/2 the size as should be. Shane was in it....so got to see him in his last High School participations event. He is at work now.
Crissy....that sounds like something from my inlaws! If you knew the story you would crack up....and probably also understand the "stress" related to going over there for family functions. FIL Bob was dating and engaged to Margaret....who is MIL Janis' older sister. Margaret took MIL with her to Norfolk to visit FIL Bob stationed in the Navy. Well....all I am saying is Bob and Janis are married now....and Margaret NEVER has been. So much more in there...but it doesn't get any prettier!
Now look at him Thunder, you can be proud of that young man!! How did you get home so quickly, thought you drove?? Yes, that Judy is a ball of enthusiasm, can't help but love her...
Debbie, sad isn't it when things change and we start saying ' in the old day's. You'll miss all the halaballu that comes with having teens...
Lol, think somewhere in all our families we have some of the same..Roger's brother Rene ran off with my brother's wife Noreen ..rene's wife and I were raised as sisters although we were cousins so this didn't make for good family reunions!
Crissy, you accomplished much on your day off and all before noon!!
You do need the rain in your neck of the woods...why no fireworks?
Guess Paul sent someone to pick up his boat, either that or someone decided to take it lol
At lunch Suzanne and I went to the garden gallery and I bought a new plant, new this year I believe..must take a photo...looks as though someone took pinking shears and cut each leaf, wonder how they make these new breed of plants?
Thunder, you must be so proud of your boys!
Crissy, don't think I would have gone home after the wedding, unless it were to pack my bags! That's pretty bad what he said in front of everyone.
I am back from my trip, nice and quiet here at the house. No parade in our little town, no fire works at all due to the drought and heat. Getting ready to have some hotdogs and baked beans.
Been missing you LindaKay, glad you are back safely...how did your appointment go? Did you have a nice visit with the family?? It has been hot here so I can just imagine how hot it must be...who waters your gardens while you are away?
Crissy - prior to this dust-up, we had loads and loads of rain. So much so that people are still saying "at least it's not raining!!!" No one is complaining about the high winds, nor the dust.
It's only 21c = 70F, but gosh it's hot with the sun blazing down! The humidity is 49% so it's not bad, but sometimes it gets to 29% humidity, THEN it's nasty!!
I was busy today - returning stuff to WM, planting, putting down some cedar chips at Marlene's place, watering my veggie garden and Marlene's flowers, plus my own flower garden.
Went to the church and planted some green leafed "something" at the bottom of the hibiscus tree and put some tree stakes in. Gosh the tree is looking good, but it's NOT budding yet!! I put in 2 tree fertilizer stakes today and I've had a grow light on it for about a month now......... Sure hope it buds soon!!!
bet Susan you are exhausted! That is a lot of gardens you are now responsible for..bet Marlene is thrilled with your loving care of the gardens.
They are calling for rain for the next few days but still reaching high 70's to mid 80's..should really be out watering but will take that on in the morning I'd it's not raining when I leave..
Bit disappointed with my new plant acquisition, it must have been set in amongst the plants that said new this year and from the sounds of it, more a shrub then a perennial...do any of you have one??
http://www.sugarlandgardenclub.org/picture_library/Copper_Plant_Tahitian.pdf
Greg cooked the steaks to perfection, we ate then he ran off to deliver house plans and will be back in 1/2 hour so we can have strawberry shortcake..told me we could invite 6 with the amount of food I had..lol..must learn to cook for one or two but then I was expecting a few of you!
Had a call awhile ago which was upsetting..Aline's brother Jaques lost his wife to cancer about 3 years ago..just before Christmas he re-married, bought one of the biggest rv's I've ever seen and decided to travel Canada and USA...at Christmas he was in Texas, wasn't feeling the best, told him he should come home, both Jaques and his wife took turns driving back..took several days..once he arrived he had tests done..well the big 'c' was at play. A 220 lb. Man now weighed 165.. Aline just got a call that he is nowin a coma and will not likely come out of it...Aline has left for sT. Catharines..about 140 miles from here and will stay until either Jaques comes out of the coma or passes on..Jaques is 64...
July 1st was the 100th anniversary of graduates at this Naval station.....now the only place where boot camp is held for the Navy....
the Place was very impressive, wish we could have taken photos of other things / buildings...but not allowed for security reasons photos were only allowed in very limited places..
That's just a tease Thunder..were you not to take mon/son/dad from the front rather than their backs? Nice photo though..
Impressive academy..what did you find most interesting other than your son's graduation??
Greg just left so heading off to bed as soon as I get one more coat of finish to the pig sign.
Night/night
I would imagine most of the naval and army academy's would have same restrictions
