Here's my honeysuckle trailing plant - this is also the first year it's bloomed! Maybe my flowers like the extreme amount of rain we had this spring, or maybe it's because I've relaxed and my garden knows it lol
Best/worse/what did I learn today?chat with friends..
Shoe? Don't tell me my iPad changed words again. Lol
My mock oranges are all but finished flowering..love the smell, should pick up a few more! Nothing like walking the gardens and smelling that sweet odor..my miniature was just laden with flowers..sad to see it dropping it's peddles!
Went back and looked at photo's from late august of last year, hate to think when Barb & Norm come to visit gardens will all but be finished
Doing well, I planted one beside the birdhouse post, bet I have 2 or 3 flowers..in direct sun so maybe I have to relocate...either that or cut to the ground and see if it grows stronger next year..am loving a look at your gardens Susan!

Won't survive your winter though right? Company here
my goodness - The Weather Network says it's 24c, but my thermometer says 35c/95F........ no wonder even my rhubarb is wilting.......
I've been out setting up my new patio set, and after awhile this am I came inside to have cold lemonade and I'm sure I got some heat stroke - I fell asleep, I was so groggy. It's almost 5:30, and it's HOT - it's actually cooled down, so I wonder what the temperature was at the hottest part of the day....
It's supposed to get hotter tomorrow!!
btw - my new patio set looks great, and the umbrella has the crank for raising/lowering so I can reach it easily. The old one's mechanism was 6' up and I had a horrible time of it. This one tilts too.......
I need to go to the church tonight and paint one small wall with Kilz to block some of the stains so someone else can paint it. The church is cool.
Hello All ! Hello Night Shift !
OMG.... Thunder and Judy look like they've known each other for 100 years... and Thunder writes like Judy too... makes one feel like we are right there with you all. Not to say "Me Too" but I really really did think exactly the same thing that Thunder looks like her mom....
Susan - love your pretty pics ! Wish I could figure out why no one grows lilies here ? guess I'll have to try next year for myself... HAHA to your "Absolute" neighbor ! I'll bet she *never* says that again LOL..
How do you make your Cuke Salad Laura ?
I'm still eating on my Sour Cream Cukes... they still tasted good... so had some for dinner. Had forgotten I had another container of them.
Dianne... HUGE ((HUGS)) for you and I'm still hoping and praying. I don't know what else to say but I am here caring and praying.
Susan when Betty typed "Shoe" I remembered how Bugs Bunny would say something like "we've got a Big Shoe for you all tonight" meaning "Show" LOL.... (was that Bugs Bunny?)
well - I'll check back in a bit. My whooping cough has acted up and going back to Doctor tomorrow.
Hugs,
Mary
Nope, that was Ed Sullivan!
Hope you get some good meds Mary.
There you go LK ! Ed Sullivan ! :o)
Yes - I hope I get good meds too... coughed up a storm right in the middle of restaurant with Dad and his wife... very embarrassing.... I had to excuse myself.....
I'm not calling them tonight... I'm hoping the lack of communication with me is a good thing while Dad is giving some common sense lessons. Was told by someone I trust that DS's biggest problem is ME... because I'm always bailing him out of trouble or babying him...
LK - still so very hot in TX ? We sure are here.
No, Mary - my "absolute" neighbour has been saying this for the 5 years I've known her. One thing she likes to do is Argue, even when she knows she's wrong! I've told her I walk away from arguing and anger, and I actually got quite angry with her one time when I knew she was wrong, and knew she knew.... She did the best she could to apologize LOL Her name is Norma, and I really have one of my best friends in her. It's difficult to change a habit such as she has, so we just ignore it, and I silently laugh (not at her, but at her "absolutes" cuz they're so funny!!)!
we're hot here, too - was 95F today, and supposed to get hotter tomorrow......
LOL Susan... sounds like my sister. DSis is very very smart...much smarter than I... however I once said that I could say "The Sky is Blue" and she would argue that it is green.... :o)
Wow - can't imagine it being so hot in Canada !
After work I was doing some yard work (moving sprinkler, etc) and Belle just ends up swimming around the Pool ! BY HERSELF !
I told Hubs he was creating a monster !
Susan, that is very warm for you up there!
Yeah, it was 99 today, and 101, 102 all this week!
Mary I actually had my DS to the doctor today for a physical and college papers. Told doc the only thing was his temper I was concerned with. He told me to make sure he is accountable for his actions.....if he hasn't learned right from wrong by now....he can pay! DS eyes bugged out not expecting that reply. Doc looked at him and said "What, you want Mom to come to work with you and clean up your messes there too? You are old enough....straighten up!"
