Flamingo Kim, where has she been Judy. She needs to drop in every now and then.
AW man look at that happy couple ^_^ Great pics Judy thanks for sharing.
Kim spends some time on Facebook but not much.
Hi KIM!!! Miss You!!!
I'm so glad she got to be there!! Looks like you all had a wonderful time, I'm so bummed that I couldn't go but what do you do??
Posted photo's (about 20) at the end of the following thread,
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1205581/#top
Sorry you missed it!
Thanks Betty. Those are great pics! Hope I'm in them at your house!
Does anyone know if you're supposed to remove rosemary after cooking? I'm making a soup with bay leaves and rosemary, and I know I remove the bay leaves as they don't soften. Do I remove the rosemary as well? (there's 1 Tbsp and it's floating on the top - quite a job to remove it, I can tell you!!)
Sorry I missed Kim.
Kim's no longer a member of DG but she's active on FB.
You all look so happy... sigh.. still sad that I can't make it :*(
BUT, it was wonderful to hear your voices, Betty and Liz!!!!
Sistah Judy, I can't wait to chat more with ya!
Sorry Susan, I never used rosemary.
The rosemary seems to have softened, so didn't remove all of it (1 Tbsp.... kinda difficult to remove all of it anyway!) and the soup is mmm mmmmmm good!!
Greetings all - What a grand time you ladies seemed to have had. Gosh, only seems like yesterday when there was talk of me joining in the first get together with Judy and Liz. How great that this has become an annual thing. And I see our Miss Betty gets there too.
I would like to take the opportunity to tell you ladies that you really played a big part in my learning to enjoy life and enjoy the friendships that are available at Dave's Garden. I know I kind of fell off the side of the earth for a while but at the time I went missing in action, I had too many websites needing my attention and I just couldn't keep up with all of them.
We had such great fun back in the day. Again, you have all played a major role in my being able to maintain a healthy and positive outlook on life and I owe each of you much. It really tickled me to come across this thread this morning and see that you ladies are still enjoying each others company.
Take great care everyone and here is hoping that everyone's lives are goiong well and not too many stresses in your lives. Doing good here thanks. It was wonderful to see so many great big smiles. Put a warm fuzzy feeling in my tummy.
Ruby
Oh Ruby, sure have missed you..
Still to this day I make my 'Ruby's applesauce cake' seems it's the only cake I can make without burning
And yes, I did have a wonderful time in Chicago..it was my 3rd ti e visiting, just shows you how welcome Judy and Steve make you feel!
Now with the reunion in my neck of the woods in 2012 I'm already getting jitters, how will I ever match the beauty of their Chicago...
Hope you are all saving those pennies..
Remember, $10 a week in a hidden sock ought to do it..lol
Will the gathering be at your place Betty or just near by? I remember having plans or a deep desire to go that first year and then things falling through. I am now in such a bad physical condition that I don't plan to ever travel again unassisted by either hubby or other person. I used to be like yourself and would get in a car or on a plane and just go. My walking has deteriorated to a point that upon leaving my house, anda actually even going out in the yard, I use a walking cane and long distances are becoming a real problem for me too.
So, maybe one of these years it will suit John and I to travel and meet up with some of you ladies. I really did enjoy seeing the photos and hearing about the get together. Love the groups name too, Sistahs. I can relate. So many here at Dave's I could call my Sistahs, such great people here.
Enjoy your weekend and always eat cake as much as you can. hahaha......take extra good care all.
Ruby
Ruby, sorry to hear that walking has become a problem for you..not sure but think some might be bringing hubbies, I have a date with Jaye's hubby Kel in my secret garden, table set for 2 already and am anxiously waiting..lol steve said he'd try his best and drive in from the north doing sightseeing tour on his way..
Did John finish the stone walkway? Your gardens were spectacular!
