She's about to...61... Summer is upon us!
Faye, that MG is just awesome. Do you know the name of it? I haven't put mine out yet, but have the seed and the place to put them, it is just a little farther down on the list of 'to do'.
I'm with you on the coleus names. I don't try to keep up either. I admire anyone who is able to. I just like them a lot and always try to have a bunch around. I need some that like sun better than the ones I have. They don't like it too much, or maybe it is just this aweful heat we are having.
Crit, from what I've read there are several "sun tolerant" Coleus and can attest that Oxblood, a new one for me this year, is just one.
I started Coleus cuttings for you this morning, Faye. Some are from plugs Neener gave me that are growing like crazy in my hanging baskets and others are ones Amanda gave me at our RU I just stuck in a pot and several were already large enough to take cuttings.
You know I want more too, Neener. Whenever it's convenient for you to mail cuttings is good for me. Remember that Pink Chaos I got while I was up there? It's in a shallow pot and has just about outgrown it. Love its funky colors and foliage.
Pic is Daylily "Pardon Me"..... with a hitchhiker.
evening, such pretty blooms everyone. Faye, that looks like either sybils dance or aktsu no mai i. nil jmg there. wish I had some other kinds of blooms to share other than monardas, cones, and such. the jasmine sambuc is in bloom and kaitlyn has two open blooms tonight.
Happy Birthday Tammie, my mom used to love going to red lobster once a month, I sure miss being the one to take her, I am glad you got to go.
Do your fancy daylillies have full sun? my ditch lillys and others are facing east out front, but the others don't seem to be doing anythng.
My Dizzy opened and smells great. I have some salmon star that have buds on them but aren't open yet. I can't wait to see them! Took a pic of Dizzy but lost it somewhere. Will have to take another.
Crit I have several coleus that are very sun tolerant. As long as they get plenty of sun.
Fruity will cuttings make it in the high 90's in the mail? I would be happy to send cuttings if ya all think they will make it.
We have cooled off cause of rain, and I am out between showers yanking weeds on the west side of the house where it is usually unbearable this time of year, especially with the pine trees gone. Had to come in when I heard thunder....
Faye, dragons eye is beautiful.
I also have salmon star but it is just buds also, waiting LOL.
happ, that would be terrific. If it is one thing I have on my deck is SUN . Since everything is potted there, it's great to have hot sun and if possible, drought resistant as well. I've added water beads to the new ones I've potted up trying to keep from watering so often. Besides being hard on them, it's hard on me. ^_^
Ok I reread my post, the coleus will do well with full sun if they get plenty of WATER....geehz. Altho I have never had them in full sun over 100 days on end.
Lovely, Neener :) The only Lily I have left that hasn't bloomed is Casa Blanca. Double Sensation "about it" is already dropping petals from the heat, despite regular waterings.
happ, It's awfully hot here with no relief in temps or rain in sight, unless you count a few drops we had today that only drove the humidity up. How about holding off mailing Coleus cuttings to me til later, gator.
I'll be glad to root cuttings of Kiwi Fern, Pat Morton and Oxblood if anybody wants to try these. Already have these going for you, Faye. They don't take long to root and thought they might make the trip better than cuttings. Many of you know my most disappointing Trade when I was new, Priority Mailed plants, and received Coleus cuttings in a bubble envy that were squush (is that a word...lol) when they arrived. Live and learn.
Daylilies like full sun, Debra, which is pretty much all we have. Although at the Daylily Farm several clumps are near trees but I don't imagine their cover is so heavy that prevents her Daylilies from getting 6 or so hours of sun or part-sun each day. Come on and show us your Cones and Monardas, would love to see pics :)