I wanted to high 5 him right there (the doc). He was there when my two youngest were delivered and knows us as a family very well....would come visit "the child" in the hospital on his days off (hour drive) to see how we were doing....and awesome man.
Well...I am swollen like a drowned frog.....so heading to bed. I finally get to stay home tomorrow.....and elevate!
Good night and sweet dreams
Debbie
Mary - It gets hotter in the mid-prairies, which is where I'm from - Winnipeg, Manitoba. There, it isn't unusual to get 105F from May to Sept.
Calgary is more temperate, being as how we're in the shadow of the mountains. When the sun goes down in the winter, it gets very cold at 4pm. It isn't unusual to have to wear a parka to go to work, then t-shirt and shorts by the end of the work day. For some reason, the temp always drops at 7am by 1 to 5 deg..... then picks up again - winter and summer.
Chinook winds are the reason for the drastic temp changes we sometimes get.
Debbie - if I had been there, I just would have High 5'd the Dr. LOL good for him!!!!
Debbie - Your reply really
REALLY
Resonates with me.... I mean... DS has not had temper tantrums like he did a year ago... (has your DS "hit a fence" yet?)
Remember when DS was hitting stuff ... so angry. Our nephew did the same recently... (the other Dear Nephew who was to graduate and messed all that up).... and now he is in PT to fix his HAND...
So "High FIve" that DR. for me too... Wish I had a DR. like that. Maybe Grandpa (my Dad) will put forth that kind of knowledge....
Deb - You please stay home and elevate... Please take care of #1 ! We love you and want you to be well... #1 !
Me Too Susan !
Hugs,
Mary
Well I can not sleep.
Coffee is on.
Cuc salad has mayo.vinegar, chopped onion. So refreshing.
My flowers and veggies not doing well in this heat.
Yes kids finished chores and we did the fireworks.
Laundry to do
Morning all, lots of boom/bang here this morning..Dianne imagine it kept you up most of the night..again running late, lots to say but I will do so when I get to the office!!
Grabbed one of your coffee's Laura!
Hot, hot, hot here and humid to boot. Yep lots of T and L - more to come. See, I watered yesterday - it's like washing the car .... rain is sure to follow.
Have already cut the grass, taken the garbage up to the township road for PU and swatted a million skeeters and deer flies. A friend is coming today to help me build a screen door and hang it for the door going into the carpot. That area gets the best breeze of all and I so like fresh air throughout the house. If there is time or if I have an energy left Frank and I willl cut and split some wood.
Thunder I loved, loved, loved all of your pics and you telling us about all of your activities. Must say a shed a tear or two when you were talking about your DH wearing your other son's hat to the Grad ceremony.Looks like you and Judy had a blast!
Laura I habe the worst feeling I did not send you the Cuc and SourCream Salad recipe or the one with Cauliflower and Olives. Let me know, I am will post it tonight for sure, I have the books right here beside the computer.
Neat on the white Iris Susan. All the new Iris bulbs buts one 1 that I planted were eaten by the chippies!Grrrrrr
Mary I am so glad that you were able to get your DS to your daddy's.My DB was spoiled rotten by my mam - the boy you know and paid for it for a couple years as he was maturing. He figured all he had to do was smile and charm any boss who was giving me things to do or was correcting some work and all would be forgiven or heven that he didn't have to do the work required. Worked with mam and his friends why not everyone else!
Oh no Debbie not only is "Sam" a boughten young lady she is turning Ms Izzy into a traitor.lol You make sure you take today and get some rest and a chance to cool down. Muggy where you are too?
LK I just couldn't live with temps like yours - I don't know how you and Mary handle it.
Thanks for your prayers and positive thoughts for my DH. He has to go into Kingston today for a 90 min PreOp apptment so he can have his surgery tomorrow. One would think since he had surgery June 27 at the same hospital and with the same doc he wouldn't need to go wouldn't you? Another waste of medical time that could be put to better use.
Enjoy your day ladies! I'll pop back in a few times to see what you are all to!
Dianne
Morning everyone! Dianne, we will be saying prayers fro hubbys surgery to go well, and a very speedy recovery.
When it gets hot, I just stay inside, or go for a dunk in the pool to cool off! Too hot to do anything else, especially outside.
Betty, how is it going at the new office?