I must say that the girls and hubbies I have met on this thread and my best/worse and what did I learn today and what is happening in your neck of the woods threads have proven to be just as they are on the thread, no, bit of a lie there, even better than on DG! All loving, caring
individuals...an honor to meet them...
Not only did I go to the Chicago reunion last week but am counting the days for Barb and Norm to get here.. just too exciting for words!
Sure we'll have many photo's to share..
By the way Ruby, your cake, thus you is the reason for all this weight..lol. Do you have a dietary recipe you could share ??
Hi Ruby - don't think we've ever met, have we?
I'm Susan, and would love to hear about "Ruby's cake" lol Not that I need more weight, to be sure!!
Betty - tomorrow we're going to use our dinghy and go to Allen Bill Pond. It's where we were fishing today, and it's a nice quiet pond, just right for the first time "rafting". We went today, and got some fish - one Bob caught, and he caught the other one too, but it flip flopped back into the water before he could "bag" it lol People we met gave us some of their "extra" fish as they were catching one every 5 min or less!! Wonderful place - really love that it's only 1 hour from home!! Google Kananaskis Country and you'll see what a beautiful area it is!!
Susan, thought of you this morning, Canadian Tire has same dinghy on sale for same price, maybe you should have your own. Tell Bob I said so. Lol
Nothing like catching supper..
Judy should be back from cottage and Liz and Kenny on their way back to California..poor thing she must be exhausted!
LOL have my own? This one takes 450 lbs or so...... just how heavy do you think I am? roflmbo
Now that we have the right hook size (#4) and the right bait (tiny tinned shrimp, bought from WM - go figure!) we should get fish today. Yesterday we had too big a hook - 2 to 3 lb fish in a freshly stocked pond couldn't take so big a hook LOL
Hope to pass some on to a neighbour - they've been really good to us, and we'd like to reciprocate as well as we can. They want to pay me to paint a bedroom and bathroom.
Should also get some for Margaret, as thanks for giving us the wood to repair our deck..... oh geeze so many people to thank - hope we get our limit! 5 per licence per day! And we have 4 now.... from yesterday.
Always nice to play it forward Susan!
For those of you who do not know, our Judy and Steve need your prayers to get them through the next while. Got word that Brian, Steve's partner and friend passed away..Judy does not yet know details...
Sending mine with warm gentle hugs as well. Prayers will help them both - Norm and I are both so very sorry.
I'm not so sure that when I was at Judy's about 4 years ago that Brian was in the hospital quite I'll..someone was that worked with steve and almost think it could be him.....sudden anyway..
With taking Liz and Kenny to airport I'm sure she!s had an emotional day!
So sorry to hear about their friend passing! Sending big armwraps to them! (((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))
Sending hugs and prayers to Steve and Judy.
Hi...
Thank You Betty for letting everyone know...
Yes, this has been a very emotional day!! We spoke with the person who was with our friend Brian. Also, we spoke with his girl friend.
It is such a shock to our systems, very surreal...The outcome obviously not good, I will just say extremely bad choices were made that brought on his death.
I am extremely upset with the whole ordeal, I can't even begin to say how this changes the course of a lot of lives, especially my Honey. He is still trying to wrap his mind around it all...So yes Thank you for the Arm Wraps, and prayers, We need them more than ever at the moment...
Tonight We will be going to Brian's to be with his girlfriend.
In the meantime, Liz and Kenny are in flight home. I have been watching the clock...Waiting for the txt that they have landed safely.
Just ordered pizza because we have eat something, not very hungry.
Our Kids, have been pretty cool and sticking close to dad and I.
I will post tomorrow, when I can think fairly straight...
Again, Thank you for Prayers, and Armwraps.
With Love and Peace
Judy
P.S. I would like you to know, We did manage to have a good time in between ALL the weirdness.
Missing Liz already and My gosh, so wish Betty's and all your arm's were around me tonight...this is really tough
Liz and i hugged so tightly many times before they went into airport.
