Best/worse/what did I learn today?chat with friends..

yes, I'm homesick......... hadn't really wanted to put a "name" to it, but that's exactly what I am.........

Today, I'm "nesting" cuz I have the time, PLUS I know we aren't selling and will be staying put, so I'm gardening, (got some little popsicle sticks to make the Dahlias I'm planting), cleaning my deck, the house, and other stuff. Trying to make it look like we want to live here. 'Fraid I let the place go a bit when we both got laid off.......... y'know, in as much as I'm glad not to be working where I was, I still feel a little useless when I'm not getting any $$ in the bank account yet - likely won't for another 3 weeks.

Anyway - I'm having a fabulous day! It's a good day to be alive!!! ^_^

Betty, you should have come for dinner last night....roast, with roasted potatoes, green beans and fresh cornbread and applesauce.

Tonight...stuck a frozen pizza in the oven. It is just DH & I here. You have no idea what he dragged me thru today.....in his car with NO airconditioning.

He has a "2-55" AC unit! Two windows down...going 55MPH! It was soooo hot, thought I was going to pass out. He is busy baking "the cake" so he can decorate tomorrow after work. He said I could make the cupcakes!!! Ummm...NO, this is YOUR project. I might put the frosting on ...but thats it! 50 to 75 cupcakes.

You mean I missed out by 1 day..couldn't you feel sorry for me and fix me leftovers...wow, if your weather was same as ours today you must be baked..could you not have taken your vehicle??? Sure hope you have a/c in the house with all that baking he's doing..know you are not interested in going to the in-laws party but hope when you get there you have a great time..if not LEAVE real quick!!!

Debbie, saw one little fishie swimming, the others haven't come out from under the falls but good side is they aren't doing the back float yet.
Maybe the fishies can see Missy and Riley laying on the slate stone licking their lips..that might frighten them off..lol

Sailor seems to be doing much better, think my giving her meds morning and evening for itching has calmed her pulling out her hair...hope that's behind us now..

Drats I'm mad at myself..trip to Memphis I lost my car charger for the ipad..wall charger I just realized I left at work and the sony e-reader cord would likely work but didn't I loan the e-reader to Darlene...I've only 10% battery left, almost tempted to make a trip to Walmart but for 2 days that would be silly wouldn't it..

Sailor had one heck of a time last night, crying / panting / trying to get under anything she could..everyone had firecrackers going, must be lots of $$$ out there because they went on for an eternity. I should have got up and enjoyed them but kept trying to calm her down.

Seems different having to come downstairs and use my computer..battery on the i-pad now completely dead.

Will be quiet here this weekend with everyone so busy either travelling or with family and friends celebrating July 4th.

Hope someone is around to keep me company..lonesome kind of weekend..lol

Ahhh forgot to anchor big bird and found him floating in the pond the morning, yes Debbie, belly up!!!! Now to figure out what to do other than putting stones on his feet.

Good morning Betty and Laura. I'm up and trying to get going. I was out most of the day yesterday and when we got home, I had a friend over to sew and it was late when we called it a night. I meant to be here to wish you a Happy Canada Day Betty, Dianne and Susan and Thea but I got sidetracked too early.
It's going to be a laid back day today for me. I want to get as many of these blocks done and ready to mail as I can. Speaking of mail - our postmaster said he is still not accepting mail to Canada until after the holiday. I guess there is quite a backup going on - on both sides of the border. So I'll hold my pkg a bit longer.
Norm definitely has the job. Norm spoke to them yesterday they are just waiting on the background check. Everything else is fine and he should get the call sometime next week as to when he will be starting. He is so thrilled and so am I. He mentioned yesterday that he thought we had a very strong marriage to make it through 2.5 years of being together most the time. We did well and only got on each other's nerves a couple of times but never anything serious. It gave us a good understanding of what retirement would be like and I think we did just fine....
I love your bird Betty and I'm trying to think of a way to keep him upright. Floating doesn't seem to be the best position for him!!!LOLOL
Hoping Judy and Thunder are able to meet today. Thunder must be in her glory at the Naval Training Center and finally able to see her son. She is so proud of him as are we alll.....
Hoping this finds you doing better Bev. When are they going to cast your arm? That should put a squash to any idea of Scotty's about going home. He must realize you can't do for him with only one arm...Meant to tell you how much I enjoy your photos....So pretty.

