She's about to...61... Spring has sprung!!

New room everyone! Come and show us your blooms!

How about a pretty yellow hibiscus in bloom to start us off!

Taters, you got some pretty bloomers there...rofl.

I forgot to take pics of our plant sale until it was about 1/2 over. We had plants on the ground, under tables, everywhere when we started, we had 5 sets of double tables and still didn't have enough room. When all was done, we had about 1 table left, which is about normal. Non-gardeners are so funny. They would want sun plants so we would take them to the 3 sets of tables that had those and you would suggest daylilies and their response would be I already have those. Come on we had ufo's, spyders, double petaled, beautiful colors....rofl, I doubt seriously they had all of those. Then the same with hostas, oh I have those......but apparently we would find things they didn't have...rofl. I don't know how much money we made but I am thinking alot. Someone brought to the sale the most beautiful potted siberian iris, pretty sure they were Ceasers brother, and we had alot of them left over and I think they are beautiful, and red mums that looked like they came out of a nursery and they didn't sell at all, which I guess I am glad because I brought 2 home with me. Had a great time but I was exhausted by the end. 6 to 3pm, that is alot of standing and talking...wowzer.

Terrible tornado in south Missouri, I didn't even know it until this morning, I went in the house late, took a bath and went to bed.....then on the way to work heard about all the destruction!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear your OK!
Wow, you had a good day at the plant sale! Good for you!

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Thanks LK!!!

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Debra & happ, I was really worried about you two and am glad you're both safe. What I wouldn't give to either go to or participate in a big plant sale like yours last week-end. Most of the stuff at our Farmer's Markets are veggie plants. I'm not knocking them, but they could kick it up a notch and include a better diversity.

You're into horses, Patti, but the one I have you can't ride. Here's my first bloom of Daylily "Wild Horses" today. I was busy digging plants early this morning for our Round-Up this week-end and didn't notice it had bloomed til hubby yelled, "Hey, did you see this Spider?"

that is A1 Top Notch Gorgeous, fruity!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Love that Wild horses! So pretty! How could you not notice that one?

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Beauty Fruity!
They are saying bad weather will be between Oklahoma City and Wichita. Hope they are wrong and it is just some thunderstorms.
One of the DGers on the missouri site lives in Joplin, we were so glad to hear from her. I know we weren't her top priority but dang it is scary when you don't hear from them! She lives about a mile from the horrible destruction.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

I'm so glad your friend in Joplin was able to check in, happ. She was really lucky to miss the tornadoes by a hair!

It's my thing to walk the gardens every morning and evening, with my camera in hand especially this time of year. Guess I was too focused on digging plants this morning to notice the bloom, LK. Wild Horses is going to be a much stronger producer than last year when my big whoop was having three blooms at once. She has three scapes that are just loaded with buds.

Anybody else have blooms? I'd love to see them.

Daylilys already and beautiful too. The only dlilies I have blooming are the Stella Dora's.( can't spell)
Be safe everyone.

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Mine are coming along. Always slow up here in the woods. And it never stops raining lately either.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have only had this pink one bloom from Susie. I have more growing, but no buds yet?
How do you know what kind of lily they are?

Thumbnail by taters55
(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

ooooh that pink is yummy!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks Faye, it is such a pretty pink, and since it is my first ever lily to bloom, it is my favorite one here so far!!!

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

O K Linda, is that beauty part of a large clump? LOL, careful how you answer. sure wish you were coming to the RU.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

So far, that is one plant, but I have 3 of the plants, that have bloomed that color!

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

I have 2 big fat yellow blooms on my lily, it is my first one this year. Sure hope they are still there in the morning! Storms are moving our way. Line stretches from below the state line to texas and above the state line to kansas. 2 confirmed dead from tornadoes sw of here and 3 children missing. These are the storms they have been warning us about. Lots of tornado's going on all throughout the line. Said the atmosphere was as much or more than it was that spawned the Alabama tornado's. They are all moving our direction. Looks like there are some up around Debra (joeswife) too. Pray for us all. Who knows what the night will bring. Should be starting here about 7 our time (CDT) I have satellite internet, so may lose my signal.

Beautiful Wild Horses FOTV!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Please be careful in these storms, and check in when you can.

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

I have my 'fraidy hole all ready. Things are starting to move into our area. UGH!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Stay safe Crit!

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

Looks like it is taking a more easterly track and about past us. Wind and heavy rain, but Praise God, no tornado or damaging winds. Tulsa having winds downtown of 110 knots. Don't remember now how fast a knot is, but I think that's quite high.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Our Tulsa data lines are up but our OKCity lines are down. Waiting to hear from someone down there. Have friends in Blanchard and I heard the storm last night was heading that direction! Terrible destruction this year. The DGer that lives in Joplin thought they were a mile from the destruction but turns out they were just a few blocks.....bet that scared them when they realized that.

Just have a sec but wanted to post a pic of my iris beauty. Colors are pretty true except the yellow is a bit bolder than the photo. Love the vase, it is perfect for iris. Comanche acres iris farm has a vase I want, just like this but made out of black slate, the iris just pop against it. Course they are a tad expensive.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is so pretty! Are those cut iris?