Debbie, why are you swelling up all the time?
This message was edited Jul 6, 2011 7:20 AM
LK I did have a quick dip in the lake this morning and my oh my was it refreshing!!!!! Read chilly! Betty will understand - our lakes take quite some time to warm up.
Thanks for the prayers LK for DH's surgery tomorrow. He is dragging his feet here this morning as he does NOT want to go in for this 90 min Pre Op apptment just keeeps mumbling "This is silly just was in the OR last week someone else needs this apptment more than I do!" He has it in his head that he is going to drive himself into Kingston and I think I will let him as he promised he would call if he had difficulties and I would go in and get him. Still have to be careful with how far I extend myself and I have one of my doozy headaches coming on - so staying home today will be better for me plus give DH the last little bit of independence he is going to have for a long time.
Dianne
Good morning,
Linda Kay...why am I swelling? That seems to be the Million dollar question. The last two weeks I have ran non stop with kids, and couldn't stay home and take the BP and lasix is one thing. But this is worse than ever. SO, not sure. Heat, humidity?? Every time I go to the doctor they yell at me about my weight and won't even try to do anything or send me to cardio ...until I loose weight. It won't do any good.
I was on their 800 calorie diet...and gained 6 lbs the first week. They have said themselves I have no metabolism. SO, I don't know.
Dianne, VERY humid here and it seems our nice breeze left. The last few days have been so nice with that breeze in the house. Are you going to Kingston with DH today? Safe travels regardless.....and stay cool!!
Mary, DS has hit MANY things. And slamming things is just as bad. We told him we were going to take his bedroom door off if he slammed it again. He kicked the railing out on the back porch which now needs re-nailed. He screams in this deep horrible "grrrrr" where the veins in his neck just bulge in anger.....gets all worked up....and stomps out of the house and comes back an hour later like nothing ever happend. I followed him one day....he goes down to the "waterfall" in town and just sits on the bench and watches the geese and swans. Might get a soda.....but calms himself and comes back.
I have told him I understand he is under a lot of pressure (peers, work, college) but that does NOT give him the right to act that way and blow up on others like that.
BRB
Debbie
Dianne sounds like the dip in the lake was a bit cool. Both you and DH will be on my mind and in my prayers tomorrow.
No rush on the recipe you have alot on your plate.
Debbie, you must take your meds with you when your on the run! That's not good to go without your BP or lasix.
Linda Kay, I live out in the country. It is an hour drive to almost anywhere. And taking the meds...well, I spend a LOT of time in the bathroom. IF I am in the car, I can go 20 to 30 minutes with no restrooms in site....but on heavily traveled roads. SO, thats not always an option. BUT I sure understand I need too.
My Dad is on the same meds, so I know what you mean. Glad to hear your home today getting your rest.
Dianne lots of prayers for you and DH sweetie, I don't blame you for wanting him to go alone, he does need that and hopefully he will understand that HE needs this appointment just as much as anyone else.
Have either one of your sons been diagnosed with anything? Don't mean to pry but that sounds kind of bipolarish to me, very very serious but can be controlled.
Susan love love your plants!! It's hot here everyday.
I sent Dave away on a 2 day fishing trip with his best friend Greg! My only worry is if he gets called for a job while he's gone, but I need some peace for a while. He was fighting it tooth and nail, "I'm trying to quit smoking and Greg smokes" but his wife quit smoking and she lives with him. "It's way too hot and the fish won't bite." But people you just saw last Saturday live there and you said you wanted to go fishing up there with them, here's your chance. "I might get a call about a job." Well they've kept you hanging on the line forever, just keep your phone with you and that's what they make voicemail for. "You're just trying to get rid of me!" Yes I AM trying to get rid of you, I'm an only child and I need some space! You're being snide and sometimes downright mean and I need to be away from you for a little while so I can sort things out in my mind. "OK! I'll go call Greg and tell him that I'm going!" YIPEEEEEEE!!!!
Crissy, to an extent this is a "passage" of life. They are not teenagers, they are not adults. They are learning things change ...and trying to cope. The doctor even told me this. Its a combination of hormones and growing up....testing freedom and rules. Mine has the "I am 18 and can do what I want" syndrom....which he knows is NOT true. BUT he can push it. AND...he has three sisters on his butt ALL the time. The issue is....teaching them to deal with that temper and proper outlets.