Oh Judy, I am so very very sorry for yours' and Steves loss. SO very very sad and knowing it was made by a bad choice....much worse.
Big arm wraps....love you lady, holding Steve too
Debbie
Was going to telephone Judy but knew you had a difficult day..know you are both in my thoughts..steve thought a lot of Brian and his work projects I'm sure were based on Brian as well! Just know I worry about you...glad you will be spending time with Brian' girlfriend tonight, perhaps you can put what little sense there is to start understanding decisions made!
Arm wraps going your way.
((((((((((((Judy))))))))))))))), so sorry you and Steve. It is so hard when it is a senseless death.
Six years ago, my best friend of 25 years, who had been clean and sober for 18 years, got really depressed and jumped off an overpass onto the interstate below in Dallas. She died instantly and, Thank God, she did not land on any cars and no one hit her. That was SUCH a hard phone call to receive. I still miss her greatly and wish there was something I could of done. There was nothing anyone could do when she made that decision. But that still doesn't help us to understand or miss them any less.
I'm kind of having a little emotion here too. That same year, about 7 months later my Mom passed away. August 18th. She was 89 and ready to go, and I was ready to let her go, but I still miss her just the same. I just have to keep telling myself she is with daddy again. He died when I was 6 and she was just 48. She never remarried. Only dated once that I know of.
Seems like this news today has been "rough" on all. I can only imagine what Steve and Judy are feeling and you, too, Crit. I for one would love to skip August through September each year if I could. Those were the final months of my husband's battle with cancer and even after 7 years---I still can't shake it.
Judy and Steve, know my thoughts, love and prayers are with you both. Sending a huge "arm wrap" from here.
So sorry about Aug and Sept for you Marion. That has to be very hard. We all have our little things going on during the year, even though it is hard, we do think about them more.
Thanks Crit, I do get better each year but when I hear of something like this today, it just brings it to the surface. My heart goes out to them.
I know others have their bad moments and times of year and oh how I wish we all could avoid them but alas, this is life.
Hard to know what to say, Judy - my thoughts and prayers are with you all
awwwww Judy lots o'love to you and Steve BIG BIG arm wraps to all of you, kids too...sure this is not easy for them either :( :( you got my number girl !! call any time !!!
Judy, sending you all big arm wraps, and prayers. Light a big fire tonight. We will be thinking of you!
Hello Sistahs all!!
Well, sorry to have abandoned this thread!!
I thank you all for the Prayers and Arm Wraps...
Crit, So sorry to hear about your friend, what a tragic story, offering you arm wraps too...
Marion, (((((((Arm Wraps))))))))))...August does have some painful memories.
...Steve, lost his first partner 6 years ago tomorrow. so loosing Brian has been a pretty hard on him.
We have decided it's time for him to take a vacation! We will be heading up North, to Wisconsin...
But in the meantime...I am going to tell you about my Gathering!!
OH MY GOSH!!! Ruby, Gramma Ruby!!! Can't tell you how nice to see you've come to visit. I very often think of you and hope that you are well.
I had the biggest smile when i cam in and saw you posted, miss chatting with you.
So here goes my story.
As you know Liz and Kenny arrived on July 30...
Posting their photo together as i never got around to introducing them you!
Liz and Kenny Brought us some home grown tomatoes and lemmons!!
What was nice, Steve and Liz went shopping and she bought some of that fruit!!
Julia was most excited to see it and helped herself to one...Liz asked how she knew about it and she proudly told how Jaye taught her how to eat one!!
...Note: I completely forgot what it's called, lol chi ling or something? They are the little red ball fruits!
LOL, My kids have grown quite used to me taking random photos of Everything, lol just so I could share stories about the various things...
They also brought Steve and I this Bread...You have to get it from San Francisco!! LOL, they brought it on the plane.
LOL, enough to feed us for a month!! We shared a loaf and froze the rest...It is Delicious.