This is the new feeder for the yard and my new friends!!!!!

Joining you Barb in the sewing department, I've procrastinated long enough, Paul wants his boat so sewing it will be..I've got 5 more blocks to do, after I complete the projects I have ahead of me i.e. boat tarp and pig sign..lol... just maybe I can get a couple more done and shipped.

I'd wait until you see me Barb to give me the box, wouldn't mail it..yes there is quite a back up and I can't send my mug swap out for another week or so..disappointing for sure..maybe we should have said you could send your box to my partner and for this time I'd have me so there wouldn't be problems with waiting for post office to get rolling re my swap partner!!!

As for my big bird..hmmm....I did say I wanted him to rust didn't I, so perhaps a few swims would help!!

Now I've looked at your feeder, I see a chippy/squirrel/birdie...are they part of the feeder???? or do they all eat together..went back 3 times to look..unbelievable.

Yes, these days it's hard to make the 25 year mark..I was so thrilled when Roger and I made it but it soon came to an end when 3 weeks later he passed on..often wonder where we would now be? Think we'd both be too stubborn to call it quits..lol

Barb, it was you who asked for the Victorian Santa kit I had right? If so, might be something we could do together AND could pour and paint a few more faces should you want to make a few more when you get home, by the time you do, it will almost be time to think 'Christmas'!
AND, if you can't come, will pack it up in a suitcase and take the body parts with me.

Yes, I'm sure Thunder is in 7th heaven, and to think the celebrations go on this July 4th..perfect time for visiting the area...I can just imagine she and Judy gabbing away taking but a little time to take a breath..Steve is a darling so am sure he and Thunder's husband will do fine as well. Exciting..always love reading Judy's posts after she meets up with a DG friend..just makes you feel you were right there with her.

Forgot if Mary said she was going to spend the weekend with her dad and son before returning home..hope this week's holiday is just what everyone needs

Sunshine is trying to peek through the clouds..have the sprinkler on only because of the grass seed, must go move it in another area before the seeds go floating by.

Yes, it's fun bantering back and forth, feels like you are all with me..probably another hour of sewing then comes the 'hmmm' part, am I strong enough to put the domes..wouldn't want to screw the project up at this point. Poor machine has to go through 6 layers of canvas in a bit, maybe I should give it a rest.

If I stop now though I do know what will happen..I'll be off doing something not planned and my work won't get done..sad, as I pass the vacuum here downstairs I do a couple of minutes of vacuuming..at this rate it will take forever..Sailor, border collie sure does shed, me thinks the two kiddies do as well. Wouldn't it me nice to be hairless (in the pet department only) lol

Yesterday, my friend Elaine and I were sewing our blocks for the BOM we are in. We go on two different days but try to make our blocks together. It is fun doing it with someone else at the same time.
I would so love to do the Antique Santa with you Betty. I just loved them. Just let me know what to bring with me for them. Also, I have some of the Antique Santa Material that you used on the Sleighs. Could you show me that too if I bring the material???? Pretty please???? I think Sean might like the sleigh idea. He so looks forward to our projects now...

Well I am making the YO YOs not sure what will make after.

You can make all kinds of animals with those yo-yos too!!! If you google it, you'll find all kinds of ideas....

Sounds interesting Laura, never did yoyo's but have seen lots done with them..keep thinking you must have lots of patience to do so..one of the dye's that I have with my accuquilt is 3 different sizes of circles meant for yoyo's..might have to put some material through and send it to you

Barb, I had the kit ready to send this fall, will pour a bunch of faces that you can bring home because I know once you do one you'll want to do a dozen more..will also cut some sleighs..just as easy to do 3 -4-5-6 lol than just one..ask the girls, one time mess..lordy you can do about 10 sleighs in a day but I'll temp you so you and Sean can make family Christmas gifts...does norm cut wood? Take all of a few hours to make a bunch of sleighs..maybe I'll hand him the tools and while we prepare he can cut..now I'm sure that he'll not want to come..lol

Barb, Ann was thrilled to have the deer playing in her backyard, she believes it's Mike's way of saying all will be ok. She had a hard week yesterday and it's to be expected, few times she teared up!!! Nerves are raw so taking everything to heart!

