Congrats Drew, I'll look forward to viewing it.
mjs, C. black magic is a pretty one to grow and dyzzy nice Begonia.
Hi Rj, I still covet your tree fern.
Rita, A. crystal hope is a beauty and your new Passion vine is too.
Tropical Garden # 101
wonderful pixs, everyone.. a good thing to come home to see after a hard day at work. Thank You, so much!
I had two of these, and gave one away, is it supposed to be a caudex or bonsai plant? it acts like it wants to be one.. should I plant that bottom part deeper? It has been this way all winter..
Debra and MJS, these sites will help you to understand a bit more, although, some you just have to see and know what it is!

Good Morning, Thanks, Drew for the link. Dyxxy I sure hope my gingers bloom weird blooms like yours , those are awsome.
This is the plant I was wondering if I should do something different with..
Rita, I have a small abutilon, it is showing little baloon loking things, I hope I can keep it going.
Oh, I love that begonia , too..( Dyzz)
Wish my EE's I put outside would look as goood as they did inside, but right now they are not looking good at all..
Dottie is a lab, I met her when she was a baby, tangled up with her collar in their back fence when I came home one day for duke, now they have a wooden fence back there, she and Cooter, the older blonde lab mix, are waiting for me patiently, and I am sure they are wishing they could chase my squirrels away for me. I thought about another pet, but I am not ready yet.
anyway, sure did like the anthurium and the brazilian plume flower, too.
Debra, that's a pretty collection in the last shot, with the sanseveria.
MJ found the plume flower description for me - it is actually Mexican! That makes more sense, considering it seems pretty hardy. My (Brazilian) neighbor gave me the cutting years ago which I then stuck in the ground and forgot. It's a truly great plant - pretty and carefree.
Anybody tried this "Citronella Plant"? It is really Pelargonium ' Skeleton Rose', has this cool and smells great. It's supposed to repel insects . . . one can only hope! I'm hoping it will make it through summer. IF it does both, I'm going to be propagating it like crazy.
homer1958.
Have not heard of A.Portora " Red " before.
This picture is a Alo. hybrid from LariAnn.
Alo. "Blue Stem"
Don'nt know how i did'nt see P.Maximum on e-bay.
Mine was very slow growing the first two years, then it took off. When it does it needs a BIG pot and lots of room. Good luck with it.Post a pic. of it.
Jerry
Hello to Rj and Everyone!
RachelLF, thanks! Was that a Philo Big Splash you posted on the last thread?
phughes, thank you for attaching the link to the new thread.
mjs, that is an awesome picture of your gloriosa lilly and your Hoya Kerrii is as good as it gets. I will have to find one.
White Brazilian Plume
dyzz, that was a noid costus in the last picture, I have another that is my favorite but not yet in bloom. If you like, I can send you starts of both after blooming.
Love the foliage on your Citronella plant. I can also see blue on the tips of your Dauben petals, all the comments in the Plant files on them are positive.
Pink Brazilian Plume starting to bloom.
Joeswife, It is amazing how good your Alocasia Loco looks, I have one leaf left on mine.
Between the strong wind and the low temperatures last week, the tropicals that I failed to take back in the GH are looking very sad. I lost quite a few buds, they should be Ok though, with a little TLC. Next week's weather for my area looks very promising.
I thought I had a picture of a couple of hummers on the Salvias. I am seeing quite a few of them, that is much better than all the sugar ants I am finding in everything.
homer1958, I was also bidding on that Pilo. Maximum, it got too high for me. I would love to see a picture of it, when you get it?
Texasbigleaves, sorry that I missed your question from the last thread. It is Philo. Cordatum from Brian Williams.
Have you taken the covers off your GH?
This is Pompano Pink from you.
Rita, Will do!
Rachel, The Agave was looking a little ragedy; but is coming along fine. Will get a picture of the others tomorrow. 40's tonight and tomorrow night, with clouds tomorrow! I am hoping for the best. The Alocasias are jonesing for the hot weather(near 90) to be here this weekend. This is the coldest this late in May in the 21years I have lived in the Charlotte area.
Hey Jerry, Sooooo ...THAT is what my blue stems will look like! They look like your Maximum..AWESOME! I got one from LariAnn in late December that was dormant. It is now about 3-1/2' tall and with 18'' leaves that is in the ground. 6' would be a nice height this year.
Mike D'Andrea (mda1515) had the Maximum for auction for a few days about a week ago! Got a Variegated P. Giganteum from him also.
Have grown Monstera and Selloum to very large size in pots(10'+Dia) Selloum is in the ground in my backyard. Monstera thought I had killed about 3-4 yrs. ago; thrown on the compost heap only to be resurrected (small piece) this past winter when turning a pile. If you have any pointers;ie... potting soil, water and light, I would appreciate them. From what I have been reading the Maximum grows in the petiole/stem pocket of a huge palm tree that likes kinda dryer conditions than most P.'s.
Getting late, 5:30 AM comes early.
Goodnight All
Debra, I am still admiring your Alocasia loco and is the third plant you showed a Stromanthe sanguinea 'Tricolor' or a Ctenanthe oppenheimiana 'Tricolor'? I always get these two confused.
Drew, you already have that little Agave looking alot better than when I had it. Thanks so much for giving it a better home and some much needed TLC. It sure needed it! The temperatures here in my part of VA. have been way below normal for this part of May as well and I sure have not enjoyed it.
Rita, that sure was A. big splash and those are some gorgeous blooms on your Brazilian Plume plants.
Texas Big Leaves,
Here is the URL of the "Red Portora" I was talking about.
http://aroidiaresearch.org/portora.htm
Rita, what an awesome color! Fluorescent Fuscia!
Are there Mini colocasia's ? I've got a thing for mini plants...and was thinking they would be awesome if such a thing existed.
MJsPonies; Google; Colocasia Esculenta "Black Magic Mini"
That one is killer too!
MJS, Colocasia affinis 'Jenningsii' (Perennial Dwarf Elephant Ear)
@ the Plant Delights webpage!
Goodnight Everybody!
Uh ohhh....