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

I cut the iris last night before the storms hit, I was afraid the winds would destroy them and I might as well enjoy them here. When I left this morning the one on the side was barely open, in the pic it is a little more open, and now it is showing her stuff, I was shocked how fast it opened up. Looks like 3 perfect blooms....if you look close you will see the rust color around the purple edge. There are two more buds on the stalk, I don't know if they will open up or not.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

They are very pretty! Hope you don't have too much damage from the storms?
Debra, check in please? We need to know you and your Sister have survived the storms. Crit, Tammie..., please check in! So much damage the past few days, and they say more is on the way!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Crit, has checked in on another forum, if memory serves me correctly, this morning, so I feel she is ok.
Wichita didn't have any tornado's that I am aware of, not that thurnderstorms can't be bad, but none of the big twister things, so hopefully Debra is ok.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is good to hear!
Thanks

For anyone using internet explorer. I just downloaded Google Chrome, and holy cow! I can't believe the speed difference! it is so much fast. And if anyone here is using it, please tell me where I click to add paged to my favorites, so I don't have to keep typing in www.davesgarden.com?
Thanks

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hap, news says there is a tornado on the ground heading towards Kansas City. Please be careful.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Thanks Linda Kay, for the first time in 31 years of working here we took cover. We are smack downtown and that would of been horrible. Seem to hit south and north of the metro area. There were tornados on the ground but just a short bit (not that is any help to anyone it may have hit). I called DH cause I knew he wouldn't have the tv on and wouldn't have a clue.... ;) I was right....

This weather is something.....my worse nightmare would be to get caught in my car.....One time I left Wichita to come back to KC and there were storm warmings but I thought no big deal....yeah right! Between Wichita and Topeka, there is alot of range with no houses in site at all forever and altho it was beautiful to look across the beautiful rolling flint hills as far as the eye could see, the jet black boiling clouds were a tad scary.....lol

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Thank God you are all safe. am sometimes afraid to check. so afraid some of us will be caught up in the storms. Happ, your Iris is beautiful ( I think I have that one) and that vase just keeps me going back to look at it.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

The vase is obviously very shallow and has a frog dead center in it. The kind of frog with the little spikes sticking up. The last iris I had in there lasted from Wednesday to the following Tuesday, actually today when I took it out it still didn't look horrible.
I took a pic of the inside for you. A fried gave it to me so I don't know where this one came from. She got it at an art show and it has the artist that turned it on the bottom, maybe when I dump it I can read the bottom better.

It is perfect for iris or any thicker stemmed flower. Since I can't arrange any two things together this works great for me.

I feel the same way, Faye, and am o glad you Mid-Westerners here are safe!

happ, Wonder if your holder would work for an Amaryllis stalk too? Beautiful Iris.

Like I mentioned a few weeks ago, I gave my MIL a vase full not knowing if the buds would open or not. She said as the old blooms died, she clipped them off (think she just wanted something to fuss over and keep her occupied...lol), and said her buds just kept going and had blooms for about 10 days. This morning I pruned mine since they're history for the moment. Except for three stalks that have what I believe are seed pods. Anybody ever grown Iris from seeds?

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

Just wanted to stick my head in to say all is well in my world. Just rain and lightening. Nothing bad, Praise God!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

fotv, I always break off the old blossom cause I can't stand the look of them, one bud is really little so I will watch and see. I usually feel safe if the bud has already broke color, they always seem to open but these two are smaller than that. One itty bitty and one that might make it. Took one of the old blooms off this morning, this iris stalk has been blooming for sometime now.

Glad you are good Crit.

Anyone heard from Debra? I might call her if she doesn't poke in sometime today....gettin kind of worried.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Last Debra posted was on the 23rd. Praying she is just busy at work, or with her Sister, and not hurt from the storm.
Everyone else OK?

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Hello all...............DEBRA calling and praying Debra is well.

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

I'm here.. still nothing here in West Texas.. no rain, NOTHING.. don't worry. ALL the weather is east of me.. I am worried about everyone getting all that awful stuff in the mid section of the country.. it sure is piling up on them!

Sand Springs (Tulsa), OK(Zone 7a)

Praying for nice good soaking rain with no severe weather for Tammie. Good to have you check in.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Ok, I couldn't take it anymore and called Debra at work, and she is ok!
Told her sorry and hope I didn't get her in any trouble but we were worried about her, she chuckled and said she is fine, but tired between work and a basement full of water, sounds like she had a major calamidy! So she hadn't had time to get on the computer....so sorry about her basement but so good to know she is ok. She said she would get on tonight and update us, it sounds awful!

Hope all of you out there have one DGer who knows how to get a hold of you. I know how it sounds silly, cause I would of never thought people I had never seen or met would be so IMPORTANT to me, but you all are.

Lucky for me I have met and spent time with Debra on a couple of different instances which was so fun. Now 1 DGer down and minimum of 50 more of you to meet...;) Love ya all.

(Ang) Bremerton, WA(Zone 8b)

Thank you for the update happygarden. I've been checking in on this post regularly ^_^