Tarp is made and I'm now going to attempt and I say attemp to put the domes on..since I fell on my arm it is not very strong so not sure I'm able to and everyone is away..Greg won't be home till late tomorrow night or early Monday morning, Jeff's up north kayaking so it's just little old me but like always if I struggle enough I'll get it done..

Sorry to hear things are as they are Bev. Will Scotty co-operate and sign what he needs to for you or will there be a problem?? Nothing worse than only having one arm..is the pain now better ? Just take it easy sweetie, your heart problems are nothing to play around with! Bet it's difficult seeing Scotty so ill...Sure do wish I lived closer. Gorgeous lily's..should go out and see if any will survive this year. Doubtful...even Ann was saying the lily bug ate all of hers and if a few open she'll be thrilled.

A dome (for lack of better description is a 2 part fastener..one part if drilled into the boat (they are already there) and I have to match up the canvas for attaching 2nd part to the tarp so they click together..

Did you hear the BAD words that came out of me when the pounding of the hammer on the dome but hit my thumb instead...I've a little more than 1/2 of them put on..still working, no breakfast, no dinner so far and it's after 1:00..if someone told me I had to work like that I'd be screaming blue murder but, I keep pushing and pushing..want it done

The tarp I'm doing is on the boat for measurements..all the domes on far side are on, and to the right on the front side..still have the area where the windshield is to do and front left side oh maybe 6 domes there so guess I'm making headway..

It's a hot one, look who had their boat still tarped, shame on me!!

That's what I should be doing today instead of working on someone elses boat..should be out on Georgian Bay..

Betty - you asked if the picture up above of the squirrel, chipmunk and bluejay was a part of the feeder? No, they are real and like that often here. Norm feeds them seed and they know there is plenty so they get along pretty well. I did wait for almost twenty minutes to get all three in the shot. Now I'm getting a tad upset with a neighbor's cat. She thinks this yard is her playground and she comes and chases the wildlife. My own cat doesn't do that...I think she may have gotten one of the squirrels today. I hope not.

OMG sure hope not Barb..know Missy is a hunter and it drives me crazy to see birds/chippies laying at my door. Have you spoken to your neighbor??? Are your kitties inside kitties?

Well, couldn't find any bodies to help me with the final fitting of the boat top so switched to Jeff's pig sign, one thing I'm not is going to spend an eternity painting a pig..already had to change colors because Julie's pig is black...hard to paint a black pig on a black background..lol..so color change was needed.

Looked at the clock, wondering why I'm hungry and tired..think now that the sign is done I'll (primitive as it may be) and I can't do more work on the boat a hot bath and something to eat might fit the bill..always tomorrow

I put some red cedar chips in their flower garden, but need 3 more bags to make it look good. Only got 1/4th of it covered with one bag...........

It's a sunshine day out there, not one to spend inside unless the heat drives me in so am hoping to find a few hand to help with the last fitting of the tarp get it done, couple coats of finish to the sign and voila, rest of the day to sit and relax..hate having commitments sitting just over my head..maybe even tonight I'll have a fire and marshmallows, prentent I'm still a child. lol

Susan you sure are keeping yourself busy and it's wonderful..bet Marlene is thrilled to have her gardens worked on and able to see what's growing in the veggie garden.

I took a walk through mine this morning, had to feed the fish that I can't see....., soooo pretty..little bit of heaven for sure.

Gloomy morning and more T and L called for today.Warm and humid out already. There was a wicked and long T and L storm pass through in the night. I am just getting ready to leave to see if I can help any of our artisan friends who has tents at Kingston Fanfayr. Things will be chaos down there with lots of inventory damage if items were left in the tents overnight.
Have several themos of coffee, treats and grapefruit juice and Triscuits which is for a very good friend. Mac and I lived on grapefruit juice and Triscuits at too many shows to mention. Miss my friends certainly DO NOT miss everything else involved.
Oh Thunder I do hope you get to meet up with Judy!

Good morning friends... It is beautiful here this morning but not to last. We are due for heavy T-storms this afternoon. Going to a noon cookout at the home of my quilting friend. Hope the weather holds until then.
I had new visitors to the morning feed today. Two of the most beautiful ravens I've seen in a long time. Wish I had the camera ready when they came. I'm going to try to keep it on the table as that is where I usually see cool beings out there. They were so majestic!!!
I'm off to get a load or two of laundry going and try to get a couple more blocks ready. I'm up to eight so far-only seven more to make.