SO happy you get a couple days "free". Sounds pretty good! Get to go to that pet stores and set up your spider tank! haha
HAHAHAHA Debbie!!! I might just do that!! LMAO that would be hilarious, I'll put it in his bedroom, not mine!
Crissy, even if it is "fake ones" might just give him a run and put him to thinking!
That's great! I might just do that. I can't go anywhere for lunch today but tomorrow I probably can. Oh shoot, I can go buy something after work today DUH!!!
Busy/busy this morning..where to start...
Prayers for you and hubby Dianne, think maybe at this time he needs to feel independent! Might be a good day for you to put your feet up, take something for the headache..senseless to say and 'relax' because I know under same circumstances there is NO WAY! We will gather tomorrow and pray..how can the Lord not hear so many praying for a positive outcome... Perhaps because he got the results from his previous tests they are being more cautious and need to do extra pre-op tests, hate to think of them wasting our Canadian $$$ lol...
OMG yes, swimming in Georgian Bay is a shock to the system...it's like jumping into a glass of cold water with icecubes floating..not quite but certainly not like into a pool or little body of water...
I started this post at 9:30 and look at the time...it's been one heck of a morning...
Got here at 8:15 and no sooner walked in that there was a call from a woman who was having a melt down, dealing with cancer for 5 years, not suppose to be working but was so that she could put food on her table, contemplated buying a few bullets to end it all, said at least her family would get the insurance policy. Not a lot of debt but collection agencies just don't want to hear her story!!!
Wasn't 1/2 hr. later we got a call from one of our client's wife, saying her husband tried to commit suicide by cutting his wrists and now in one of our mental institutions being looked after..
Then another call, couldn't stop the lady from crying..soo it's been mentally exhausting..try to comfort and offer hope..Paul now dealing with a few issues.. hard to listen sometimes!
Debbie, are you as swollen as you where when we did our road trip? You really never did find out the cause back then did you? Took forever if it ever did to go back to normal.
MARY..your friend has your best interest in mind telling you and hoping not to hurt your feelings that you are your worse enemy...I have to say that Roger and I (more Roger than I) were hard on the boys, they had to tote the line and if not there were in serious trouble..that being said, they wanted for nothing...consequently I / we didn't have a lot of problems and I thank the Lord for that..now on the other hand, my sister, SIL and BIL had kids same age, it was never their fault that they were into mischief and when they did have problems they always found a way to bail them out...it was always poor...., can't be cold hearted, have to help them out??? well that started when they were in their teens, they are now in their 40's and it's still poor....!!!! Many are struggling to still provide for them, infact one SIL not only is trying to support her 44 year old but now has a grandson 23 on house arrest - 9 months with only 1 month left..already I'm "hearing poor Christopher, no place to live..must stay with me..no $$$ so oh wooo is me, he'll have to live with me so I can look after him..Christopher says he's never had a room of his own and regular meals, how can you say go!" so she struggles on a pension giving all her $$$ away telling me I don't know what it is like as I've 2 good boys...
Then Sharon, who has mega $$$$, 2 boys who are my boys age, then adopted 2 young girls, NOTHING but trouble..but minute they are in trouble who is there with her wallet..who then tries to buy their 'be good' well just doesn't work..trouble with 3 of them
Soooo as hard on oneself to do the 'tough love' it sure is worth it..let the children know the consequences, let them be responsible, take away rather than give..in the end you'll make them responsbile
Crissy, he can come fish in my pond...
Just going to pick up food order for Trustee's and myself then when real lunch comes I can go to the garden gallery!
Boy Betty you hit the nail on the head with the parenting thing! My dad's sister's daughters, the older one had to fend for herself pretty much because mom was all about the younger one, poor Kari this, poor Kari that, older sister Lori ended up a mess because of no direction, Kari ended up a meth head because she was bailed out of every problem she got into. Dad's sister once told my mom, "I know it's my fault they ended up this way, Lori was ignored and Kari had too much attention." She was right but at that point Lori was in her mid 30's, Kari in her early 30's so what do you do? Dad's sister has since passed away, their dad also passed away, so now there's nobody and Kari's 3 kids were about to be adopted out from the state but she went into a rehab program and is going to have to be in it for the rest of her life, and Lori still doesn't have a clue. They contacted me recently and I'll talk to Lori but I'm afraid even though Kari has no money she'll show up on my front porch wanting money, they've done it with every other relative we have. I would love to talk to her too though because I think it's great that she's doing good, so I don't know what to do.
Moving us over...come sit a spell
Nothing like spending part of your day with good friends...