I cleaned out 3 flower beds today and got all my hosta all planted. WIll take pics tomorrow. 5 of them came from our own "plant packing master" happ. I didn't have any mini's and she sent me 3. I'm so excited to see everything grow now.
Thanks deejay
Morning everyone! Happy 4th of July!
Love the pretty blooms!
Nice deejay
Happy 4th to you all. So many pretty blooms, and yes, so much work. This morning I spent the 1st 1 1/2 hrs watering just the front flowers. Then discovered Spider Mites again on my Angels, so had to postpone watering and get out the spray bottle. Then saw a cazillion Japanese Beetles on the Hibiscus, now have to get the Seven Dust. With all that done, boy is it hot outside now. Asthma wants to kick me in the butt so will wait until late this afternoon to continue watering.
Thank you all for all you do in supplying me with my "Fixes". LOL You all know how flower crazy I am, and greedy too.
Love & Hugs
Faye
Thanks Susie for this beauty
Milky spore works good on the Japanese beetles. It is pricey, and cheaper on amazon.com, but I have heard nothing but good reports with it.
Love the flower, faye!
your welcome fay Fire stom is one of my FAV"S Mine have not Opened yet My yard sale is growning but no buds yet . all the ones that you shared with me last fall are doing great , the ones I BOUGHT Died Made me sick . but i have found they love the shade when its hot. & I give them all a small drink NIGHTLY they get the feed on SUNDAYS .
I Hope mine will get Blooms faye do you feed more them once a week ??
well going to go walk the garden as soon as it cools down .
HAPPY 4th
Can anyone tell me what type of caterpillar this is
Go to this link, and scroll through. There are several whites ones there, maybe you can ID it there?
LK ... you forgot the link. lol
Beautiful color Faye! I was going to make new tags for all my brugs that had their names written on mini blinds, only to find the names are already GONE! UGH. Looks like I have to wait until they bloom to see what they are. I only have 1 with a true Y, and I know if is a NOID pink.
HAPPY 4TH OF JULY....all be safe. The Fourth of July has repeatedly ranked as the deadliest holiday of the year for drunk driver crashes -- even deadlier than New Year's Day.
What beautiful blooms! I love them all. Oh yard sale yellow is stunning! Tiki Torch was one of my favs "was" is the key word, it just died one summer. My white coneflower is gone and nothing but purple. I bought the purple double topper and I get some strange sports out of it.
I will just start a bunch of coleus and then when things calm cool down they will be ready to go. We went out to dinner at one of casinos last night and all along the path way they had coleus, so to help them out I pinched a couple of tops off for them....rofl.
Got all kinds of daylilies blooming was walking around with my tags trying to get metal tags made for them when they are not blooming. I have dayliles in part shade and they bloom just fine without 6 hours of sun. In fact I think shade from the late hotest afternoon those do better. I have quite a few under trees. Didn't plan it that way the trees just grew up....LOL Those that get west sun I have put a drip hose around them to help out.
Gonna watch the fireworks from the roof. We have a window on the second floor that even as short as I am I can climb out and our roof is a nice pitch so it is easy to walk on. We have done this for several years. Have a great day.

Sorry try this...
Debra, those are pretty pics. Love that basket. Do you do lots of baskets?
Ok, so I am walking around the garden, reach down and pull some maple tree babies up and realize I just pulled up poison ivy with my hand. Dang I hate that. I have never broke out with it, but I hate tempting fate! Geehz. I know I should wear gloves but.......
Oh well Morning everyone. Hope you all had a good 4th. We went to the top of the hill on our property and sit on the tailgate of the truck and had marquaritas and watched the explosions with friends. Beautiful night.
Keep them blooms coming I love seeing them.

Linda Kay, don't you love those hardy hibiscus? Beautiful blooms, love heat, I have purchased several and a friend has given me starts off of hers. I need to move one, too much shade. Guess I ought to look up and see when the best time is.
They are very pretty. I bought one rose, one pink, and one red! Waiting for them to bloom...
Pretty blooms everyone! I have been out weeding one of my lily beds. I took today off work with plans of just working in the yard. We are having company next Sunday, so I need to get the patio/deck finished up.
This is my hosta gardens. Much appreciated starts from our very own happ. She also sent me my first mini's. They are in the front of the Hosta/Rose garden. The other one has some of hers in it too. It is the Hosta/Cactus garden.
This is the Hosta/Castus.