Fireworks were great last night. The kids really enjoyed them.
Raining here now so will find something to do inside.
I still have quilt blocks to work on so will see........

I am busy getting things ready for the Anniversary party today.

DH and his cake making abilities are "in the bucket" right now as this cake looks horrific. I am embarrased to even take it over there. What makes it worse is the heat....icing is melting right down it and flat.

I have water boiling and making the salads now....so have to leave here about 1:00 I think. Still not wanting to go at all. Just a high drama situation with all them. My nephew sent me a note last night to make sure I was coming.....he is 23....so I go for my kids. DH probably won't be home from work until 3:30 at the earliest.

OK, have to get busy.

OMG it's when you try to do your best Debbie that things don't work out...all that effort and for not!!! drats and more drats, not a good start and now you are into cooking, even doing the salads is more than you should do..sending you a hug!

If no the MIL/FIL I'm sure you are loved by all the nephews/nieces and you will enjoy..remember car got there and the car can take you home just as quickly should you not feel comfortable or in good health...if hubby gets home by 3:30 will he make an appearance or would it be over by the time he arrives if there is travelling involved add that to the mixutre...

Betty, he will be down at the party. It goes from 2:00 til 7:00. Some family has come from Connecticut that we have not seen in at least 5 years....so I know he will want to go see his Aunt. His sisters from Michigan and Ohio will be here also..they are here every 3 months usually, so hasn't been long long time. No sure who else was on the guest list as far as friends/family. You can bet I will be there with the car pointed "out" so I dont' get blocked in.

Am still pushing fluids and cranberry juice, sitting in between peeling things to rest. Nice breeze flowing thru the house to help a bit for now.

Betty, I will bring my camera. That is always what holds me together and keeps me occupied so I don't have a panic attack.

Seems you are keeping thing in your stride, not letting them get to you..nothing worse than a panic attack..

We are quite alike Debbie..lol..when I went to Roger's nieces wedding, not same circumstances but pretty well everyone was paired up, so I took over 500 photo's, put them on a disk for them..kept me busy and didn't mind being there..lol

Slight breeze here..going for one more fitting, think I've got it under control, if what I just did fits I would think by 10-10:30 I can call Paul and say 'pick up your boat'..job done!!

Me and Dave went to a wedding yesterday evening and I have never been so humiliated in my life, I'm still disgusted. Last summer we went to his best friend and his wife Greg and Anita's sons wedding and I got left with a bunch of 23 year olds who I have never met and had no idea where Dave disappeared to. Same group of people at this wedding except there was no where to disappear to as they had it in a hall in downtown Hot Springs, but apparently everything I do is wrong and I'm a complete idiot. He said, "You should see what Christine does with her coffee. You should see what Christine does with the laundry, you should see how much Christine is on her smartphone playing games." He went as far as saying that I mistreat him because he has to clean the house and cook the meals, and Anita piped up and said, "Dave you haven't worked in 1 1/2 years, she gets up and goes to work every day and never bitches, who died and made you God?" He said that I'm lazy and don't care about anything, and that I'm an idiot for growing flowers and not veggies because they don't produce for him. Last night sitting on the couch I was talking and he said, "You're annoying, it's about time you get another pet so you can talk to the pet and annoy it." Where is all of this coming from suddenly!! I'm thinking that I need a friend with benefits and wondering if he already has one!

Oh Crissy, that is not good sweety! Not at all. If my DH ever said anything like that to me...he would be walking bent over and looking for an ice pack!!

OMG Crissy, that is so unbelievable..not his fault that he was let go and there are no jobs but let me tell you there is no need for him to humiliate you..not sure how you handled it but I'd have gotten up, driven home and let him fend for himself..thank goodness your friend had the brains to bring up the fact that you have kept everything together..

Took a quick drive to town, thought 'gee I'm important' even if I am just one..so picked up t-bone, potatoes, everything for strawberry shortcake, making a salad and will have a picnic party for one!!!!

Robert called me, said that Paul was away today but to call and tell me he'd come over tomorrow after work to pick up his boat unless it was in my way...can park 20 cars in my drive, so no isn't in my way, just thought he might like to use it..
